Hi! I used Flashtool to flash to "WT19i_4.0.2.A.0.58_(1254-1868).ftf". When I tried to flash to "WT19i_4.1.B.0.431_Generic.ftf", and start my phone in flashmode, I always get an error that the USB device could not be recognize. Now I am sitting here with an old, stupid version of Android.
I did not change anything between the flash to .58 and .431.
I am running Windows 8 Pro x64.
So try reinstalling the drivers
And you have to select the firmware first, click ok and wait until the popup to plug the device in in flashmode appears, then power off the device, wait 20 seconds, hold volume down and connect in flashmode. This should work

Thanks for the reply! I already did that a hundred times. I reinstalled SEUS, Flashtool, Flastool-Drivers. Nothing works. That is independant from selecting a firmware. In any case, Windows 8 recognizes a device, when I attach the phone with in flashmode (turn device off, hold volume down, insert usb cable). I just get an error:
Device USB\Vid_0E0F&Pid_0001\6&69f746d&0&3 had a problem starting.

So frustrating ....
Have you tried another USB port?
Have you disabled the driver signature check? There are several threads how to do that, for example this one

Yes, I did that. No succes. Besides, it worked once without doing that.
Not having a phone for almost one day was terrible enough to install Windows 7 into a VHD and boot from that. As expected, everything worked well then. I hoped not having to do that.

Wellall started when I was trying to install Cyanogen mod into my U20a, I started reading the wiki, installed ADB, and other stuff, my personal hell started when I had to unlock the bootloader for my device. I have read many threads about this but I haven't found answers for the the issue that I'm getting.
First of all:
Device: U20a
OS: Windows 7 32
The problem is that when I run s1tool following the instructions that I have found in other threads (turn off the device, press the 'do the job' button, press the back button and plugging the USB cable) I do not receive any outcome from the s1tool, (I have waited 3 minutes waiting for any outcome but nothing happens), I have searched in the xda forums but I have only archived to get more and more frustrated with the s1tool.
So here I am looking for some answers and guidance.
Thanks.
have you got the SEMC driver installed?
you can obtained it within SEUS or install gordon's gate (inside flashtool package).
maybe it can sort out your problem.

did you tried with other USBcable/PC ?
Try having a scout about in Windows Device manager for the semc drivers.
I had a small issue when I first tried s1tool, Holding the phones back key and plugging in kicked the phone into 'flash' mode as a USB device, but I didn't have the drivers installed. (PC companion was installed, but that only seemed to contain the drivers for the phone when it was in normal (non-flash) mode)
When I tried to update driver in device manager, after downloading the usb drivers, they wouldn't install. I simply uninstalled the flash usb device in device manager. (It'll show up when the phone is plugged in, in flash mode)
Once removed, unplug the phone and turn it off. re-start by holding back key and plugging back in. Windows re-detected it and the second time around, installed the usb drivers.
Hope this helps
I also had the same problem.
I installed Gordon drivers from flashtool.. but still not able to detect the phone in flash mode.
me too, same problem

Hi,
i have problem with my Novo 7 Paladin. One week ago i installed Google Maps update. After that my tablet was very strange. Sometimes when it go to sleep it won't wake up. I had to press power on again. Later that week there was some graphical glitch on screen (blinking colors). And now i can't boot at all. So i tried the SD card method to recover system. The problem is that i can't boot. Combination of keys like VOL+ and POWER or VOL+ and RESET doesn't work. Then i tried the original USB Boot Tool from Ainol. This tool doesn't work either.
USB Boot Tool
1) install correct USB drivers (press VOL+ and plug USB)
select drivers from tool/drivers/4770
2) unplug USB and start USBBootTool.exe
3) press VOL- and plug USB
4) it says BOOT... please waite0% (attachment boottool.JPG)
5) after some time of waiting the error apears (attachment boottool2.JPG)
Can someone help me please?

when you connect your tablet to the PC, do you see any devices appear/disappear?
if you use linux, try lsmod (LSMOD lowercase) to see if your tablet shows on the list.

If it appears in devices, it's not completely dead. I don't have enough windows experience, but other people had occasional success installing correct drivers and reflashing the device using Ingenic USB Boot Tool or something like that. If the reflash process does not start, most probably it's because you have installed incorrect drivers.

Hello Experts,
This was the best phone I ever owned. It has best in class features (camera, touch, perf ..n ofcourse cost etc.). After the eight month of mighty use i got notification from "SUS" that ICS is now available on your device. Tried Upgrading but in next hour it was showing me touch/hang issues. So reverted back to 2.3* GB.
After a month someone said try manual upgrade of 4.0 using SE flashtool. Tried and result was almost same just that this time it was random.
Again thought of going back to GB. It worked. Used Device for another month without issues. And one night suddenly it went dead. Thought that could be the case of out charge. Did Charge using USB Cable/Power cord method but result was same. It never booted after that.
One day thought of connecting my car charger then it shown "RED" LED indicator. searched on google, someone said battery issue. Tried replacing battery with same model phone which my friend owns. But Result was same.
Finally went to Sony Service Center (Pune, India). They said phone cannot be recovered. I asked them to replace whatever it takes Upto.
Since phone was brought up from import method i couldnt claim warranty.
Sorry for the long email, now question to the experts here
1.) Can this phone recovered? I tried SUS/Flashtool my phone is not getting detected.
2.) Is there any possibility that Motherboard/chips can be replaced to get this phone into functional state.
3.) Anything else can be suggested. (Except buying new phone . i already own Spice CSLMI410)

guess it was sorking anyway, it looks your kernel is fine, so check in flashtool if the device connects not in drivers list
if it doesnt connect, unpack ftf you can see some system, data and so on image files flash them via fastboot(unlock bootloader)
if when you press and hold the volume down button while pluging the usb cable in, green light just lights up, it means there is hope bro :good: I believe after that, you need to go to a folder named something like "x10_libraries" in the flashtool folder and need to find fastboot.exe. oh, at the same time, you should download a kernel suitable for you device which includes cwm recovery and copy that .img file to the same folder from the last sentence. then you should write(in cmd of course) "fastboot flash boot something.img". I believe it'll work, at least no harm to try and I guess this is the last possibility for your beloved xpeia...
I flashed the wrong rom on my Xperia Z2, I tried fixing it by flashing tft file, but I couldn't even get the device into flashmode (Power + Vol up), It just never vibrates, when I put it in the charger it just keeps blinking red.
What's the proper fix for this? and is this a soft-brick or hard-brick? Please help.

Flashmode is not Power button + Volume up. But...
Connect USB to ur computer
Then Hold the Volume Down key on your phone while u connect the USB Cable to the phone.
If you successfully get to flashmode, then u can flash an FTF file for ur phone. (This will also wipe internal sd files if you don't untick 'data' under wipes) Then again, phone might not boot properly if you don't wipe as u said something about custom ROM.
OR Follow these steps I found on Sony website
1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps
Tried using flashtool with Vol down buut
18/058/2014 23:58:26 - ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device.
18/058/2014 23:58:26 - ERROR - You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool.
I'm sure that I have the drivers installed as I tried earlier today to unlock the bootloader through flashtool (which didn't really work out) and it recognized the device just fine.
right now it doesn't even show the Sony logo..I'll try PC Companion method in seconds..
EditC Companion is asking me to make sure that the battery level is above %80, when I was flashing the new rom, the battery level was around %50, should I care about this, or is it just an extra precaution? because I don't really see a way for me to know the battery level.

I'm sure 50% is enough to install through PC Companion unless ur battery is bad.
And do you by anymeans use windows 8? If you do, Did you disable driver signature while installing Flashmode, Fastboot and Z2 drivers from the C:\Flashtool\drivers folder, or where ever u installed flashtool to.
I believe I didn't disable driver signature, I connected the device to a different usb port too just to be sure, my OS is windows 8.1.
PC Companion is updating the phone right now, I'll see how it turns out and report back to you, thanks.
Edit:It worked, my phone is alive, thank you, stanley <3

There's no keeping that Bad Boy down! Cheers mate!
I was trying multiple firmwares on my Xperia 1 iii and suddenly at a point the phone did not have any les indicator, did not turn on, did not show any error message or display. It’s more like it doesn’t recognise anything at all. When I connect it to my pc it says somc flash device. Also when I connect it and try holding the power button for about 20 seconds, I hear a disconnect sound and the somc on the device manager disappears. Then after a second or two without me doing anything the connect sound comes and it reappears. If I try to flash with new flasher it says no device found.
Things I’ve tried
1. Charging the phone for durations ranging from 20 mins to whole night
2. Trying to hold power and volume up button or down button or both for 20 seconds or two minutes
3. Leave it untouched and try after some time
4. Most other things on coda or google
At this point it’s just a paper weight. Sony isn’t available in India so no scope of warranty. I’m open to opening and fiddling with the device internals given at this point it’s as good as dead. Please help

I did try Xperia companion. Didn’t detect my phone though. Any other ideas like opening up the device? Could it be the battery cos the port seems fine as it’s detected

Boot up and flashing takes a fair amount current. If the battery can't supply it...
Don't attempt to flash it with a low or bad battery as it could corrupt it.

The firmware end of it I know very little especially Sony. If Samsung keeps screwing up my next phone could be a Sony.

When you said Xperia Companion is not detecting your phone, have you checked in Device Manager if Windows actually detects a device plugged in? Could be SEMC and other names, don't remember what they stand for.
I guess you've already tried another usb port and a different cable?
