After preparing sim it says with a "!" on the notification bar "cannot connect to desired network" .Then it means it recognises the sim.

When i prompt a network search it finds all the tree available BG networks and then "unable to connect to this network at the moment"
I just remembered now it didn't ask me to enter pin... so sim card not recognized. Back to FXP CM9

Thats why I asked you. Only solution is to disable pin code in other rom or phone. than it connects normally. You can still use patern as pin alternative, but it didnt secure your sim card if you lost phone or it will be stolen.

I think you should contact your SIM card provider (telephone company) and ask for the unlock code (PUK) which is linked to your SIM card subscription and how to use the code to unlock.
Yes u need PUK code from sim card provider

A SIM card is locked by 2 or 4 passwords
PIN1
PIN2
PUK1
PUK2
PIN1 and PIN2 are programmable by the end user the code is 4-8 digits long usually you have 3 attempts to get the code right, if you lock PIN1 or PIN2 out you then need the PUK1 or PUK2 which is the PIN UNLOCK KEY which is an 8 digit code provided by your Service Provider get this code wrong 10 times and its time to buy a new SIM card
Well this depends on what kind of "lock" you mean. A SIM card can be password protected (usually 3-6 characters long) by going into the Security Settings on your phone which is usually where you can chgange your phone's lock as well if it has one.....if you enable a SIM password this password is saved onto the SIM card itself which is a good security issue because if somebody steals your SIM card they can't just simply put it in a new phone and be ready to go....they'd have to know your SIM password in order to even get the phone to fully load up and connect to the network. Another thing that can be done is a SIM card can be locked due to someone putting in a wrong password too many times....if you ever get to this screen on a cell phone call customer care because if you try too many times you will fry your SIM card which would mean you have to shell out another $20 or so.....if that doesn't sound like what you meant than to my knowledge the answer is no but otherwise I hope this helps
So according to this......
the password is stuck in my x10....
which i cannot erase, or change......
coz my sim is working on other cells.......
so, wat should i do now...???
Plez Got no proper solution till now.....
M restless without my x10.....

[Q] "NO SIM" error when flashing back to stock AT&T

I flashed back to stock at&t ics and modem but the sim card still can't be read. I know the sim works because it works fine in my galaxy nexus.
I have tried flashing all 5 versions of the ICS AT&T modems on the stock rom and I tried flashing "[ROM][MOD] ICS IMM76D UCLF6 - Stock, Rooted, Deodexed + FJ-Mod 7/27/12 *UPDATED*"
But I still get the error of no sim.
In the settings I see the baseband I717UCLF6, Kernel version 3.0.8, Android version 4.0.3, IMEI is fine.
Mobile network type - unknown, service state - out of service, mobile network state - disconnected.
When I go to "Wireless and Networks" and click mobile networks, it says "insert sim card to access network services"
Please help with some ideas on what to do..
Remove the sim card ....wipe all areas of the device ....
Reflash the rom again ....and insert the card ...
You should get restored service ...
If not .....post here again for round 2.....g

wow,
I did the same with fastgsm ( its X Unlock Tool looks incredibly similar to wotans -quite identic?)
And my phone is the Xperia Ray ST18i:
ST18i detects a SIM card when booting, for I have to tip the correct SIM PIN.
Wrong PIN leads to re-asking for PIN.
Right PIN completes booting, but then there is "no SIM detected - insert SIM card and reboot".
No problem, if I only take photos, just use gps and always can use Wifi.
But sometimes I really want to use my phone to make a phone call or use 3G internet connection.
Now I heard something about 'radio something fix' in software.
Even some SIM cards should be unreadable for some ROM ???
Somebody there with more profund knowledge about that?
chorknabe1
btw, DanyBerumen,
might be better to NOT update the firmware over the air FOTA
with this I knocked out my Ray after unlocking with fastgsm.
Fortunately I found a way to fix it again... -but still "no SIM is detected" :crying:

Solved "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"

Hello Everyone, I am using Samsung Ace s5830i and since yesterday I am not able to make any calls, when I try to call a number it says "Mobile Network not available" but I can see good signal strength and I am also able to use GPRS. In the notification area it says "Emergency calls only".
I went to Settings -> mobile networks, when I try to manually select my operator(TATA Docomo, i'm from India) i get the error "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network".
I have removed the sim card, inserted in another mobile, it works fine. When I try try to insert a sim card of some other operator into ace I get the same errors listed above.
These are the things that I have tried.
1. Removed the sim card, battery inserted them back and restarted the phone
2. Restored my Nandroid backup
3. Complete factory reset
None of these worked and still I get the same error.
Information regarding the phone:
Model- Samsung Galaxy Ace s5830i rooted with CWM 5.0.2.6
Android version - 2.3.6
Mobile network type - GPRS
Network- TATA Docomo
Signal Strength - -90dBm
Service state - Out of service
Mobile network state - Disconnected
IMEI - Unknown
I have called Network provider they say fault is with the phone.
Any help would be really appreciated...

Re: Help "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"
Just for the knowledge, what may be the reason for losing imei and does flashing stock rom retrieve my imei.
Sent from my GT-S5830i using xda app-developers app
possible reasons are many...i don't know what files did you flash? (Rom/kernel/scripts)
Cronmod script is known to have this issue...did you flash this script?
Flashing stock rom with odin will give back your imei!
What's your ROM/kernel? and what scripts did u flash?
Re: Help "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"
I am using stock rom. No i didn't flash cronmod script. I'm not sure but i think problems started after installing Online Nandroid backup tool maybe it has installed some scripts, i'm not blaming the tool it is fanastic app to make nandroid backups.
Let me flash custom rom, hope problem goes off.

[Q] LWW: Installed CM9.1, phone now asks for network unlock PIN

Hi there,
So I followed some tutorials here and managed to unlock the bootloader and install CM9.1 and its respective kernel on my SE LWW. However, even though I am using the same SIM card as before, the phone asks for a network unlock PIN after entering the SIM PIN.
Why does this happen? I'm trying to access the same network as before...
What can I do to fix it?
Thanks!
Edit: Uh, curious... If I tap "dismiss" the phone works and connects to the network. Calls, SMS, everything works. Why does it show the message then?

It is a known thing among CM users. This thing has no affect to phone usage whatsoever.
