[Q] Possible legal issues with apple? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm developing an app to control remotely a mac, I'm planning to publish it on the market and probably make it open source...
Do you guys know if I might face any legal issue?
I dont know if I could use the name of apple products, or the brand name in the description/title(unlikely)/tags, I guess I can't use the logo/images?
Thank you very much guys
sorry if english is not my native language.

You won't make enough money from it for them to care. Just don't use the Apple logo.

[Q] Use Liveview for making Calls?

Hi would like to know if its possible to start a call through the liveview? Like vrowsing the contact list and pass the signal to a bluetooth headset.
at the moment of release, no, it does not support it. However, LiveView's API is capable of doing so, u just need someone to write a program that runs between the phone and LiveView. It definitely is capable to do so, it can do alot more stuff than we anticipated, trust me

[Q] Remove anoying ads in android

Hi,
ik was wondering if there is any way to delete all the anoying ads you get by google in the androidsystem, because they are pretty anoying! They use up too much of my screen and I don't want em there!
Is there a solution for this?
I just want an ad-free android phone. If I want to see ads I go looking for them myself! I allready get this sh*t in my email, mail, internetsurfing, TV, magazines, ingame, etc, etc.
If it comes into your personal stuff it's just spam, am I right?
I just don't want no ads/spam no more in my phone!!!!!!!!!!!!

"I just want an ad-free android phone."
You just answered your own question download "adfree " . it removes the adds rather i should say it blocks the adds bu just keeping a blank screen . something is better then nothing. I use it myself, and i don't mind the little blank screen which you will never-ever notice.
Your device need to be rooted for using Adfree.
Just remember, you're hurting the developers who wrote that program for you to use. But, if you're ok with that, do what the guy above said.
i've never understood how online andvertisment works.
Never clicked on a single ad and yet they're making money?
sense none
It's called "impressions". They pay very little, but, if you've got a big enough audience, they are good enough.
Also, people do click on ads, you'd be surprised. I've clicked on a few, especially in apps that I really like and want to support the devs.
Well, I'm not asking for those ads! If i use an app, it's because I want to use that app, not because there are some interesting ads in it!
And oc I dont want blank space instead! I wan to use my screen for what I am doing at that moment!

You think it's messed up we live in a society where people should receive money for work they did?
You paid for your PC, does that mean all the software should be free? You've paid for a refrigerator, does that mean your food should be free? You've paid for a car, does that mean gas should be free?
When you grow up, you'll hopefully realize that people work hard for a reason.
Well, I guess it's for money, right?!
But still it doesn't mean that they have to spam it into my life!
You missed my point: I'm happy and willing to pay for what I need and people offer, but it's still my choise to go looking for it myself, instead of being spammed on my mobile, TV, email, regular mail, etc...
I perfectly know what I want and don't want. It has nothing to do with groing up.
It's just a shame that we live in a society in what this is all seen as 'normal'.
Ontopic: after experiencing adfree for two days now, I can say I'm happy with it.

For people like you it doesnt have effect, however there are lots of people, actually most of the humans, who are catchable for advertisements.
If it didnt create any turnover companies stopped advertising ages ago. Now they are willing to pay huge amounts of money to get advertising time during a important tv event...so this is a cheap way for small companies to get their names into the already overloaded free market where we luckily live in.
For you it is one of the downsides of this free world, for them it is an oppurtunity to increase business.

[Q] Thoughts on HTC "App Associations" to avoid Patent issue

Friday folly: HTC changes U. S. Android phones to avoid injunction
I wondered about why they have "App Associations" and this does make sense legally.
Me, it's not a big deal (IMO: I think the patent is vague and over reaching, but I'm not a lawyer) and may be a clever way to avoid the issue.
Thoughts?
I'm on Scott's CleanROM 4.5 Standard (GREAT WORK by Scott!)
5 words and I will leave it to rest: **** Apple and their bu*****.
On another note, witht he advent of being able to use GSM on Venasaur, I wonder if their will be a rom out for the One X to utilize CDMA?
At first I didn't understand the reason for App Associations, but not I just have one question: how do the other manufacturers get away with it?

Apple has an issued patent and is using it to make money. That's how it's supposed to work. I find it hard to blame them for working the system.
If you have a complaint, it should be with the "intellectual property" system itself, which (for patents) makes it too easy to get patents for obvious ideas (and too expensive to legally challenge). For copyright, it makes the terms far longer than necessary to encourage creation.

The idea that they can patent something already being used elsewhere is pretty screwed up. That being said, this situation is still screwed up.

The problem is that i dont know java and my ambitions are far away from being a programmer . So i need someone who already knows java and likes doing that to help me. As i said i can pay to him cause i am going to sell that app so . And JJ can you please pm me what was your request for the bootanimation.
I think you should learn how to make app.
I'm a designer and can design UI that I think better than most of app out there, but still can not find dev want to join with me making android app (iOS is better cause' ugly app can not sell).
Most of them doesnt like the idea of sharing profit with someone else when they can code it from a-z, and there's not much new ideas that really worth something - mostly copy or improve.
If you still stick with the idea, you and him need to make an agreement, then find a way that split the profit with right ratio with each app purchase.
Good look.

Lol.
Imagine, if I am a java programmer:
This is your wish:
1. I build the application.
2. You sell it @GooglePlay
3. Get the money.
4. I get a half of the money.
This is the REAL FACT:
1. I build the application.
2. Then sell it by myself @GooglePlay.
3. I get the money from the seller.
4. Enjoy the 100% money by myself.
Is this so hard to understand?
Is it so hard to understend that the content provided in this app are 100% made by me. So the programmer cant make that app cause I and only I have the content thats going to be in that app

Yeah, sorry I am all day angry now cause of bootloops.
First you need to demo the content that you made is difference with a tons of competitor already out there with better ranking and reputation and free (or support by ads and large base of customers), then dev will decide it will make money or not, worth working with you or not.
Most of dev will step back when you say the idea is "sell wallpaper app"

Of course my idea is to make 10 paintings available for free with ads. And the rest 50 will be in a paid full version.
So... why you not demo 1 of them right here where dev can see if it worth to working with you or not? How can you find dev want to work with you not on hour rate but future payment that may never happen if your content is not good enough?

Yeah, I know it's not supported. The question is why? It's a current phone with very decent specs even now that it is around 7 months old. Are you really gonna tell me that a phone such as the DNA is not supported? What's wrong? It was supported just fine before this ****ty update you decided to put out. But seriously, even if you decide not to officially support it, why not allow the option for us to still download it? I'm sure the DNA can handle it..
Very disappointed in Microsoft.. I await your reply.

Hello XXXX,
We understand that you'd like to know why your device is not supported by Skype.
To clarify, the new 4.0 version of Skype is compatible with Android phones only. As we can see, the HTC Android DNA has the specifications of a "phablet". This means that it is a phone but has the size of a small "tablet" device.
Although most Android phones are supported by the new version of the Skype application, some are left incompatible due to the size, resolution and specification designs of the application. For this, we apologize for we are unable to provide a specific reason why it is not yet supported but we assure you that we are working on developing a version that would work with your device in the future.

If you want ro be respected, you have to give it as well. That person could have easily told you to piss off for being a whiny kid. Obviously that rep didn't know why it wasn't supported, you made yourself look like a big baby with your language and use of caps lock. You could have easily asked to be transferred to someone who may know, such as his/her manager or supervisor. Not everyone is as tech savvy as the people on this forum, cut them a damn break.
