Hi
I'm not sure where to post this question so I'll post it here. I'm sorry if I'm not posting on a right place.
I recently got LWW wt19i and I'm deeply in love with the phone. The only thing I can't stand is memory! So, I need to root the phone. I read a lot of tutorials but now I'm scared of bricking it! What are the chances for me to do that?
And if anyone can tell me what is the safest way for me to do it? Because I really can't afford to buy another one.
I have:
Android 4.0.4
build number - 4.1.B.0.587
I will appreciate any advice! Thank you very much. )))
If you carefully follow this tutorial here, you will be able to root your ICS WT19i. Don't miss a step mate.
Thank you very much! I'm gonna try this one you gave me.
Well you can't just brick your device by rooting unless you change some system file is not meant to be changed, and even then you can recover your device by flashing stock firmware.

I am using SE LWW n I have one problem in my phone
When I newly brought my phone I was able to like tracks on fb via walkman. But now I am not available to like tracks. Though my walkman player is showing that I have liked tracked there is no such status on my fb profile.
Can anyone help me to solve this problem

I rooted the phone. But now I have another problem. :/
I did this so I can move apps from internal memory to sd. I instald link2sd, make 2 partitions did everything and it's working. I moved all apps to sd, but when I check internal memory it's still almost full!
It shows that I have 312mb used and only 108mb free... It was the same before rooting and moving apps.
Am I doing something wrong or it is not possible to make more space in internal memory?

that's because much of the space is taken by the default apps which come pre installed in the phone........ i would recommend you to unlock the bootloader of your phone and install a custom rom........ you can unlock the bootloader by using "se bootloader unlock relock tool "
and btw there is no way you can permanently brick your phone unless you actually hit your phone to the ground hard and make it a brick
I'll try that
Thank you for the advice.

My x10MP is giving a warning it's running low on internal storage space.
Is there a way to to transfer apps to the SD card w/o rooting the phone?
Any other suggestions on how to free up space in the internal storage?.
TIA,
Mike
i'm afraid u cant without rooting ur phone. or you should be running 2.2+. u have to root to use link2sd.
Thanks. I don't think the x10MP has been updated beyond 2.1, so 2.2+ is not an option.
You could use a custom rom. Even the 2.3.7 versions work really well nowadays. Hard to install without rooting though...
Good luck!

Rooting is pretty much essential if you want to do any sort of fiddling on your phone.
If you haven't rooted yours and you're running low on internal storage, I am willing to bet you've got lots of app's that came pre-installed that you don't need. I rooted mine and removed loads of stuff I had no use for: Timescape, the neo reader, the radio, etc. And I freed up a lot of memory.
Just be careful if you're removing bloatware though, it's all too easy to remove something you actually need. It's worth looking on here for a safelist of app's you can remove.

You don't know what you miss until you stay on the android 2.1 my friend!
I was like regenerated when I installed custom roms on my mini - not only the install of apps on Sd card, but things like overclocking of the processor, freeing more RAM memory would have been impossible without rooting and a custom ROM 2.3.7.
Just think about it - how faster is working a phone with a 600mHz processor, overclocked to 787mHz!
Thanks all for the replies.
I am hesitating to take the rooting + custom rom route, since if something goes wrong I'll be left with an unusable phone.
For the most point, if anything goes wrong, you can simply re-install the official firmware by using SEUS. You'll lose all your personal data on the phone (but not the SD card though, that's safe) so you should make sure you backup before you start doing anything.
You have to do something quite astonishingly silly to hard-brick your phone (basically breaking it so much only SE can repair it) so as long as you take your time and pay close attention to the process, you should be fine.

Make a backup of all your SMS and Contacts using My Phone Explorer. there are a few apps on the market doing backup of applications too, but I'm not sure whether they can backup apps from non rooted phones. After backing up, go ahead through the root process. You will love the CM7 ROM, don't worry! It's far better than the 2.1 Stock Eclair! Just Look at this:
My Mini is far better using CM7 than much more powerful on the hardware point of view other phones. With some other improvements I even achieved a result of 1444! So think about it.
The CPU on my Mini is working at 787mHz, while your stock one works at 600mHz.
Thanks ticklefish & novicebg.
Can you please provide links to:
1. Detailed step-by-step instructions on rooting the x10MP, and
2. Detailed step-by-step Instructions on how to restore the original SE 2.1 ROM, in case something goes wrong?.

Use the search button has more than 1 thread with this!
For the rooting: download SuperOneClick, open it press Root and follow the instructions.
For flashing Kernel and unlocking bootloader follow the instructions in this topic, the first post and the links inside the instructions:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553
For going back to stock ROM - it's easy, download SEUS from SE site, install, open and follow the instructions, as you choose to install firmware although you already have the latest version.
And last but not least - don't be so lazy! We all didn't know what to do here in the beginning, but yet we found what we needed. And you want everything without any effort.
thanks xparia & novicebg.
I wasn't trying to be lazy, just it seems I'm not the first to consider installing a custom ROM, so it seems useful to learn from the experience others have already gained, and summarized as to-do list.
Anyway, this is a list of x10mp roms:

Hi,
sorry for this post but i had to!
Hi Guys,
Finally our tablet has been rooted, lets just list out the benefits of ROOT. My wishlist is as follows:
1. Ability to take screenshot.
2. Change fonts.
3. WhatsApp. (Success) CLICK HERE
4. Use Xperia Arc Timescape/Launcher, etc.
5. Moving game date to external SD card.
I can use AdFree t oget rid of all the stupid adds that takes cpu-power.
I can use Titanium Backup Pro and it's full power.
Root Explorer
I can get rid of stupid bloat-ware that is filling up precious storage-space.
Hopefully this can lead to maybe an unlocked bootloader to able recovery and custom-roms
To name a few things
Increase battery life with build.prop and sysctl.conf tweaks.

You can do this using Root Explorer.
Navigate to; system/ create a new folder called app.old.
Then navigate to system/app and pull all of the system apps that you don't want, move them into app.old folder you just made.
By doing that they are then uninstalled, freeing up valuable space. You could always copy them to your SDCARD then onto your PC, I wouldn't delete them as they may be needed again.
I'd like to post a "Tweak you Sony Tablet S" thread at some stage with a custom homescreen theme and system tweaks.
Yep, looking forward to getting rid of all the Sony junk off it!
Root's failed for me though, been on XDA for a while, but not got my 10 posts yet to report it in the dev forum!
I think we can now look for a way to use the microUSB port as micro HDMI. I read some where that it can be done if we have root access!

I hope to see some Custom ROMs !!!!
Do note, if ICS comes behind the corner tomorrow (not that it will, but whatever), I'll prefer that above root. For all Root has to offer right now. A good custom rom might turn me over ;p

Having root available changes the game.
If ICS OTA update removes the root (which is very likely to happen), then it will be possible to figure out manual update to ICS, which saves root rights.
I've seen it happenning on HTC View, where expoit was only available for GB, and then there was a way to update to HC and still have root rights. Not thru OTA though.

link2sd shows internal/external built in memories and does not look at the physical sd card - so I could not make it work. maybe someone will do an extra script to mount physical sd instead of built-in one and not as sdcard2 - I saw a post about it for rooted tranformer or similar honecomb but cannot find it again yet - good night

can y'all please do some research......
ROOT IS NOT UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER
TO INSTALL CUSTOM ROM / CUSTOM RECOVERY NEEDS UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER
Yes root is great and it probably helps but its a separate issue to getting custom roms
nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
so with this root, can i store games on the external SD card and play it off the external SD card?
Allright, so we got root now! I really enjoy it, since I had struggles with some bloody sony software...
But! What would make me really happy is an unlocked boot loader... So maybe someone who can post in the devs section can copy my post! But I'd like to pledge 15 dollar for the one who can unlock the boot loader
Maybe this is the way to speed things up, and we can run custom roms! So we don't need sony's ICS update. And we won't lose root when it is coming
Greetz!
Now the XT532 (taiwan version) can be rooted, I am interested to know what can be removed. On the internal memory, it states is has 160Mb available of which 95 is already used by the applications on the ROM. So I only have 65Mb available for new programs. I try to move as much as possible to the SD-card, but still i run into the limits very fast.
But how do I know what can be removed safely?
Any hints? Also, a total of 160Mb seems quite low for a phone which is listed as 500Mb ROM/ 500Mb RAM. How is that calculated? Is the other 340 all occupied by Android?
Hello ,
I have the XT530 had the very same problem.. first the best option is to install Titanium Backup ( its worth buying it) and then backing up all of your system applications.
Then you can atleast safely remove all applications like the Qik,RSS, weather, Connected Music Player, just make sure you dont remove any of the Account and Sync, Motoswitch, Camera, Phone, GPS , Bluetooth, SMS, Calendar, etc. be very careful when uninstalling system applications.
After this you should use Link2SD with partitioned SD card so that you can run all of your applications from the SD card and save internal Memory. check this guide >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254987
I would like to ask a favour We are trying to make a custom kernel for the XT530, XT531 and XT532 based on the XT532's original kernel that is why we would be very happy if you could please share a ROM dump of your phone.
This will also hopefully help us in porting ICS to our phones ..
Thank you !

Hey no im not really a developer this is my first Android phone and im just disappointed with the kind of support that this phone is getting so im working with other devs to try and get some custom roms and kernels for this phone . Yeah I too have uses link2sd to free up space have abt 100 apps and still 50 mb free !! ... abt titanium backup im not sure it seems to be working fine for me.
You could start a new thread and post a tut with screenshots it will be very helpful for others with the internal memory problem ... also if more ppl who have this phone show interest in it then we might get some developers support but right now we have to work amongst ourselves and see what we can do!

Hi, I'm new with this galaxy GT-S5830i and have to try to flash a new rom but I don't know this mobile and its characteristics.
I only understood the recovery is temporary but no, beetween many things, when to root/unroot it if is necessary. I'd like to know even the possibility to install apps in sd ext( I read many way to proceed). And all I' ve forgotten to write down.
Very very thanks who will give me a hand.
@ Giobio, well this post has been considered a good start. Possibility of moving your applications apk + dex + lib files through app such as link2sd ( rooting is required/works on stock/custom mod) is always possible. You can freely move your application to the second partition and creates symbolic links in the original locations on internal storage with ease mate. Even you could remove /data/data directory in paid version, but it would slow down your SD card non-FAT file system, not recommended. Integrate update into system is also accessible in your rooted device. and so much more you could accomplish,,,Instruction was given here was quite simple for start.
