I'm not able to da that because i'm not able to choose between the two dialers. I hava looked in settings/apps/apps management and clear default is greyed out on the default dialer, it seems it is system default and i do not know how to clear it. Anyone any idea ? Thanks in advance !

Is there really no answer for this? I have same problem. I want dilear ex not stock one and cannot change it
You have to install GO Contacts.
It's free from Google Play Store.
Go Dialer comes with it.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Try this method-
1.Backup old dialer
2.Give the new dialer the name of the old one.
3.Put the renamed new dialer in systems/apps.
4.Reboot
5.If it doesnt work replace old dialer.
Remember to restore old dialer if method does not work!
Try to push the Go Dialer apk from /data/app to system/app and reboot.
Press thanks if it worked ;-)
Hello and thanks for all yous answers, i have solved my problem long ago by changing the rom.
Did anyone tried to use --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531222&highlight=lost cause i wonted to customize my status bar with it and after instal in recowery i lost my status bar and needed to restore system ;/ It looks fantastic and i'm wonderig if someone tried it in cm9 for legend (as i tried) with better succes then I
Secound question is if there is any way to replace stock launcher contats dialer from CM9 to Go launcher and other Go aps without "make as defoult". I meen if there is any way to remove from system contats, dialer and trebuchet and replace it with Go aps
the "Reloaded ICS" thread lists a deodexed cm9 rom as requirement - our current legend's cm9 is obviously odexed atm...
I don`t like at all the all black background and UI fo the TW email app so I would like to replace the email app from ICS/ JB stock ROM with the stock Google one.
How can I do it and do you have the stock apps to share?

I agree and have been looking for the mail.apk that comes with JB, im assuming you replace the original crappy Sammy one with the apk using a root explorer type app.
The black and white of the Samsung app is just not readable in my opinion; the stock JB is great
yes you can change it through root explorer or es explorer, you can find the apk of the email for ics or jb, then you have to replace also the exchange.apk as if it supports the stock android apps. make sure you fix the permissions too. I'm using stock as I hate the sammy mail
Ok i've uploaded them for you,
Make sure to backup the exchange.apk and mail.apk
use a root file explorer,
/system/app/
Place them their and make sure you fix the permissions.
thanks. are they ICS or JB?
I zipped the original ones with root explorer then deleted and pasted the new ones. but before I could set permissions my phone froze completely and I cannot do anything more now.
any advice?
They are ICS, but they are almost exactly the same as the JB,
you need to replace them after backing up, make sure that you set the permissions the same as every other apk in the system/app/ folder, after you finish everything restart your phone and it should work perfectly, if anything doesnt work perfectly, then go to recovery and go to fix permissions, it should sort everything out.

A gentleman and a scholar! thanks for saving the use of search to find those two apk files:good:
coming back, a complete tutorial (and apps) can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728308.
it worked nicely for me!
also thanks to awsy44.
Is it possible to install the 4.2 mms.apk on a previous build, specifically 4.1.1 Sense?
I've downloaded several AOSP ROM's and extracted the mms.apk and mms.odex files from /system/app, then pushed them to /system/app on my phone, changed permissions, and rebooted. Nothing at all happened.
If it helps, the icon for the .apk isn't displaying in root explorer, just the stock bugdroid icon. Also if I try to install the apk through conventional means it tell me "there was a problem parsing the package."
I installed this stock 4.1 messaging app and it works great so I think it's possible, but it's based on 4.1 and doesn't have the group messaging feature that I'm after. I really like the stock app and would rather not use a third party, they just don't work for me.
I attached the specific .apk I'm trying to install.
You ha e to be careful as not all aosp apps built from source will be able to be used on your device. I could give you mine but unless your on the same device you will get the error. Also most Roms no longer use an odex file. The group messaging feature is already built into the 4.1 CM messaging app. Other then that the simple answer is no as you don't have the proper frameworks needed to support the apk.
Please search before opening a new post.

Dear friends, I want to revert the inverted mms.apk to original white backgound on my n.e.a.r. rom, however when I try to replace the inverted mms.apk with the stock one it tells me that the app has stopped. Any ideas on how can i revert back to stock. Another question is why some apks install without problems and others cannot be installed. I mean if for instance i want to take a camera apk from one rom and place it to another it will not install correctly. Why is that.
