Ok so i was wondering if LG updates their phones often?
I know Motorola sucks at updating, even their flagship phones.

Most manufacturer's except Nexus phones are not updated "often." LG's track record with updates is not so good.

Ya, LG I would say is the last in the pack. Motorola is doing pretty good lately with their newer phones. They lightened up the skin a lot and have less work to do. There was an article that came out not too long ago that mentioned morotola saying they wanted to just do aosp on at least some phones, but manufacturers wanted skins so they can so difference in comparison to other androids. And embedded bloat.

Except we are getting Jelly Bean through LG no doubt. It's really more up to AT&T timewise.
Here's a report I saw yesterday: Android update report card
I believe I saw the link on FB yesterday, though cannot recall. Not a lot of good grades out there. Surprise, surprise.
I'd be very surprised if we didn't get Jelly Bean but it's happened before, lol.

Ummm the OG2 is purely speculation at the moment. So you're wrong. Nanner nanner nanner. No one will know anything about that phone other than rumors until MWC.
Um you gave up on LG? Hm interesting you own a Nexus 4. Just saying these statements just totally completely discredited anything you will ever have to say about anything regarding a mobile device.

Ive decided to go elsewhere as well, but thats just because I go through phones like crazy. This phone will be perfect once it gets some CM10.1 action!

The thing that kills me, and this isn't an attack, is that a lot of people are like "I would NEVER get this phone because it's made by this!"
Like me, I personally don't like Samsung. And I make it a point to not buy their phones.
Sony's I have no experience with and I've only had an LG twice (this phone and a flip phone when I was 14).
But my point is people say they hate LG for whatever reason and then sell this phone and by the N4, which yknow, made by LG.
Again, not at attack! I was simply doing research on when the N5 was coming out and all these people are like, I HATE LG, NEXUS ALL THE WAY (sent from my N4). It's just laughable.

Could be a little nicer though.
They haven't made the perfect phone yet, but I chose the OG because of all the various shortcomings out there, the lack of software updates seemed to be the easiest to fix (with the help of the awesome devs!). Once that darn sourse code comes out, we'll be sitting pretty. I can wait for that. No amount of waiting was going to put more storage in the Nexus 4, and that, to me, was important enough of a feature to forgo the increase in software updates.
As far as I can tell, that and the weak camera are the only real knocks against the OG. Every other phone I compared it to had at least one fatal flaw:
SG3 -- US version only has a duel core processor and AMOLED display (I got rid of my SG2 because of screen burn in; no more OLEDs )
OneX+ -- "Only" 1GB of RAM and not crazy about the looks (I'll be honest, I almost pulled the trigger on this one)
DNA -- Don't have Verizon where I am, and the puny 16GB of storage on a device that's touted as a media machine is rediculous (how much 1080p HD video can you shoot with that thing if you have any decent amount of apps/ROMs/nandroid backups?).
N4 -- As stated above (twice) 16GB of storage just ain't enough for me.
Feel free to flame away, but these are my reasons for picking the OG. I am a little worried of what happened to my SG2 happeing to my OG; less than six months after getting a "flagship" phone, they release a new flagship. That's just a crappy thing to do to your customers.

They or any other phone manufacturer never will. Perfection is completely subjective. I chose the OG because I wanted to try something new. I am keeping it because the music player doesn't effing skip like both of my HTC and Samsung devices did. That's a deal-breaker for me. I don't have an iPod or similar device so my phone is my music hub.

The Thrill came out in Sept. of 2011 with Froyo, with the promise of Gingerbread "within a month". They finally got that update in March of 2012. The international version JUST got ICS in Nov of 2012, but the Thrill is dead in the water.
For everyone making fun of the people who swore "Never LG!" and went to the Nexus, well... MOST people have an issue with LG's update policy. Take their software out of the way, and they'd have no issue getting an LG made phone. With Google handling the updates, I can see their point.
Personally, I fixed LG phones for a long time and I have a serious issue with their build quality, not their software. I'll always put an AOSP rom on my phone, so yeah, not too concerned there. My issue is that they always seem to skimp out on building their phones correctly.
- The LG Rumor's charging port was so poorly soldered on, if you sneezed near it, it would snap off. The Flex cable would also break... Our district would replace these phones with the Rumor 2, no questions asked. We were p[romised that the 2 would solve these issues.
The Rumor 2 fixed this with MicroUSB, but the engineers had the flex cable between the two halves of the phone rubbing against metal. Eventually, the phone would short out, almost every one.
-The Optimus S was basically disposable. My girlfriend went through 9 of them before we ditched Sprint for AT&T. Granted, it was a low end phone, but still...
- When I got the Thrill, the first one got so hot (just web browsing) that it would reboot. The second did the same. The third got so hot, the adhesive around the screen MELTED and dripped down the inside of the glass.
Look, the build quality issues are still present. The scratching AND cracking glass issue, the overheating, the reboots into "demigod" mode, etc etc. Then you take the Nexus which has the speaker issues, the glass, the yellowing screen (is that an issue with the OG too?)... Can you blame someone for doubting LG? The best compliment I can give is that the OG and the Nexus have me wanting the phone DESPITE my nightmare experiences in the past. And honestly, considering my stance on LG, that's a huge compliment.

While I see the point on they're older phones (friends had them and they sucked) I have had no issues on my OG. No reboots, no overheats on "demigod," even worked fine for a few days without thermal throttling. Dropped it on tile from a few feet up and nothing cracked, but I have a case now anyways. The people reporting these issues may have duds, or are irresponsible. While I was extremely scared of going with LG because of their past, I believe they picked it up on the OG. They're getting serious after the Nexus deal, and are trying to take a spot in the top tier with Samsung now, so I would expect them to be very careful in how they handle their new phones figuring Google is trusting them with the Nexus and Qualcomm to show off the S4 Pro. If they screw it up, they lose their shot.
All the issues with the OG, I pulled from these forums. You can't really place overheating as "irresponsibility", and how many tech blogs have gone on to mention the cracked glass? Hell, they're even saying that using the phone then putting it on a room temperature countertop will crack the glass. These are from trusted sites, and trusted bloggers. Again, it was LG putting out an amazing device and then shortchanging it horribly in one way or another.

So, with the chance of getting flamed or... flaming myself depending on the reaction to this. SprintFeed apparently got word that the Galaxy S II will be hitting Sprint first, on September 9th, ahead of all other carriers.

Just thought any defectors would like the heads up. I personally am sticking with my 3Devo.
From the screenshots it looks to be the same phone. No concrete answer on if it's packing a Snapdragon which had been rumored or if it's sticking with Exynos. *Shrug* guess we shall find out.

Damn Sprint is on a roll. Hopefully they get the Nexus Prime when it comes out. That's the only phone I'm interested in. The GS2 should of came out earlier. Samsung waited to long in my opinion, But nevertheless Sprint has a good line up this year.

Yeah, the only reason I can see why they waited was because of the pressure from Apple and it's "your phone looks like mah phone!" 6-year old meltdown of a lawsuit that has been going on. I dunno.

I was going to go the SGS2 route but it's just too little too late. The E3D in modded form can outpace a stock SGS2 easily...and the nPrime is right around the corner.
I used to love HTC and I've really grown to like the E3D General forum, y'all is cool peoples (most of the time)...but aside from the unlock fiasco I can't stand the ****ty radio and the strange behavior when powering on/off really makes me feel like one day it won't turn back on again....especially when I've seen it happen right in front of me.
...but I sure as hell will not post a thread here about it. Nothin' personal OP, just sayin'...

Well, I know a lot of people aren't happy with the Evo 3D, I decided to drop this nugget and see how it went. Like I said, I'm happy with my evo. My Radios don't suck too bad, only thing I have issue with is a Black SOD every 9hrs when using a custom kernel... which I can workaround with a stock kernel.
You're post is a little confusing. so... you're waiting for the nPrime?. that's how it sounded. That's looking to be an October release, it's being made by Samsung too. Which I find odd, I would think Motorola would be involved. I know it was just recently announced that Google was going to buy them, but...I assumed it was in the making to be some big lead up. oh well, probably next year.
I'd think I'd like it more if it didn't look like the iPhone had a retarded son.

Thank god I don't get the Black SOD...
Yeah, I'm waiting for the nPrime. It's being made by Samsung which, while at first really put me off but I did sport an NS4G for a few weeks last month. Aside from feeling cheap and too light--which most people wouldn't see as a down side--it was actually a fantastic phone. Great battery life, phenomenal camera and an unmatched Android experience. It did have the traditionally weak Samsung radio, but, it seems that you can't escape that anymore.
...and so far as Motorola is concerned Google has assured it's partners that the bidding process for the Nexus line would in fact remain the same. Google is saying all but "listen, we bought MMi for the patents. The Set-top-box and mobile manufacturing is just a plus, that we don't intend to use." Of course time will tell how true that is. For the time being I believe them.
However a Motorola built Nexus would probably be fantastic as long as they ditch that ****ty Pentile screen technology. I bet they would have class leading radios and battery life too.

Yea MOTO isn't far from being a great phone manufacturer..they do have pretty good build quality and their radios are bar none..they have been in that game for a while..ditch all MOTO blur or map and the pentile..add some Google magic and we could have a winner in a few months.

Agreed. Their designs are a bit stodgy looking, but their hardware (aside from those horrible screens and penchant for keyboards) is rock solid. They nearly invented cellular mobile phone technology. They have been doing mobile communications for as long as there has been a commercial mobile communications market. Their radios are fantastic. Build quality is always awesome. How many OG Droids do you still see around? Tons...and I have seen a lot that are beaten to death physically but still kicking ass, 2nd hand, 3rd hand...that says quite a bit.
Without knowing anything about the contents of their patent portfolio I am confident that it contains thousands of very relevant patents. I can't wait to see Google's next move.
I came from the Epic 4G to the Evo 3D. The main thing about Samsung was there slowwwwww release of updates. The Epic 4G rolled out with Eclair, took a while to get Froyo and is still awaiting Gingerbread. This really seem slow down ROM and kernel development. HTC seems pretty spot on with their OS updates.
I am waiting to see if Samsung support for their phones has improved. If it has, maybe I would consider going back. Until then, my Evo 3D is the shizzle.

Feel free to submit your thoughtful replies. Immature, irrational comments will be ignored.
I don't really disagree with your assessment. Over the last year and a half vzw has turned into att lite, and HTC has just screwed its customers every chance it has gotten. It left the EVO view/flyer, jetstream on their current buggy ass builds of hc, they've might as well given up on updating their phones, as they wait so bloody long to do so, then they have bowed to vzws every demand. I will definitely be leaving both Verizon and HTC at the end of the year when the new nexus device hits. (assuming it does hit then) to me it seems like vzw got the iphone and immediately quit worrying about how to bring in new customers and keep their current ones happy. I'm probably going to go to tmo and stick with unlocked unbranded phones.

Just because you put a custom rom on doesn't me it voided your warranty its a possibility but not a guarantee if you know what your doing. I agree with most your points, but I got the phone for $150 off CL (because he wanted an ics device instead, LOL) so not only did I get a great deal on a mint condition phone because it didn't have ics on it but then I went home and slapped it on myself from xda. So in a way I kinda like that Verizon/Htc hasn't released ics yet. Plus its cool knowing your one of only a few thousand people that have a rezound with ics. I just wished the would give up the source code for the kernel already.
At this point the only way I'm buying another HTC phone is if it is a Nexus device. After coming from the Motorola "OG" Droid, I can't stand the indifference these companies seem to have towards us. If HTC would've been more communicative with us, telling us what is going on instead of giving us some vague release date, I might've given them some credit.
Poop!
I consider that neither immature nor irrational.

It doesn't matter if this was a Samsung, Motorola, or LG, all companys treat their customers this way. Seems to be an industry standard. All big red does is interfere with this further with all the bloat they require. All I'm saying is HTC is not unique in how they handle themselves. I started with a Samsung Omnia (windows based), then got a Fascinate, Charge, and now Rezound. The Rezound is hands down the best phone I've had. Both the Fascinate and Charge suffered radio problems and if you read the Nexus forums they complain about the same thing. This also steered me away from the SGIII. Still a Samsung product.
Just my 2 cents......

While I agree that the rezzy is by far the best, I still wish I hadn't further supported HTC due to the way they are handling the tablet issue, and now the updates on the Rezound. And honestly I don't hold my breath for us getting jb. Honestly I think it will be like the tbolt is right now with Ics. Just a functional rom without a cellular modem. Which is sad given how incredibly much I like the phone itself. But the only way to get (insert mobile headset maker here) attention is to stop buying their products they won't support once they leave the shelf. And Verizon lost me when they axed unlimited data grandfathering. But then won't give me a discount for not buying a subsidized device. (ala tmo) so, I just can't continue to support companies that continually screw us the customer over.

Why do people get so "angry" or "furious" because there's no software update and says the manufacturer is horrible? Last time I checked the rezound cane out of the box with everything working. It's funny how people want everything....patience is key.
The update is a luxury not a necessity. Should I get mad at Microsoft because Windows 8 isn't out officially. The product they already released does everything I need for the time being.
Also, why would you want a company to rush a product? Try rushing your barber to finish your haircut quickly and see what happens. It seems very childish to get mad at a manufacturer for a SIMPLE update that is coming SOON.
The people of today...always wanting everything NOW.

I think some of it is symptomatic of the market. Handset makers are pushing out new devices every 4 to 6 months, and it stops being cost effective to update them all. Which sucks for us, but it makes good business sense.
If they would only push out source, RIL included, it just wouldn't matter.

All that you're saying sounds good and all but that argument is tired. If htc says we're giving ics, we expect it. And with barbers you see progress and know it's happening. You don't see him pausing your haircut after telling you 2pm to go work on someone elses and then coming back to your at damn near 1:58. Or him giving you a fresh haircut then ignoring you after you ask him to touch up your hairline after you paid him.

It's the whole thing of lying to the consumers that pisses people off, not necessarily the lack of updates IMO. If HTC had never mentioned that we were getting ICS there wouldn't be so much *****ing and moaning because people wouldn't expect it. When I got the Rezound back in November, I was told that it would have it by January. Here we are almost 8 months later with still no update. HTC has had it ready for months but Verizon refuses to push it out until they're ready. It's not the same thing as your Windows 8 analogy because the transition from Windows 7 to Windows 8 is paid for. It'd be more like you buy a computer with Windows 7 and a few months down the road your PC manufacturer says "We're not going to release any new drivers for your hardware, sorry." then MS says "We're not going to release any updates to Windows 7 for you anymore, sorry. Please buy Windows 8 to get the latest bug fixes."
I gotta say HTC and Verizon really ****ed this up. I've had good experiences with HTC before, but they are just so Hit-or-miss that it isnt even funny. Verizon... POS. Come november when my contract is over, I'm going to get whatever is the next nexus device (if its HTC then awesome) on AT&T
I don't really care for the official ICS because I am already enjoying ICS with sense 4 with Newts One XxX. However, it pisses me off to see that the rezound is still without official ICS. I don't think anything can justify this, other than than Verizon trying to promote other phones and not caring about a phone because it was not branded "Droid". The Droid razor already has ICS and I dont see why the Rezound still waiting. And what's more frustrating is the silence of the two companies... They simply don't care about what the customers think...
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
I would have to say the rezound has been the worst experience I have ever had with a HTC phone. It seems that since the HTC One series drop nothing else matters to HTC. I hate to say it but this may very well be my last HTC handset. I need a phone that I can compile the source on my own I guess.
Edit:
I see a lot of blame on Verizon but I don't believe (and I maybe wrong) any other HTC handsets have ICS either like the EVO3D (were I came from).
Why even push an update now that isn't even an update? It needs to have sense 4, IMO that would make it worth the wait, and get customers more excited and loyal towards HTC products. But nope. Gonna be sense 3.6 lol. Meh w/e they have been shooting themselves in the foot lately. All of them have in a way. Samsung used to be terrible with updates but not so much anymore... Their phones are just iffy, radios and such...

I don't think they are working on anything. Con247 believes that the last leak was the final version. If he is correct then they (probably Verizon) have been just sitting on it. That to me would be total BS.

Oh I'm almost 100% sure Verizon is the MAIN problem. HTC has probably had it done for quite some time now but I'm sure Verizon keeps rejecting and making them lock stuff down more, while promoting other phones in the meantime. This last leak is almost perfect, and how long have we had it now?
Yep, crazy.
I called them up and they told me that the X2 was no longer made so I could have a "similar device", the system told him the 2 closest options were the Droid 3 and the Incredible 2. I was assuming from the beginning that I was going to end up with an Inc2, so I simply asked, "What about a Nexus?" He said, "OK, Let me check on that". I was shocked to even hear him say he'd check on it but I was still totally expecting to be shut down. He comes back on the line and says, "Yeah, we can do that, let me check our stock". Takes another minute and he comes back and says "Yeah, we got that in stock and we will send it out to you, overnight with Saturday delivery". And said it would come along with a SIM card, wall charger, car charger and headphones. I couldn't believe it! :victory:
I was still a little doubtful, I was thinking that this was all too good to be true and I would end up with some other phone at my door today. NOPE. It was a brand new Nexus with everything he said. Awesome!
Not sure if anyone else will possibly get the same treatment I did, but I guess it never hurts to ask. haha :good:

I, for one, AM NOT jealous of ANY of you nexus or S3 totting people. I know my patience will pay off big time. You see, in just under a year a new slew of phones will arrive with a more mature Snapdragon architecture or a Tegra with LTE... And then, there will be a nexus with Key Lime Pie out! And then, I can be happy with that for 2 years.. You are going for a phone that already past its prime! While I can continue to enjoy Jellybean on my Dinc2, same as you, I realize that down the line the next phone will be better suited and more future proof than the Gnex.
Bottom line, I guess we should pick when to enter the game and at what cycle of the year to upgrade for the best future-proofness and fun to be reaped from our Android purchases!
Anyway, since this Nexus is a free replacement, I agree that u just don't caya!

Really? I sense a bit of jealousy in your post... haha
But yeah, as far as I am concerned, the Nexus is still the 2nd best phone offered by Verizon right now. I wouldn't touch any of the stupid Razr variants and the clear best phone is the S3. Besides, like you said, great phones will be out next year, the Nexus just needs to get me through about a year and I am due up for renewal. This device will get developed on for a LONG time. Whoop!

Suit yourself. I am really NOT jealous. It may seem so, but that is because I am kinda sick of people saying over and over and over that they got a gnex and they are lucky. I am happy for them, but at the same time I am not jealous. I may have been jealous back in June or so. But now, getting a Gnex is not a big deal as I know the next Nexus is gonna come soon. Plus part of the point I am making is to let people understand what they are getting themselves into. Yes, Gnex is cool, but at this point even a VZW Gnex is having OTA troubles... Troubling for a nexus. Plus with the next nexus coming soon, the timing to get a gnex is not great. Think of it this way. The number of "new" major OTAs that the gnex will get will be lesser than that for the next guy as it is already down its support cycle. It is at its middle or actually probably past its peak. Plus the Gnex has some known issues and I am all together not so enthused to get a Gnex when I know a few more months of wait and I can get a much better phone. And a phone that is fresh in its software support even from Google...
So it makes sense to wait to get a new phone IF you are doing so buy using up an upgrade. However, I agree in ur case as u got it on insurance, this won't matter to u...
Bull**** you aren't jealous. You made a thread (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586153) in April specifically about how you were so excited to get a new phone and get away from the X2. In fact you told people in the thread to directly lie to the Ascurion (multiple times) in order to get a different device.
You bashed the Samsung Fascinate, then the D3 for the locked bootloader and no confirmed (at the time) ICS, and then lauded the D Inc2 because of the unlocked bootloader and ICS.
You would have **** yourself if they gave you a Galaxy Nexus.
You're probably just pissed that your constant complaining and lying didn't get you any further than the OP who just happened to stumble into this kick ass replacement.
Edit: Almost forgot. I think it's hilarious that you're trying to bash the GNex for the lack of OTA support from VZW. I can't remember the last time I actually waited for an OTA. LOL

Ah, how I pity you mere mortal. Read carefully. I asked no one to lie to anyone. I asked no one to call "Asurion". I don't even know who they are. I asked people to call to VZW as WE are within our god damn rights to request a different phone if the one we have doesn't work as we are within the 1 year warranty. I scammed NO ONE. I just allowed people to get a problem solved, in the fairest and most just manner in the light of how VZW and Motorola are ripping their customers off with subpar products.
And neither there do I specifically talk fondly about the Gnex. I never told people I got a gnex nor did I tell they will get a Gnex with this process....
So, before you start spewing foul language at me, without being provoked, slap yourself real hard on the face so that you knock yourself out and avoid typing a ridiculous post. Anyway, I suppose it was my mistake to make a friendly comment on a random thread. I apologize to thy greatness, you won't be seeing me here anymore!
Plus I am NOT bashing the Gnex. I see a LOT of people on the Dx2 forums that constantly praise their Gnex and I just said, it is great but "meh" I can wait for the next one that will be coming round the corner. I only said that in light of this info, there is no particular reason to go the present gnex IF you can wait for the next one, that will mostly be better than this is every way...
Long story short... Take some things on XDA at face value. Stop investing sooo much g-damn emotion into a inanimate object...
Ah screw it, you pissed me off sufficiently to say the next line (I hope you enjoy it)
Gnex is utter crap compared to iPhone 5 and iPhone will always rule. And Apple will ultimately destroy Android to make possession of Android illegal...
I hope that makes u super mad.
Okay let's be honest here the nexus isn't nor hasn't nor will it be the last phone that Verizon HDS back updates from.
As far as the next nexus goes. Who knows when it will be here. Nothing concrete yet. Even if it does come out soon, most if not all of us previous X2 owners got it free of charge. I mean it's simply really. I'll write you a mini guide right meow.
-Unlock X2
-dial 611
-wait to hear the words "main menu"
-press 00
-tell Verizon rep that your phone is suffering from random reboots, lag and poor signal.
-explain that when texting someone the screen will freeze up completely but if you keep typing the message after 20 seconds or so it will catch up And the entire message will be written up in a half a second
-explain to them that it suffers from reboots during calls (my x2 did this all the time) and ask them politely if they could call you back if your call gets disconnected. Feel free to disconnect the call if you want the added effect - wait for the callback and tell then sorry it rebooted. This happens all the time
-tell them that the phone lags while trying to play games, multitask or navigate the menus/app drawer
Now tell them that you have been online independently researching these issues and it would seem that x2 users worldwide have the same issues and they are not specific to your device. Make sure you help them to understand that these are issues due to poor coding from Motorola and no amount of x2s they send you will ever solve the problems you are facing.
Make sure to explain to them what you use your phone for. For example if you use it for work and you can't have a phone that constantly reboots during calls because then it becomes an issue w/ your employer.....blah blah blah.
Just make sure you go into the call being as nice and polite as possible. If they detect even a slight hint of anger frustration or sarcasm in your voice they will not help you.
If you followed all of those steps correctly - you have just been offered a new phone model! Congrats

Sorry, i found that hilarious
Congrats to OP!
And of course there is always gonna be another awesome device soon. Well, an awesome nexus that is and ice already started saving for it. Soon as it drops I'm buying that bad boy!
So off course if you can wait, and can afford it, then wait for the next nexus. Or just get yourself a nexus 7 to hold you over. Either way, everyone should experience a nexus device of some kind
Just saying. Love the x2 for introducing me to Android and this awesome community, and in the process showed me what the nexus line is. Love Android. Any Android. Android FTMFW all day over any iDevice.
Sorry lol, I'm just trolling my old stomping grounds lol.
I've noticed that the DNA is NOT on the HTC website nor has Verizon done ANY TV Advertising for this phone. They normally swarm the airwaves when a new phone comes out, like they're doing right now with the HTC Windows Phone. Why is that? Is this like a "Test" phone to see if HTC will make a strong comeback with Verizon?

This isn't at all uncommon. Samsung sinks a ton of money into advertising. As does Apple. And it works. Even among my relatively technically savvy friends, they consistently think that the best device out there is going to be either Apple or Samsung. They are barely even aware of HTC. HTC needs a strong advertising campaign, and until they are willing to put money into that, they will never be as prominent as Samsung.
Quietly Brilliant.

imo they aren't really that tech savy if they judge things by tv commercials - most of which have no real specs in them. But yeah, HTC needs to advertise more. My Incredible wasn't advertised enough either.

I went to every authorized vzw dealer in my town on black Friday. mybullfrog.com store, Verizon kiosk in the mall and two separate best buy mobil locations where literally none of the sales people had even heard off the DNA.. finally I broke down and went to our corporate vzw store ( I've had customer service issues with them) and even there the sales rep knew almost nothing about it but they did have it.. it did seem like they aren't hyping it like others have been.. Bionic was all over the media. Not sure if this is good, bad or if it even matters.. just an observation.. although I kinda had to educate the vzw rep on the phone which is a little funny.

I've seen it happen with plenty of other phones I've had in the past. The LG Nitro HD and Samsung Infuse 4G both spring to mind. The Infuse 4G was the first phone with a 4.5" screen - kind of a Galaxy S1.5, and the Nitro HD was the first with a 1280x720 display. They were both fantastic phones that performed well, but never had much of a following because no one was talking about them (except me). When manufacturers put out something that is the first of something, they don't necessarily put a lot of money behind marketing it because the public may not buy into whatever they are selling - and if they create a lot of hype for something that falls flat it has a much worse influence on later products. It is a timid approach to be sure, and they will never topple Apple with that attitude, but it's a common approach nonetheless.
For us, the biggest issue is that it could impact developer support. Personally, I'd love to see a Viper ROM for this phone, but if not enough people get one, the Viper Devs may not bother.
That's a good point... I always tend to go after the "latest greatest tech" rather than what is "popular" haven't had a device officially supported by the cyanogen guys since the Droid 1 ha. I'd love to see more dev's getting on the DNA train but for once I am actually content with a phone as is (except the constant wifi notification and the bloatware) but I have fixed that with the mod's. I honestly would be okay with not having any aosp roms or even custom sense roms at this point... I am very happy with this phone.
One thing I am seeing more and more though is how some apps seem to react weird to the screen resolution. Not a huge deal but it is definitely something I could see people freaking out about had HTC really boosted the hype of this device.. All in all I am glad I got the DNA, as long as stock updates (android 4.2... Etc.) don't take too long, like many HTC devices do, I will be very happy with this phone
Yep.

Absolutely.
I do not like the lighting on the phone. Makes the phone appear to be made of glossy plastic on the front. Also, the display looks like a cheap sticker on the front. I know the shot is not of the actual phone, but it does the actual display no justice.
Basically, if I saw this press shot when this device was being rumored, I would not have got as excited as I did with other leaked shots. Just a personal indifference.

Actually the Rezound was the frist 720p device by a few weeks and HTC website and the VZW stores were going crazy. There display model had a huge sign over it with the specs with beats and 720p in bold along with an over ear beats headset next to it for you to try out beats. Why can't they do that with the DNA. Even the One X got a lot of advertising. I think it is VZW that really is in control with all this.

Good call. I always had a tendency to dismiss Verizon's wares because they used to lag behind what was available on GSM networks. (I used to just import all my phones from overseas, since they would come out there months, and sometimes even years, before they made it over here.)
I believe VZW is down playing HTC devices now in general. After the Thunderbolt and ReZound debacles. No upgrades/long waits for upgrades. (More VZW's fault than HTC's...) Mediocre if not bad battery life stock. Truthfully I think HTC devices have been a headache of sorts for VZW minus the Incredible series. I just think VZW tech support is happier if more people owned more "user friendly" phones instead of lots of people owning HTC phones complaining about battery life, heat issues, slow/late updates, or just plain lack of updates. HTC is possibly tired of VZW as well. VZW not picking up the One series and stalling updates to add bloat or tweaks to already released phones doesn't help. HTC's Facebook page was getting pummeled with request for information on updates for the T-Bolt and ReZound, but even with VZW in control most people painted HTC as the bad guy.
Plus business-wise is supporting a hurting company like HTC a good investment if you can make more promising investments on thriving comapnies like Samsung and Motorola? If HTC does go under it won't hurt VZW one bit, so why would they care.
I have in my possession two (2) 64gb HTC Ones, and both of them are plagued with various issues. From poor battery life that is not consistent with what's being reported here, to random reboots, to build issues. For a "gapless" device, there sure are an awful lot of gaps all over both of these things. On both devices, there is quite literally a defect on every single piece that makes up the body of the device. HTC designs the best looking devices hands down, but when I look back at every HTC device I have had, they've all had build quality issues. My Hero, Evo 4G, Evo 3D, One X, and now the One- all had blatant build problems. HTC really needs to get their act together. That said, I still love the One, I think it is hands down the best phone ever made (save for my old trusty Panasonic Duramax), it just has too many issues right now. So, I am returning both of the Ones that I have (that I paid full price for, mind you) with hopes that when the black model becomes readily available, those build issues will have been corrected. Some of you here know (*cough*Gunnyman) that I am kinda anal about my phones (went through 5 or 6 One Xs) and I just can't justify spending $700 on a device that isn't perfect. I have way too much money tied up in these phones ($1400 for cell phones, whaaaat) for me to settle on one that is less than perfect. For what its worth, if my first One had good battery life and didn't freeze and reboot on me I probably would have kept it, build issues notwithstanding. The second one I got doesn't reboot, but has terrible gaps and edges so that's a no go for me. I am absolutely dreading going back to my iPhone 5 but it must be done. For now. I am without a doubt going to be trying this again with the black model.
Anyways, that's my rant. Ta-ta. Flame away.
Garrrr. I was hoping you'd start chiming in on different cases for the one similar to your time with the one x. I'm having a hard time deciding lmao.
See you back soon.

If you SERIOUSLY think you are ever going to get any device without any issue you're very very far-off from reality. Every phone has one defect or another, yes even the iPhone 5 has issues. Pretty serious ones too.
Well, in an effort to solidify my decision I went to best buy and played with the black sprint one..... and I like the silver better. Not to mention that I really, really, REALLY can't stand the iPhone and LOVE the One. So call me fickle, but I have now decided on keeping the replacement that I got haha. I now, I'm pathetic. So the good news is I AM sticking with the one. So yeah, this rant was for nought. I do believe that HTC needs to get their crap together though. I'll probably make another warranty claim in a month or so lol. As far as getting a phone with zero defects is concerned- they are out there. I just need to hunt them down. My last One X (out of the 5 I had) was damn near perfect. I love that thing. If they came out with a One X Super+ with all the internals of the One, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I think that is the best designed android phone to date, even besting the One.
@WTFunk- I'll try to start doing case reviews but my new job has me ridiculously busy so it probably won't be the same like it was on the One X. I still have 20+ cases for that thing that I need to get rid of lol. Right now for the One I have the Diztronic TPU case (it's decent but I don't like it as much as the one they made for the One X), the Incipio Dual Pro (holy hell is it massive! That will NEVER be my main case), the Poetic (it's cool and good quality, but not for me), the Poetic Palette Slim (nice quality but feels like half a case) and I have a Poetic Atmosphere on the way. Rest assured, I'll be ordering a TON more
That's good to hear.
I've gone through 3 one x myself due to defects. Still prefer sense and HTC's physical designs to any other brand on the market.
I'm banking on the htc one in black to be newer batches with less defects than the silver but we shall see.
Someone sounds obsessed with phones and OCD with them. I got the one first day it came out, no imperfections on mine. I think your imagining them.

OCD is a real disorder. I hate how much this term gets tossed around. It's no less rude than saying gay or retarded. Just sayin.

Can't compare OCD to being gay or mentally challenged for one. You people with ocd can be married and don't get constantly harassed. And second you don't have a slang demeaning word like "retarded" nice try but OCD will never be on the same level as any of those words.. carry on..

OCD is a mental challenge. My mother has it. It isn't fun.
I don't have OCD myself, so watch the You People thing.
Carry on.
