Could anyone help me understand why Maps app is using 80% of my battery life
Stop latitude , it uses wi-fi and keep it from turning off.

I have force stopped Navigon though it is still in my battery usage stats. Why is it still using my battery and how do I stop it?
Anyone?

I have noticed through the course of the day that my battery keeps getting drained by maps. I'm not using maps at all but it keeps opening itself up. Is this from location services? Or is it from something else?

Anyone know what is going on here? I haven't used maps once since rooting.
Thanks in advance

Google maps uses your gps...and some data...in return it eats up battery pretty quick.

Hmmm.
I've never seen this before and I've been using Google maps for years.
It's a wake lock thing in pretty sure but trying to find a fix

Definitely! Data drains battery so fast. Errrrrrr. I like using wifi than data
Go into location settings in maps and disable location reporting.

I think Google Now keeps going to maps for traffic alerts and drive times.

Download greenify and hibernate the app.

Try Backitude. Lets you specify the interval that location updates are done rather than the constant polling that Google maps does.

My battery on the DNA is draining way too fast and I look it up with gsm battery and Google play services doesn't let the device sleep any ideas why
I'm running the latest viper Rom and ihatekernel

Try shutting off location updates from Google, or turn location off in general. You can also use greenify to sleep Google services framework (xposed framework and donate version only iirc, how you get donate version is up to you). Those three methods I have tried myself on the same setup and it sleeps for me.

Install Wakelock Terminator (_https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.andro.wlt) and see the difference.
Greenify is also a great way to save battery.
