Sorry I've been gone for a while, and my old thunderbolt is still running a Senseless version of Gingertheory (gingerbread) Rom, I would like to upgrade to a newer gingerbread rom now...what is the ASOP stuff? please enlighten me on which Rom I should run...I've got a replacement phone from Verizon, my text messages were all screwed up and not coming in properly. Anyways. I guess I should download clockwork mod on my new phone.
I don't need bloatware, just basics and a fast phone with good battery life.

The best GB Rom is whichever one you like.
for sense it would be a theory rom. for aosp either liquid or theory.
I am currently running gingeritis3D and i love it. I have not ran any other GB roms but i dont feel the need to. This rom is kicka$$ and so smooth. Got all the sense 3.0 goodies and the only bug that i know of an issue with voicemail which i fixed by just using google voice. I really highly recommend it
I was also told that the latest version (VIII) i based of the latest GB leak so its very stable
So what is ASOP? Can someone explain to me? Is it Senseless??

"Sense ROMs: Sense ROMs are built from RUUs, either officially released or leaked. An RUU is the complete update file for a handset; including the bootloader, radio, and ROM. Currently, all Gingerbread Sense ROMs are based on leaked RUUs. Each RUU has a version number, for example 2.10.605.0. The higher the number, the newer it is. Newer is generally better. Devs will usually include the base RUU version number in their OP. I like to think of custom ROMs developed on a common base as a family of sorts. They're going to generally have some similarities. They can have major differences as well. Some things about them won't ever change though.
Sense ROMs come in many flavors; 2.1, 2.1/3.0 hybrid, 3.0. It's really hard to tell what you like until you play with some and get to know them.
AOPS ROMs: AOSP ROMs are not built from leaked or released RUUs. They are built upon code obtained through the Android Open Source Project and are custom built for the devices. HTC, and manufactures in general, don't support AOSP being developed for their device. As a result, AOSP devs basically have to figure it out for themselves which makes the ROMs much more experimental. These ROMs typically come out in 1 or more versions, usually identified by date of release if it's a final release version, or an RC (release candidate) version if it's still in beta testing. Think of the version number and RC/beta number like the RUU number of a Sense ROM. For instance, CM7.0.3 may have several release versions that are only very slightly different. Then you may have several CM7.1.0 Beta or RC candidates that may less stable, but being offered for real world use and user feed back. That's basically the picture for the dInc currently, not the Tbolt, so don't quote me. CM releases are generally going to all look and feel the same and carry the same group of features. OMFGB is going to be making a name for itself with different features and characteristics. You won't know which you like until you try them."

Highly subjective question, but i like cyanogen mod. The latest version is generally not posted for it on xda though. Have to go to rootzwiki to find it under their thunderbolt forum.

I have tried most sense based ROMs, I keep going back to Gingeritis 3D. BAMF is a close second, all other ROMs I have tried I get FC issues, and other wierd **** where I will just flash back to 3D. Keep in mind, each phone is different, so results will vary. Try them all out, nandroid is your friend!
What is the best rom for the htc rezound? I want to have the latest version of android and sense for the htc rezound with everything working. I think the latest is android 4.0.4 and sense 4.0
What ROM are you using? If you are on S4, then you are using a custom ROM. Our "official" ICS only has Sense 3.6
BTW, wrong place to put this...not being a jerk about it like some will, but this should be in Q & A
Post one thread, one time, in the correct section please
Please delete this post. Sorry for posting in wrong forum.
Best ROM?
Well, if you insist on ICS, your choices are OK.
But, until the approved ICS rom appears, you may
get the best battery mileage with the latest GBread 2.01.605.11.
I have tried them ALL, and come back to a daily driver
of GB that's rooted and cleaned out with Titanium Backup.
It runs smooth, no FC's, and does everything I need without
any issues. Only the programs I use are installed or
loaded on startup. Once you get it the way you like, Nandroids will
allow you to jump around, try new stuff, then go back to what you like.
Venasaur 3.2 or cleanrom dev 1.4. Period.!

The best ROM is which ever ROM runs the best on your phone.
From my experience, the best way is to read the OP of the ROMs you are interested in, narrow it down to say 3-4 ROMs and try them out.
There is a good amount to choose from, GingerBread, ICS sense 3.5 to Sense 4.0
it looks like miui has even come too.
I will not go into anything DEV related, as I don't use ROMs based on the Dev, I use it based on how well it runs on my phone.
Nils' Business ICS 4.1 is my choice for Sense 3.6 out of everything I've tried. Great sound quality for Bluetooth audio. Everything works, no FCs, smooth, great theming. Love it!
its alll a matter of opinion my friend try them all

NAND is your friend
Ineffabilis Deus has been by go to rom as of late.
it all defend on your preference!
This is totally subjective, but the first step is to figure out if you like Sense or not. That will help narrow it down by 50%
Beyond that, just try a bunch that have healthy threads and update frequency, and you can't go wrong.
Newt's XXX RLS1 is the best ROM I've run to date. Sense 4 is sick, and I haven't found one thing that doesn't work yet (besides the stupid data arrows, but who REALLY needs those anyway?) It's just too bad you can't get support in the thread for it here anymore, but he's easy to find if you know where to look.....
Hi guys,
I've been browsing around the HTC One for quite a while and decided to get it as my phone. However, I have a question. One I root the HTC One, and install a custom ROM and kernel on it, will HTC Zoe, Blinkfeed, Boomsound, and Beats still work? I know most likely Beats will work, as it is a hardware thing, I think, but I'm mainly concerned about the others. Please reply ASAP so I can decide what to get.
Thanks in Advance,

it depends on the rom, AOSP roms aren't likely to have blinkfeed or Zoe and other HTC stuff. but stock modded roms may still have them.

Modded stock ROM's have all the goodies that stock has (obviously), but no other ROM's (which are currently all based on AOSP) have most of what you asked about.
Although you won't have to worry about Boomsound so much, since most of those AOSP ROM's have good sound. Beats itself is simply an EQ adjustment that you could do yourself. Camera isn't as good or as well-featured, and Blinkfeed will never see a port.
Unless you have a specific reason to do otherwise, just root your phone and install a nice Sense ROM.

Kinda have to pick your poison. Options are limited right now because of the way rom development has just started.
Asop- no sense but cleaner experience
Sense- cool features but still a skin.
Why not just install apex launcher on your one. Are phone is beast enough to run that smoothly?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
most custom sense based roms have a de-sense option in aroma which will remove the sense look and feel. i think it will remove blinkfeed also but you will still have all the camera features.
btw this is the wrong section. should be posted in Q/A

Yes, it will remove Blinkfeed as that's part of the Sense launcher, which is the bulk of what's removed.
It's worth mentioning also that running a Sense ROM with the Nova Launcher is quite nice. While you lose Blinkfeed and such, you come out ahead with a snappy, full-featured launcher.
As for AOSP based ROM's... They do generally provide a clean experience. But as noted before, development is still in its early stages, so they're not as smooth as they could be, and battery life is maybe as good as stock ROM's right now (but usually a little worse for now).
Q&A?

Hello together,
I wan't to share my experience with the new InsertCoin Sense 5 rom which was posted by baadnewz. Discussion is about Sense 5 not the InsertCoin rom which worked very well for me. Just to make it clearer.
In my opinion Sense 5 is a step back from what makes a HTC Sense rom to a HTC phone. The only benefit I see is the new Android base 4.2.2. The new launcher is boring and the new widgets aren't that nice and a lot of them are missing or changed but not for good. I don't use blinkfeed so nothing new for me in Sense 5. I'm very disappointed from Sense 5.
Maybe in the future a DEV can use the new base and put sense 4+ on top of it with some Sense 5 goodies or Sense 5 with the Sense 4+ widgets and stuff.
What do you think about the new Sense 5 if you already tried it.

I think you should update. The majority of members will probably agree that 4.2.2 is so much more snappier and smoother than 4.1, everything feels faster and there is a dramatic change in battery life; for the better. Plus, BlinkFeed is actually really good. I can't wait for the official update. InsertCoin still gives me a few bugs such as not working properly after a reboot.

May want to consider just linking to each thread. Not only for support reasons, but also to remove the need for you to keep your zip files up to date. Also, I'm not sure about others, but since I maintain multiple devices I track the download count to see interest and if I need to keep supporting those particular devices. Mirrors hurt those numbers. This idea is very helpful though, thanks

Some of these ROMs aren't available anymore or the links are hard(er) to find. I had forgotten to reserve a post but I will look up the links and post them in an edit. Thanks for the encouragement without being rude or mean. Need more people like you in these forums.
Suggestion
j32854, while your intentions are noble, I'd prefer links to my threads rather than mirrored uploads of the roms for both reasons listed by TheBr0ken
I think it's a great idea however to have a thread set up with a link to all of the roms and threads available to our device and will make it much simpler for users to find exactly what they're looking for! Kind of a "aroma style pick your rom" if you will.
May I suggest a format that I feel would be best? You could make it similar to the following with linkable titles directing users to the appropriate threads:
Kernels:
ics
sense
link1
link2
link3
etc
aosp
link1
link2
link3
jb 4.2
aosp
link1
link2
link3
jb 4.3
aosp
link1
link2
link3
Roms:
(follow around the pattern listed above).
For firmware no longer available anywhere on XDA and part of your collection, you will need to try and contact the original author of the rom/kernel/mod/script and ask for permission to host it for users.
Not only are you helping users out, but you would be helping the developers also in making their work more readily available to the community.
Thanks for taking the initiative to help out!

My only concern would be the lack of permission from devs, I'd ask for permission from a dev before mirroring their work. There are some out there that no longer want their work linked at XDA for example.
