As the title, is anyone trying to unlock lumia 800 with locked bootloader? Or is it all stop?
Yeah i wonder if there's anybody still working on it. It would be great. I really wanted to install custom roms on my lumia 800.
Me too.... other wise i am screwed!
Is anybody there? xD
apparently not lol
best thing we have right now is developer unlock via sdk which is 10 hombrew apps and of course 7.8 if its use to you
How this method works? Thanks

you download the sdk from http://dev.windowsphone.com/en-us/downloadsdk and install it then run the developer registration program but it costs a fee unless you have dreamspark

load qualcomm and then custom rom
If It was so simple I would had done it, my near phone store with ATF is over 100km far
Anybody knows why there are at least 3 different (signed) versions of the nokia bootloader? Did they fix some bug?
Are they really different? Or just the same code with different signatures?
i don't think anything will come for lumia 800. no-one gives a fu** serious enough about WP developing/hacking/modding,
"if you want custom roms, go for android" i would say.

"or go and buy atf box and gpg testpoint cable" i would say.
Then you don't have to do any soldering.
("Sadly") that's the only way, til now, to put qualcomm onto your lumia 800. But it is a way. Better then absolutely no solution.
So, you can decide if you want to spend money on that box + cable, or not.

@blackburner: Thanks, good to know.
Heh?
I don't exactly understand (because i am a noob :silly, but aren't there Custom Roms out there like RainbowMod that can only be flashed with an unlocked device?
So how do the other people unlock their Lumia 800s and 710s to flash custom roms on it?
if you have a bootloader qualcomm (unlockable) then you can flash custom rom and unlock the phone, if you do not have this requirement can not do anything (for now)
EDIT: if it helps I can try to flash the 3 variants and see if one of them has the bootloader unlocked, or lost work?
Oh, so you need luck to have the right bootloader.
Anyway to know before ordering the smartphone
I assume the new batch will all have a locked bootloader....

You could flash the oldest but as far as I know it's locked. I've been poking arround on the 710 unlocked bootloader and it has references to Nokia DLOAD. My guess is that nokia has in a hurry an made a few mistakes. I don't see a reason to have so many different bootloaders. Now if someone tried to disassemble the bootloader and check for bugs like an incomplete signature check.

Hello
Just purchased a SK17i Xperia Mini Pro Black Version that is locked to 02 (UK network). I am obvously new to all this stuff but do have a basic understanding but here are some questions:
1) I am thinking of waiting until Android 4.0 is Officially released by SE to update my phone (btw, anyone know when the update is coming). Was wondering when I update will I still be able to root my phone?
2) When I root (if I can) I want to install Set CPU to overclock my phone. However I have heard this drains batteries? Is this true and if so how can I make my phone faster?
3) I need to unlock my phone. Can this be done for free after rooting? If not, can someone link me to the cheapest place I can get this unlocked from?
Thanks in advance to anyone that answers
Hey dude,welcome to XMP family.
1)According to Xperia Blog,XMP will get the ICS update in the end of May or early June, after the first wave for arcS,neoV and ray.I don't know whether we can root it on official ICS or not,but I think to get a rooted phone is easy once you unlock the bootloader, and besides, there are so many developers here.
2)When it comes to overclocking, apparently it would cause battery drain faster. But with my experience,I hardly feel its difference on SE stock Rom.As for custom rom like FXP's,which I has used for a while,it drains about 2~3% per hour while idle(drop speed is two times than stock.)
3)Certainly you can unlock your phone for free, see this thread & tutorial. But it should be noticed that once you unlock it then you may invalidate your warranty.
Mine is on FXP CM9(ICS) and it's kind of laggy, but I can't tell it's because of the ICS rom or existed bugs.As SE said,we may not have the same experience like Gingerbread if we update to ICS.

Hello mate, thanks for the great post
I think I will leave stock ROM once updated actually, seems to be running fine atm as it is.
I think I will still update to the official ICS when it comes out as does look worth it.
Just about no. 3) I think your talking about after rooting, the process to get custom ROMs by unlocking the bootloader? I was talking about the network? lol
Unless I'm mistaken?
Thanks again

There is no way to get your phone unlocked from a network for free but WontanServer offers an unlocking for $15. You can try that out. Just type WontanServer in Google and click the 1st link. WontanServer is legit and won't steal your money
Though as a warning you might not be able to update to ICS as it also might unlock your bootloader. Just double check, as I am not 100% sure. Also it will void your warranty

good thing in the sense? If you don't bother about warranty then you can try custom ROM ics.but the problem is some bugs are not fixed by developers they will take time.main bug is camera not working..i am using ics so just check k? Good luck

He meant that the Wotanserver network-unlock method might unlock your bootloader (which it does). This bootloader unlock, whilst giving you access to custom ROMs etc, might not behave with official SONY updates (such as ICS) - I'd link you for proof but I'm not allowed to due to my low post count .
Also, Google 'Omnius Unlock'. They will unlock your phone for free over the next few days (Easter promotion). I'm not sure how reputable those guys are though so you'll want to check.
Thanks for that Omnius Lock thing, looks great and will check it out
So, if I unlock it I may be unable to upgrade to 4.0? That is a bit stupid to say the least? Anyone on an Xperia that was unlocked then ugraded to 4.0? Did it become locked again?

If your phone's bootloader is unlocked you can not recieve any official update through Sony as it will brick your phone but you can install a ICS ROM.

Well I'm not sure about 'stupid', you'll have to weigh it up. If you look in the development section, there's already a very useable version of ICS (look for MiniCMSanwich), which is potentially better than Sony's bloatware-infused and themed version (not to mention probably unrootable) due in a couple of months.
I think it's mainly FOTA bricks that happen (over-the air updating from Sony), and some bootloader unlocks allow for this by just patching the bootloader to make it seem unlocked (any SETool unlock will do this). So there are a number of options.
Be careful also of some bootloader methods stripping the DRM keys, these are used by Sony services like TrackID, which will cease to work (permanently) following a bootloader unlock.
Edit: There's a distinct difference between a network unlock and a bootloader unlock, the former will nearly always also execute the latter, but the latter can be done by itself (obviously only on unbranded phones). The method of getting a custom ROM is basically network unlock > bootloader unlock > root > install custom kernel > install custom ROM. Root can be done before the unlocks, I believe.
I'm new to all this too, only trying to explain because I know how much of a total pain it was to work it all out .

So if I do unlock through the Wotanserver place, my bootloader will be unlocked but I wouldn't be able to get official ICS, but a just as good if not better copy? Is the ROM fully stable as in does everything function fine? I have heard of an ICS ROM which stopped HD recording on Xperias. Does this have any such problem?

And just generally, can I add that this is the way to get MiniCMSanwich ROM on my XMP:
Root (zerg's software) (not needed but useful so might as well do it then)
Unlock Bootloader (from SE's website or the link which hopefully the above poster/someone else gives me)
Kernel Installation (Flashtool)
Finally, flash the ROM and Gapps using Clockwork Mod Recovery

It is the same unlock method, just everything brought to one place by that app maker.
Rooting your phone before custom ROM installation is not needed, because old ROM(stock) gets deleted anyway and custom ROMs include root already.

I've been reading all day, yet I still don't have it quite clear.
My phone can not unlock the BL, therefore regardless how many firmwares I will flash it I won't be able to remove branded apps, right? because I need it rooted to remove the apps I don't want.
On the other hand, If I get a code to remove the sim lock when the time comes and the BL may be unlocked, will I be able to unlock the BL, I read in a post something that confused me regarding unlocking the sim by a code from a internet provider, but don't remember where.
Thank You
I got mine networked unlocked and the bootloader is still locked. From my understanding it does not change it to yes by unlocking sim. I have only seen 2 people who said this method worked for them compared to the dozens that tried with no luck.
the only way to have your xperia rooted is through the unlocking BL and flashing rooted kernel or rooted system.img at this time. I suppose in the future there will be more options of doing it, so maybe that will solve your problem of locked BL.
i don't know if there is still the testpoint method for the xps.. but if yes you could try that .. should work afaik.. and if not then just wait for another root method

I have done already, two actually, the CE1 Generic and the NL Generic(because I heard of the speed).
Before I flash them I got from Antutu 6580
When I flashed the CE1 lower to 6520
And with the NL 6460 and now is 6634
But still some of the apps that came with the phone are still there, seems like the only way to get rid of them is only rooting.
I can't wait to get a way to do it.
By the way does anybody knows of a North America firmware for the LT26i, I can not find one. I live in El Salvador and I want my phone with a firmware for Latin America or the States, main reason is Google Voice another is that if I want to buy something from the Google Play the prices appears in Euros €.

I use unlocked phone, but I guess you can go to sonymobile.com and use sony bootloader unlock to get a code for unlocking your bootloader, although since u have a branded phone you may need a code from your career. when you got the code use fastboot to unlock it. other than these, if you just want root, flash your phone with flashtool to any rom you like. you dont need any bl unlocking for this and you still get the updates from sony. you dont even need any code from career or sony. since xperia S is new there might not be any prerooted rom so be patient and let the xda developers play around to find a way.
Hello, the code desimlockage operator does not allow unlocking

Antutu ratings fluctuate hugely on their own, test three times in a row and you probably wont get the same result each time.
Use Quadrant as your standard
I think you should wait for another way of rooting

NO.
For Lumia 800 there is no firmware available, which includes qualcomm bootloader!
Lumia 800 is NOT 710!
Right now, you need special hardware to put Qualcomm onto your DLOAD Lumia 800.

Sorry, i didn't understand exactly, what you mean...
But as a general information:
You can only change/modd things on your Lumia if you have the unlocked qualcomm bootloader.
But you can not just easily "install" this bootloader, because there is no signed version available.
You need special hardware (ATF Box) and good soldering skills to do that.
At least right now. But we don't know what will happen in the future.
Ok thanks guy, before I asked: in the future it will be possible modding Lumia 800? or is this a dream? only hardware changes you can do this?

i think DLOAD will never be "hacked"...
I don't think people still spend their time on trying to unlock the DLOAD bootloader.
A couple of months ago, there was a lot progress on this, but DLOAD couldn't be unlocked. Instead the devs found ways of replacing DLOAD with the unlocked QUALCOMM bootloader.
But for now, the Lumia 7.8 devices are too old, i think it's not "worth enough" to keep on working on "old" devices...
In my opinion, it's absolutely awesome that you can replace the bootloader with atf.
I think we have to be happy with that.

I live in Syria and all we have limited options for phones so I was very excited to learn that a xiaomi dealer started selling a couple of models one of them being the Redmi Note 3 specially with my 4 years old Nexus 5 battery almost dying so I payed 200$ to buy this phone which is A LOT of money here only because I noticed how much Roms and Mods it has and now after about 10 days of buying it I still get the error when trying to unlock the boot loader at 50% "Current account is different from the account info on the device" even after trying all the tutorials I found about turning gps and find my phone and locating the phone on the map and using the developer Rom still the same result.
I really really need root and having the phone without even the ability to root makes it unusable but selling the phone will lose me most of the price since the brand is unknown in my country so I have to sell for much less than what I bought for
I'm writing this just to ask the xda people is there ANY way at all to save me from selling the phone because I like it but I just can't be without root I'm willing to pay money just please any solution
if there's nothing I'll just sell and probably never buy a Xiaomi product again in my life I know Xiaomi doesn't care but I just had to say it because I'm so angry

you don't need root to have the opportunity to install custom roms all you need is unlocked bootloader. I guess you tried unlock bootloader by official method and it doesn't work for you, so try unofficial method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/method-miui-8-unlock-bootloader-twrp-t3529458 (with youtube video step by step)

it worked thank you so much ❤❤
Salam brother, im sorry for whats going on in syria...
You should unlock it unofficially, because i have been doing it too.
Have you flashed the developer rom from the updater app? (from the phone itself)
You first need to have this rom on the device in order to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe all your phone's data.
@mshtob You have to wait 7 days more after getting unlock permissions. Unofficial version have some flaws,do read more about it. I recommend you to go back locked bootloader after 1month then try unlocking official way. Also when unlocked unofficially, do cross check before flashing firmware as some firmwares lock device. It will create more problems for u.
Regards
Stop getting mad like an underage kid my friend, you just need to unlock your bootloader officially being in a official ROM and it works without problems because I didt it a lot of times in different versions with the official method.
If you don't like Xiaomi don't buy their phones. Also 200 dollars isn't a lot, you will pay a lot of stuff in your life. Phones are a need, not a toy to install custom roms. If you like to test ROMs and stuff I encourage you to test with your Nexus 5 or get another Nexus/Motorola.
I also have a Nexus 5 btw.
After unlock unofficially you have to delete EMMC appsboot. bin in firmware update folder in any miui rom with the help of RAR App from play store, which relock your phone. And use this patched twrp

You don't need to unlock your bootloader in order to flash any custom ROM. Just follow the instructions on the following thread, and you will be able to run all Kenzo custom Roms and kernels.
