Hello
I accidently deleted a file from System/Firmware called "android.policy.jar" (Its a long story so please dont ask how, i am too worried).
Now my phone does not start. Heres the condition->
If i start it normally, the phone is stuck at bootanimation.
If I try to start in recovery (By holding Volume Up+Home+Power), it keeps displaying the splash screen (where its written "Galaxy SIII GT-I9300")
and does not go in recovery.
But I am able to start it in download mode.
I also have a clockwork backup so if it can somehow made to boot in recover, i can restore stuff.
I am using android 4.1.2 (ROM-> Droid SIII)
I can try with odin but I have linux installed and downloading windows over my slow internet can take upto 4 days!
Is there anyway to use odin or alternative in linux (Bcos using WINE can cause driver problems).
Please help.

Hello everyone!
I recently rooted my Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i running Gingerbread 2.3.6, and then tried to install a version of Clockwork Mod Recovery (File Name: ClockWorkModAce.zip, which I think is the 4.0.0.9 version from the AndriodFlip website /how-to-install-clockwork-mod-recovery-cwm-on-samsung-galaxy-ace-s5830/). Its supposed to compatible, but it ended up softbricking my phone.
Q1: I heard that dl mode can be accessed by pressing -vol+home+power. That don't work from me. But +vol+-vol+power opens up an warning screen, followed by pressing the +vol key which bring me into ODIN MODE, a counter, current bin: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL and an android robot with "Downloading, Do not turn off target". Is this dl mode?
Q2: I own a Mac, and I have used Kies to install the latest drivers. However the Mac version of Odin (I torrented Odin.zip from The Pirate Bay) still doesn't seem to detect it. I tried using different cables, blowing into the ports etc. Does this problem relate to Q1?
Q3: I'm happy that I managed to find a file capable of rooting my phone, but sad that any CWM I try to install end up bricking my phone. Can anyone suggest a suitable CWM for me? After I solve Q1 and Q2, maybe I try the suggestion.
Thank you very much.

Thank you for your reply. I've just downloaded a CWM for GT-S5830i, which is unflashable and needs to be reloaded every time i enter recovery.
Is there a restore file out there by any chance I can download?

Elaboration: CWM 5.0.2.6 is the one I was mentioning about.
About the restore file, I meant something that could be flashed via CWM 5.0.2.6 under the restore function. Something like a backup recovery file? Is it possible to do?

Lol. I do not have the backup as I bricked my phone before getting CWM 5.0.2.6. Right now I am asking of the possibility of someone having uploaded a backup of their S5830i image that I can restore using CWM.

Q1: I think this is the download mode. I remember, that Minis (or maybe Y) have the same download screen, Ace has another one.
Q2: I don't know mac, but odin didn't recognize my phone, till I didn't install the proper driver for it, maybe this is your problem too.
Q3: dunno.
Maybe it was helpful.

As long as you can get in downloadmode you`re oke. Look om www.sammobile.com/firmware for the stock rom you need (country or region you live in) and flash it with Odin. See item 3 in my signature for a detailled tutorial how to do that. You might need a jig however, but try getting in downloadmode manualy for now.

I have a similar problem
My S3 does not work after I root it, please give me a instruction link to recuse it. Thanks.
I tried flashing (Odin v3.04) the official 4.1.1 after trying the official 4.1.2 and now neither of them work. I am constantly stuck at the "SAMSUNG" logo boot stage.
I can enter download mode fine and also recovery mode but I am stumped on what to do to fix the problem.
Does anyone have a fix?

GT-i9300 stuck at the startup logo
Hi Guys
My GS3 is stuck at the boot logo. I've read and done all but with no luck,
First problem:
EFS error:
"Fake IMEI (usually 004999010640000)
Not registered to network
Fake Serial Number (usually 0000000)"
Now: stuck on boot logo.
I followed the forum for GT-i9500 thinking this would resolve my efs error. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392632
I did the following:
1. installed PhoeniX.ROM.EFS.Backup.S4
2. Extracted the efs backup tar file & created a folder in the root called efsbackup & copied all extracted files to it.
3. Used Root Explorer to copy all files to the efs main folder. overwriting all.
4. Used the terminal:
su
busybox chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin
busybox chmod 06755 /efs/nv_data.bin
5. rebooted.
nothing happened I was still stuck with the efs error
Now I entered safe mode, and nothing i could do, used the hold power button + restart.
now I'm in my second problem, stuck at the boot logo.
I can go to recovery & download mode....
Please help, i really need it hey

I realize it's Saturday, July 26, 2014 - But I had this exact same problem a moment ago; I got out of it by flashing a different recovery with Odin v3.09. I've got soft bricked staring down "Recovery Booting" and that's it. I had download mode available, so went to CWM 6.0.4.5 from TWRP 2.7.1.0. I must admit I thought flashing my HTC Titan I via Goldcard was hard, but this is ridiculous which my SG3 has presented just to get something other than Android Recovery 3e. I got Knox disabled, the device rooted despite being 4.3, but it begs the question what's the point of updating to 4.4.x if going backwards becomes an act of God doing it. Update: Another attempt did not fix the booting problem; however it is a solution to get out of the recovery booting and boot into a normal startup and back to your phone being usable from whatever launcher you use (Nova in my case) It will return to normal startup once you do this if it becomes necessary to do so, which is a bit of a sigh of relief. I'm about at wit's end. One problem gets solved but the moment I ran Towelroot which really worked, new issues keep popping up. Is there a way to look at the bootloader or what OS update created this Knox monstrosity and made our lives much harder than it has to be. I don't mean to sound like I'm asking a stupid question but is there an apk or a procedure within whatever flavor recovery we use that will perform the equivalent of the Task29 we use to perform on the HD2, something that will wipe these devices down to their baby butts and start over; thanks?
Hey visit link sure it will work for you.

Hey guys! After doing a factory reset on my i9300 today, I was restoring the applications and titanium backup prompted me to reboot the device, which I did. Once I attempted to reboot the device, it was stuck in the CyanogenMod boot logo. I tried to use the ROM Manager, but the factory reset which I had done before had deleted it, so my only option is the download mode. Tried using Odin to reinstall the stock ROM but this always fails! So in short, my device is soft bricked, I have no access to anything except download manager, what can I do to get my phone working again?
Try and flash a custom recovery then reinstall a new ROM

Woops, sorry! Basically if I try put a stock ROM on it, using a .MD5 file, it fails! Also, trying to put a .tar file failed too... Don't know if this answers your question?
Where it fails was the question .
Your phone can't get bricked.
1.Reinstall USB drivers
2.Flash a new recovery through ODIN or flash the stock ROM
3.Enjoy.
Try booting in recovery by pressing Menu+VolumeDown+Power
Hi guys, I hope you can help....my phone has the latest cyanogenmod ROM installed and all has been running well...until today.I had the phone on charge and when I tried to boot it was getting stuck on the 'samsung galaxy s iii GT-I9300' screen..I have rebooted to recovery cleared cache, delvik cache and installed the ROM again, rebooted and still not working, so I repeated the same steps but also done factory reset, still the same. I have tried to connect the phone to pc but it is failing to load MTP usb drivers ....which I think is a unrelated issue.
I'm sure I should be able to get it going via recovery, have been trying all day...is there something I should be doing that I haven't tried already?
Hope somebody can help as I'm pulling my hair out!
Thanks in advance.

flash official firmware from sammobile.com via odin
Is product name blank in download mode, if yes then you have SDS and need a new motherboard. If no then flash stock rom using odin after full wipe and format of system & data, factory reset in recovery after flash and see if it boots.

If you can go into recovery mode, it's not SDS, if you have backup just restore it, or go into download mode and flash stock Samsung firmware.
Make sure that you have latest Samsung drivers on your computer installed.Good luck.

Well,as much as I have read about SDS, you can't go into recovery mode, you can go only into download mode and there is blank product name.So maybe to OP it's a different situation, and to OP I would suggest to check if product name on download mode isn't blank.

Unfortunately not
1) Complete eMMC failure. This usually happens over night whilst on charge* - The LED may be lit but the phone will not wake. Subsequent removal of the battery will turn off the LED. You will never get the LED back on. The phone will never turn on again. It needs to go to a service centre and have the motherboard replaced
* Being on Charge is NOT the cause. This is a writing to memory issue and it is more likely to happen when teh device is awake rather than in deep sleep. When the S3 is on charge, it holds a wake lock (so remains awake) throughout the entire charging period, meaning SDS is more likely to occur when on charge This does not mean you should avoid charging your phone. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen
2) Half SDS as it has not-so-affectionately become known. This tends to be more of a boot loop of the Samsung boot splash. the eMMC is partially wiped out. You cannot boot into android or recovery . It fails at the boot screen, but the screen does turn on none-the-less. The only; thing you can do is top boot into Download mode.
Hi guys
Just to clarify, the product name on download mode isn't blank....and yes I tried the reset after loading from odin.

My phone turned off because of low battery, so I booted it normally and after 10 minutes the screen was still on and I couldn't unlock my screen. So i thought let's flash CWM make a backup of my files and do a factory reset. But it fails on flashing the CWM at least I can't access it but odin says it was flashed successfully. On the same thread it says that
There is an auto recovery restore system on stock roms that will reflash the Stock Recovery on a Stock Rom. If the restore files are renamed then CWM Recovery should not be overwritten after a reboot.

But I obviously can not rename the files because I can't access any of my storage.
I couldn't find any answers in the Internet.
I thought maybe I can flash a temporary recovery but I can't find anyone for the GT-I9300.
Is there any possibility to solve my initial problem or at least somehow get CWM succesfully flashed?
