Hi Guys,
First of all thanks for helping me out.
I am developing an application using Google Maps API. It is an Android developement.
My problem is I need to get the coordinates of all locations within a certain marked area of a KML file. it is a KML which was created using boundary coordinates.
My application needs to enable the user to key in the exact location. After that my application will need to get the coordinates from Google Map and match it to the exact location on the KML file. It has to be based on exact coordinates.
The problem is, since the KML does not have all the coordinates, I am unable to pin point to the exact location.
I believe I can overlay the KML on the Google Map and that way capture all the coordinates of the marked areas within the KML. Is that possible as now I just am so stuck.
I hope someone can help me out here, emailing me at [email protected]
Your kind assistance is very much appreciated.
Regards,
Venot

So I am in Korea and google maps is worthless for searching since the name of businesses are in Korean. I would like to save points of interest for future reference (For example the grocery store).
Any idea how to do this? I know on a PC I can use the map editor, but that doesn't help me when I am on the road, and I cannot find the place on google maps later. I would rather save my GPS location and give it a name.
Hello Everyone,
I'm building my first android app with Google Maps and have a running app where I can add markers to the map etc.
I can't figure out how to load markers from a database and show information in a popup.
I'm targeting apps like Gasbuddy, where prices are shown realtime.
Can someone help me in the right direction?
Thanks alot
Hi all,
Previously if you sent your location to someone (ie. through whatsapp) and you viewed that location it would be the exact location that was sent. But now after the update it seems to show you the closest POI. For example, I'm at a large park and send the location of where our group is to someone who just arrived. When the view the location in the latest maps it shows the the main point of the park, not the location I sent them. Makes finding your car in the parking lot difficult also.
Is there any setting (which I couldn't find) that will make it show the exact location again? For now I've just uninstalled the update.
Edit: I'm trying to display a PIN at specific coordinates on the map but instead it shows the closest POI or street
Thanks.
Hello everybody,
Been looking for a while for a GPS based location and directions app that has the following functionality
1. Pinpoint any location on a map and save the location by giving it a unique ID (alphanumeric)
2. Share this ID with your friends using the same app by sending this ID via the app or email or sms.
3. Users use this ID for location and/or directions instead of typing the entire address or GPS coordinates.
4. App can use google maps or Nokia maps or other maps.
Please suggest some apps with similar functionality.
Much appreciated.

I am currently working on my own android app and I do some calculations and method calls there and finally get latitude and longitude of one point where I want to navigate to and have the latitude and longitude from my current location. Now I have some options from here on:
1. I embed existing navigation on Android in my application.
2. I start an extern navigation application via intent.
Both ways are used to help the user to navigate to the location.
When I finally reached the destination then my own app should handle this and send a message to a server. This is easier when my own app is in the foreground on the phone.
Some ideas what way I should use and if one explains me with what. I read something about Grasshopper etc. but I am not confident what to use.
Hopefully someone here can help me or just write down their opinion.
