How to Enable HSDPA + ? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to Enable H+ but i don't now how.
Is it only available in selected providers, Countries or everywhere? Or just in Big Cities ?
( More Infos in my Profile )
- Leon

If you enabled WDCMA in network options, phone will automatically use H+ when carrier and current station supports it.

I recently have two Galaxy S III phones with two providers T-Mobile and Vodafone. With Vadofone i have H+ but my T-Mobile only gives 3g. It depends what your provider gives you.

I will test it with Vodafone. Thanks

Yeah it depends on your service provider I for one can only use 3g and HSDPA because that's what they give me here. HSDPA is fast anyway its not like I'm complaining

Dumb question but you have a telcel sim with a data plan right?
What bands does there network use?
i took it to a store when they unlock almost any cellphone, but they just let you use any sim card to call or receive text and that´s it.

No 3G access on vodafone in India on my ATT SGS2

Hello All,
I am having issues connecting to the 3G network of Vodafone in India. My SGS2 is from AT&T and I was able to root it & unlock it and its works fine with the call and other stuff. I flashed the UnNamed v1.0.4 ROM and its been pretty stable.
But after activating my 3G service here, all I see is E with the 2 arrows. I researched online and saw that we need to change the CSC code. I looked up at the CSC code on my phone by dialing in *#272*<your IMEI># and its shows as ATT.
Can you please help me on how to change the CSC to INU (India Localisation) so that I can access the 3G network here.
Thanks

you probably just need to add your apn. Flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1299705 its based on the international version so it might let you select your network.
First, make sure that Vodafone in India works in UMTS 850/1900/2100mhz bands. If they are using 900mhz band, this phone does not support it. As much as I know most European and Asian countries use either 900mhz or 2100mhz or both.
It could be frequency or any other issue but if you are looking to change your CSC then look up app "Samsung Galaxy S / S2 CSC" in the market and give it a try. Remember that your ROM has to support MultiCSC.
EDGE with data functioning is a clear sign of a band mismatch, not an APN issue.

India is 2100mhz while the at&t sgsii is 850/1900 so 3g won't work. The t-mobile sgsii would work though, t-mobile's 3g frequency is 1700/2100.

AT&T GS2 supports 850/1900/2100 3G bands. So, if the paticular carrier uses 900 for 3G, it won't work.
Or if it happens to use the 1700 MHz AWS band - but I don't know if any Indian carriers do.

1700 seems to be North America exclusive Rest of the world primarily use 900 and 2100 for 3G with Brazil and Austrialia also use 850 and 1900 in addition to 900 and 2100.

Cannot run 4g. please help

Hi, I have the white s2 i9100unlock version and when I put in my
Tmobile Sim card it says that I am running on E network instead of 4g. Is there anything I can do to change this? I contact Tmobile and they say it's the phone not their line. Please help me out because running on the E network is very slow

The international i9100 does not support 4G. Only option would be to get a 4G enabled one.
its because the international galaxy s2 doesn't have the same 3g bands as T-Mobile (assuming you are T-Mobile USA). They run off of 1700/2100 while the phone itself supports 850/900/1900/2100. While only the 2100 band matches, if you don't get 2100 coverage in your area, you will default to 2g.

So you started another thread on this, where I also answered your question. This phone will never get HSPA+ speeds on T-Mobile USA - or what they call "4G". It lacks one of the necessary frequencies for it. It will only get Edge speeds. From what I remember on how T-Mobile USA's network functions, 3G and "4G" need both 1700 and 2100 mhz to function, as it uses one frequency for download and the other for upload.
EDIT: Here's the wikipedia article on AWS, which is the band T-Mobile uses for 3G/4G. In brief, AWS uses 1700 Mhz for uplink, and 2100 Mhz for downlink. So since it only gets half of the band, it won't do "4G".

Unfortunately, the bolded/underlined part is simply not true. T-Mobile USA needs your phone to be able to get both 1700 mhz and 2100 mhz UMTS frequencies to do 3G/4G. If your phone doesn't have one of the frequencies, it won't do 3G/4G at all, and fall to Edge (2.5G).
What if I overall another ROM? Will it help?

No. The phone simply doesn't have the hardware to receive the frequency. Nothing you can do to fix this.

Wow that's weird, here in aus you only need to match one freq to get 3g. Do you know what t-mobile has done to require two bands to match? (its just my curiosity asking)

You need Galaxy2 HD LTE to access 4G. That particular model is not available outside Korea at the moment. If you want 4G, try Samsung Galaxy Note or LG Optimus LTE - also known as Nitro HD, or HTC phones.

That indeed is weird and inconvenient, but I guess telco's can setup their system however they like... It may have lot to do with number of people using mobile services. In OZ we have 22 million potential mobile users using 4 major telco companies, whereas in USA, they would get most of OZ population just in New York city, let alone rest of the country.
Ah systemcrasher I think they might be load balancing the hspa+ mimo across the two freqs. Telstra nextg doesn't need to coz there's allot less people here.
If that's the case still should be allowed to fall back to a non mimo mode.
Let this be a lesson to the OP, always research all carrier pre requisites before buying, also consider other carriers encased you'd like to stay open to other options.

So the answer is the link to the wikipedia article in my quote above. It's not T-Mobile USA's doing per se - they just purchased the AWS-1 (also known as UMTS band IV) band of the spectrum. That's just the way this band is set up. Wind and Rogers in Canada also use this band.

You're on T-Mobile? In the US? Then what you're seeing is normal. The GT-I9100 doesn't support one of the frequencies necessary for 4G on T-Mobile USA's network. (1700/2100) It will ONLY ever get Edge speeds.
It DOES support 4G (well, HSPA+, anyways) on AT&T's network, which runs on 850/1900.
See here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875176292. Once you get to this page, click on the Details tab. Notice where it says "3G". (I know - 3G; but it uses the same frequencies for HSPA+) It says "AT&T 3G Only".
Sorry bud.

A lot of carriers wrongly named their network 4G for advertising reasons when it is in fact still only 3G.
The reason why it might be on EDGE is because it probably has a much stronger signal than 3G does so it will default to it. You can set the phone to use 3G only by going to settings -> wireless & networks -> mobile networks and then set network mode to WCDMA only.
Take note of the signal strength in settings -> about phone -> status.

No. This will NEVER work. Trust me. the I9100 does not and will not EVER receive one of the frequencies necessary for T-Mobile USA's HSPA+ (what they market as 4G) network. You will ALWAYS only be able to get Edge on T-Mobile when using this phone.

Sorry, I'm use to the 850/900/2100mhz 3G frequencies we use here, all of which this phone covers so there's never a problem using any network... Except Vodafone, they suck on all frequencies

I9100 (Orange) on Simple Mobile network?

Hi, everybody. Things happens so I left my US phone in Warsaw's taxi being there for Euro-2012 and bought Galaxy S2 I9100 from Orange. Came back to US and was trying to configure internet connection and had no luck getting 4G speeds. So far on the phone it just showing EDGE and low speeds. Is there any way to fix that issue? Was trying to search for this on the forums and Google, just found a couple of ideas that it doesn't work with 4G for some reason.
Any help would be appreciated!
Not sure if polish sgs2 have 4g (Lte) at all. If you want 3g you need to change APN settings for your providers default. You will find it in web.
Other possibility - you have no coverage of network .

If you're on T-mobile USA, you'll never get better than Edge speeds on their network with an i9100. The phone doesn't have the requisite antenna hardware to receive 1700 mhz for UMTS, which us one of the two required frequencies of the AWS band. (the other being 2100 mhz)

You're right, the i9100 does NOT have LTE. He's trying to get what passes for 4G (HSPA+) on one of our US carriers. I'm trying to determine if it's T-mobile USA or AT&T.
I totally missed the carrier name right in the thread title. Simple Mobile operates on the T-mobile USA network. So, I'm sorry to inform you, but you bought a phone that will never get 4G on your network. Sorry.
What about 3G? Or because of the antenna frequency difference not even that?
