Screen Not Working after less than a Month of Use - Nexus 10 General

Please help! I bought my Nexus 10 on december 16th at Sams Club. Everything was working fine until today. I turned on my Nexus and the screen was all messed up. It is almost completely black with just a few colors showing.
It is not rooted or messed with at all. It still has the plastic covers. I can't believe this happened. One night everythings is fine, the next moring the screen no longer works. I haven't droped it or anything like that. I take good care of it.
What should I do? Has this happend to anybody else?

Warranty? Call Sammy.

You can always see if a factory reset does anything, though I'm not confident of that. Bet bet is warranty service through Samsung.

I did the factory reset but didn't help. The problem with warranty is I can't find the receipt. Des anybody know if I'll be asked for it if I call Samsung?

You said everything was fine untill this happened, so you've never noticed any distorted lines of flicker in the screen before this? I know some folks are seeing that happen intermittently and I'm curious if it might be related.

Now that you mentioned it, the very first time I turn on my Nexus, there was some flickering of on the bottom of the screen when the GOOGLE logo appears, but it was just that time. I never saw it again.

Return it to Sam's they will always let you exchange or return.

Sam's can look up your purchase in their computers as long as you're the member.

If you paid for it with a credit card or check (basically anything other than cash) they'll be able to look up the transaction.

The transaction should be linked to your membership. They track what you spend.

Give it to the service center for repair you should not experiment on it by rooting it

Note Warranty Service?

After the 30 day return window from AT&T, I'm assuming that I need to deal with Samsung for any warranty issues, right? AT&T will not exchange, right?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
Yup. See if there's a Samsung warranty/service center nearby that you can drive to. That would probably be the easiest way.
On my previous Samsung phone...I took it to the AT&T store so they could verify the camera autofocus quit working. The AT&T person was nice and called the support line for me, answered a number of their questions then handed the phone to me to finalize the transaction.
They sent me a new smartphone which arrived in 4 days then I returned my broken phone in a bag they provided.
pretty simple...and you can call the support line directly but I thought it would be easier to kinda play dumb and get AT&T involved i the process. This was 7 months into the 1 year standard warranty.
same here, bricked my captivate 2 times...got it exchanged from ATT....

Did they make you pay for a new phone, then credit the account after they got the old one? That's what they just told me today... thankfully there's a corporate store next to me.
No they did not
You have 14 days to return the bad phone otherwise you are charged. The prepay method applies to first 30 days...because they don't have refurbs available

Those of you getting them returned for warranty reasons through AT&T, any chance you have insurance on your phone or line? Other than just getting a nice employee, I've never known them to handle warranty issues like that...and last time I was in the store I was specifically told I had to go straight through Samsung. :/

I figured I bought from [email protected] and they should have a stake in getting it fixed.

When you purchase a phone (upgrade, straight buy, etc) from att, you have a warranty on your phone. I believe it is 12months in duration. This covers stuff like your phone having random reboots, shutdowns, and stuff like that.

Its possible to change i think but it's illegal so you won't find any help here. Best thing todo is go through ebay and get a refund / chargeback credit card and goto the police. Had this happen to me and the police charged the guy - thats why i only buy directly when it comes to phones.

Sorry to hear you got scammed. Without it necessarily being a stolen phone, it seems that a popular thing is for someone to get the handset as an upgrade, then sell it and a while later declare it lost... Phone gets blocked, insurance gives them a new one and buyer is stuffed.
Hope you can get your money back. Go through Ebay.

no, actually this is the most common scam....people sell their phone and report it stolen not realising it'll be blocked. Your seller most likely didn't sell a stolen phone which could be a protracted case, but most likely sold their own......open and shut fraud case.
The block will definitely not be lifted....it is now just an expensive door stop....you need to pursue an ebay complaint...they will involve the police

sorry to hear what happened. I havnt experienced it myself but Im sure your mad and upset.
I think it might be a good idea to name the seller so we can stay clear away from them, not particularly for me but for others on here.
As for what you can do, I would take the advice from the others here and persue further via Ebay.
All the best buddy
Definitely go through ebay and get a refund, there is no way to unblock it. if you did it would be illegal.
Yeah this is an all too common scan more so on that horrible Gumtree website but it does happen on eBay as well, basically if you paid via PayPal you will get refunded but it'll most likely be a long drawn out process, i rarely use eBay and PayPal anymore their fees are outrageous and if anything happens to go wrong you'll be sending endless emails, etc, etc and you'll be lucky to get a resolution yet they are quick enough to debit any fees that you may owe them cun*s the lot of them.
Hope you get sorted anyway, avoid all these websites like the plague and only buy from reputable websites.
Thank you all

FALSE ! Will be blocked in the whole Europe ! Also it's illegal ! Would you like somebody steal your phone and get out of the country ? Saying this things on forum makes you an accomplice to a robbery.
Request a refund via Ebay and still tell the police. You can also ask your provider if they have any information about your phone and how was blocked. Good luck !
if you paid via PayPal, open a dispute through there rather than ebay itself.

SGS3 returning for repair Water Paper smudged.. pls help!!

Hello i bought my SGS3 a few months ago and recently it developed that battery charging problem so I've decided to take it to the Samsung service center.... BUT There are some problems:
a) i have lost the purchase receipt
b) Being desperate i tried to wipe clean the battery terminals on the sgs3 with a damp cloth(Dumb, i know ) and accidentally smudged the water detection paper (the one with the little 'x' all over it) placed just below the battery terminals(partially, as i can still see 2-3 'X's near its edge). :crying: but i swear the device was always, otherwise kept away from liquids, and if they open up the housing i'm sure they will find the inner water damage indicators absolutely intact and unsmudged..
is my phone still covered under warranty? i can't afford another device...pls help :crying:
First things first, this post should go under the Q&A section, not general.
The service centre guys might refuse warranty just on the basis of not having the receipt. Forget about the water mark. If you can convince them about not having the receipt, only then can you think about the water mark. There is another patch just under the headphone jack opening. Tell them what really happened and ask them to check the water mark under the headphone opening. Hopefully it'll not be smudged and they'll be convinced.
Good luck!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Receipt doesnt matter. There is no S3 that is out of warranty yet.
Watermarks are a definite nono. There are two watermarks. Either one is activated, they will nail you. On eBay they used to sell those watermarks.
Good luck.
Now cue the idiot guy around here that says hit report to have thread moved.
it's not the receipt you should be worried about, it's the warranty document. if you don't have that, then you're out of luck
Actually you guys are both wrong....the service center can check if the device is under warranty just by checking the serial number and when it was manufactured etc etc.... So just take the phone with out any documents to a service center and you'll be fine as Samsung themselves gives two years
As about the watermark...it's all on them if they accept it or not

I had asked the same question once for my previous phone, LG P500, at the LG service centre and I got a good answer. He said that this is done so that they do not inadvertently repair a stolen phone for free. That would be unfair to the owner. The guy seemed sincere too.
BTW, I had been to the Samsung service centre, here in India in December, and they asked to see the receipt. Only then did they repair my phone, which was soft bricked.

I've never had a Nokia phone go bust, so, I never had to go to a service centre. But I've heard they do that, though. I've no idea if Samsung has that facility too.

Both questions can only be answered by your service centre .
In theory water damage indicators may void your warranty .

Something is super off about the article. All of the previous fires were while charging. This one the guy says it happened when he turned the phone off. It's awful convenient that the first case of a post recall Note7 catching fire be on an airplane. It's really weird that they let the guys friend back on an airplane that had just been evacuated. I'm holding out judgement til the phone is examined.

Its actually smart. If you are going to sue the company, you need to have the phone in hand before you file the legal claim. You turn the phone over to the courts to prove you have the phone. If your phone catches on fire root means nothing lol. The heat alone will make it impossible for them to tell if the phone was rooted.

Its actually smart. If you are going to sue the company, you need to have the phone in hand before you file the legal claim. You turn the phone over to the courts to prove you have the phone. If your phone catches on fire root means nothing lol. The heat alone will make it impossible for them to tell if the phone was rooted.

I think all of this is customer fault. I had old one and I run whatever I want to and my phone was just warm. New one whatever I do or charge wireless or with c-usb is cold. No problem at all. They must doing something to they phone that make them run hot, like root and installing some software etc.
