hello there i have an Samsung galaxy s epic touch , that the power button doesn't work, can i active it and take it to a sprint store and see if they repair it?
I believe you should be fine doing that. I've done it before with $4 esrp (equipment service repair program) twice...switched phone onto account, waited a day or so and then went in and played dumb on why I was having issues (software issue caused by me that prevented booting/reprogramming/reinstallation of software). Most likely if they aren't able to fix it, they'll order a refurb for ya. Depends on servicability of the phone etc (evo 3d and EVO LTE being a bit more work for them from what I was told) I'd advise doing it at a corporate location. Faster and less hassle. Hope it helps ya and works out.

Well I believe you can search on sprint.com (I think it even says corporate next to the address etc.), try finding location in sprint zone app same way (if you still have it installed), or you can even call sprint and ask them to locate one for you closest to your current location, you can stop into a location you know of and just ask em if they are. Hope that points ya in the right direction.

You 2 idiots and many more like yourselves are the reason why our deductables keep going up. You think your scamming sprint and getting one over on them. Guess what your not, your screwing the rest of us. Sprint will not take that money out of their bottom line, they will take it from us. The TEP and ESRP plans are for your current phones not ones you have laying around and want fixed because you are to cheap to pay for the repair yourself. When Sprint raises the fees for these programs people like you guys will be the first to make a post here on xda complaining that sprint is nickel and dimeing us to death and that you've had enough and you going to another carrier. End of rant.......

But all joking aside, he's right. This is why our newer phones now require an $11/month plan to keep insurance. If you have a broken phone, leave it as such or pay the price to get it fixed. Stop doing this to Sprint. It only hurts us in the end.
If you reactivate an old phone, Sprint will offer their protection plan for it. I found this out a few weeks ago when I screwed up my LTE for a few days and didn't have the time to fix it. I asked why they'd offer it on my old Hero and they said they have to whenever a phone is activated. Personally, I don't buy extended warranties or protection plans for any of my electronic devices. I just found it weird that they'd do something like that.

I'm really hoping you're not getting rude towards me in any form or fashion. I've done nothing but be helpful in this forum from day one for 5+ years or even more....First off just want you to check yourself before you go off on someone that is simply replying to his question...I've been with sprint for quite some time, during which I've had replacements approved because they couldn't be fixed at the time and more recently I've worked for a sprint repair center and as long as they were paying for the insurance, we collected the appropriate deductibles and phones were replaced if we couldn't repair in-house (which a lot of times we did do repairs and dis t even charge the customer). TEP along with the other alacarte coverages (esrp, erp), transfer from phone to phone on each particular line. Only way I can explain that it's NOT screwing sprint and other users is because out of all the people that are paying for the insurance or even know they have it on their account (which you'd be surprised how many are shocked to hear they are paying for such coverage) maybe 25% actually take advantage of it....now I CAN agree if you abuse the system (ie:different replacement phone on the same line every month) then that is BS. But if you're simply putting a phone back on a line and its defective and within warranty/replacement criteria, I don't see an issue with it. More than likely sprint will send a within warranty device back to manufacturer (like they should be) and honor a coverage on the device that just happens to have a minor issue that can be repaired and cycled back through as someone else's refurb....hope that makes sense to anyone reading this. To finish off I guess my wording for "playing dumb" wasn't the best. I guess just don't go into detail on how it got damaged so that they don't have a reason to charge a "ID10T" fee. If the place knows their stuff they will know how to get a replacement and not hit you too hard in the wallet.

Just wanted to point out...Maybe my post count isn't as high or my average isn't as high as yours but you just proved why that is....I respond and post relative to the topic at hand and users like you (trolls that have nothing better to do than build they're post count pointlessly and unproductively) just ruin a perfectly good forum which I use rather frequently along with countless others. Insurance for $4. Is that correct? And if not, do you think I will still be covered?
All the other phones on the account have TEP for $7/mo.
I ordered it off of wirefly.com if that makes a difference
I've never seen that code.
I'd double check what is covered with that
if its a discounted code or if its just the code for ESRP (which doesn't make sense the way its worded there)
could be an old code, a new code, something you had on there for a while maybe, or something they put on cause they get paid on it and scammed you.
What I can tell you, is that to my knowledge (there is a $4 warranty plan) but It doesn't cover everything that T.E.P. does ...but that **** does say T.E.P. right there so I'm stumped, call and check..simple answer.
Code is TEP4, you are good to go... I have it on all my phones.
You can one or the other for 4 each. Or both for a dollar off...
Interesting. I guess I'll just leave it and hope it works.
Can you apply the code after purchasing the warranty?

im connected to sprint chat checking to see if i can use the TEP4 thing....those responses about it on here seem a little detail lacking
the rep has never heard of it before, but is looking into it
will edit when i figure it out one way or the other
edit: yeah they have never heard of that...said there are no promotions
Hopefully I can switch from the $7. TEP to this one.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Quick search reveals that tep4 is an SOC code used by Sprint reps to give customers a TEP discount. It may have originated shortly after TEP increased from $4 to $5(1/2005 according to my bills) as a way to appease people who complained about the increase. Historically, increases were $5-$6 in 1/2006 and $6-$7 in 2/2007. Fyi, word is TEP is to increase from $7 to $8 July 24th.
Evidently, the code is still active, but finding a rep who will apply it is the big challenge. I might try it myself.
I wish Sprint would go with someone other than Asurion...I've had bad experiences with them.
the $4 tep is intended for long term customers that dont currently have insurance... congratulations... enjoy tep at half price

They never have phones in stock...I had to wait a week to get a replacement Evo, only for it to have issues. Then I had to wait ANOTHER week to get a new one.

I have never had issues with Asurion. They have been nothing but a pleasure to do business with besides, not having the Evo's in stock is not necessarily their fault. The same would happen with any insurance company Sprint went with. The demand for the Evo was even larger than Sprint and HTC had imagined so every one was out of stock on them and they were on back order everywhere.
Let's hear some success stories getting this code added!
This could be fantastic news!
Called twice they said no.
I'm not even sure how it got added in the first place.
$4 TEP is insurance only though. Which means only stuff you pay $100 deductible on, so you don't get the warranty and in store repairs of the $7 TEP. So if that is important to you keep the $7 TEP.
EDIT: I may have been wrong. I know TEP used to incorporate two services the insurance and the in store repairs, but since this is being called TEP in the system it may be the same thing as the $7 one but at a discount. just a word of warning because at one point in time you were able to buy the in store service and insurance separately with Sprint.
Actually no to all being a sprint rep you have a choice of service and repair for 4$, equipment replacement for 4$ od both for 7 soon to be 8$

I went into the sprint store in longview Texas today due to my phone not making roaming calls and random reboots the sales rep decided it needed to be replaced but had to have manager approval the manager comes out and tells me he can't replace it because it has "illegal" apps. The apps were root explorer and roam controll which doesn't even require root to run I use root explorer without root as a file manager I explain to him that the phone is not rooted and he says root explorer is a tool used to obtain root and my warranty is now void I ask him if he knows anything about the phone or android or if he was retarded he then ask me to leave his store cause he cannot help me I tell him I just paid almost six hundred dollars less than 3 weeks ago and I want something done because there was nothing wrong with the apps so he called the police on me just wondering if there is anything I can do about this does anyone here works for sprint and knows who I can call he should not treat customers like that and be a manager. Yeah, I can promise you that if you call Sprint and just say you want to cancel your service, they will begin to bend over backwards to make it right. A couple of years ago, before all this unlimited, text, data, talk garbage I called them with a few "minor" complaints and I ended up getting off the phone with 1,000 free texts, 200 bonus minutes and a 10% monthly discount of my full bill for one year.
In fact I am thinking about doing it again because I don't think it's right them charging an extra $10 'smart phone' fee every month. Good Luck. I bet you get a free replacement phone and who knows, you may be able to push for some discounts or free accessories.

Perhaps, but I never behave in a way that would result in police being called. I mean own up to your part in this. You called the manager a retard and expect him to just say "Oh wait a minute, since you identified me as mentally challenged, here...let me take care of this for you." And I am sure that is only part of the story. If you came into a store I managed and you called me a retard, you better believe I would tell you to leave the store and call the cops on you if you didn't leave. And the only reason you would get THAT courtesy is because of the sad fact that any other more appropriate response would result in both myself and Sprint getting sued since I would be their employee.
Then you come here and piss and moan to people who both can't help you and probably don't care.
Take some responsibility for your behavior. The real world isn't like the anonymous internet. You can't just act a fool and get away with it.

I was thinking the same thing as you. No you should not have been treated like that, but I bet there is more to this that it not being told. I think there would probably have to have been threats made for the police to be called. I wasn't there so I will reserve judgement. I hope everything gets worked out and you get your phone repaired. Just a word of advice from my own experiences, you will always get more done for you if you stay calm, don't yell and don't call the people you are trying to get too help you names. Believe me I have done both and always get more when I complain in a polite, but firm way. Then just move up the chain of command as needed to if your are not getting the help you need.

So a few weeks ago, I started having problems with sprints service. 6 dropped calls in 30 minutes, echoing on calls (incredibly annoying). when I called they made it seem like it was my phone and reset something on my phone and then proclaimed that all of my problems were fixed. WRONG! from what I've read and learned from talking with other sprint users is that they are doing some upgrade that won't be finished until July or September depending on who you talk to and that they won't apply a credit until the service is fixed and that it will be in the form of minutes and not an actual credit. I'm in the Chicago market.
Does anyone have any insight or anything to add. I don't really want to deal with the hassle of changing providers but I'm getting really angry with the lack of service.

So, what you are saying is you had an issue. You called Sprint and they reset something and sayed it was fixed. It wasn't so instead of calling them back or going to a store, you talked to other Sprint users and got answers to your issues from them.
Advice: Go to a Sprint Corporate Store and tell them your issues.

I don't even know where to start with this post?
First, you came on here, told a story and asked for advice. I posted what I thought you said for clarification and then gave you my opinion on what you should do.
Second, people do come on here and post about canceling there service all of the time, but they usually have a good reason. My opinion is you don't really have a good enough reason to cancel as from what you posted, you only had the issue once and only tried once to get it fixed.
Third, your last sentence makes no sense to me at all. I have read it over a couple of times, but still cannot make out your point.
Just my opinions.
I'm in the exact same boat as the OP. They're doing the Network Vision upgrades to the tower in my area (McHenry county outside Chicago) and as a result 9/10 calls I make drop within two minutes. After an hour of back and forth with Sprint, all they were willing to do is offer a minor discount on my bill this month. Its ridiculous, if they cant provide voice service, why am I paying them at all? And yes, they said its going to go on until June.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Calling and complaining will help for most phone-related things but they aren't going to stop the network vision upgrade or w/e just because you called. Going in to a corporate store won't fix anything either. You're pretty much stuck with the **** service near your house.
What you can do, is, switch providers. If you're willing to go through the hassle. I imagine T-Mobile wouldn't be much better but that's your cheap alternative. If you're serious having 0 dropped calls, great reception everywhere, fast 3G and actual 4G coverage, go with Verizon. It'll cost a lot more but, in your case, will probably be worth it.
Also, since I see so many of these threads and am getting sick of it, I'll do the honors:

Well I had pre-ordered my HTC EVO 4g LTE like everyone else and waited for it to arrive on 5/18/12!
When I got the email that it was delayed I was kinda disappoimted, but what could I do other then sit back and wait. So it finally came yesterday. Opened up activated it and was over the saddening fact that it didn't come when it was supposed to. So I started to wonder what sprint was going.to do for all the people that waited like a lost dog staring out the window on 5/18 just to find out that they weren't getting there doggy bone. And just then ding dong (well who the hell is bothering me when I'm setting up my new EVO)its the UPS guy with a package? Confused ? I didn't order anything. Open the package like the little dog that might have just gotten a bone in the mail. And it was, a free gel case from sprint, and a letter of apology. Now this might not be a great apology, and they didn't even ask what color I wanted but its a great gesture. And its blue I like blue. Thanks sprint.

I got the grey hard case... Which with a little humt, found it to be the Bodyglove Kickback Vibe... $25 retail or so
Not bad for an appology gift I guess... I wasn't at all worried about getting my phone late... But if it was decided that HTC could not provide this phone I was going to try an start a boycot movement

I actually really like this blue one with the HTC logo... Does anyone know where to get them? Or has HTC not released them yet. I'd love to see the colors they come in
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
The only other color I've seen aside from the blue is a black version that was shown at CTIA. There is a red one I saw but it looked more like one that snaps on the back instead of fitting around the phone like this one does.
I haven't seen them online and Sprint obviously has them, they just haven't shipped them to stores. My experience on Thursday trying to find a case in a Sprint store, I went to two different locations and they both had different cases, none of which I liked. One store did have a black silicone similar to this one though for $15. But I'll take the blue official one and see if I can find something else. (The blue grows on you.)
It sucks that people who did not order directly form Sprint do not get one, even though we waited too. Or do we?

Not to sound negative, but no one other than Sprint knows the true answer to that, but I'd say probably not. The thing was, ordering through Sprint online was supposed to get everyone who did the phone earlier than everyone else. So they did something they didn't have to because they are trying to work on their customer service and public image. Now everyone who ordered through Best Buy, Wirefly and the like where raving about how they were saving money or getting a giftcard and what not. Well yes they will still get those things which should be better than getting a free case since that's what drew most people to them; whenever they get stock to send to them. Perhaps the companies everyone else ordered with may do something as a nice gesture as well. The only other people I see Sprint possibly doing this for are people who have pre-orders in store. They may allow the staff to let them choose between a couple cases to get one for free.

The customer has the option to order from whatever site/store they wish to. It's competition. Because I ordered from Best Buy or anywhere else should not disqualify me for a free case IMO. Sure I saved a lot of money and people who ordered online on Sprint did not. If the savings led me to buying at BB, so be it. Why shoot down the smart shopper?
In the apology letter it says "want to thank you for your patience as we know you have been anticipating the arrival of your new HTC EVO 4G LTE". It's referring to the delay, which those BB customers were part of too. If the cases are only being shipped out to the customers who pre-ordered online on Sprint, which it is, it should've specified that reason.
Excuse my bitterness. I'm upset because there is no LTE.
Correct, it is referring to the delay in general but if you didn't buy it from them don't expect them to give you something. If you bought it from elsewhere Sprint and HTC doesn't have to reward you for your patience because you didn't buy it from Sprint even if you are under their contract now. Now if Best Buy wants to give you a free case or WireFly or where ever you purchased it from to say thank you for your patience then it is up to them to do such. But they most likely will not because they already gave you whatever savings you got. You can not expect one store to give you something when you bought something from another. That's the whole point of having options as you say isn't it.
e.g. lets say you buy something from amazon because it's cheaper than best buy but then best buy turns around and gives the customers who bought it from them something extra that they didn't have to. You can't expect Best Buy to give it to you as you didn't buy it from them. And while I know you will say it says Sprint and HTC you have to look at it as a retailer POV.
I understand where you are coming from, I'd probably still be upset if I didn't have my phone yet. I am looking at it from a retail POV rather than the company you have your service with. Even though it states Sprint and HTC, it's Sprint as in the store you just made your purchase from and not Sprint as in the company you have cell service with.

And because you chose to let a third party cut into Sprint's profits on the phone they don't have to send you a case. If HTC works something out with the retailers like it did with Sprint then great, but otherwise leave it to the company selling you the phone to give you something not someone else.

I'm so torn on my bright blue case.
I love it, I hate it....I'm still using it.
I might use it until power skin makes a product for the evolte
I didn't get a case, what gives? I didn't order online, I called Sprint directly. I don't think that should make a difference.

Did you order it before 5/17? If so i would think it would be otw. Could also call them see what's up. All in all tho its only a $5-$10 case. It also seems to be random what color or kind you get. May also be running low on supply. Not sure how many pre-orders they had. Doesn't hurt to call them and ask.

Whats everyone think if the free blue case?
I like the quality alot as compared to the $5 case I bought on ebay
I wasnt a fan of the color at first but now its growing on me. The blue I won't be using at work becuase its less professional but its a great casual case
I'm currently waiting for the seidio surface with holster to arrive
Also I have a flygrip that has arrived but I'm waiting to see what case to put it on.

i am wondering if i should get this phone and how development is going in these forums as i have a rezound and my contract is due in september should i get this phone in august as that is when i can cancel my contract or should i wait to see what else is released im switching to sprint as verizon decided to end unlimited data and i am not willing to pay retail price on a phone as i have already paid retail for the rezound so what are all of your experiences with this phone should i go for it or nah i dont like the nexus or gs3 help please!
Personally I love my EVO LTE. Honestly since you seem to be from Huston I would definitely drop Verizon and pick up this phone with Sprit.
A.) The rates are cheaper and you get TRUE unlimited data.
B.) Huston is one of the first markets that will be getting LTE on the 15th of this month so it should be running great by August.
C.) This phone is just so sexy it had to get its own letter just for that.
I had my OG EVO for 2 years and loved it. Now that I have the LTEVO I will never look back, I love this phone.

It's not that, but that paragraph has tried to disguise itself as a sentence.
You being in the first LTE roll out market, I say HELL YEAH. I would run and not walk to Sprint today and lock in unlimited data. Verizon's prices are out of control.
As a fellow Houstonian, get Sprint's EVO LTE. In about a little over a week LTE will be officially switched on. The women (or me, if you're into that sort of thing) who will fall for you will be in the thousands.
Yea I'd say switch as well. One of the early ones with LTE. I'm in Roanoke Virginia. I never came close to seeing wimax and highly highly doubt I'll see lte during this phones life.
Verizon is money hungry and petty. I'd say switch in a heartbeat and try sprints lte

Honestly, I probably would be with Verizon right now, if it weren't for the fact that Sprint just has a wider selection of more appealing phones. Another thing that sucks about Verizon is price! Sprint seems to actually be making an effort now to listen to customers and make them happy, so if you can wait for LTE and Network Vision upgrades, I think Sprint will be a better value long term.

i mean i only pay 70 bucks a month for unlimited everything because i am a vip member of verizon but no unlimited data is going to kill me i mean i have house internet but im rarely home and i use my laptop more with the hotspot off my rezound so easily i get at least 20-30gbs a month and these data plans they have released are too crazy so i think i am going with sprint on this one and yes i do remember the good old days with the evo 4g got it when it barely came out but switched after my contract was up because verizon got 4g lte but yes i am switching back to sprint and i am getting this phone the specs on this beast are awesome and then its coming out in white! oh yeah!

Sprint having the HTC EVO line of phones is worth the switch. Best smartphones ever made!
I dropped Verizon on Launch day of the EVo. I've had Sprint for over 10 years.

Did you have both Sprint and Verizon then? Your comment confused me, since the EVO is only two years old. Your two sentences seemed to contradict one another.

let me help you out here my friend......... think about this....
is unlimited data even a validated feature when the fastest download speed you will achieve will be 2 mb down? here is my argument. at this point, this means you will ALWAYS be on wifi when at home, assuming you have wifi....
so the question is, how FAST will your carrier connection be, and how much of a *#&$ing nightmare is it going to be for YOU to have UNGODLY SLOW mobile data...?
if this does not apply to you, (meaning you never access internet when on the go - unlikely) then disregard this analysis.
here is the thing...
on verizon's network, your mobile connection will be conveniently fast, this will be something you notice, trust me.
so here is what i would do. if it were me in your shoes... stay with the faster network. these are not "phones" they are computers. and how irritating as **** is it when your laptop loads web pages in 30 seconds. or even 10........... try to fathom what this transition will be to you and how it will effect you personally.
1. use wifi when at home (not sure why anybody wouldn't anyways, it is always faster) this will save your "usage" of your limited data plan.
2. use that 2 gb or whatever data plan you have, simply to conveniently access things while on the move.
3. thank me for this post. i probably saved you from hanging yourself.
