Losing contacts? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I've had my note 2 for about a week. Two days ago my contacts just disappeared. Did a soft test and they were back. A few hours later. .. gone again. Removed the two lasts apps thinking it could be that. No, still went away again. But every time I do a soft reset (turn the phone off) they come back. Checked the sync and Google says can't sync not check back later. Is there something going on between Samsung and Google? Checked with Verizon and of course they know nothing.

Try downloading "Contacts Sync Fix" from the Play store.

Did you go under settings> accounts click google > click on your email> and check all the google services > and sync now at the bottom. Check if they are back, if not reboot. Hope that helps.

Calendar Times Off by One Hour

I live in Arizona where we don't observe daylight savings time. However, on Sunday all of my recurring calendar events (both google calendar and exchange) were suddenly one hour early. My exchange calendar on my computer still shows the correct time but the google calendar is wrong both on my phone and online. This leads me to believe it is a google/android issue. Anyone else have this problem? I have tried checking my time zone, flashing a fresh rom, clearing calendar data. Nothing works.
Thanks.

Should be the carrier signal not google. The carrier controls the time signal, the Carrier may not care that Arizona is the only state that doesn't recognize daylight saving time
Yeah but my clock is right.

I live in phoenix and had no issues. My fiance's phone was for a minute but corrected after a re boot, we work different schedules so have different alarms and calendar events.

I dont get it. The same thing happened when I first got my phone and dst was just starting. That was when I was running stock 2.1.

When you go to date/time in settings, how are your settings there?
If it's right, and it's right on everything else but your email client... then there are settings in that app that need to be adjusted.
My wife's exchange calendar was off a few hours when she came back from LA. I looked in the settings of touchdown, removed all of her calendar events and then added them back... once they were added back everything was a okay.
It's not google/android. It's an app.
It was wrong on my Google calendar though. Even when accessing through my computer.

My calendar was off until I rebooted. I'm in Hawaii and we don't observe DST either.

Then it has nothing to do with your phone...
Check your calender settings.
But times are also wrong on my exchange calendar on my phone. When I access my exchange calendar at work via outlook the times are correct. That's why i believe its a google/android problem.

EVO 3D constantly syncing??

My phone shows the syncing icon 24/7. I have rebooted and also checked which apps are syncing. I don't have any custom apps that sync, only the Google apps. Under settings, it shows gmail and everything syncing but they just never finish. Anyone have this glitch?

Did you install the update? I think the update is suppose to fix this. I haven't installed the update but I have also not seen this happen on my device yet.
No, I haven't updated. I was trying to avoid because I don't want to miss out on root, but I guess I'm going to have too because this is killing my battery.

LOL....i just sent HTC another email about this.....i constantly get the SYNC icon in the NOTI bar....and in "accounts and sync" its not showing anything syncing....
Well I just went into system updates and updated the HTC software only. It fixed the problem so if I don't get root in the next three weeks this phone is going back to Sprint.

Too funny. You sent an email about an issue they already released a fix for.

This worked for me. If you created an HTC Sense account it's set to sync whenever anything changes (Push). Go to Settings-Accounts & Sync- click on HTC Sense and change the update schedule to something less ridiculous like an hour or more instead of push. Hope that helps.

If you guys haven't applied the updates then I wouldn't send HTC an email. The problem as far as I know has been resolved with the updates.

What do these privacy settings do?

In the settings > privacy tab there are these options :
Backup my data
Automatic restore
What exactly do these do? Does keeping them activated use more battery and processing power? Is it recommended to uncheck them?

First copies all your app's data to Google servers on every sync.
Second restores (copy back from servers to your phone) that data when you reinstall your apps after a factory reset.

What kind of data? I don't have anything critically important on my phone. Maybe passwords on websites and that's it. Is that part of the data it backs up?
Is it important to have this on?

Contacts, wifi passwords and such. I turn it on when I add a new contact etc just to double make sure it gets backed up.
Other than that I permanently leave both options off.

A bit but I'm not sure how frequent or often it syncs with Google.

[Q] Anyone else having this in the BetterBatteryStats?

I've got "*sync*_com.android.browser" showing up at the top for partial wakelocks. In 5 hours since unplugged, its got 25 min and a count of 251. I'm about to freeze the dang browser in TiBu since I don't use the stock browser anyway.
Is this showing up for anyone else?
This is on XXLPQ (Phone-Bricker) btw. ROM is great minus this one issue that appears to be killing my battery. Down to 64 in 5 hours. On GB I was still around 90 at this time.
I doubt this is limited to this one ROM.
I'll check it out when I get home in 40mins, I haven't seen it on my phone though.
Using stock browser?

Yes, the stock browser. The fact I'm not even using it though is the problem.
I turned that off. The browser sync seems to not stop trying to sync. No idea why.

Figured it out
Figured this out... It was the internet browser sync under my Google account settings. There was a sync issue and it continually tried to sync. I just unchecked the browser sync under the Google account.

google maps and battery drain while not in use

after the maps update a couple months ago I noticed it keeping my phone awake with partial wake-locks and firing up GPS, wifi, and wireless location services while my phone is asleep. I have location services set to *not* collect anonymous location data so I'm puzzled why it's doing this. anyone else notice this? any solutions?
Go to maps press menu settings location and look at this:
Make sure it is all off.

Also, go to Settings, General, Location services, and UnCheck Google's location service and Location & Google search. I do allow GPS satellites though. I fully charged my phone (lgog) and unplugged it before going to sleep, this morning when I woke up, battery was at 98%. I am running nottach's base ROM 0.7.3 with fast dormancy disabled.

Oh yeah, been there, done that. Back in the day the forced latitude stuff was killer....

I've just turned off the wireless networks one so only gps is enabled. I'll see if that makes a difference. Just knowing you guys aren't having problems is very helpful. Thanks.

Also, if you added Google Now, go turn that off in settings. That app polls location, weather, news, etc. I lost as average of 45min to 1 hour on my Galaxy Nexus and the only change was GNow

I'm missing something simple. I don't get those options when I'm in maps and go settings-location settings. I get a white screen with a map saying I haven't turned on latitude/location sharing. Do I not get your black menu because i don't have it enabled? Is not sharing the same as sharing and then turning everything off?
