[Q] low storage warning but I have 300+mb free? - HTC Desire X

Hello,
I recently got a new Desire X, and installed my apps and games from Play store.
Now whenever I restart my phone, I get a low space warning. I have checked many times that internal space is 300+mb free ans sdcard is 5+gb free.
Can anyone hint why I'm getting this warning?
I have installed CatLog to view log messages, but I can't find and errors for low space in it.
Thanks for your help.

Same problem with storage
I'm experiencing same problem.
"Cannot complete this action because there is not enough free storage space"
I'm not using SD card, and have 840 MB free internal storage, and 1 GB free phone memory.
Actually, except of T-Mobile bloatware, I have only Air Droid, Chrome, Skype and Viber installed.
Can someone help us with this?
Can someone tell how to enter recovery to wipe cache partition?

To enter perform the following steps:
1. Disable Fast Boot under Settings > Power.
2. Power off the phone.
3. Press and Hold Volume Down then briefly press Power to turn the phone on. Do not release Volume Down until the phone boots a white screen with three images of the Android mascot.
4. Use the volume keys to highlight Recovery and press Power to select. Screen will load to an image of a red triangle with an exclamation point.
5. Press Volume Up and Power at the same time to show the Recovery Menu.
6. Use volume keys to highlight “wipe cache partition” then press Power to select. This may take approximately 30 seconds depending on the amount of information it has to go through.
7. When done, highlight the option to reboot/restart phone and again press Power to select.

Thanks for your reply. I followed the steps and successfully cleared the cache. But again after booting I got the same low space warning popup message.
There should be some log data where I can look and see which partition is low on storage. Can anyone point how I can see system log messages for such events?
I already installed CatLog tool, but I'm unable to locate the exact log message regarding this warning. Any pointers will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Thank you very much.
I tried wipe cache but still no luck.
So, I decided to do do factory reset and to begin all over again.
I did reset and I started to install apps one by one. As soon as I installed and started Viber error message appeared.
Still Viber works fine but this error is very annoying.
I'm going to buy SD card to see if it's going to stop.
If it stops than Viber developers would've made warning about SD card before install.

Have you done a lot of bluetooth file receiving, like move contacts or pictures, music files etc. And where is the location of the camera set to??
Check these things out and let us know...

Solved with SD
Today I bought micro SD 8 GB and problem is solved. No more annoying message about low storage space.
I'm convinced that latest Viber version was the cause because it creates folder called Viber on SD card where it puts pictures of Viber contacts.
Thank's a lot ayyu3m.

Any possibility that you have 300+ mb free on internal storage which refers to data partition but your emmc which is 1.09GB is almost full ?
emmc is the HTC Storage.
(when you plug in your device to PC you should have HTC Storage and Removable disk (SDCard)).
Download DiskUsage (Free on Play Store), you can analyze your free space on all App Storage / Storage Card / Sdcard

Thanks,
I installed the tool you suggested. It also shows 300+mb for App Storage.
I think its Viber as some other threads I found also mentioned it.
Also this phone have unusual mount for internal flash and sd card. Maybe thats the issue.

Viber
Disappeared for me to when i uninstalled Viber, came back after i reinstalled it and & message about manual exit of viber came up.

funny thing, long time ago in a galaxy which was using only desire (bravo), 300 mb was more than user had when he had completely blank phone...

Maybe u had the same Viber problem as me?

Actually, this is not a problem..! U need to just open Es explorer--> settings-->display settings--> untick the option of "Show low space warning" if its already ticked (well it is always already ticked by default)
That's it.

when i want to receive file via bluetooth or wifi-direct ii give the message "no sd card. insert sd card to save transferred file" the transferring file is less than 4mb!

How to find internal memory?

So I keep getting these notices that I have low memory in my internal storage. I've moved every application I could to my sd card, and cleared as much data as I could. It's coming to the point it won't allow text messages to come through. It says I have about 170mb left. How can I find out what's in there eating up all the space?

Put the phone into fastboot mode by holding the camera button while powering on.
enter *#301#
a menu will appear
enter 10 and the enter button on the virtual keypad
This will test the internal memory you should see a message that says pass and permanent write-nonprotect
It sounds like your internal memory may be bad.
Here is an article about using this mode for another purpose. It has some images of the phone screens and at step 12 starts giving instructions on rebooting the phone without connecting to your computer or removing the battery.

internal and SD card passed. Any other ideas? There is no way my apps took up 4gigs. Especially now when 90% of them are on the SD card.

The internal SD Card should be 2 GB, have you replaced the card?
The Streak has issues with a card larger than 2 GB in the internal slot. See this thread at Modaco.
No I haven't touched the card. I was confused how much internal memory was in there.

A factory reset will reformat the card. If that does not fix your issues hopefully you are still under warranty.
After factory reset you will have a blank slate. Use whatever method you like to back up your data, contacts, etc.

Need Some Help...

I'm in need of help.. I think i just broke my SD Card.
First of all.. Im using W-Stor 16GB SD Card. And ICS Final ROM from kevinlekiller from Xda. And my baseband is XXKPH 2.3.7.
I'll list the stuff I've been doing since yesterday...
-Its chinese new year, so I mostly have my phone idle.... I started using it @ 1PM to check for some SMS, there are no prob at that time
-For the rest of the day, I didnt touch my phone... till 8PM, when I open my phone and read Manga from Mango, I noticed that my phone's a bit laggy... So.. I went to Settings > Applications > Running Services , to terminate some background Activity, But its really laggy that it shows Force Closed Settings. After that my phone rebooted itself. After the reboot, i found that my Memory card is not mounted, so i Removed it and re-insert it. Still Nothing, I checked at Settings > Storage and it shows:
Total Space
Unavailable
Available Space
Unavailabe
And the "Mount SD Card" is displayed in a darker color, which means... cant be clicked.
I then rebooted my phone and tried it again, still.. the same result.
-The next day, I tried plugging it into a Card Reader and the computer cant recognize it. I tried mounting via ADB Shell and still wont work.... then i got back to the phone and rebooted to CWM 5 recovery, and tried to mount /sdcard, still wont work...
Can anyone provide help?
I think your SD is corrupted. Not just corrupted, bricked to the max.
I think there might be a way to recover my files... or at least being able to reformat it

Phone showing memory full

My phone just recently started showing a "low on space" error. Its saying my internal storage is low. I am showing that I have 6.21 gb left on my USB storage. I cant move apps to phone because it shows as full. I cant move apps to sd card because that shows as full as well. Tried using Gemini App Manager to move them also, but I get same full error. Please help. Oh yeah, im using ICScrew rom.
I would try doing "Fix Permissions" And "Wipe Dalvik cache" from CWM
I did wipe cache and did a full install again of the newest ICScrew, but that didnt work. It is showing me 6.20 left of USB storage and on device memory it says 100mb left. How do I delete files from device memory?

"Device Memory" is where your apps are installed at. If you want to free up space, delete some apps. Seriously, that's a lot of apps.
As a side note, I didn't mean to thank your post. The damned thanks button is in a lousy location. The Quote button has been there for who knows HOW many years, and the XDA admins decided to just throw a Thanks button on the end and screw up veterans who are used to clicking the last button in the row to quote. </rant>

[Q] [HELP] Accidentally hit Fix Permission in CWM and something went wrong

Last night I go into CWM and accidently press fix permissions after a while I reboot my phone
And now, everytime I go into Setting - Storage, a notification says "Unfortunately, Setting has stopped",
Also when I plug the phone to my PC it my internal and external storage are not shown on my desktop and it says "Unfortunately, USB Connectivity has stopped"
The thing is,when I remove my microsd, everything works fine, when I insert it, it's like there is a conflict between my microsd and internal storage. So without microsd my internal storage can be seen from Setting - Storage, but if microsd is inserted, none can be seen, and I can't even go into Setting - Storage
I'm using MT27i_6.1.1.B.1.10_Global.ftf ICS firmware
Things that I've tried
1. Wipe everything (Dalvik, cache, data, etc)
2. Do a system restore from CWM to the time when everything is fine
3. Fix my permission again
4. Re-install my firmware via PC Companion
5. Re-install my firmware via Flashtool
And it's still not working, help me please..
try to restore the phone to factory settings.
Settings -> Back-up and restore -> factory reset.
Alas, I tried a different microsd this morning and walah.. it became normal.. I think it's a bad microsd problem, or so I hope.. will be testing it for a while now.. wish me luck
Buy or if you have an USB Card Reader. Plug it in your PC. Go to properties and select check for errors and defrag it if possible.
Yep, I tried 3 other microsd and all of them work fine..
Try settings reset
Also do a factory data reset

[Q] How to use phone storage as primary saving location?

Hi! I have Iocean X7S phone, which runs perfect except one problem. X7S has opportunity to save apps to either internal storage, phone storage or external SD-card. Every location works as saving files. However, I can't use phone storage as apps saving location. There is Phone storage and SD card opportunities in Settings -> Storage -> 'Default write disk' . However, whichever I choose as primary, there doesn't happen anything. If external SD card is mounted, there is "Move to SD card" button in apps and a tab 'SD card' in Settings -> Apps. If I unmount SD card, there disappears opportunity to choose primary save location, SD card tab and button to move app another location. However, there reads 'Phone storage app 0.00B' and 'Phone storage data 0.00B' in apps instead of 'SD card app and data' when SD card is unmounted. So I think it is some kind of software issue.
I have tried factory reset different ways without any result, there is still only opportunity to keep apps in internal storage or SD-card. In \storage\sdcard0 is external SD-card and sdcard1 is phone storage.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem with my iOcean X7S too. It's very very annoying! I have tried resetting and so on too, and nothing works. There must be a bug in the firmware.
What version of ROM do you have under Settings/About Phone/Biuld Number. Mine is X72 20140301-160406 (1st March 2014 I guess). I think this is the most up to date official ROM unfortunately.
My build number is X7S 20140120-183101. It's strange that it doesn't infrom the new software update, even when I manually try to search updates.
I also put message directly to Iocean service, they just said that they just said thanks to infrom the problem. Maybe you should also put a message.

You can download the most up to date official firmware from Need ROM. I think the necessary tools to flash it to your phone are in the download, but I have not cheched as my X7s is up to date. Here's the link http://www.needrom.com/mobile/iocean-x7s/
Unfortunately I've noticed mine has a problem with the screen so I'm trying to return it. If I move my finger very slowly across the bottom quarter of the screen whatever you are touching responds very erratically. If you're browsing the web, pages jump around suddenly; if you're dragging an icon across the bottom of the screen, it jumps around all over the place, even if you keep your finger on the screen.
Mine also has a problem where the green notification light illuminates when the battery is only 90% charged. Sometimes restarting the phone makes the battery go from, say, 60% charge right up to 100%. Cycling the battery and clearing battery stats didn't help.
It's such a shame because apart from these issues I really like it!
If you decide to flash the newer ROM it is already rooted now. If you head to settings/security, you will see an option to enable root access which is very useful. Also, if you choose to enable developer options (by tapping on the build number six times), back on the main settings page a new 'Advanced' category appears. This allows you to enable the volume buttons to wake the screen, and to adjust the transparency of things like the notification bar
Thanks really for telling the problem in your X7S version. Mine hasn't any of those problems, except that notification led turns green in 90% but not any charge related. I wouldn't really count led issue as a problem
So good to know that newer version has the same screen touch problem as other X7 series phones, I have wathced videos of them on Youtube. I think this firmware ehich I have works best for now
I don't have option to get root acces from Settings/security tab, I have rooted it with general MTK6582 root method. So they seems to have added automatic root to the new version (and a lot of bugs).

Yes, I'd been hoping I would have the same firmware as you. I guess the seller must have upgraded it for me before despatching it - a nice gesture of course, but the easy root featue is the only useful thing! I can't make up my mind whether or not to risk getting a replacement or buy something else.
