Note Warranty Service? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

After the 30 day return window from AT&T, I'm assuming that I need to deal with Samsung for any warranty issues, right? AT&T will not exchange, right?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk

Yup. See if there's a Samsung warranty/service center nearby that you can drive to. That would probably be the easiest way.

On my previous Samsung phone...I took it to the AT&T store so they could verify the camera autofocus quit working. The AT&T person was nice and called the support line for me, answered a number of their questions then handed the phone to me to finalize the transaction.
They sent me a new smartphone which arrived in 4 days then I returned my broken phone in a bag they provided.
pretty simple...and you can call the support line directly but I thought it would be easier to kinda play dumb and get AT&T involved i the process. This was 7 months into the 1 year standard warranty.

same here, bricked my captivate 2 times...got it exchanged from ATT....

Att warranty. ..never had to go in to a store they just exchanged via mail

Did they make you pay for a new phone, then credit the account after they got the old one? That's what they just told me today... thankfully there's a corporate store next to me.

No they did not
You have 14 days to return the bad phone otherwise you are charged. The prepay method applies to first 30 days...because they don't have refurbs available

Those of you getting them returned for warranty reasons through AT&T, any chance you have insurance on your phone or line? Other than just getting a nice employee, I've never known them to handle warranty issues like that...and last time I was in the store I was specifically told I had to go straight through Samsung. :/

I had no insurance.
I figured I bought from [email protected] and they should have a stake in getting it fixed.

When you purchase a phone (upgrade, straight buy, etc) from att, you have a warranty on your phone. I believe it is 12months in duration. This covers stuff like your phone having random reboots, shutdowns, and stuff like that.

It helps if you're only a few miles away from a Samsung warranty center. They apparently allow walk-ins for instant exchange.

If your shipping it to Motorola, they'll most likely figure out you were trying to modify your phone.
its the only people att said to ship i gave them exact error they said software corrupt issue and that they will fix it they told me to ship just phone no sim no battery nor cover..

OK so i went to AT&T the store manager told me to call the number he provided me with. So i called it with my telephone "land line" i waited approx 30 minutes talked to a white male who worked for AT&t Who then told me i had called wrong number, which i then proceeded to call Motorola's number and waited an hour to speak to a Indochinese brown person. He asked error i provided him error he said cool we can fix that issue, i said great he said give me yo address brotha i said ight and proceeded to give address he then said since were nice we will pay for overnight shipping to us and back to you. he sent label through email i printed out with my canon printer in black/white. tomorrow morning i will wake up and drop package off at FedEx. i will sit in major depression for 7 days awaiting my phone to be fixed and arrived back at my door.
Detailed enough ?

So how would that stop someone from actually doing it? If the reason they claim said "lost" phone is due to them dropping and breaking it, they likely aren't gonna want to use the old one anyway. Sounds more like a way to avoid having to pay full retail price for a replacement rather than a way to have two working devices both for the same price.
Cept you could always get a replacement for what was claimed a lost phone, which then "turns up a few weeks later." only way to screw up is leaving on the lost phone while the replacement is on the way.

Warranty services.?

Will AT&T warranty services replace my phone for a hardware defect?
I've had my phone since release and the glass is raised on the left. At first it was something I could deal with but it actually seems to be getting worse. I feel it every time I pull down for notifications.
It's been too long to get a replacement from the store I bought it from so I'm wondering if AT&T will help me.

One more time, since it seems it's never clear:
Warranty is for DEFECTS, like the gaps, raised screens, etc.
INSURANCE is for **** that you do to your phone, like a broken screen, liquid damage, fire, theft, etc.
AT&T covers your phone with a 1 year warranty regardless of if you have insurance or not. The insurance extends the warranty past the 1 year though.

I don't think you should do that. You said you called AT&T, but I was told by the repair department that going to a store and reporting your problem would get you a new phone.
That's not always the case. Every time I've gone to the store after the initial return period has expired, I'm told I have to deal with warranty services. In fact I have had sales reps in the store call them for me. Store reps have little to no power unless you are dealing with a store with a repair center on site. There isn't one of those within a hundred miles of me, so I just call warranty services.
Btw. New phone arrived yesterday and it doesn't have any problems.

Absolutely not. Maybe if it's a repair center (which are relatively rare), but outside of those shops all AT&T warranty work is done over the phone.

Rooted phone void accessory warranty

So today I go into Verizon with my rooted note. I know some will flame for going in with it being rooted. My Motorola elite Bluetooth wouldn't pair with my phone. Customer service said since your phone it's rooted it voids warranty. I say I understand it the phone not being under warranty but the ear piece. She said yes. I reach into my pocket and pull out another one and nfc pair it. She said why do you have 2 of them. Because the charger port broke on the other one and y'all said I broke it and it wasn't covered. She said well neither are covered anyway since you rooted your phone. I smile and walk out. So I guess I'll be giving Motorola a call. But my question is, is there any place that said accessories are not covered if your phone is rooted
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Garbage. I'm an attorney and trust me if there was a policy that said that, you would have heard a courtroom outcry for it.
Dealerships say the same carp about cars with work done. Unless they can prove the problem was caused by the root then no.
Dumb kiddie working for Verizon is dumb.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda premium
Your Bluetooth accessory is still covered by the warranty. Just walk back into the exact same store with the Bluetooth and have him try to pair it with his phone. If it works... well then it is your phone if not its covered and the problem has nothing to do with root....
Good luck, but defiantly try getting a same day replacement at a store rather than waiting on shipping from Motorola.
I showed her that my other one would pair. And I did suggest that she tried to pair it with on of their phones. She said how do i know that you rooting your phone didn't mess the Bluetooth up. I asked her how could it. But she had no answer. I've rooted my phone's since... I'm trying to remember my first custom Rom I think it was on the audiovox 6600. And have never heard of phone messing up accessories. Well probably go to another store tomorrow and see if she put notes on the account

We had a similar issue at our local VZW, with three different items, my BT (which didn't pair from day 1), my Smart Dock (connector died 4 days into owning) and the best one yet my Otterbox which the belt clip broke on.
I let the Dock and BT go because I didn't really want to have that debate or argument but a belt clip on my case? I went off to the point that I was asked to leave the store at which point I refused to leave until someone showed me that policy and until I spoke with the DM. After much looking at no point was anyone in that store able to find or provide anything that supported those claims and when the DM finally arrived (45 minute drive), he was beyond livid and replaced all three items on the spot.
His response to his associate "When you tried to pair it to one of our devices and it didn't work, that should have been a sign to switch it considering had he not brought his phone with him you would have had no clue it was rooted and you would have switched all three items. He just spent over $1000 less than a week ago on the phone and all the accessories he purchased and this is honestly how you treat him?"
He also gave me his number and informed me if I had any future problems of that nature to feel free to contact him or VZW Customer Service, as that is not policy and regardless of your phone's state it holds no bearing on the warranty of accessories.

You should've just taken it from her and did it yourself. $100 is not chump change and you should go and demand a replacement. Speak to a manager if you have to.
You can do this without causing a scene and it would help other users, who don't know rooting doesn't good the warranty, by correcting her bull****.

Has anyone with 0x1 been refused service at a sprint repair center?

I'm wondering if they immediately look for the Knox flip or they don't. I know it depends on a lot of things but I still am concerned that down the line, if I need to get a refurb, if I'm down the creek without a paddle.

It looks like Sprint is instructed not to service the phone if Knox is tripped to 0x1.
This is one reason I got my phone at Best Buy and paying for the insurance through them. The guy even said if I root my phone and mess it up, make sure to break the phone so it won't turn on

Two sprint stores have told me thst it is ok to root and to modify the ROM. They said they can repair it if broken, but they can't do anything to help with software problems caused by non stock ROMs other than maybe do factory reset. One tech even encouraged me to root, though that was his personal opinion and not Sprint.
