Hi. I've read almost all posts on this forum and I couldn't find solution so I'm asking for help. I hope you won't slap me badly
So my problem is with network in SGS III (i9300). I bought it with error during dialing "not registered in network" and it's saying "only emergency calls", with stock branded adroid 4.3. Then I've started to fixing with other roms but always the same error (I haven't done EFS backup). I have IMEI which is correct with this under battery. I've been trying all methods which I found on xda and other forums and I couldn't solve it. Anyone has an idea how to fix it?
Either the imei is blacklisted, in which case you've bought a stolen phone, or the efs folder is corrupt in some way.
Take it to a reputable repair centre, they will be able to repair the efs, if the phone is genuine.

I used websites in my country to check if the imei is blacklisted, those sites say's that isn't but I'm not sure. Where I can also check if it is blacklisted?
If I will go to repair center and they found out that is stolen what will happen?

Don't take it to service center. Cost!!!!
Take it to a little local shop and they will be able to fix a corruption of the efs easily. UK price is about £20 to fix this.
If its blocked then you can sell it for parts or be a good boy and hand it into the little local police station:thumbup:

Jelly I'm not being funny with you but...
I always look at things with a 50/50 chance of happening.
Let's take a poll.
1..£50/£60 for scrap in you're pocket
2...take it to cop shop, get arrested for looking like the man that mugged the poor 16year old who lossed it when he got drunk in the local park, then went home and told his mummy he got robbed by a man that looks just like the op?? Its all 50/50 lmao.
Better just to not buy a doggy phone right from the start. But op being a member since 2012 should really know this

Because i spoke to Samsung and the told me this :
Please note that the warranty on your device is not transferable, which means that purchases made on eBay through a private seller do not have warranty cover with us.
If u bought it from a private seller then bad luck u don't have ur warranty...

I bought my brand new Galaxy Tab from ebay. It developed a fault so I contacted Samsung and got it returned for repair telling them I didn't have proof of purchase as it was given to me as a birthday gift.
They checked the serial number and imei number and confirmed it was still under warranty, sent me a pre-paid envelope to send the tablet off and hey presto one repaired tablet returned to me

So now you know the policy of Samsung from the horses mouth .
One of the reasons would also be that there is not international warranty cover .
Seller not Samsung is responsible for warranty on goods sold . Samsung's warranty as per the documentation is a limited warranty .
But as others say if you have a warranty problem its worth sending it back .

well with me it's a whole different story my imei changed by flashing a rom so i went back to stock and sent it to them and they didn't say anything about warranty and they returned it saying we can't repair because it is blacklisted now i have emailed them with proof that it isn't blacklisted and now they are giving complete ****

The imei is the only thing they can go on to check the phone out, as long as that is ok then there really shouldn't be a problem.
Your problem is really unfortunate and won't happen very often.

The imei on the phone is changed from the original because of a rom flash but I didn't tell them that it was changed of course, what should I do?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
Your problem (blacklisting, not the change of imei) has nothing to do with Samsung
Blacklisting means the phone has been reported stolen and selling it, buying it or helping with the goods is considered illegal in most countries. (I'm not so sure on the possession, but that probably too)
You should, instead of blaming Samsung, contact your local police authority

My bet is you bought a stolen phone from ebay, couldnt get it sent back ect so tryed to send it in to samsung warranty for them to replace the phone with a new imei lol
but it didnt work...
It's not blacklisted mate I have checked, but the think it is because the imei doesn't match the back because the efs folder was wiped so I blamed Samsung for providing an update that was faulty

Does your mate have insurance for when these things happen? Maybe you can try and work something out with his insurance company. Here in Holland you can take an insurance for those things.

Well... Samsung service center can fix things even if have no warranty, if you pay. However, you can tell them that you have warranty, they will not see the phone is rooted before they will fix the phone. If they find out after, no problem, but the chances are pretty small. If you need to pay the repair, put your friend pay as it was his fault. Ask for repair ticket proof and if you will have future issues be sure the phone is unrooted, go to service with the screen repair proof and they will fix the phone. A friend dropped an S2 while was in warranty, gone to service, fixed the screen (she paid) and didn't lost the warranty.

Almost certainly its hardware and going to fail any manufactures warranty inspection due to water damage . Therefore root does not matter as its a chargeable repair .
Alternative would be a self repair with replacement screen and digitizer . That assumes that the fault is with the digitizer only .

Its possible to change i think but it's illegal so you won't find any help here. Best thing todo is go through ebay and get a refund / chargeback credit card and goto the police. Had this happen to me and the police charged the guy - thats why i only buy directly when it comes to phones.

Sorry to hear you got scammed. Without it necessarily being a stolen phone, it seems that a popular thing is for someone to get the handset as an upgrade, then sell it and a while later declare it lost... Phone gets blocked, insurance gives them a new one and buyer is stuffed.
Hope you can get your money back. Go through Ebay.

no, actually this is the most common scam....people sell their phone and report it stolen not realising it'll be blocked. Your seller most likely didn't sell a stolen phone which could be a protracted case, but most likely sold their own......open and shut fraud case.
The block will definitely not be lifted....it is now just an expensive door stop....you need to pursue an ebay complaint...they will involve the police

I think it might be a good idea to name the seller so we can stay clear away from them, not particularly for me but for others on here.
As for what you can do, I would take the advice from the others here and persue further via Ebay.
All the best buddy
Definitely go through ebay and get a refund, there is no way to unblock it. if you did it would be illegal.
Yeah this is an all too common scan more so on that horrible Gumtree website but it does happen on eBay as well, basically if you paid via PayPal you will get refunded but it'll most likely be a long drawn out process, i rarely use eBay and PayPal anymore their fees are outrageous and if anything happens to go wrong you'll be sending endless emails, etc, etc and you'll be lucky to get a resolution yet they are quick enough to debit any fees that you may owe them cun*s the lot of them.
Hope you get sorted anyway, avoid all these websites like the plague and only buy from reputable websites.
Thank you all

FALSE ! Will be blocked in the whole Europe ! Also it's illegal ! Would you like somebody steal your phone and get out of the country ? Saying this things on forum makes you an accomplice to a robbery.
Request a refund via Ebay and still tell the police. You can also ask your provider if they have any information about your phone and how was blocked. Good luck !
if you paid via PayPal, open a dispute through there rather than ebay itself.

It has a faulty MB and now I have to pay $100 now to replace it.

It depends on whether the bootloader is locked or not , and this of course depends on the phone model .
Many Samsung devices bought on contract from Orange in my country do not have a locked bootloader (Mini 2 doesn't , S3 Mini doesn't , S3 - depends on the carrier) . The thing is you have more chances of faking a Samsung to look like its root hasn't been touched than you would have with any other brand .
Samsung has something called a bin counter - this increments each time a flash has been done on a phone (excluding recovery flashes) . This can be , however , reset to 0 , but it really depends on the phone model . Combine that with removing root access , eventually reflashing the stock firmware and you've got yourself an out-of-the-box-like phone .
Best thing to do is to carefully take a look at the development status of a device before buying it . See what you can do to it and what you cannot P

Ok, so I'm an impatient little bastard and I want to get my phone s-off, but I took the OTA. So, I'm considering "accidentally" dropping my phone in the toilet or bathtub or something, and getting it replaced through the insurance. Here's the only problem: does anyone know if the phone that will come from Asurion will be brand new or "refurbished", and will it already have the OTA preloaded on it, or will it be just a fresh phone with no updates?
