I'm using Kii keyboard on my kindle fire with JB 4.2, but my keyboard settings changes every now & then automatically. I set the default keyboard to Kii keyboard, ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zl.inputmethod.latin ) but after a while (or boot) the default keyboard is back to stock.
Any reason for that? Please help.
Thanx.

This is not a problem...
after reboot you need to apply your new keyboard again ... this step is needed for all stock roms ...

First, I don't use a stock ROM.
Second, it doesn't happen when I use for example go keyboard
So anyone know why this keeps on happening?
I'm using this http://goo.im/devs/loosethisskin/otter-cm10.1/ cm-10.1-20130103-2316-otter-sgt7-gcc47.zip ROM.
I had the very same problem and the reason was that Kii keyboard was on my Greenify list.
After I removed Kii from Greenify it has stuck as default like glue.
Aint happenin anymore.
I have the same issue: the (default) stock ROM keyboard changes at every reboot and login! Strangely even when I uninstall the stock keyboard ( I have root) my new default keyboard is also changed by another keyboard that I have installed, but is not the default !?? It looks like that other keyboard (Swype) and the stock ROM keyboard (samsung keyboard) as well as the gboard (as mentioned in the post above) have some special permissions to put them on top... I withdrawed the permissions to change system settings for that keyboard, but still the same strange behavior. Is there a way to change this setting somewhere in the root file system? Thanks!

I've been having an issue getting Thumb Keyboard working with Calkulin's G-Tab ROM. I've tried moving the .apk to system/app with rootexplorer and changing the permissions of it to rw-r-r, but I'm not sure if there's an order I should be following in order to get it installed correctly.
Does anyone have any insight into how to get a keyboard set up with Calkulin's G-Tab ROM? They show up in the settings, but clicking the checkbox and agreeing to the popup doesn't check the box, it remains unchecked and the keyboard cannot be selected as an input method.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have done the same thing, trying to get Swype to work after installing the beta from the swype website. It actually worked swyping 2 words, and then stopped. I am still able to type like a normal keyboard. Moved from data/apps to system/apps - permissions were already changed. Enabled in settings, and then rest the tab. Thoughts?
Simplest way to get a keyboard working in any version of TnT is to go ahead and install the keyboard and then run the the settings replace, and rollback files located here:

You can install the keyboard from the Market, an apk, whatever. To select it you install the settings replace file from clockwork, then boot your tablet and go to settings, language and keyboard, and select the keyboard. After that go back and run the rollback file in clockwork and your TnT settings menu will be back. You need to put the TnT settings menu back or some widgets and other stuff won't work.
It only takes about 1 minute to do this and it works great.. And whenever I say best way... It means best way for me... I'm pretty sure someone will be by to tell me there way is better.. Happens every time

Hello,
I have Saga3D v3 by {PROXUSER} rom and I have some problems with installing alternative keyboard -I don't want to use touch input because of Polish letters in xT9.. When I install e.g. HTC_IME mod or Better Keyboard everything looks fine - I can install it, customize, enable it, but when I want to write something: sms/e-mail etc. I get Touch Input keyboard :/
Does anybody know how to install e.g. HTC_IME on this Rom or how to get rid of Polish letters in xT9 dictionary in Touch Input?
Thanks,

Hello
I am using samsung I9001 with broodROM RC2 on it. After installing there were 3 lauchers aviable: touchwiz 3.0, go laucher and tw 4.5
I was using go laucher, but i wanted to check out tw 4.5, so i set it as a deafult launcher
After seting it, i get black screen and communicate "Application TwLaucher has stopped working ), and it happens all the time... How can i switch to go laucher then??
if you can access the menu somehow /applications/manage applications/tw 4.5
clear defaults
then click home....it should open the launcher selection screen
I know it... But u know, i have black screen, i can' t do anything... Of course i can do factory reset from recovery, but i' ve just installed and copied everything i needed and i don' t want to waste time doing it again :<
EDIT:
Yeah, i did it, it showed go launcher update from market, so i used it and launched go )
Trying for the 1st time this ROM. Flashed it properly though when it starts i got no keyboard. Although android keyboard is available in the settings menu and all settings are accessible, wherever i have to type in something, no keyboard pops. That means i can't even install a 3rd party keyboard, as i can't log the Playstore and cannot search anything. Would install one through CWM, but i don't know any available in that format.
Please advise.
Look at this,maybe

It's just not possible to change them. I've frozed Sony keyboard in titanium backup, restored everything to stock, tried both swiftkey and go keyboard.
Problem is when I installed another application with other smileys, there is correct icons, but when I press them it's the same as default again.
Thanks alot for answer!
Now I also tried to reflash via flashtool. Still same smileys. :I
Its the Android stock smileys, right?
