So I had loved my Razr and my fiance got my a 4S so i ditched the razr and for some reason went to the iPhone. I just found my Razr in a drawer in my garage and its time to go back to my Droid, I missed it so much.
Thing is I plugged it in and let it charge for an hour or two and its stuck on the Moto insignia/dual core boot screen.
It was rooted/rommed when i was using it but it was in perfect working order when i put it in the box. Is my phone bricked out of no where or something? Is there something that we could try to use to bring it back to life?
Any suggestions?
go to recovery and wipe it.

Turn it off, then turn it on pressing all buttons together, when you see a different screen use the VOL DOWN key to reach the RECOVERY option and then use the VOL UP key to select it. After that a logo of Android will appear on the screen, now you have to press both volume buttons at once to enter recovery menu. Now just go to WIPE CACHE and WIPE DALVIK (this is in the Advanced option). After this just go to REBOOT NOW and you're done!
Ps. In the recovery menu you have to use the power button to select things.
I don't know how much do know about these kind of stuff so I made myself very clear and put it step-by-step for you don't get lost in the procedure!
Glad you came back to the green side of the force! LOL
Help!

Hey guys I need your help asap!!!
I already rooted my HTC Thunderbolt but I'm still fairly new to all of this. I was going through my phone and I seen that I had a firmware update available so I decided to start it up. I thought it would be a quick and easy update so started the update and left the room. I came back 2 hours later and my thunderbolt had a black screen with a exclamation mark inside of a triangle to the left of a little android guy. I couldn't leave that screen unless I pressed the power button and volume keys at the same time. Once rebooted everything looks normal, and everything begins to load up but only 10 secs later my phone begins to power down again and I have no control of it. Once powered down, a loading droid comes up as if something is starting to download, but once the loading bar reaches the middle of the status bar, the image I mentioned earlier comes up again.
If it helps the last two things I have changed on my thunderbolt was I flashed Lean Kernel extreme and installed Launcher Pro....Any help is appreciated, I just hope I didn't do what I think I did (bricked it)

It doesn't give me time to get to my Rom manager
You are rooted so u shouldnt have done that update...
hold the power button and the volume down button at the same time...see if you can boot into recovery....
damn...so what do you suggest???
read my post # 5
yeah when I do that I just reboot back to the phone again then 10secs after Im rebooted, it says "powering down" and gives me the same exclamation mark inside the triangle and the little android guy next to it

when you hold down the power button and volume down and it reboots....doesn't it go to a white screen? I beleive it says recovery in blue......if you use the volume down to highlight it...then press the power button.....it should reboot into recovery.......
alright I just turned it off and I pressed the power button and the volume down....the white screen came up and its now asking me if I want to start update. If I press the "no" option I should be good right? I just want to make sure before I do anything else

what you have to do....is let the phone reboot normally.....then when the phone bbot up...connect to your computer.....delete the radio file on your SD card...it will say something like PG51....zip...then hold the power button and volume down.....then it will not ask you for an update when it reboots...then you can go and highlight recovery...
Do you think it will be just as effective if I took my sd card out and just deleted that file you mentioned?? because seeing that my phone turns off after only a few secs of it being rebooted I dont have enough time to syc it to my computer

that will work!!! take out the card...delete the radio file....should be PG51xx.zip...put it back...hold power button and volume down button...phone reboots into white screen...use volume button to highlight recovery...then push power button....phone will reboot into recovery.....
also..save the file that you are deleting off the sd card...you will need to reinstall after you restore the rom you want...
okay so I guess I ended up doing it the hard way but its cool I guess...
basically I held the volume down button and then pressed and held the power button until hboot comes on like you said but it didn't allow me to select anything other than "yes" or "no" to continue the update or not. It will check the file, then ask if I wanted to update. I pressed volume up for yes. After update, I pressed power to reboot.
After pressing the down key to stop the update, and I seen that it didn't work after 5 or 6 tries (because it just rebooted and did nothing), I just pressed the volume up.
Once it rebooted after I pressed the volume up key it restored my phone like the first day I got it. its a little annoying because now I have to download everything again but at least its not bricked
Thanks a lot man, I completely appreciate your time and effort...
glad you

glad you got it...but all you had to do is delete the PG51..zip file off your SD card and you would have been able to reboot into recovery...if you have the P51...zip file on your phone.....it will ALWAYS ask you to update....
For the record, when that black screen with the exclamation mark comes up, you are in recovery. All you had to do was press menu. I just made this same mistake like a noob, now I gotta wait until my lunch break to fix it.
This is a pretty common mistake
ok so I'm new to this forum, was suggested to go here when i got my first smartphone.
So basically my idiot friends were messing with my phone with the pattern lock. They messed it up 15 times and now I have to sign in with my gmail. But the problem is that whenever I try to sign in, it gives me invalid username/password. I know I'm putting in the right password and right username because I've done it about a million times on my computer and tried to unlock my phone about the same amount of times. I've also tried all my other gmails that my phone is registered with but none work.
I'm still on stock ICS because im new to the android world and haven't gotten around to figuring out everything. Thanks for helping!
Okay first did you possibly have your Android debugging on? If not the only way us a factory reset. You can reset it by turning it off, hold down power and volume down. While holding volume down let go of the power. Then using your volume keys select factory reset and select with the power button.

Okay so first press down the Vol. Down button. Next press the power button firmly for 3 seconds. DO NOT let go of the Volume down button till a white screen (Your bootloader) appears. Then use the volume buttons to select factory reset (If it's not there look for bootloader or somthing like that) press the power button to select.
Volia your phone is now factory reset!

So I've had my atrix unlocked for some time and have had Epinter's android 4.2.1 running on it smoothly. One day I tried to turn it on and it would only go to the boot logo screen (Motorola for stock) and i cant enter fastboot by using the volume keys. Further, the status light never lights up. This may have happened about a week after installing winterboard (port from iOS) probably a dumb choice, but.
can anyone advise if this is bricked, or a way i can get into fastboot and wipe the thing? any advice is appreciated
no input?! I just read somewhere i may be get it into AP fastboot by holding down both volume keys and power button. would love to get this phone working again!

So if you read something, why haven't you taken the initiative to try it out?
I have. And no luck. just says unlocked and will not toggle through options (fastboot etc). I included it in the post so it wasnt a lame 'bump' post. but thanks for your lame bump post.

Just so we are sure, you were holding down the 'Vol down' key while simultaneously pressing the 'Power' button and the text 'Fastboot' didn't show up, is that right?
Also, did the phone have CWM installed?
Yes. clockwork is installed. Yes I held volume down and power.
If you notice when you cold boot your phone a status light appears before the splash screen, and then turns off. Mine.. Doesnt ever turn on.

^ Unfortunately, that does not sound good at all. Did you have the 'fastboot' options (and the other menu items) enabled before? Would you happen to know exactly what made it go away? Because without that support, there's very little you can do.
You could try charging the battery separately, but I'm not so sure. We might need to know what was done/flashed to get into this state.
Press power + volume up, does it do something?
yes I previously had the option to go into fastboot and the other options (bypass motoblur etc) neither volume up nor volume down get me to the other options - it only stays at saying 'unlocked'.
Maybe the volume keys are broken?
I did install Winterboard by Saurik and that may have caused this problem.
I have used a different battery/charged the battery separately and still nothing.
So the power button on my GS3 is fried. (I am pretty sure at least)
Anyways at this point that is not really the problem. So a few hours ago I was able to boot my phone back up without the power button by taking the battery out and putting it back in. However, silly me wanted to boot into recovery to try something, but now my phone won't even boot. When I take the battery out and put it back in, it boots to the screen where it says "booting recovery" on the top left and then stops working. If I try to go into download mode, it shows the screen asking me if I want to go into download mode and regardless of if i press volume up or volume down the phone stops working.
I'm hoping there is some nifty work around for this. Should be fun Thank you in advance!
EDIT: In short, I am looking for a way to cancel booting into recovery.
Sounds like you will have to replace the power button before you get to see if the emmc chip is corrupt. Unplanned shut down can corrupt the partition being written: system, data or recovery.

I updated to Lollipop a several days ago through Kies. My battery life was not good so I did a factory reset. I reinstalled my apps and set up the phone the way I wanted it and it worked properly for a couple of days, still not happy with battery life. Yesterday I found that when I set the phone on the wireless charger the wireless charging notification came on lighting up the screen and the screen would not shut off. I googled it and all I find is to go to developer options and uncheck the stay awake which I have done, it was not checked so I checked and unchecked it same thing happens. I restarted the phone several times. I made sure Daydream is off. I uninstalled the last apps I installed. I tried to plug the wire into the phone to charge it same thing happens. I found that if I unlock the phone then set it on the charger it will time off ok, but if a notification comes in the screen lights up and does not shut down. I found that if I push the power button the screen goes off and stays off until a notification comes in and the screen lights up and stays on. My next step is to factory reset again but I wanted to see if anyone has another suggestion before I reset. Any help will be appreciated.
You may try wiping the cache. I'm assuming you didn't have this problem before the factory reset and not immediately after the factory reset. Now this is just a suggestion but I'd try this before I did a factory reset. I'm guessing you are not rooted and you are running stock so your recovery will be stock. To enter recovery power off your phone then while off hold the volume up, power, and home button at the same time. Hold and you'll see "Recovery Booting" in the upper left. You can let go of the buttons now. You should have stock recovery now booted up. Using the volume keys scroll down and pick "wipe cache partition" Use the power button to select. Once it's done and it won't take long. It will be on "Reboot" go ahead and select that. With any luck that may solve your problem.

You are correct that I did not have the problem before or after the factory reset and I am on stock and not rooted. I am trying your suggestions now and will report back thank you.
Thank you for the suggestions however it did not solve the problem, but after I wiped the cache I found that the T-Mobile My Account was staying in the notifications and showing that I was close to my 3GB high speed data. I turned off the notifications and now I have a normal working phone again that shuts off the screen when charging.

Glad to hear it. Yeah, I would have suggested shutting off those notifications just so they don't bother you. Anytime I want to know what T-Mobile has to say I just open up the app and look. I'm on wifi 90% of my time so I don't see using my quota anytime soon.
My sister updated her phone and somehow keep screen on while charging got enabled as well.
I had to enable developer settings (double tap build number 5 times) and uncheck keep screen on while charging.

Same thing happened to my wife's phone.
Little surprised to see this enabled on a pure stock device.
