Hello~
My galaxy note is from Canada Rogers, it says i717 when i plug it into the computer, so i assume this is the right place to post this.
I am new to Android, so i was wondering:
if i root my galaxy note, does it become carrier unlocked as well?
I see tons of websites offering unlocking codes for about 20 bucks, should i use those to unlock or is it possible to do it myself like rooting?
Thanks for any help offered!
Root is not a carrier unlock function.
Carrier unlock is a separate process, usually a pay service via unlock code.
You do not require root to carrier unlock the device.
If you desire root access for flashing roms etc. ...see the "super everything thread "....
Located at the top of the general section as a sticky thread.
Pay very close attention to ensure you are reading the proper threads for your device.
Read, read, and read again until you fully comprehend the steps taken for successful rooting.
The super thread will give you all of the information you will need .....g

A good friend gave me a SGS Vibrant and I have AT&T as my carrier. I called T-Mobile and they gave a code #92919408. I have followed all of the steps and still can't unlock this phone. Are there any other codes out there that I can use to unlock this phone. And do I need to have my data plan in place before this phone will unlock.

You can find a lot of info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045
There are various methods listed. You can choose the one you're most comfortable with.
I am going to root using Noxious Ninja's root procedure. which bloatr can i remove safely?
You're on the wrong Forum, this one is for the international i9300 not the US-version.
Look in the US forums to see lists of apps you can remove.
Note that EVERYTHING you flash from the i9300 forum may perma-brick your device!
Hi all, my friend has.the s2 stated above,.it's an Alltel variant and in America, my question is which android development section in xda is for his particular phone, I'd really like to add root, custom recovery and custom Rom to his phone thanks for any help

There is no specific forum(s) for this variant. Do a Google search for 'SCH-R760 XDA' & you'll get most of the posts relating to this device including a thread on rooting it (it's an 'old' thread, not sure if the method still works or whatever, you'll have to read it to find out).
So I have learned that as of recently it is illegal to unlock my Verizon Galaxy S3. Well, too late. I followed this tutorial and installed the AxisM ROM.
Well about the same time I found this out I decided I was going to sell my phone on craigslist. I don't want to do anything illegal so I would like to restore it back to factory default before I sell it. Personally I never had any use for an unlock, I only wanted root. I looked around for information about how to un-unlock a phone and couldn't find anything on xda or google. Please don't just redirect me to some thread about how to flash to stock JellyBean 4.1.1 or something without explaining how / why your suggested method will remove unlock-carrier function. I am not very experienced with the details of all these modifications. Modding phones isn't really my hobby, I just blindly / drunkenly followed a tutorial. That is why I ask for an explanation - but if it turns out that merely flashing back to a stock JellyBean would remove the illegal function, that's great. Also, please don't bother trolling me with your legal advice / opinions, just keep it to yourself, I won't even read it.
tl;dr
How can I un-unlock my phone?
someone knows if it is possible to unblock the bootloader of this device (LG V30/ H932PR) for later, ... you know.
in the developer options OEM unlock is enabled.
And if possible, could I install roms from other models / carriers? But haha! Then if an error occurs... I think there is no firmware for this specific model to go back.
and would it be possible to install tmobile firmware on this model? I do not know if it's full compatible
I wish everyone would stop using this special Q&A format and instead just open a regular thread in the Q&A section. XDA makes you use a web browser to answer, you can't answer in an app.
But the answers to all your questions are no.
