[Q] Battery Monitor - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to install a battery monitor app so I can keep track on which apps is using battery, if so does it uses more battery?
Also which is the best battery monitor app? BetterBatteryStats or GSam Battery Monitor

I use betterbattery and it's pretty good. you get to see all the processes as well as what apps are waking your phone.
of course, it does not use any significant battery.
heard about the gsam, but didn't try it myself.

battery
i don't know if it helps, but instead of installing another app. use the built-in battery monitor, it tells you the percentage of battery that each app/process uses...including display. one less app to run/install

Ive used both. Betterbatterystats is better in my opinion.
That in combination with the stock is a good indicator of whats eating your battery.
I never noticed any additional drain in battery with it installed

Am I getting correct battery stats?

Hi all. I'm running cognition 1.15 on my gs2. I'm really happy with performance and battery life (I can get 2 days light to moderate use out of a charge), but when I check my battery stats using apps such as battery monitor widget I get reports that the phone is drawing 19 -45 mA of power in sleep state. Juice plotter is saying that the phone is losing very little % charge (usually less than 1% power hour) during this time. I'm having trouble Reconciling this as I understood the gold standard is about 2-5 mA . My last phone (desire hd) was registering as drawing 2mA using current widget, but had significantly less battery time. I'm not able to use current widget with the gs2. Is the discrepancy in voltage use just because the 2 apps use different polling times, or is there an error on the battery reporting process?
Thanks for any advice you can give,
Mike.

I'm very surprised that you can read out your current drain!? battery monitor widget is always telling me "1mA" no matter what I'm doing. Current widget, as you said, can't also read out data.
So how did you manage to read out the current drain?
Not sure., I guess that is what I'm worried about, is the data I'm seeing real? The monitor widget just seemed to work.

what you want is Better Battery Stats. search for it here in xda. its a great app for viewing you screen on time vs. awake time, wakelocks, apps battery consumption, etc..

[Q] Do I need a new battery?

Hey guys,
I have been running unnamed rom lately, but on any other rom including stock. My battery lasts for like 8 hours with little use and 4 hours with moderate use. When I see what is draining my battery it looks normal as the display uses the most, but I only have it at 30% brightness most of the time I have insurance should I see if I can get a new battery? Or any other tips?
Can you post a pic of your battery usage?
Have you tried to calibrate the battery yet?

Many things could cause battery drainage, such as oc-ing. You could find the original Samsung battery on eBay for a cheap price. Before buying one, try doing the following:
Clear OC/UV settings (i.e. put to defaults)
Download Battery Calibration by NeMa (on the Play Market)
Charge your phone and wait until it reaches 100%*
Tap on "Battery Calibration" and done
Once calibrated, use your phone as you normally would until the battery dies. Only when it dies you can charge it. You can charge as you please from then on.
Note: If it does not reach up to 100%, go to CWM and clear battery stats.

Which other firmwares? Anything UCKK6-based has known documented wifi drain issues.
The usual applies - look in battery statistics, use BetterBatteryStats to hunt wakelocks.

THIS DOES NOTHING ON ANY SAMSUNG GALAXY S DEVICE!
never tried the battery calibration?... does it actually work or no?
have you installed any new apps recently? those apps that use a lot of apps in the background are a pest to your battery life as they usually won't show up in the battery monitor. try disabling your data when not in use and see if that helps. if the current rom you are on does not have a toggle bar with data use the "data enabler widget" by Farproc.

Battery monitoring?

Anyone know whats the best battery monitoring app available? The built in 2.2 one is trash and I want to know which specific recent app is draining my battery quicker than usual..
I would like to know also as something is sucking the life out of my battery and bbs isn't helping
Check this out Android App Booster
Thank Mannus, he turned me on to it. Handy little app.

G Sam Battery Monitor..

I've been having really horrible standby time lately, like 4-5% going down overnight. Didn't take big notice of it since I used GSam to monitor battery drainage and everything looked normal in there with no wakelocks or anything. But just got myself Better Battery Stats to check out and confirm, got rid of GSam and bam, I've lost like 1% max overnight!
So if anyone has this installed an experience battery drain, I would highly recommend to get rid of it. BBS is worth every bloody penny.

So your saying that Gsam was actually chewing up more battery when it was installed than when it wasn't installed
