Sense 5 experience - HTC One X+

Hello together,
I wan't to share my experience with the new InsertCoin Sense 5 rom which was posted by baadnewz. Discussion is about Sense 5 not the InsertCoin rom which worked very well for me. Just to make it clearer.
In my opinion Sense 5 is a step back from what makes a HTC Sense rom to a HTC phone. The only benefit I see is the new Android base 4.2.2. The new launcher is boring and the new widgets aren't that nice and a lot of them are missing or changed but not for good. I don't use blinkfeed so nothing new for me in Sense 5. I'm very disappointed from Sense 5.
Maybe in the future a DEV can use the new base and put sense 4+ on top of it with some Sense 5 goodies or Sense 5 with the Sense 4+ widgets and stuff.
What do you think about the new Sense 5 if you already tried it.

I can tell you right now nobody will back port Sense 4+ to android 4.2.2, get used to Sense 5, or use old software

OK, thanks. Maybe I will change my opinion if the new Venom Rom with all the goodies is being released...

One thing for sure that everyone would have noticed is much improved battery life and the snappiness of the ROM....
Damn its Fast like anything ....loving it
All thanks to baadnewZ for making this amazing ROM

Did you seriously just make a thread out of one of your copied and pasted posts?

Well .. i am still on stock, didn't root my HOX+ .. but i am confused if i shld update to sense 5?? As in, will i get improved performance, battery life and good gaming ? Any one who tried new rom pls reply !! I knw its not something to be determined by a day of usage, but experiences are most welcome.. and it would be gr8 if someone could upload some benchmarks and battery usage !!

I think you should update. The majority of members will probably agree that 4.2.2 is so much more snappier and smoother than 4.1, everything feels faster and there is a dramatic change in battery life; for the better. Plus, BlinkFeed is actually really good. I can't wait for the official update. InsertCoin still gives me a few bugs such as not working properly after a reboot.

Double posting is against forum rules, comparison threads are against forum rules. I'm sure i could find more violations if i looked... Bottom line. I'm disturbed about your lack of respect for forum etiquette.

Htc sense 2.5 sucks?

Hey everbody,
i'm updating rom's on my touch pro, and i'm really surprised by the new sense 2.5 it's true that i choose it for the new hometab and the beauty mix of clock&wheater, but that sucks really, new htc messaging don't work, take more than 5sec to syncronise with inbox in sms& mails. most of the apps freeze, nothing is stable, so i'll come back to the tael rom without the "new" rom of sense 2.5!! i think that sense should me more stable and more faster. that's the worst rom i've seen and i ve tested the energy and tael rom.
am I alone to find that sense 2.5 sucks?
good night
Wrong topic and who cares of your opinion, don't gotta be negative. Don't like it don't use it. In my opinion I love it even though there's no landscape. It's sexy and looks nice and nothing freezes for me, freezing of apps is because of Windows Mobile not Manila 2.5

i think before u start complaining is to try other ROMs that run 2.5 AFIAK even though u tried an EnergyROM try the LATEST EnergyROM it has a very stable and fast Sense 2.5 built in IMHO
and for your issues with SMS messaging recommend to search for Zenyee's disable htc messaging app
and it seems ur stability issues can lead to a bad flash OR you installed something to slow down ur phone, reflash and run the ROM without installing any apps, install ONE app at a time and check to see which one leads to ur crashes
install NeoS2007 graphics drivers, search for it and ull notice a significant difference in stability and smoothness
and if you honestly think that those are the worst ROMs why dont you go ahead and try to make your own??
the community is here for development and the love of designing things. if you don't like something, don't use it.
it's like art, if u don't like something, you don't have to buy it. if you do, buy the print (or go for the original).
How can I see if i got HTC-Sense 2.5 or TF3d1 / 2 ?

If you have a clock + weather on the home page and if you have a twitter tab in ur slider then its SENSE2.5=manila2.5=TF3D 2.5.
If you have just the clock on the main page then it is TF3D2.1=Manila2.1
I Request MODs to close this thread.
i don't think that there is something wrong with this thread. I didn't like the new Sense either, not because the chef did a bad job but because i simply didn't like it.
i think the worst part about sense is that there is no Programs tab anymore and you can only put 6 shortcuts to the Home screen. The concept itself is good but 6 shortcuts is not enough...at least for me. i also had some performance issues when it wasn't perfectly smooth on Touch Pro. Pry because it wasn't designed for it.
other than that i liked it, and i wanna say thanks to all chefs here for doing this tremendous job!

Azik. Google up Max Ultimate... allows up to 20 shortcuts. Personally, it's the only way I was able to use 2.5.
I think the original poster was just stating his opinion that he didn't like Sense 2.5. But you guys are acting like Apple Fanboys going ballistic and coming out so rude...
I don't like it sense 2.5 either...
As much as this forum is to praise people's work, we can't be doing ONLY that all the time. sometimes the work sucks and needs to be said that way.
I don't think its chef's fault or anything and I appreciate the time each chef puts in. But these days the forum is full of latest cutting edge software THAT SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK WELL with tweaking, fixing bugs, do this and do that,etc...
I have gone back to older stable ROMs. I have the luxury of trying out these things because of the hard and good work of the chefs, the forum and the user community. Thank you all.
Have a nice day, everyone.
I love sense 2.5
It rocks! Maybe not for u but it is great for me

Anyone know if this graphics fix speeds up Sense and SMS? Tried NRG's ROM with Sense, loved it, but a little too slow on my FUZE. Switched back to NRG's Touch Flo 2.1 ROM.
You guys who are complaining about 2.5 do realise that its not actually intended to work on the Touch Pro don't you? The version that we are luckily able to run has been ported over from different phones (leo iirc?) which has more power available to it, and a different resolution, amongst many other differences.
So we are not able to run an official HTC final-polished-ready-to-go version of it, and we NEVER will..we get a hacked together port put together by some very talented people on these boards.
So you can justifyably say that current implementations of it has bugs, is unstable, has missing/overlapping icons/graphics or speed issues..but these are not HTC Sense issues.
Personally I really like it but don't run it day to day because of a few issues with the new messenging client when you have more than a few text messages (takes forever to load!), BUT I like sense itself..the questions of if its stable or not, and if its a good bit of software are completely different, and its not fair on HTC or the guys on this board to mix them up..
Just my 2c..

I second this. Also to the first poster, you can try a hard reset or re flash a new rom. I have had some issues with 2.5 myself and lately the new 2.5 roms seem much faster and stable. The chefs put a lot of work into making a rom, so I can see why they get upset, but on the same note its nice to vent about things when something is not working. When I had problems with 2.5 I decided to stick with 2.1 until recently , and now I really like 2.5. I am going to flash a 2.1 probably later today and see which I like best, but I am willing to bet its the 2.5 roms. 2.5+MaxManila=Bliss

Froyo Sense for hero from desire builds?

Hi there
I've noticed in a few of the other forums (while looking for a desire owning friend) that there are a few desire froyo sense roms popping up
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724123
I was just wandering if this meant that at some point we would see similar developments on the ol' hero?
Cheers
boch501
yeahhh it would be nice to have
Porting from desire would be horrible, due to very different hardware, different screen size and different screen ratio.
Very doubtful that a desire port will ever happen. There's really no point as the legend (which is far easier to port from) will get an update to 2.2, and thats a much better bet.
Patience! the devs at the moment are just trying to get a perfect AOSP 2.2 rom first!
yeah it's look like a very good rom, if it's possible to port it on a htc hero, i take it
In Q&A Not development please...
Probably have to wait for the slide to get 2.2 w/sense before it gets ported over

I "gave up" sense full time not that long ago really, and now I don't think I will ever want to go back. As soon as you think it through and make a list of what you actually like about sense, you can soon realise that better things can happen without it.
widgets are easily replaceable or forgotten, UI in some launchers are much much better than sense, better settings and better roms

Flickr Sync... soon to change http://www.flicka.mobi/

Bookmarks Widget... no solution (Live Bookmarks maybe?)
Music PLayer LockScreen ... no solution

im using vanilla or froyo depending on mood and what day!
I have used froyo w/sense on my mates desire and i cant wait for it to be on the hero (probably have a better phone by then but nevermind) all the things that put me of sense 2.1 arent there in sense 2.2.... No lag going from screen to screen! stupidly fast (he gets 38-42 on linpack) and hd recording (only on snapdragon i know) if you know someone with a desire cionvince them to root it and put 2.2 on im sure you vanilla fans will love it!!

[Q] can someone port a stable sense rom for optimus one?

im very much fond of sense ui so i wanted it for my optimus one.
i've already given a try with LP but it is not par with the features of original sense!
some XDA members have made ports for O1 but all of them hav major bugs like wifi and mobile data. waiting for a stable release of those ported versions but it doesnt seem to me that the devs r working on em anymore.
i tried to fondle with the directories and framework myself but couldnt succeed. (me lika nub ).
So, can any of u make a stable sense rom for optimus one?
sincere thanks in advance.

This will most likely not ever happen. Sense is built deeply into the HTC framework and drivers so it will only work 100% on HTC devices.
thnx man...
but til what extent can someone fix the bugs? any idea?

it take me 2 months to understand that sense is ... not the best ui

thanks you very much,
i will try it
i have a desire which has sense 1.9 ,,after a year it started to become slow etc although it has lots of nice stuff in it i think ure better off with a sense theme opposed to a ROM .
have you seen this ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995627 a adw launcher themed like sense (a better option then true sense) also i think the optimums one doesn't have a sufficient processor to run sense smoothly ,sense is really heavy on phone memory.

[Q] this may be a dumb question...

but why can't we have just ONE rom for each type of rom (sense 3.6, sense 4/4.1, 4.1, 4.2)
if you released one base, and seperate patches that each dev could contribute to the rom's personalization, it could be beneficial. idk.. i just think at this point, releasing a new rom gets redundant and begins to clutter the dev thread.
keep in mind this is question, and not a "lets flame the OP" tread..

That's why there are varieties. It would get pretty stale very quickly if there was just one type of ROM for each version of sense and os versions.

We do. It's called the HTC stock ROM.
There's a ton of customization that can be done to the stock ROM using apps from the Play Store and the HTC "personalize" options, even without rooting the phone, and even more when rooted.
I think you're missing the post of the XDA development forums and if you only want to customize one ROM you might be happier hanging out in the Themes and Apps Forum.

[ROM Question]

Hi guys,
I've been browsing around the HTC One for quite a while and decided to get it as my phone. However, I have a question. One I root the HTC One, and install a custom ROM and kernel on it, will HTC Zoe, Blinkfeed, Boomsound, and Beats still work? I know most likely Beats will work, as it is a hardware thing, I think, but I'm mainly concerned about the others. Please reply ASAP so I can decide what to get.
Thanks in Advance,

it depends on the rom, AOSP roms aren't likely to have blinkfeed or Zoe and other HTC stuff. but stock modded roms may still have them.

Modded stock ROM's have all the goodies that stock has (obviously), but no other ROM's (which are currently all based on AOSP) have most of what you asked about.
Although you won't have to worry about Boomsound so much, since most of those AOSP ROM's have good sound. Beats itself is simply an EQ adjustment that you could do yourself. Camera isn't as good or as well-featured, and Blinkfeed will never see a port.
Unless you have a specific reason to do otherwise, just root your phone and install a nice Sense ROM.

Kinda have to pick your poison. Options are limited right now because of the way rom development has just started.
Asop- no sense but cleaner experience
Sense- cool features but still a skin.
Why not just install apex launcher on your one. Are phone is beast enough to run that smoothly?

most custom sense based roms have a de-sense option in aroma which will remove the sense look and feel. i think it will remove blinkfeed also but you will still have all the camera features.
btw this is the wrong section. should be posted in Q/A

Yes, it will remove Blinkfeed as that's part of the Sense launcher, which is the bulk of what's removed.
It's worth mentioning also that running a Sense ROM with the Nova Launcher is quite nice. While you lose Blinkfeed and such, you come out ahead with a snappy, full-featured launcher.
As for AOSP based ROM's... They do generally provide a clean experience. But as noted before, development is still in its early stages, so they're not as smooth as they could be, and battery life is maybe as good as stock ROM's right now (but usually a little worse for now).
