Rooting methods with Windiws 8? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

My question for you wise people today is. Can I unlock my bootloader with the tools Adam has supplied on Windows 8? Thanks, much love.

Yes you can. I did it on my laptoo running windows 8. I installed kies to get the erivers flashed revision 3 with odin. After that follow the boot loader unlock process.

Bootloader Unlock???

Hi Guys...
Just got an insurance replacement....
Running 2.06
Did moonshine s-off but need to unlock bootloader also so I can load recoveries....
Can someone please help me.
When I try to install supercid....I get install failed.

If you are S-Off then the phone is unlocked and you can flash the recovery provided you know what you are doing.

Your unlocked so now go in the app store and get "ROM manager" which will flash you ClockwordMod Recovery. (Easiest way IMO)
I am an idiot....I do know what I am doing but didn't realize moonshine it all in one step.
All good now...instalingl twrp
Or get Goo Manager and load TWRP
I'm new to the phone world but I'm trying to get up the nerve to root phone but I don't feel Like I'm tech savvy enough to do it,the whole unlock Bootloader because I have (2.06)..it just sounds like too many things can go wrong...any advice?

The easiest method really is to dl the Ubuntu 32 bit iso and make a bootable cd/usb of it and do moonshine from within the live portion of that iso. takes all of 30 mins and most of the time completes without issues everytime like clockwork.

You don't need to download Ubuntu anymore they added windows support I moonshined using windows xp
4.3 Carbonized DNA!!
Yes I did it the other day. There are some good videos on YouTube that help. Got an error and for some reason my phone was showing up until I put it in the adjacent USB port.
*I think it's USB port related, not software*

Yes, but using windows brings a lot more chance of error due to drivers and other bs, that's why I said the easiest way, was using Ubuntu.

Hey guys, this thread seemed on topic for my question. I have a used DNA on the way, I presume it has the new firmware.
Coming from a Rezound with S-OFF and unlocked bootloader, I want to be able to flash ROMs and kernels on my DNA. Do I just need to get S-OFF and then I can load custom recovery and flash whatever I want? This is what it sounds like, but just wanted to clarify. Thanks!

I have not been following the DEV scene for this device in awhile. At this point even with the latest firmware and latest hboot you can achieve S-OFF?
Moonshined with win 7 64bit. Failed a bunch of times 4th time it worked. Same USB port.

Root

What is the most recent root method for this phone? I've read and read and I'm getting really frustrated with this. Can someone just give me a link to a root method that isn't a pain in the ass and that works. HTCdev doesn't work. I would appreciate it so much!

Actually one other question. Do I need to s off first? Or unlock the boot loader first?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Moonshine will root, unlock bootloader, and s-off. All you need is to be on firmware version 2.06 or 2.07.

I'm actually trying to root 2 DNA's, and I've successfully rooted 1, but the other is still causing problems. All the software versions and everything in about phone are exactly the same on both phones, but mine is causing problems -_- anyway, how do I flash TWRP recovery now? I apologize guys, I'm not familiar with HTC's at all, I'm used to Samsung. I've rooted, unlocked and installed custom recoveries on Note II's and S III's in like 10 minutes top.

Download goo manager from the playstore and there should be an option to flash TWRP recovery in the app.

Verizon note 2 update question

So I have a note 2. It has 4.1.2. I unlocked and rooted with team win recovery tool 2.5.0.0 using odin. Now the update is out and I keep defering cause I dont know what to do. How do I update to the current version without bricking the phone?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
You grab up one of the OTA based ROMs without the bootloader and flash it. That way your bootloader remains unlocked.

If you're rooted then flash 4.3 with odin and you can also look into Sophisticated Rom v3.1 for the note 2. it has a stock look and feel to it

Did you tried flash other KDZ file?
I'm done with flashing those stupid euro kdzs.....hahaha! I'm going to install kuma82's themed rom tonight and that will be it until someone figures out how to use the stock kernel to port a CM 10 for locked bootloaders. LG....you win...for now.

kuma82's guide
After trying the manual/KDZ method several times (then giving up) I tried kuma82's guide and it worked for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601480
My phone is dated May 2013, I know there's some discussion about whether LG completely locked L9s after a certain date. Anyway, I was surprised, but for my phone it worked.

Factory image

If I wanted to flash a factory image straight from Google, do I just flash it through fastboot and besides having bootloader unblocked is there anything else I need? Is it like running an RUU? Thanks for the help...

Just download Wugs toolkit from this link and use that. Works flawlessly for me. You just need to be unlocked but the toolkit can help with that.

That link does help, but I was wondering if I can run all them commands without running the recovery command? That way I have the stock rom and kernel but keep the custom recovery.
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
You can run any one of them you want. I'd recommend you only flash the system, cache and boot images. You'll have to re-root by flashing supersu in your custom recovery, hope it's Twrp, cwm is poorly supported.
