MIUI probably is upgradable OTA, but Wizzed Bean, I have it here in my phone, the 1st release, and it's not upgradable OTA, I don't know if the 2nd release will be to the 3rd.

I update my s3 to android 4.1.1 yesterday. Then I saw a leaked rom android 4.1.2 in sammobile today. I installed it and found out that it has a lot of bugs. I tried to install android 4.1.1 back and after install, my phone cannot boot. What should I do?
One more thing, I can stall android 4.1.2 (the leaked rom) and can reboot. But I cannot reboot after I install android 4.1.1 rom.
try a factory reset
Thx. I fix it. :good::good::good::good:

You're confused.
Firstly, Android is a free OS that carriers/developers can use. What your referring to as "newly official released 4.1.2 Jelly Bean" is simply Samsung using a version of Android OS and then adding their software/tweaks to it. They happen to have used v4.1.2 of Android for their latest release.
Latest version of Android is v4.2.1 which is what Cyanogenmod is based on.
CM looks more like real stock Android whereas Samsung rom has a completely different UI experience as it uses its own TouchWiz UI.
If you want to know differences try them.
I recently got a OTA update msg to update to Jelly Bean, though when I go through with it, the update will fail at a kindle app I removed using titanium backup. Is there a way I could take the full jelly bean rom, full ICS rom, or full gingerbread rom to then flash onto the phone? if anyone could respond you would make my day!
Hello everyone, recently my friend wants to update his S3 android from 4.1.2 to 4.4, but however the OTA software update shows that the newest update has been installed
How can he get an update of android of his S3? His phone information are as below , please ignore the Chinese characters
Btw he wants to try UPSM on his phone, does he need to root his phone
Please help me
No 4.4 update was released for i9300. The last firmware is 4.3 (you can find HERE).
If he really wants 4.4 or above... yeah he needs root. The most similar ROM for i9300 version 4.4 is the back-to-n00t by arter97.
Cheers.

Thanks a lot
do I need to install a universal offical ROM to let him update from 4.1 to 4.3 via OTA?
No, if 4.1 is official just download and flash via Odin the 4.3.
I had android jelly beans installed in my phone and I wanted to try the newest version of android so I updated my phone to android 5.0.1 but I did not like it so I tried to downgrade my phone back to version 4.2.2
I searched the internet for how to downgrade my phone.I found that I have to download the stock ROM for the version that I want to downgrade to.I downloaded the stock ROM for android jelly beans the exact version That was installed in my phone before I updated it.But when I flashed my phone with this ROM, the phone just hang at Samsung logo.So I downloaded the ROM for android kitkat a more updated version. It worked however now I cannot install any app in the phone. When I try to install from the cmd it returns INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT .And when I try to install from google play it returns "Tty again ,and if the problem continues ,get help troubleshooting.(Error code:-24)"
