Reverting back to stock/un-root - HTC Amaze 4G

How do I go back to Stock rom with absolutely no root?
I ask this because I'm switching my HTC amaze for a new one tomorrow , and i don't want to void my warranty.

you have to first relock your bootloader.. and your bootloader status will say "relocked" so technically it is a small void in warranty... to go completely back to stock with the "locked" status you have to be s-off and go through the s-on process again.. theres a guide somewhere let me find you a link
but useually the process to go back to stock is
1) relock bootloader
2) download stock RUU for carrier (located in my sig)
3) rename file to PH85IMG(.zip extention)
4) place file on root of internal or external sd card (depending on if you have a sd card or not)
5) boot your phone into bootloader and let the hboot scan for any stock image files
6) let file install and your phone will restart and you'll be back to stock (with a "relocked" bootloader)
(this is a video of what flashing the PH85IMG in the bootloader will look like, its for the sensation but its the same for all htc devices)

how do you relock the bootloader?
Edit: By doing this command while in fastboot? " fastboot oem lock " ? which program do i open to insert that command?

you have to use adb commands.. or you can just use hasoons AIO toolkit to relock the bootloader.. if you want back the "locked" you have to s-off your phone or it will say "relocked"... there's a guide somewhere on how to s-off ... and i posted how to s-on and lock your bootloader in the bottom of my last post

ICS on TELUS,WIND and Mobilicity

This is a small guide to help the users of the above carriers or users who dont have a T.Mobile amaze
The below steps has been proven to work without any BRICKS so far..but remember this voids your warranty...please read the entire post then read again before you start and dont be afraid to ask questions..
Things you need
- Shielded Copper wire
- usb cable
- computer
- adb knowledge
please make a backup of your APN list and your SD card contents and ensure your battery has atleast 50% charge
STEP
1: Unlock your bootloader..go to http://htcdev.com/ and unlock your bootloader....Altho this may not be necessary but I've heard that some people are unable to unlock thier bootloader after ICS update. This May not be true but do it to be safe
2: Go to http://unlimited.io/ and donate they deserve it...then S-OFF your device.. This step is a MUST because it allows you to SUPER-CID your device
3: Reboot into FASTBOOT
4: (( HOLD SHIFT AND RIGHT CLICK ON THE FOLDER THAT CONTAINS ADB AND OPEN COMMAND PROMPT HERE ))..enter the following commands using ADB..
(a) fastboot oem writecid 11111111
(b) fastboot reboot-bootloader
(c) fastboot getvar cid [it should confirm your CID is 11111111]
(d) fastboot reboot
5: Download the attached file ((rename it to PH85IMG do not extract it)) put it on the root of your external SD card and reboot into HBOOT mode and flash it.
Your HBOOT should read LOCKED at the top...
6: Reboot normal and rename the PH85IMG to PH85IMGone
7: Download the ICS ROM from the links provided below and rename it PH85IMG
http://goo.gl/vCYxu THANKS TO FOOTBALL
http://goo.gl/qzR6B THANKS TO Morrislee
http://goo.gl/OJzPK THANKS TO msoler8785
8: Reboot into HBOOT mode and allow it to flash...this may take some time so please do not power off the phone
9: After Installation reboot normal...YOU HAVE ICS...yaaayyy to u
Delete the PH85IMG
THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE NOT BUT ITS UP TO YOU
10: Rename the PH85IMGone to PH85IMG and boot into HBOOT mode and let it flash then reboot into ICS
11: Delete the PH85IMG and flash a recovery...I reccomend 4EXT..[http://goo.gl/Ta5sT] thanks to MadMaxx82 and glacierguy
12: Reboot into recovery and flash the SUPERUSER.zip found here [http://goo.gl/ialuz] (this may have to be done twice)
13: Install busybox installer found on google playstore[http://goo.gl/4r6iX]
----------YOU NOW HAVE A ROOTED ICS----------
Thank you

What's the difference between your hboot and the Juopunutbear's hboot? Just wondering because I said yes to install Juopunutbear's hboot during the S-Off process
ControlBear cannot obtain root if you use stock Wind firmware with Perm root, you will need to flash custom recovery, wipe ALL (system, data, cache) and flash Android Revolution HD ROM
Once that is done, then boot normally, make sure debugging is enabled then proceed with juopunutbear's controlbear
its not my H-BOOT its ENG-HBOOT
It seems like my phone won't recognize the ph85img.zip file... On the sd card, internal storage... Nothing's happening when I boot into the HBoot... It scans for files but doesn't see anything... Any ideas?

You forgot to relock your bootloader
It was relocked when I did S-Off but nothing was working so I unlocked it to see if it did a difference... Does it have to be relock???

How did you "re-lock" the phone ?
remember the IMG file MUST...MUST be "PH85IMG" and has to be a zip file so DO NOT extract it just rename it
I can confirm that on my rooted, S-Off (JuoPunutBear), bootloader unlocked Mobilicity Amaze 4G, when you flash the first ZIP, it quickly goes through and flashes a few items and then reboots.
At that point, the bootloader is relocked.

Yes, if you could attach the ROM file to this thread (or upload to another file share) that would be great. I've tried numerous times throughout the day to download from FileFactory, but all the free slots were full, and now I can't download from the site without upgrading to premium.
Thanks very much for all your work!

Make sure the contacts on the microSD card are clean. I think I had dust or sand on it from another microSD I swapped earlier and the phone didn't recognize the microSD.
Other than that make sure its not named.zip.zip. just one .zip is good.

I'm with Fido and my Amaze is currently S-OFF / ENG HBOOT (locked) / SuperCID / network/SIM unlocked / 4EXT Recovery Touch / Xboarder56's Sense 3.5 ROM / Superuser (Unused) / SuperSU. I downloaded the ROM from the OP but would just like to verify prior to proceeding as I don't currently have a computer due to a house fire.
Flash ICS ROM via HBOOT.
Boot into ICS.
Install a file manager and copy the ENG HBOOT to my card's root for re-flashing.
Flash ENG HBOOT via HBOOT.
Boot into ICS.
Install 4EXT and reflash the 4EXT recovery.
Install SuperSU via recovery.
Boot into ICS.
Install Busybox.
Given the current state of my device, doing the above, I'd end up with it the same as-is now (i.e. 4EXT Recovery Touch, ENG HBOOT, network/SIM unlocked, rooted, S-OFF, SuperCID) except running ICS. Correct? Am I missing anything?

[Q] Stuck on HTC Screen after GB Recovery

I have the following:
*****unlocked*****
RUBY PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.90.0008
eMMC-boot
Nov 1 2011, 16:50:47
Since I was unlocked and rooted (S-ON), I have a basic TMO ROM and it was 2.3.4 and the ICS would not update. After reading the "Bible", i tried to restore GB to factory and now I have a problem. I cannot get it to pass the first HTC splash screen. Also, with the Stock Odexed.zip, I get an MD5 error when I try to unzip to sdcard and load with CM.
Ultimately, I would like to get to stock ICS rooted.
Thoughts?
Try ext4 recovery its the most stable one out for the amaze. Did u try to s-off if not ur better off
1. Never unzip a flashable zip. it's supposed to be zipped.
2. Download the latest ICS ruu from the stock RUU/OTA thread, rename it PH85IMG, place it on your sd card, relock your bootload via hasoons tool, then boot into hboot and update your phone via that ruu image, bootloader should auto detect it once it's on your sdcard and you boot into hboot.

then nothing... back to the opening screen and it is does not boot

Did you read my post properly?
Kindly go to the stock ruu/ota thread in the development sub forum of the amaze forum, look for the most recent ics for tmo us, should be the very first on the list and download it, once downloaded, rename that file PH85IMG and place it on your sd card, reboot your phone into hboot AGAIN, then wait for it to load the file, once it does, it will give you an option to update via volume up or not update via volume down, okay?

Thanks Dark Nightmare! I was using the "Bible" as my reference and got confused with using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27058110&postcount=44
to put me back to GB so I can get the ICS to load. Once I got to the point where I tried to load the Nandroid backup, that's when I went off course. I was downloading the wrong image and needed:
RUBY_ICS_35_S_TMOUS_2.14.531.3_R2_Radio_1.14.550L. 17DC_30.78.550L.15_release_262141_signed.zip
from this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25271457&postcount=1
to get the update process to move forward. Hasoons GUI got me back to rooted and wifi working.
Thanks again!

I bought EVO 3D GSM three days ago updated that on OTA at that time it was on HBOOT 1.53.. later unlocked that and flashed recovery.. flashed SU and then flashed Leedroid tweaks... on that my cellphone got into boot loop... after that i have tried to flash few stock roms as well and few custom roms also but still cant get out of boot loop... please guide me how to come out of this and flash some rom i dont mind stock or any custom but just want to get out of this boot loop.. right now i am still on 1.53 and S-ON
That's the problem with s-on. Some roms are not compatible with s-on. Since your stuck on boot loop there are few options. You will have to flasha rom that is compatible with s-on in recovery. I recommend using 4ext recovery since it has smart flash that let's you flash kernels like having s-off. The problem you are having is that when you flash a Rom in recovery it will not flash the kernel because s-on prevents anyone flashing to the boot partition unless you use 4ext recovery, fastboot or joeykrims flash GUI image. Since you cannot use flash image from being in bootloop. Flashing the recovery from fastboot is your easiest option. I'm not very familiar with gsm so do some research and find the right roms for your current device setup.
---------- Post added at 01:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:29 PM ----------
Just make sure when you boot into recovery, you enable smart flash first before anything. Make a backup as always. Please hit the thanks button if I helped you in anyway.

If all else fails. You could revert back to unrooted stock ics by downloading the right ruu file for your device. Place it on the root of your sdcard and rename it to PG86IMG in all caps. Then relock your bootloader using fastboot. Type fastboot oem lock to do so. The phone will detect this file. Press up to start the update. Of course when its done you just repeat the commands to unlock your bootloader and start fresh all over again.

Flashing RUU returns to out-of-the-box stock?

I'm struggling with all the terminology and methods with flashing. Basically I just wanted root, so I read several different guides and got a rooted status and managed to install the Amon Ra recovery. However my bootloader (also called HBOOT - is that correct?) shows tampered / unlocked now. Basically, I want to flash back to the most current build and try again.
Would the link on the Android Police forums to download RUU 4.03.605.2 be latest Verizon build as if it were fresh out of the box?
I checked on the wiki, but didn't see anything for the Rezound there.
Also, to use this utility, I relock my bootloader using HTCDev and then move this zipped file to my sd card and reboot to the bootloader either using adb or the power + volume down, correct? It will see the zip file and begin flashing or do I run an executable from my PC with the phone connected? I'm not S-Off because I figured that is way above my head at this point.
I appreciate any help anyone can offer.
The tampered just means you have a custom recovery like Amon Ra installed.

Having S-OFF negates the need to relock your bootloader.
You should be able to flash the "RUU" zip file with your phone in its current condition.
If you do some research in this section in the S-OFF threads, you'll get some good info about not re locking after s-off.
Re-locking is only necessary if you don't have s-off.

to reinstall the RUU, first make sure you have fastboot on your PC and your phone is in the fastboot menu of the bootloader and connected to your PC. It should say "fastboot USB". (If you don't have the HTC drivers installed, download HTC Sync 3.0 and that should install it. I haven't gotten it to work on Windows 8 so if you use Windows 8 use these drivers)
Open a command prompt, change the directory to where your fastboot.exe is (example: cd c:\fastboot_directory). Type in 'fastboot oem lock'. Your phone will restart, then boot up. Turn it off, reboot to the bootloader and make sure it says *RELOCKED* on the top. Then, go back to fastboot and in your cmd window, type in 'fastboot oem rebootRUU'. Your phone will reboot and show a black screen with a grey HTC logo. Copy the RUU (doesn't matter if it's named PH98IMG.zip or something else) into the same folder as fastboot.exe and type in 'fastboot flash zip ruu_zip_name.zip' (obviously replacing ruu_zip_name.zip with the zip's actual name). The terminal will start sending the zip and details will be displayed on your computer screen. Your phone will also have a progress bar. Once the terminal on your computer says it's finished, you can reboot your phone.
I am currently S-On, unlocked, running Newts One XXX with the Global OTA (4.03.605) Sense 4 Kernel. I would now like to get the 4.03.605.2 firmware installed. Would the procedure described above work for my situation or is there another method I can use.
My next leap is to go S-off but for now I would just like to get the firmware updated before reflashing Newts.
Thanks in advance.
Yes, you can use the above method fine. However, going S-Off is very easy. It seems like a daunting task, but if you read the directions thoroughly it is very easy. I used the .5 version of Juopunutbear and it worked without a hitch. You are already unlocked and rooted, so if you S-Off, you won't have to do it all over again. From there you can flash the RUU, flash a FLASHABLE version of AR 3.15, then reflash any rom that you want. You will only get the benefit from global with roms that are built aroung the .2 base, but you will get updated radios. I haven't honestly noticed much of a difference with the new radios though.

Flash stock recovery here's a link http://www.mediafire.com/?wb21d2gdurui2c6 then lock bootloader. (Fastboot OEM lock)
After locking bootloader(cuz your s-on) rename the ruu you downloaded from android police To PH98IMG put on your sd return sd phone boot into bootloader run update, if it stops and powers off mid update remove battery and start it again, It flashed the hboot first then you gotta go back In And finish the update.

Also to avoid any problems do a factory reset in hboot after update is installed. Being that we're s-on when we re-unlock it does it for us but I've heard some people are having problems after the ruu if they didn't FDR while on stock recovery.. just a heads up

Also to avoid any problems do a factory reset in hboot after update is installed. Being that we're s-on when we re-unlock it does it for us but I've heard some people are having problems after the ruu if they didn't FDR while on stock recovery.. just a heads up

Just to clarify: when you reboot using "adb reboot" or power + volume down, are you booting into the bootloader or hboot? I've read the guides but still a little confused there.
Also, what does the stock recovery do versus something like Amon Ra? Does the stock recovery allow for creating backups and what-not? Sorry to be a total noob here. I can bake cookies or something for you all for your help, hehe.

Having S-OFF negates the need to relock your bootloader.
You should be able to flash the "RUU" zip file with your phone in its current condition.
If you do some research in this section in the S-OFF threads, you'll get some good info about not re locking after s-off.
Re-locking is only necessary if you don't have s-off.

if you're s-off you shouldn't have to unlock.

The bootloader is the hboot. You power on holding vol down to get there.
The stock recovery does not allow you to create backups, or do much at all I'm pretty sure. That is why we have custom ones.
If i helped throw me a thanks

Sorry that you never got an answer to this. Yes, you should flash both recovery (stock) and the RUU as PH98IMG zip files. Wait to start this process until you have a pc/sd card reader available. Trying this without those basic tools is going to make this a frustrating process for you.

Need assistance ASAP please!!!!!! I'm super nervous!

I was following a tutorial on here about rooting my HTC Evo 3D Rogers, everything went smoothly, except I accidentally typed a wrong command and replaced ClockworkMod Recovery with the boot files... I know I am f***ed.... But I want to know is there anything I can do to hard reset or even replace the boot files if any of you guys have the files? When I boot my phone now, it just loads the HTC welcome screen and goes straight into the ClockworkMod Recovery...
Please, I am so worried about this... Hopefully you guys can help me out...
EDIT: I can still get into the HBOOT by volume down + power button.. hope that helps..

have u tried flash another ROM by CWM...??
or can u stil enter fastboot from HBoot...?? try flash firmware from there...
sorry if i'm wrong.... just trying to help....
I'm not a pro at these things, but I can tell you that I can still open up fastboot,
I just need the original boot files and instructions on how to overwrite my mistaken ones and I think I'm good...
Would you be able to hook me up with those? :l
What's your hboot version and are you s-on or s-off right now?
if you made a backup before doing this you should restore that in recovery. If not then download a rom and flash it in recovery. You might need to flash the boot.img seperately in fastboot if you are s-on

In my Evo, it says:
Shooter_U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT- 1.53.007
eMMC-boot
And also, which rom should I download and how do I flash it in recovery? As I said before, I'm quite a noob at these kind of things :l
Does it say locked or unlocked on the first line? If its locked just run an RUU. This will get you back to stock.

It says unlocked, I unlocked the phone then accidentally changed the boot directory onto the clockwork recovery program ( I assume it overwrote the files )....
I've ran RUU twice and came up with Error 15... (It's the RUU Sprint one though).
First of all your phone is gsm model so don't ever try to run a sprint ruu. That's cdma. Get a rogers ruu. And you have to relock before running ruu

I ran one but it failed so I don't think it mattered too much.
Would there be a link for me to follow the instructions in relocking my phone?
Put your phone in fastboot. The command to lock is "fastboot oem lock" ( without the commas )
---------- Post added at 06:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:06 PM ----------
Look here for ruu

I've gotten the RUU, and you're saying....
I'll put phone in fastboot, plug usb, run "fastboot oem lock"
And where does the RUU come in?
Again, sorry for my inexperienced towards this :/
EDIT: I've relocked my phone but none of the RUUs found on the site seems to be working...
Update: Finally found a RUU that worked after I relocked my phone, thanks Eminem for helping me!!! You are the best!
Glad you got your phone working
just make sure you dont run a wrong command next time
Can you post your solutions on here so other can know too.
I understand most new users don't read threads, but there are those few who do and knowing where you got the RUU to solve your issue would help them a lot.

Alright,
1) I booted into Fastboot, and relocked my phone with the cmd "fastboot oem lock"
2) After relocking, I restarted and went into fastboot USB and ran a RUU found in
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Shooter (be sure to check the version numbers and the branding of the phone, pick the right version is very important!)
3) Phone should take some time to replace all the files and once you restart it it's all back to normal , you can then once again unlock it as you wish.
