[Q] Need to restore P7510 to factory after custom rom - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was experimenting with custom roms (mistake on my part) and got my Galaxy Tab to a version of JellyBean (CM 10.1) that is stable. However, in my noobliness, I didn't realize I couldn't get apps from the app store (makes more sense in hindsight). I also didn't realize that I can't revert easily.
If I connect the device to my computer, it says that Windows doesn't recognize it, and doesn't even acknowledge it in any other way. I tried running Kies, but could only ever get it to go through with the firmware upgrade while in download mode (again, not sure if this is what it was asking for) and even then I'd get an error with a bunch of random boxes for the description. I can get a screenshot of that if necessary.
EDIT: After a long time of inactivity, Kies informs me that the device is not responding.
Apologies if I'm missing something completely obvious, but this is really frustrating, so any help would be appreciated.

you download gapps for android version ???
that gives you Google play etc, I take its saying that on Google play its saying "this app is not compatible with your device "? ... try going to manage applications and clearing the data for Google play.
tip always make a nandroid backup using the custom recovery before installing a new ROM

I couldn't install gapps because it denies me access to the tablet on my computer. At this point I just want to reinstall ICS and live with it.

http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/roms/cm10.1/p4wifi/US_LPL_4.0.4_bootloader.zip
download the ICS bootloader flash that with Odin
then let's download a stock image for ICS
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/235381348/da6eff6/P7510UBLP4_P7510ZTOLP2_ZTO.zip.html
if the zip/rar file prompt for password, see below
Password: samfirmware.com
USB drivers for Samsung http://db.tt/66rJelZn
so yeah give that a shot hope it helps:beer:

I can't access the files because windows wont recognize it anymore. How am I supposed to put the file on? (Assume I don't have an SD card and don't want one if I can avoid it)
I tried reinstalling Samsung drivers to no avail. However, Odin recognizes it and I was able to load the bootloader.
EDIT: Forgot I can flash roms with Odin. New rom installed, booted with Samsung logo, so far so good

[Q] Latest ICS b0rked my phone, need advice

Hi folks, earlier today I tried flashing the latest ICS firmware using Mobile Odin and after it installed I can't get the phone booted up, I get the white startup logo then the screen goes black, tried pulling the battery, no joy.
I can get into that pointless ICS recovery but no CWM anymore. I can get into download mode but nothing will detect my phone, I've tried 2 laptops and 2 desktops but it's always coming up as unknown device.
If I go into the ICS recovery the phone is detected ok but I can't flash anything from it as it comes back with some verification error.
Is there anything I can flash from the ICS recovery to get me CWM back or am I able to flash a default firmware from it?
I'm guessing the problem is my cable (it's a generic Ebay job rather than the official one) but I the replacement won't be here for a few days and I'm in dire need of using the phone, which'll teach me in future to be more careful I guess
TIA.
I presume you have Kies installed on your PC ? If you do, uninstall it. Then re-download it. Then reboot. Then reinstall it. Then reboot again. Then see if your phone & PC can talk to each other & Odin recognise the phone.
If you don't have Kies installed, install it.
Also, when you're using Odin, make doubly sure Kies or any of it's processes aren't running (check Task Manager & kill them if they are running). Tho you need the drivers that come with Kies, you don't want it running when you're using Odin.
If those things don't work, wait for your cable given you've tried a couple of different PCs.
or u can just uninstall kies and install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956 instead... its driver pack without kies
works for me atleast
Try to put siyah kernel to your sd card and flash that, I think it is signed so you should be able to flash that in 3e
Sent from my sgs2 running cm9 using xda app
It's def. not a driver problem as I've tried it on machines that have never had Kies on them nor any samsung drivers, I've tried the samsung driver pack but that still won't detect anything other than "unknown device" in download mode.
@Makrilli does Siyah have CWM? If so I'll give that a whirl! Thanks
Of course

Tried a handful of Siyah kernels, none of them signed though, dawned on me then to just find a signed CWM recovery and flash that, all working fine now.
Thanks everyone for you help.

I'm an idiot.... And now I'm stuck!

So I decided to install the cyanogenMod 10.1 (Android 4.2.2) to my Galaxy S3, I downloaded RomManager, did all the steps asked and it worked fine.
Then I wanted to install the Google Apps, but stupidly, I downloaded the wrong ones (even after double checking!!!!) So I downloaded google apps for 4.3 not 4.2.2; I was like "DOH" when I noticed on the Rom Manager installation process it said "4.3"
So the phone turned back on and now it constantly says "Android Keyboard stopped", I tried to load the Rom Manager application but that won't load now either! "Unfortunately, ROM Manager has stopped." is the message I get.
Is there a way I can download my cyanogenMod 10.1 ROM via ODIN? so I can get rid of the google apps that are causing me these problems; if so how do I do it (I've tried looking for the last hour, but can't find any info on it, every link says to go through the ROM Manager, but I can't get mine to run.
Thanks in advance.

Read the basics wipe phone through recovery and flash again
Reboot into recovery. Wipe and flash again. Don't flash gapps yet. Boot up and download the correct gapps then flash it.
Make a nandtoid backup so this won't happen again.

First of all, dont worry about android
When I meet android 2 years ago,I didnt have an idea about rom, root etc
Anyway,just go recovery,wipe data
I wouldn't waste my time using rom manager either.....

please help, need to get back to stock

I was using cm 10.1 no problems then i updated to newest nightly for dec.4th and it updated with gmail and no playstore, superuser. i tried to DL the google services apk as well as the newest playstore apks, services did not install and the playstore did but cannot connect at all. I then downloaded the proper gapps for 4.3.1 and flashed it and now my phone is stuck on the startup screen. I have no backups anymore for some reason either, my cmw recovery is still good but with no backup i can't figure what to do about stock since checking sammobile i cannot find the proper stock firmware.
Im in canada and this phone was bought unlocked it's the international version but i don't know which region to flash since there is no canadian or US version on sammobile.
if anyone can help me i'd appreciate it im only looking for stock so i can start over again then re root and flash my rom again since i seem to be stuck.
please and thank you
If you're going to go back to a custom rom anyway, why would it matter what stock rom you flash ? You're only using it to get your phone working normally again so you can re-root it & flash CM/whatever again, you can flash whatever stock rom/for whatever country/carrier you want (but not Android 4.0.4 given you'll be re-rooting your phone immediately after).
Samfirmware's firmwares are unavailable at the moment due to HotFile being shutdown, go to AndroidFirmwares.net or Samsung-Updates.com, download a firmware, flash it with Odin & go from there.
Or if you have a removable micro SD card, you can download just your cusROM of choice (+ the associated gapps) to it via PC, put it in the phone, do a full wipe/format and flash it via your pre existing cwm.......no need to go back to stock at all......
This might be my S2, or it might be my W...but it's definitely CM
That's the way I did it and ended up being stuck at boot screen.

That's why I mentioned formatting the phones partitions before the flash......in effect you'll be clean flashing onto blank/pristine storage/memory......

I have a galaxi nexus, I proceeded by setting the phone to the installation of 11 cm. It appears the face of cyano with the wheel turning, grinding a bit 'then turns off. I attached the battery charger. What should I do? Sorry for my english

I have a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit SGH-T599N rooted with Cydiaimpactor and I dont think a recovery mod installed. In recovery at the top it says android stock recovery and I want to install clockwork mod or teamwin modrecovery. I tried clockwork with Odin but it keeps failing. Could someone help me with this cause I have some apps I want to really try but this is holding me back from using ROM toolbox. If I have one of these already installed then how can I tell?

Do factory reset and wipe cache and dalvik cache.
If not working, downlaod stock firmware and flash it with Odin.
Did you happen to try flashing clockwork with rom manager from the play store?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager
♢NoteIII♢
No. Dont know how. I'll try now............. Upon looking I can't see my phone on the list of compatible ROMs for CWM. I hear that cwm works on my phone but dont know how to I stall. Don't wanna brick again. Tried with original. And got stuck on startup screen.
Sent from my SGH-T599N using xda app-developers app
It's not the ROM that needs to be compatible, it's the device. Below is a link of the entire list of devices that are compatible with the clockwork recovery
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
And this is the link of the entire list of compatible devices twrp.
http://teamw.in/twrp_view_all_devices
If your device is not on either of these lists , that means it is not officially supported. Does not mean it is not available. A developer may have compiled a copy specifically for your device. In which case, if you look at the "Original Android development" forums for your device it would be there. If you cannot find it there, it probably does not exist.

OK bro, took me some time but found and flashed CWM to my Samsung galaxy exhibit t599n. Now my dilemma is that when I try to flash recovery I loop back to CWM recovery screen. Tried to install Cerberus from Rom Manager and used the in app flash tool. It installed and when I clicked reboot. It just kept going to the recovery screen. Thanks too for the advice earlier. That really helped. Now, please help me to avoid this looping. I think I may be doing something wrong or leaving out something.

[Q] Soft Bricked my GP4

This is my first post on XDA.
I seem to have soft bricked my GP4.
I was running PAC-ROM CM10.0 (4.1.2) and trying to upgrade to CM11 (cm-11-20140323-UNOFFICIAL-ypg1). I loaded the ROM and gapps on the external SD card and used CWM 6.0.2.8 to make a backup, wipe cache, system, and data, and at that point I accidently rebooted so I forced shutdown, booted into recovery again, wiped again and installed the ROM.
For some reason , after the second install, the CM signup screen appeared. After I filled everything, I tried to reboot but I can't get to either the android or recovery. Either attempt (boot or boot to recovery)results in the same thing: a screen saying "Samsung" followed by one saying "Galaxy S Cyanogenmod" followed by the screen saying "Samsung" again - where it stays until I pull the battery. I'm not sure what I did wrong. I've successfully installed KK ROMs on my GP5 and Galaxy Nexus.
I can get to the Download screen.
My backup isn't much use unless I can get to recovery.
Any suggestions for my next move?

If you can't get into recovery then you are going to have to flash back to stock. What happens when try to get into CWM?. If it shows the Samsung logo 3 times in a row then that is normal and you just have to wait till it boots. Otherwise follow these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51762484. If you have a non North american device then download its heimdall file

When I try to get into CWM, I get the same result as when trying to boot. It won't go into CWM.
The link above doesn't mention needing to repartition. Is the pit file needed to return to stock with Heimdall Suite 1.1.1?

No you don't need to repartition and a pit file is not needed. If you have a us galaxy player ( has capacitive home button) then I provided all the files you need. Just follow the instructions.

Thanks for the help. I'm running 2.3.5 and can start over. The only minor glitches were needing to download the Samsung USB driver and disabling Windows 8's driver signature protection.
You still had to download the samsung driver even when using zandig? That is pretty odd lol. Also backup make sure you make a backup of your efs just in case you want to stay with the stock firmware

I reinstalled KK being careful to follow all directions, but the result was another soft brick. The next time i figured it out. I had been using the directions under:" If coming from a Pre-LVM build: (ALL builds before 28/12 as well as CM10.1, CM10.2)", since I was coming from 10.1.
I finally used the directions for: "If Coming from an LVM Build" and it worked.

Sorry for the late reply. I used the directions in the following "How-to-Geek" article to disable driver signature verification. I don't believe that the change is permanent.
http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/
Using this thread because it's pretty relevant to what I need... All the files for the US version are in the link, and I've downloaded and followed the driver instructions, but when I press the flash button, it throws and error and shows the PC and Kies screen on the player.
Am I doing something wrong?
Take a picture of your devics 's screen because you shouldn't get any error doing this unless the drivers aren't being install correctly.
