Hi guys, I'm starting work on a new rom based of the stock 2.2 rom for the g5. This thread will be updated with download links, screenshots and other stuff in the future. You can comment below with questions, suggestions and anything else in relation the StockMod G5 rom. Thanks.
Features so far:
Better UI - Semi-Transparent Notifications Background, new Battery Icons etc...
New System Apps
Better UI for stock apps such as new icons in Settings
IV rooted and installed cw recovery on my girlfriends phone but its network locked so is flashing a rom OK or do I unlock it before flash it as I'm wanting to flash your rom when its done and I'm new to this model as I use a galaxy ace myself. can you include a kernal that's supports overclock with this rom too as this model tends to lag alot and int2ext please to use partition

Hi, I won't be including overclocking or int2ext support in this rom as it is based on stock. I recommend you flash the CyanogenMod 7.2 port, its stable and supports overclocking and such. I've used CM10 on this phone but performance is very poor. You can flash without unlocking but you will still be locked to that network after flashing the rom. Good luck and happy new year!

Hi all,
I flashed the ROM yesterday and I can't see any of the ROM features.
I mean, I can see on phone info Villainrom 3.0, Android version 2.3.5 and ninphetamine 2.0.5, but there is no difference at all between stock Samsung ROM and the ROM I flashed.
I downloaded it twice and I flashed through recovery and I made the wipe required after the flash. Any idea of what is happening?

Have you checked the rom's thread, specifically the VRTweaks post?
Regardless, you're likely to have more luck asking your question in the existing thread.
Also pls notice a custom rom not always at first impact looks different to stock
Usually custom TW based roms (stock based) got "hidden" tweaks more than "visual" tweaks.
Check under Phone Info (settings) if the flashed rom is running or not
Without reading VR instructions .You have to be doing something wrong following the instructions.

Hi
Im new to rooting phones and have rooted my Samsung galaxy s3 GT-I9300. Im running 4.1.1 on it and rooted it using odin and CF-ROOT-SGS3-v6.tar.
Ive got CWM manager and superuser on it and have backed up my apps using titanium back up and backed up the rom using ROM manager.
What I want to know is can anyone recommend a ROM that is like the stock one but with added features such as multi window and takes away a lot off the added Samsung stuff thats not really needed and also runs smooth without eating up too much battery?
Can I just update my kernel or do I need to install a custom ROM?
Can I install the new ROM using ROM manager?
Do I need to move any backed up apps and current rom off the phones memory to an external SD card before installing a custom rom?
Do I need to take into account the Baseband version (mine is I9300XXELJ2) when looking what roms I can install or does it simply have to be for the S3 I9300?
Sorry if my questions seem a bit daft or if Ive not given enough information. Im new to all this and want a custom rom that will hopefully offer a bit more than the standard one but dont want to brick my phone
Thanks in advanced.

I would recommend sotmax ROM or android revolution ROM which is both close to stock ROM and my favorites. But you have to try for yourself to know.
You can use custom kernel after rooting. But read the op to see if compatible.
ROM manager can install ROMs but only with the premium version if I'm not mistaken. Alternatively just use cwm to flash. Fast and easy.
Backup apps depends on what you using. Titanium backup? Usually backed up apps are safely stored. And can restore in any ROM after flashing.
Baseband usually will be along with custom ROM.
All in all if you read the op in first post of each thread and follow steps. Bricking is usually a non issue. But as always make a full backup before flashing.
Happy flashing

No need to move the backups anywhere unless you're gonna wipe your internal SD.
Baseband doesn't matter, just flash anything for the i9300.
And don't ask for best ROMs, it's against the rules

So does the baseband in the rom have to match the one on my phone or can I install any rom and my baseband will just change and all will be fine?
This is going to seem stupid but what do you mean by op?
To install or flash a rom using CWM do I just click recovery mode in the app and continue from there?
Thanks for the quick response,
first, read the basic guides.
op means the first post
BASICS.

You can't have Samsung features on an AOSP (aka stock Android) based ROM. Its integrated into Samsung ROMs.
For best of both world's you can dual boot two ROMs using Siyah kernel 1.8.9 eg. A Samsung ROM (ex: stock) and an AOSP based one (ex: CM10.1)
Before experimenting copy backups to an external SD card or your PC.
International S III 16GB / Dualboot 4.1.2 Stock & Cyanogenmod 10.1 / Gokhan's SK
Anono ROM gives high performance stability and great battery life
Other than that it is like stock

discussing what's the best /most stable /feature - rich ROM is against the rules
Thank you for the answer for the old question.
I want to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167927 this.
I have epinter CM10.1 now.
What I need to do?
Do I need just enter the CWM and wiped everything and then flash the zip file?
or I need to do something more?
OLD:
I rooted my device with some quick root tool. (I don't remember where I found the guild).
I have unlocked my bootloader too. (I don't really remember but I think I made that with a guild from androidadvices. His title is :"How to Unlock Motorola Atrix 4G Mobile Phone")
My device is bought from ORANGE. (I think that I belong to Bell's group of ROMs. not AT&T).
I have flashed CM10 by epinter and then CM10.1 by epinter.
Now I want to give the phone to my little brother and I want to flash a ROM with all the webtop apps and blur apps.
I want a ROM with the minimum bugs. I prefer based of official 2.3.6 ROM
What ROM can you suggest me?
Do I need to do some changes with the phone before wipeing everything in the CWM and flashing ROMs ?
Thanks ahead.
This is based on 2.3.6 and is an updated version of a rom that many of us used for a long time as our daily driver.

Hey All,
Im considering switching back to a Stock 4.3 ROM from www.samsung-updates.com to my Samsung Galaxy S3 i-9300 they have a international rom for Great Britain which i think will work fine for my phone, Im currently running a SLIMROM of 4.4.2 with Touch CWM..
I personally dont care about the counter and odin flashing, really need to know if these .zips are flashable with CWM and if i can maintain my CWM recovery because i might wanna switch back to slimrom or another if its not as fast or slick as Slimroms seem to be..
Much Love and thanks for all your time
Warren:laugh::laugh:
Stock roms are only flashable using odin.
thanks
Thanks man is it possible to keep CWM or do i have to overwrite that back to stock aswell

Flash stock rom via Odin ,then flash a custom Rec ,finally restore your old rom

How about enjoying both worlds by using CWM based custom rom? The same good-old samsung UI with several major improvements.
I strongly recommend this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060403 (newer and lighter than the UK rom).
If you still want the MK6 version (with all bloadware included), but planning to get it rooted & to install CWM again:

Hi All,
I need a quick help.
currently i have a kernel 3.4.X for KitKat ROM LWW (coconut) downloaded from this site http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755249 kernel is good with good RAM & Battery performance, but it has some bugs like Wi-fi, videos can't play, can't take video recording etc..
Now i have downloaded another kernel and wanted to test it. So, do i just need to flash the New kernel on top of the present kernel one. or
should i need to go back to the stock build version WT19i_4.1.B.0.587 and then i need to flash the New kernel or what ?
Thanks in Advance,
First of all you need to tell us which kernel you r flashing on this phone.you need to find out is it comp atible to the rom you use.if yes you can use it without problems
Sent from my Xperia Live with Walkman using xda premium
If the new kernel is compatible with your current rom, just flash it and it'll work. There's no need to flash the stock rom and you won't lose any data

Thanks All for replying !!
