Hello,
I have a Samsung I9100 and today I tried to downgrade from CM10.1 to CM9. I flashed roms before on both my S2 and TF101 and had never any problem.
Problem: Flashed the kernel, did a reboot recovery. when it tried to boot it started to produce black and white stripes. Happens also when i try to start in recovery.
Info : -Rom that i had before is cm-10.1-20121218-NIGHTLY-i9100. Had no problems with that one.
-Kernel that i used, Kernel_CM_9.1.0_SR_CWM_Flashable. I found this here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29158659.
How: I used this instruction: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29573841&postcount=7, But i didnt do the dalvik wipe.
Reason: I think it because I used the Kernel from the wrong phone (STUPID), I just discovered that when i am writing this.
Is the phone bricked? What should I do?

Thanks,

And then, listen to this guy.
Okay, first of all thanks for the fast respons. I could fix the problem.
But after everything was oke, I wanted to flash my rom from RR_JB_V3.1.3._AOKP_4.2.1. to RR_JB_V3.1.2._AOKP_4.1.2.
Installation went fine. Then I did reboot and It get stuck in boot screen (Screen from samsung with yellow triangle).
Luckely I made this time a Titaniumbackup and a Back Up from the Recovery option.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Moreno
Did you wipe data, dalvik cache and cache...

1.- Wipe data / factory reset (mandatory if you coming from ICS version or another ROM)
2.- Install the Main ROM
3.- In AROMA installer select "Custom Installation"
4.- Choose depending of your taste
5.- When AROMA installer finish untick the "Reboot Now" option
6.- When you're back on recovery go to Advanced
7.- Wipe Dalvik Cache
8.- Fix Permissions
9.- Wipe Cache Partition
10.- Reboot
This was the instruction and wasnt sure if the option was Unticked or ticked at step 5, so i continued without touching it. After that it was stuck.
so....you're still stucked at the logo...flash a stock rom so your device won't look like it's gonna blow.
You need to untick and wipe dalvik cache, Fix permissions and then wipe cache and reboot follow all instructions... Do not skip anyone step...

Sorry i am not really clear about the situation. When I tried to flash RR_JB_V3.1.2._AOKP_4.1.2, I forgot to untick "Reboot Now". So there was no dalvik wipe and no cache wipe.
Now the s2 gets stuck in the boot screen (Yellow Triangle) when I try to normal start it and I cant go in recovery mode, it gets stuck boot screen (Yellow Triangle)
Only option is Download mode.
So should I flash stock rom with odin? Is this the right one, >>>>>http://stockroms.net/file/GalaxyS2/GT-i9100/4.1.2leak

No, it doesn't. Some file maybe corrupted or changed. Re-download it.
When i flash RR and do this time everything by the instructions, including wipe dalvik and cache, I still got the same problem that the phone gets stuck in the bootstartup (yellow triangle)
Go to cwm recovery and wipe dalvik, fix permissions, wipe cache

A bit more details. What phone model? What were you trying to flash? Where does it hang, on the Samsung boot animation, or in the recovery?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Galaxy s2 international (gt 19100). It hangs on the boot logo, which now is a yin yang with ics on it, I guess this is a NEAT thing. I can go into recovery mode, it just hangs if I try to boot normally.

The yin yang boot logo is actually the kernel. (Siyah)
You should probably try a factory reset/wipe data from recovery. This will alleviate 90% of boot loops and stuck on boot issues.
How do I do that?

You just said above you can boot to recovery... Once you are in recovery mode, can you not follow the recovery menu system to find the wipe data/factory reset option? It should be pretty straightforward.
I'm not running Siyah, so I don't know what the exact menu item is called in the recovery image that is in that kernel.
I tried that but it still does the same thing... any other tips?

Ok. Are you SURE you're doing a wipe data/factory reset when in recovery? If so, then I'd flash a stock firmware, full wipe again, then try the Neat ROM install again.

Find all you need to know here.
As an easy rule before installing any new ROM (that isn't an upgrade from a previous version ex. Cm10 builds or if otherwise stated ) wipe data , cache and dalvik cache , which is under advanced

If I try to flash any ROM (Tried to install paranoindandroid, Ressurection Rom, Slim Rom) I get stucked in endless bootloop. From time to time the phone boots ROM, but only thing that happens is that I see "Enter your PIN code" for like 1-2 secs and then phone restarts and bootloop continues. Fortunately, I have Nandroid backup of my previous ROM which is old like hell (It´s RebelAOKP 1.3 ROM) so I can download other ROMs from xda. I tried full wipe, flashing other kernels, flashing ROM several times, fixing permissions and I don´t know, everything what is in CWM.
I´m so frustrated, whole day I´m searching for solution but I can´t find anything helpfull so I hope that someone will help me. Please be good to me I´m little bit noob but flashed lot of ROMs and this happens to me for first time. I will appreciate every response.

A.
If i get your question very well,
1. Your device can only boot if you restore your old ROM.
2. Anytime you flash a new ROM, you always end up in bootloops
Please correct me if i got something wrong.
B.
Please provide answers to these questions:
1. What's your ROM details? Press include your phone's model no (goto SETTINGS -About, post everything you see)
2. Was your device carrier branded?
3. Was your device SIMlocked?
4. Please post all the steps you normally take while flashing a new ROM

- format /system (under mount and storage)
- wipe dalvik cache
- flash ROM
- flash gapps (gapps 4.1)
- fix permissions
- reboot phone
All should be fine now.
Note: this is not a standard flashing method. I only tried as much as possible to remove possibility of another round of bootloops.

How to do a logcat
Ok so this is what i do.
. Download attachment and extract anywhere
.Open up Platform-tools folder and hold Shift+right click on an empty space within the folder.
.Click on "Open command window here"
.In the command window, type "adb logcat"
.Plug in device & turn it on
.It should do a logcat
leave it for about 1 min then disconnect device. Right click the logcat and select mark then highlight all and right click again. go to pastebin.com or something like that then paste it and save and give us the link.
hope this helps

Your problem is EFS.IMG
Please clear it. Use Odin3 for that.
Boot into recovery and wipe data/factory reset, after you've flashed your ROM.
I had your problem some weeks ago,I finally managed to get arround this after I deleted the dalvik cache and flashed stock rom trough odin, and worked like a charm :good:

Cam't really help you with the EFS, but:
-bootloops are often fixed by installing rom then wiping data+cache from recovery as others said
-the dalvik cache can be wiped in the recovery, you can find "wipe dalvik cache" under the advanced submenu

Options i DO have: reboot system now; apply update from ADB; apply update from external storage; wipe data/factory reset; wipe cache parition;

Any ideas?
These options are only available in a custom recovery.

i just want to clarify... when you say 'flash STOCK rom' Do you mean i need to get a rom for a SGS3 VAU (Vodafone Asutralia) and flash that (go to odin, put it in PDA, etc)
and if THAT is the case.. Where would i get said rom, Because i've downloaded it from sammy firmware 4 times, each time it finishes the download without a hitch, when i go to extract the zip to get the needed files, it says its corrupted or some such BS..
Go to Sam mobile and download the firmware mate.
You will end up with a tar md5 file you flash using PDA section of Odin.
Good luck!

Kies is by far the easiest and safest way to factory reset. I have had to use it about 3 times in the past 6 months because I have flashed something I shouldn't have. Plus Kies now has a lite mode that is quicker at flashing your phone back to stock firmware.

Okay guys it seems ive fixxed my s3, after 4 long months lol..

Installed Kies, Got my phone into download mode, Let kies to a PROPER wipe of the phone, (Phone, pds, csc) and it just ****ing straight up fixed everything...now i just need to find a thread that shows me how to COMPLETELY backup my ENTIRE phone, Every damn fkn Kb.. And ill be rooting it again lol
Thanks everyone!
Evening all,
Please help. I followed the instructions perfectly in the official thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569686 -
But now my poor S2 won't get past the recovery screen. It passes the "Samsung I9100" screen ok but then diverts into a recovery mode called "Philz" I'll be honest, i don't even know how this got on there as I used CWM to flash it in the 1st place?
I've even tried repeating the install process again in this philz recovery but it still just repeats the same cycle.
Any advice would be greatly thanked!

In Philz kick ass recovery go to mounts and storage and format system and cache and data and preload then in advance setting wipe dalv cache then flash neatrom then reboot. Philz is stock kernel for neatrom. If that don't work redown load rom and check md5 and if it's good md5 flash the rom zip.

Thanks for the reply mate.
Redownloaded, verified the md5 file but it's still doing the same. Really annoyed as I've flashed loads of files before on odin and CWM but cannot get this rom to work.
Back to stock for me.
Have you done the formatting mate?

Hello guys,
I've followed the following tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLQ51Pg77q4. step by step and all was going well. I was setting up superuser and titanium backup until one of them gave me a choice between two options and then the phone rebooted with the yellow exclamation mark but would just be stuck there. I've tried flashing the original firmware with odin but to no avail. What to do?

Try flashing apolo kernel: https://www.wuala.com/pedestre/Kern...N (just CWM & light version)?key=IZz8nJ7ajpFQ through odin Pedestre's work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291756 and remember to press the thnaks button if we helped you :cyclops:
Once you have flashed apolo try and get back into recovery - vol up, home and power - then do data wipe, cache wipe, advanced/dalvik wipe - then go to mounts and format cache and data - DO NOT format your sd card unless you like losing all your saved files lol
Thanks for the help guys but I was able to restore my phone to working order. I am now using the Sentinel rom 5.00 and liking it very much.
