I did a quick search and didn't see anything so sorry if this is a repeat. My friend has the VZW Note II and I used ExynosAbuse to root it for him. He's planning on unlocking the bootloader later on but I wanted to check one thing. Will removing bloatware do anything to the phone while the bootloader is still locked? I have an LG spectrum and while it had a locked bootloader you couldn't remove certain apps without causing a soft brick. I wanted to check before I tell him it's safe to get rid of stuff.
If he has root, I would do a system back up of all the apps first. It should be safe to remove the bloat but to be sure just do a quick Google search of it( "app name" safe to remove). I have removed a majority of the bloat but then again I'm unlocked. Just do not remove anything that you have no idea what it is. If you find yourself with a long list of apps that you have no idea if they are safe to remove AND Google isn't helping, make a new question and post them here, I'll take a look at then

Ok, I searched the forum and can't find anything specific on this. I watched a video about the Gnote on Youtube. Lisa from Mobiletech review said that At&t now allows you to delete some of their apps. There were only two apps she mentioned that couldn't be deleted.
I just wanted to know if this is true because, I plan on deleting as many as I can that I don't want or need when I get this phone (I have over 100 of my own apps).
Sorry if this has been asked before but, everytime I see a thread about deleting apps, it's about a rooted phone. I may root the Gnote in the future but, for now I jusy want to know what I can delete when using a stock unrooted phone.
You can't delete apps without root, however you can uninstall some of them without root. Just go into setting application and uninstall whatever apps show up there.
There are a couple. Off hand I think you can uninstall facebook, social hub, google maps, street view.
But yeah you really need to root to make the phone how you want without no bloat
Hi,
Does anyone have a list of unneeded services for my stock JB S3 please as I'm trying to optimize performance.*
I have tried searching the forum for "unneeded services" and "bloatware" but both searches have been unsuccessful.
Also is there any benefit to a lot of the stock Samsung apps, or am I ok to delete them? If I do delete them, can I just redownload them from the play/Samsung app store?
Any help offered would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks

check this sticky in the apps and themes. it talks about what is safe to "freeze" or remove

It also seems like it's sorta kinda a work in progress still.. so if you happen to do more than that... you can probably help the OP update the list.
Keep in mind that in order to uninstall stock apps or disable some startup services, you necessarily need to root your phone.
I have a Lenovo K3 Note. It doesn't have a forum section, so I thought this would be a good place. But there's a further complication. I imported my phone from China.
It has AVG antivirus and an app called "Safe center". Both are blocking my way to the internet(but only on 3G/4G, wifi's okay). I want to uninstall both. I went into app manager(I have Android 5.0 on it) but when I clicked on both apps, the button where it says "uninstall" is gray and it is unclickable.
So now what? How do I get rid of them both in a safe and secure manner? Thanks!
I believe the phone will need to be rooted to remove these apps. I have the same device and wish to remove this bloatware too. Sorry I can't be of any more help.
Hopefully someone will develop a root program soon!

So you need a special program for the phone? There isn't a general program?
Edit: I played around a little bit more in the phone. Even Twitter is a "system app". Seriously. Are there settings to be changed that needs to be changed or is rooting the only option?
I probably phrased that wrong, but what we need is to gain "root access" to be able to remove these programs.
Essentially most android phones come with some form of restrictions on them, which having "root access" will allow you to bypass!
The process to root each android phone is slightly different, and therefore, it could take some time before someone is able to do it and tell us how.

Rooting Process for S4
I am totally new to rooting. I need to remove built in apps on my Samsung S4 i9505. Doors I have to root the phone first and remove apps after with Titanium back up app? Or can I remove apps without rooting? Please help

Root is required with any Android phone to remove system apps. If you root, be very careful though. If you're new to rooting, it's very easy to do the wrong thing, and/or think you're more clever than you actually are, and make a catastrophic mistake (I speak from experience). FYI, removing a system app won't free up space; it's in the system partition, which has a set size, and deleting system apps won't give you more space for other apps or whatever.
Without root, you should still be able to disable system apps, which has essentially the same effect as removing them. But again, be careful. If in doubt, ask. There's a couple "noob, ask anything" threads, and you shouldn't feel embarrassed or intimidated to ask questions that you might think would annoy others because they're too "noobish". We'd rather you didn't mess up your phone than bother us with "stupid" questions.
As mentioned, you need root. However, I do not recommend removing the apps, for 2 reasons. 1, you don't get any additional storage back on your device as the apps and data you add to the device are stored in a different partition anyway. And 2, if you want to do an OTA update or if you remove an important app or service, it's much easier to reenable vs reinstall. Now, if system apps have updated through the Play Store, then those do take up some data. You can uninstall updates, then freeze the app, which is the safest way to do it. Many apps can just be disabled through the stock Application Manager without root as well.
Thanks lot for your advice

So i've unlocked my bootloader and rooted my H850.
I'm looking to see what's safe to remove, I've so far removed most google apps that are pre-installed apart from the ones i need, now i ask which LG apps are safe to remove without causing problems.

Mind u I use the debloated Fluence HD ROM and patch, but I only disable apps the system let's me disable... Between my g3 and now g5 I've found that system performs worse when I do more than disable apps the system thinks it needs...I doubt that is true for 100% of apps but I get incredible battery life using that and other methods...
Just my two cents...
Yeah I've used the list of apps that has been removed from the Fluence HD Patch from thread, cheers.
I'm sure they're more that are safe to remove though.
