Hello.
My friend has an i9300 with stock 4.1.2 firmware.
Today he told me his Play store didn't work. When he tried to download an app, after he pushed on the download button, the play store app just restarted itself and went back to the main screen, so it was not possible to download anything.
I went into the app info of the play store, and deleted all data and cache data, without success. The version was 3.10.10 and there was an "uninstall updates" option, so I thought it might be some broken update that caused the problem, so I tried to uninstall updates. Then the version went back to 3.9.16, and since then the app won't even start (crash to home screen).
Is there any way to reinstall the play store? or do I need to flash a new ROM?
Since I am a total noob when it comes to that particular device, please bear with me. Thanks.

Yes do a factory reset
You have to flash gapps in recovery. You can find them here: http://goo-inside.me/gapps
I don't know which version you need. I've been running MIUI for the past six months, so I haven't had to bother.
I suggest doing your flashing manually through recovery from now on. You have much more control over what you're doing, and the knowledge alone will save you from trouble in the future. If you don't know how, there are plenty of guides that will explain it... just search.

You can also flash GAPPS from the ROM Manager app...
Hi,
I am rooted on my S3 and all is good. However, my Father also has an S3 and last week he was talked into rooting it by his Grandson. All went well but long story short he was not happy with having a rooted phone so has decided to remove root. He has now done so by following various guides. He used Triangle away which he says went successfully and has used Odin to put the latest stock firmware on the phone which again he says went successfully. I was not there when he did all this but phone seems all good.
Except one thing. He has tried to install a couple of apps he had before rooting. Barclays bank app and Sky Go app. After installation these apps are saying they will not work on a rooted phone, but it's not rooted any more. I have booted into recovery using Volume down, power and home buttons and it says custom firmware / rom, I can't remember exact wording, but it says no. Also in the phone menu where a rooted phone says modified in device status it says normal or whatever it should say. Again can't remember exactly but all looks like no root present.
Anyone got any ideas on this? As I am rooted on my S3 and never un-rooted it yet, I do not know if he should have done something else. Will he have to root again to run triangle away or anything else. Or can this be fixed as the phone is at present?
Thanks for any help guys.
Cheers, Rich

One basic question..are you still able to go into recovery..vol up+power+home..if yes you are still rooted...you need to find your stock firmware and flash it via odin
check if it was a stock firmware your father flashed orcustom ROM o.follow this guide to do it again

Hi,
Just tried that and the S3 will not go into recovery via volume up, power and home. Tried several times and it just powers up as normal. He has just tried his banking app and it's telling him the phone is rooted. I'm stumped on what to do.
Cheers, Rich
Sounds like maybe triangle away didnt properly remove the count, was the firmware he downloaded the official one for his phone? Was it previously branded or anything like that?
go supersu and click remove root

Hi,
He has superSu on the phone. Presumably it has downloaded from the play store when restoring the phone. However, he tried to uninstall it which just removed the updates. Couldn't go any further. It is now asking for updates which he has done. But when he tries to launch Super SU it says no apps configured and won't go any further. I think the fact that super su is on the phone, the apps are thinking it is rooted. I am doing this all over the phone so can't see what's happening.
I'm wondering if the way to go now would be another factory reset and when restoring everything, try not to let play store instal super su. Would this be the way to go, or can we get super su off the phone without a reset?
Cheers, Rich
Try uninstalling super su with titanium backup. Then factory reset. Are you sure you have flashed a stock ROM and not a rooted one. This doesnt sound right.

Why not try reflashing again with original firmware via odin.

Didn't know there was something like that. Now I am on stock and un-rooted. I can still go into the recovery by pressing vol up+power+home keys.
Hi,
Trying to do these things with him over the phone ain't easy. I may just go and get the phone and do it myself.
He does have supersu on the phone and it is working, well it's installed anyway but obviously does not do the root things as the phone is un-rooted. There is an option in supersu settings to remove root but will this work as the phone is not rooted? Question is how on earth do I remove supersu. Do i need to re-root and remove it that way?
Cheers, Rich

Can't uninstall via Titanium backup as he is no longer rooted unless he roots the phone again. It is a stock rom. It was downloaded via the official rom thread on here.
http://www.unlimitedtips.com/2012/06/how-to-unroot-samsung-galaxy-s-3.html
This works very well for me
I'll start from the start and keep it brief. I have an old Sony Xperia X8 E15i and recently I decided to root the phone with SuperOneClick. The rooting was sucessfull and I decided to install a few apps that take the privelage of a rooted phone. I first got Root App Delete and I uninstalled apps that came with the phone (system apps) including the android browser, facebook and some other useless apps like foursquare. The phone was running fine for a long time I used Opera as my default browser since I uninstalled the original one.
After this I got an SD card for the phone and it was compatible and everything was still running smooth but then I went on SuperUser and saw a notification about an update for the su binary. I tried to update it, it failed on the last few steps a couple of times but after retrying it eventually worked. After this I tried to go on the Android Market and it said the Market process has closed unexpectadely. I tried rebooting the phone, clearing the cache of the market and eventually gave up.
So I decided to uninstall the market application in the hope that I could try and find a different apk for it which I could reinstall. I managed to uninstall the market however when I tried to reinstall it using an apk I downloaded it failed. Then I figured if I factory reset the phone the market application would be working and back again. But when the reset was done the phone came back with no Browser, no Market and no way of syncing with my google account or downloading any apps to browse the internet with. I tried installing apps through my laptop on Google Play but like I said as there was no way of syncing with my account it could not be done. Then the only thing I could think of was to try and flash the ROM but when I tried to root the phone it kept on failing.
I just want to know what I should do to either get all the original apps of my phone back or how to get a new rom that I can install onto the phone. If you need details on why it fails to root I could screenshot or give you a copy paste. I greatly appreciate any help.
Thank you in advance.
Can someone please check this out. Like I said just ask if you need more information.

Hi,
I'm currently using a Nexus 7 (2012 model) running Android Jelly Bean 4.3. I've been having a strange issue where the Google Play app keeps saying there is no connection. This has also occurred in the Youtube app. I have tried changing my time manually, rebooting my device, and uninstalling updates, to no avail. I am currently unlocked and rooted, and using TWRP as my recovery. What can I do to fix this problem?
Update
So after a painful night of trying to fix this problem by myself, I tried installing a custom rom: Liquid Smooth. When I installed it, Google Play and Youtube seemed to work just fine. At work today though, both apps failed on me again. This proves that it isn't my connection at home. Could it be my Google account? May I please get some help with this problem?
I ve had this one time before... I dont know for shure from where its comming (must be something with the framework) but i do know that the only thing helped that helped me was reinstall official firmware, root it again and install philz recovery...
Do a full wipe and install ROM once again....

I unrooted and re-rooted my ROM, flashed Philz Recovery and LiquidSmooth, and I'm experimenting with each app I install. I think the problem may have been with either XPrivacy or Freedom with Market Unlocker Pro. In any case, I have uninstalled all 3 of these apps.

Well, turns out it was Market Unlocker Pro which caused the problem, as I haven't gotten this issue in the past few days

I was experimenting with custom roms (mistake on my part) and got my Galaxy Tab to a version of JellyBean (CM 10.1) that is stable. However, in my noobliness, I didn't realize I couldn't get apps from the app store (makes more sense in hindsight). I also didn't realize that I can't revert easily.
If I connect the device to my computer, it says that Windows doesn't recognize it, and doesn't even acknowledge it in any other way. I tried running Kies, but could only ever get it to go through with the firmware upgrade while in download mode (again, not sure if this is what it was asking for) and even then I'd get an error with a bunch of random boxes for the description. I can get a screenshot of that if necessary.
EDIT: After a long time of inactivity, Kies informs me that the device is not responding.
Apologies if I'm missing something completely obvious, but this is really frustrating, so any help would be appreciated.
you download gapps for android version ???
that gives you Google play etc, I take its saying that on Google play its saying "this app is not compatible with your device "? ... try going to manage applications and clearing the data for Google play.
tip always make a nandroid backup using the custom recovery before installing a new ROM

I couldn't install gapps because it denies me access to the tablet on my computer. At this point I just want to reinstall ICS and live with it.
http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/roms/cm10.1/p4wifi/US_LPL_4.0.4_bootloader.zip
download the ICS bootloader flash that with Odin
then let's download a stock image for ICS
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/235381348/da6eff6/P7510UBLP4_P7510ZTOLP2_ZTO.zip.html
if the zip/rar file prompt for password, see below

USB drivers for Samsung http://db.tt/66rJelZn
so yeah give that a shot hope it helps:beer:

I can't access the files because windows wont recognize it anymore. How am I supposed to put the file on? (Assume I don't have an SD card and don't want one if I can avoid it)
I tried reinstalling Samsung drivers to no avail. However, Odin recognizes it and I was able to load the bootloader.
EDIT: Forgot I can flash roms with Odin. New rom installed, booted with Samsung logo, so far so good
