Its possible to change i think but it's illegal so you won't find any help here. Best thing todo is go through ebay and get a refund / chargeback credit card and goto the police. Had this happen to me and the police charged the guy - thats why i only buy directly when it comes to phones.

Sorry to hear you got scammed. Without it necessarily being a stolen phone, it seems that a popular thing is for someone to get the handset as an upgrade, then sell it and a while later declare it lost... Phone gets blocked, insurance gives them a new one and buyer is stuffed.
Hope you can get your money back. Go through Ebay.

no, actually this is the most common scam....people sell their phone and report it stolen not realising it'll be blocked. Your seller most likely didn't sell a stolen phone which could be a protracted case, but most likely sold their own......open and shut fraud case.
The block will definitely not be lifted....it is now just an expensive door stop....you need to pursue an ebay complaint...they will involve the police

sorry to hear what happened. I havnt experienced it myself but Im sure your mad and upset.
I think it might be a good idea to name the seller so we can stay clear away from them, not particularly for me but for others on here.
As for what you can do, I would take the advice from the others here and persue further via Ebay.
All the best buddy

Definitely go through ebay and get a refund, there is no way to unblock it. if you did it would be illegal.

Yeah this is an all too common scan more so on that horrible Gumtree website but it does happen on eBay as well, basically if you paid via PayPal you will get refunded but it'll most likely be a long drawn out process, i rarely use eBay and PayPal anymore their fees are outrageous and if anything happens to go wrong you'll be sending endless emails, etc, etc and you'll be lucky to get a resolution yet they are quick enough to debit any fees that you may owe them cun*s the lot of them.
Hope you get sorted anyway, avoid all these websites like the plague and only buy from reputable websites.

Thank you all
well i hope the police will get him

FALSE ! Will be blocked in the whole Europe ! Also it's illegal ! Would you like somebody steal your phone and get out of the country ? Saying this things on forum makes you an accomplice to a robbery.
Request a refund via Ebay and still tell the police. You can also ask your provider if they have any information about your phone and how was blocked. Good luck !

if you paid via PayPal, open a dispute through there rather than ebay itself.

Yeah, he is saying to sell to someone else overseas scamming and creating others problems.
Also I agree about Ebay. Is much safer than buying from somebody's hand. My cousin bought a Sony Ericsson Xperia, second hard...and looks like new. No scratch, no issues at all. The op just had bad luck.

Note Warranty Service?

After the 30 day return window from AT&T, I'm assuming that I need to deal with Samsung for any warranty issues, right? AT&T will not exchange, right?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
Yup. See if there's a Samsung warranty/service center nearby that you can drive to. That would probably be the easiest way.
On my previous Samsung phone...I took it to the AT&T store so they could verify the camera autofocus quit working. The AT&T person was nice and called the support line for me, answered a number of their questions then handed the phone to me to finalize the transaction.
They sent me a new smartphone which arrived in 4 days then I returned my broken phone in a bag they provided.
pretty simple...and you can call the support line directly but I thought it would be easier to kinda play dumb and get AT&T involved i the process. This was 7 months into the 1 year standard warranty.
same here, bricked my captivate 2 times...got it exchanged from ATT....

Did they make you pay for a new phone, then credit the account after they got the old one? That's what they just told me today... thankfully there's a corporate store next to me.
No they did not
You have 14 days to return the bad phone otherwise you are charged. The prepay method applies to first 30 days...because they don't have refurbs available

Those of you getting them returned for warranty reasons through AT&T, any chance you have insurance on your phone or line? Other than just getting a nice employee, I've never known them to handle warranty issues like that...and last time I was in the store I was specifically told I had to go straight through Samsung. :/

When you purchase a phone (upgrade, straight buy, etc) from att, you have a warranty on your phone. I believe it is 12months in duration. This covers stuff like your phone having random reboots, shutdowns, and stuff like that.

So how would that stop someone from actually doing it? If the reason they claim said "lost" phone is due to them dropping and breaking it, they likely aren't gonna want to use the old one anyway. Sounds more like a way to avoid having to pay full retail price for a replacement rather than a way to have two working devices both for the same price.
Cept you could always get a replacement for what was claimed a lost phone, which then "turns up a few weeks later." only way to screw up is leaving on the lost phone while the replacement is on the way.

What does replacing the motherboard in my SII mean?

Hello once again audience,
I have a question and basically the title says it. The repair shop is going to replace my phone's motherboard, so what does this mean? Does the motherboard come with new core components like the CPU and GPU? Because my phone was water damaged, and I would prefer all the key components replaced along with the motherboard so it wouldn't corrode over time. And of course the CPU might have been worn out? I hope my phone's performance would be as good as new...
Thanks
You might as well buy a new phone if he is replacing everything, most likely it will cost more than a new phone if he is to replace everything and there would be no warranty.
Get a new phone. Cheaper and more reliable option. The motherboard IS the whole brain of the phone. You can get an s3 or s4 for basically the same price

But well, you didn't say if warranty/insurance covered your device.

There are several other components that maybe need changing as well as the mb.
If it was me;Id sell it as water damaged on ebay.
And if s4's are the same price as s2's motherboards....Ill take 20.

I reread it and he states that the OP can get an S3 or an S4 for basically the same price as the S2's motherboard?? Wtf? here an S2's motherboard is 8k rupees and and an S3 costs 29k and S4 costs 42k I was just stating that it's not like that at all now, and I quoted you because you said something what I was thinking, and what the hell do you mean I was attempting to change what somebody said, I was saying if the S4 costs that less, the sales would go over the roof.
Edit :The sarcasm was meant for the third poster if that's the problem, when I said "like he said" I was actually referring to your statement "if S4 cost same as S2's motherboard, give me 20" which I thought was a good joke.

Right ok.The OP doesnt need clowns like that guy in post 3 saying a s2 mb is the same price as an s4 phone, this is why I posted originally.
Also I wouldnt bother keeping a water damaged phone;as said earlier maybe just about everything may need replaced.
The OP may get about £100 for it on ebay, and if its any help I could possibly sell him a s3 mini for £100.....so he ends up with a working phone with warranty.
I bought the phone for the wife at xmas unlocked for £300,and Ive given her cash to get an iphone5.

There are genuine sellers on ebay like me,or my wife, but we only sell phones that are fully paid for when we buy them.
But if a seller(and theres loads of them) says hes selling because of "unwanted upgrade" then
1.WTF has he got it if its unwanted
2.Means to me hes still got to pay some sort of contract, and if he doesnt pay phone gets blacklisted.
Anyway,I would try a new usb port kit,and if its still faulty, then stick it on ebay.

Research + eBay + Patience = Save Money
I just replaced the motherboard of my S3 for essentially <$40. I bought an S3 on ebay with a broken screen but good motherboard (keywords like 'it charges', 'turns on', 'vibrates', and 'plays sound' come to mind) and swapped it into my S3 in about 20 minutes or so total with great success. The other super important thing is to verify a clean IMEI / ESN number because that lives on the motherboard too {However, I assume you could inject the 'good' IMEI from your old board into the new one with some pain and research. Not ideal.}
Anyway, yeah, the broken phone cost me a tiny but under $100 including shipping and I resold it just now on ebay for $66 including shipping. Big win, as the random tech guy in my town was going to charge me $220 and said it would almost definitely cost as much or close to as much as buying a new/refurb unit. My functionally and cosmetically perfect phone and the fact that my wallet is only ~$34/35 lighter determined that was a bold faced lie.
Disclosure: I do have electronics experience, but not with phones. And this fix was literally about 10 or so small screws and a few adorable itty bitty lil ribbon cable things. Easy day.
TL;DR-- Enter the Google Fu and observe your enemies upon the fields of eBay to fix things for cheap and/or at least know when it's good time to give up :good:

Reported Stolen G2 which was purchased on Swappa

So here is the long story short, I bought a Verizon lg g2 back in November 2013. 4 days ago my phone stopped picking up service after I put my sim back in it from the gs3 (my g2 had died that's why I switched to my gs3). I called Verizon to see what was going on, they told me they didn't know. They asked where did I purchase the phone I told them and then they said that the phone was reported stolen on a fraudulent account. So my Question is is there any place I can sell my phone to try to get something back for it?

You might want to try unlocking it and use another carrier. Who ever sold you was probably doing insurance fraud. But usually when a phone is locked like that its only locked to the carrier. I had a S4 locked for tmobile. I unlocked it and used ATT . couldnt use tmobile no more

If this guy knowingly sold you a phone he has or had reported stolen then you do have a solid leg to stand on. I would begin with you local law enforcement. IMEI numbers, IP Addresses and subpoenas to devuldge info on the Swappa users account will gain them all the info they need to proceed with filing charges. What's even better is I'm assuming most likely the phone you bought came from out of state so crossing a state line now opens the door for federal statutes. You might be surprised how willing and eager your local law enforcement might be to handle this for you, especially if you have your ducks in a row and necessary info on hand prior to your meeting with them.

Swappa checks all of the IMEI's to make sure they're clean as well, but from what Krazie1 is saying it sounds like the phone he bought was reported after he bought and activated it. Even Verizon would have told him it was clean.

Yah, I'm very well aware that Swappa checks the imei# for each listing. Plus, I understand what krazie1 has stated about the phone being reported stolen. I'm not doubting the phone was reported stolen. I'm just saying that, if you just slip your SIM card into the phone that's not yours I'd feel there's greater risk then if you take it to Verizon. I know I'd have a better chance of having the situation resolved if I took my phone to them. Especially, after it was reported stolen well over thirty days. The part that is unsettling to me is that the phone was new. I sell and buy often on Swappa so I'm not happy to hear about krazie1's situation. The seller has sold over a hundred phones. I feel, if I went to Verizon, I'd keep bugging them because of the situation. If I just slipped my SIM card in then I'd feel like I didn't have a chance. That's just my thoughts.

Gotcha -- you're saying that if they are the ones who give the all clear you have a leg to stand on later if the IMEI gets blocked. That makes sense.

Yep, exactly. I wish there was a sensible way to make the situation right. Logotech_cell should step up and resolve the issue. If he doesn't, Swappa should ban him!

[Q] Problem with EFS?

Hi. I've read almost all posts on this forum and I couldn't find solution so I'm asking for help. I hope you won't slap me badly
So my problem is with network in SGS III (i9300). I bought it with error during dialing "not registered in network" and it's saying "only emergency calls", with stock branded adroid 4.3. Then I've started to fixing with other roms but always the same error (I haven't done EFS backup). I have IMEI which is correct with this under battery. I've been trying all methods which I found on xda and other forums and I couldn't solve it. Anyone has an idea how to fix it?
Either the imei is blacklisted, in which case you've bought a stolen phone, or the efs folder is corrupt in some way.
Take it to a reputable repair centre, they will be able to repair the efs, if the phone is genuine.

I used websites in my country to check if the imei is blacklisted, those sites say's that isn't but I'm not sure. Where I can also check if it is blacklisted?
If I will go to repair center and they found out that is stolen what will happen?

Don't take it to service center. Cost!!!!
Take it to a little local shop and they will be able to fix a corruption of the efs easily. UK price is about £20 to fix this.
If its blocked then you can sell it for parts or be a good boy and hand it into the little local police station:thumbup:

Jelly I'm not being funny with you but...
I always look at things with a 50/50 chance of happening.
Let's take a poll.
1..£50/£60 for scrap in you're pocket
2...take it to cop shop, get arrested for looking like the man that mugged the poor 16year old who lossed it when he got drunk in the local park, then went home and told his mummy he got robbed by a man that looks just like the op?? Its all 50/50 lmao.
Better just to not buy a doggy phone right from the start. But op being a member since 2012 should really know this
