Sense Messaging app on Cm9? - HTC Rezound

Is it possible? I am really missing the group messing that sense integrates.
Sent from my HTC Rezound.

All the Sense apps rely on the Sense framework. It's not possible to use them outside of Sense.

I had a feeling that was going to be the answer. Thanks for the response.

Actually it is possible. JsChiSurf did it for a few of the sense apps on the Evo 4G if I remember correctly. All it should take is moving the dependencies out of the HTC framework, moving it into the specific apk, and rewriting (in smali) the code to pull those resources from the apk. Not an easy task by any means, but it is possible.
Thread here.

It'll be easier once we perform some espionage to get sense source..

Thoughts on devs with sense sdk

I know that we all are used to having mods to AOSP Roms for our phones but has anyone thought about what the devs will be able to do once HTC releases the SDK for Sense? They already said that the libraries for 3D will be included so I think that we will see some interesting things from this. Optimized sense builds with 3D features added, etc?
It really depends on how much they will release on what we will be able to do with it.
i'm thinking 3d boobie widgets and lots of them!
Its an SDK, so if made correctly, just more packages you can import into Eclipse or your favorite Java IDE. Strictly for Sense apps, to utilize Sense features. Nice because it sorta forces some UI guidelines.
I guess its cool, but putting those apps on the market makes them very HTC only / Sense only / some minimum version of Sense required... That will alienate many potential users / downloads / customers if you will.
In general its good, but this could definitely lead to some sort of HTC App store (might already exist???). And honestly, I would kinda have mixed feelings about that.
We shall see what happens.

Well it's easy to target specific sense version phones when publishing to the market

My point is you screw over Samsung, Motorola, Sony, etc... phone owners because they will not be able to use your app because they don't have Sense.
Its like making a site with Flash content. My rule on that is : only if I ****ing have to. I would prefer HTML solutions (anything standards based like with jQuery effects instead or whatever)

more then likely work will be uploaded to htc hub

But they won't be able to see the app on the market

It's not since HTC aren't fully cooperating with our definition of open source. They refuse to release the source for the TI wifi drivers so it makes it very difficult to compile custom kernels.
AND
We can't get s-off. So don't ask.
AND
We still can't flash boot.img files (kernels) by recovery.
AND
We don't have a lot of developers here in the Amaze section to begin with. Poor xboarder.

[Q]ICS Gmail, Gtalk, and Calendar apks

I was wondering if it was possible to install these on my amaze. My Flyer running Honeycomb is able to use them. If I can use them could someone post a link to them and if they aren't out there, is anyone willing to modify them to work on the Amaze?

Anyone?

you can download Gmail app and google talk app from the market. as for the calendar apk. someone has to post the file..
edit: nevermind your talking about Ics...In that case I don't know.
To the best of my knowledge it won't work; though I wasn't aware that they worked on honeycomb. Honeycomb is really almost a very rough draft of Ics so I guess that makes sense.
Gingerbread is vastly different and I am about 100% sure it won't. They use a different framework that gingerbread just doesn't have.

Alright thanks, do you know if it's possible to implement the part of the ICS framework they need to run?
When I try to install the apks it gives me a parsing error, is that due to the framework problem?
Could this maybe get moved to the Apps forum or the Development forum, whichever it fits in. I figure I might get more help/answers from there.
I've tried to install apks from ics roms I've downloaded and they all say parse error

They'll never work because they require API elements introduced in 4.0 to function properly.

But they work in 3.2 so does 3.2 have the same API?

Cause 3.2 was what 4.0 built off of. 2.3 is very far gone from android 3.x... And even further gone from 4.0, at least in layman's terms.

sense 2.1 answer screen?

wasn't there a mod to give you back the sense 2.1 answer screen when a call comes through?

Nah, different resolution.
We would actually need sense 2.1 or a similar device to of had it to implement it
I'm sure its possible but its not a demand with the rezound because we don't have the 3.5 answer bug the thunderbolt had

Gadget! Has a few but unlike the thunderbolt this isn't such a popular thing here either its pretty sad, such great hardware but not a lot of dev support

Its because of the fact that we can't easily modify sense 3.5 and 3.6 because the tools we use to make these mods like the lockrings and stuff don't work on our version of sense yet.

maybe/maybe not...the mods for choosing lockscreen are in com.htc.framework.jar (at least in gb) and its as simple as changing "2.1" to "3.0 " in 2 or 3 places in one smali file or vice versa for older sense....that may or may not work on sense 3.5/3.6 (i dont have a rezound to try)
as long as the resources are in place (ie pngs still in com.htc.resources.apk and methods in the smali) it would possibly work...but again no way for me to know
Yeah, the lock ring can be a bit of a pain to answer at times. Half the time it doesn't seem to work quite right, and I have to move it slowly to the answer area. I'm 100% stock too, so I'm not sure what the issue is. Of course when I call myself to test, it works perfectly every time.

It is. If you want HTC's keyboard, you will need an HTC device or a Sense ROM.
