Hello everyone. My charger port is somewhat broken... If I move it around and keep it at one spot it'll charge. I haven't really tried cleaning it or taking it apart yet as I don't have the tools. I've looked around on these forms and saw that there is a white version charger port and a black one? I also saw that the average price is around 18$ for the part.
Is it possible to repair the port with solder or something?
Appreciate the help!

If you're industry certified for soldering, I'd say go for it. I was at one point but I wouldn't attempt it as the contacts are super small. As for the part I don't know, I have a board bookmarked on my pc, and when I get back to it I'll check to see if it'll work for the black one. Have you rang up Sammy to see if it's something warranty will cover?
here's the board I have bookmarked. I haven't purchased from this company nor am I sure this will work, I was going to purchase it for a project that I haven't started.

Hey everyone. I fixed it by just replacing it. I found one for 14$ free shipping. One think I wanted to mention. When I looked at the broken part, the only thing that was wrong was the inside of the jack had destroyed contacts. The other pieces to the part was fine. So moral of the story is, do not use super snug cables like I did. I'm going to try to make new contacts in the broken one but its very small. Ill probably break it but whatever.

Use the stock charger and cable....and if you dont have one, buy one.
They are sized properly for the device, where aftermarket cables are not....g
I had a similar issue with an after market usb cable that fits too snug. I ended up using a dremel to flatten the two tabs and voila, no more having to tug the wire out

I have recently taken apart my evo 3d and while prying the plastic off, i hit one of the ribbon connectors and took a small chunk out of this. I know it has to do with the touch part of my screen, as a small portion of it doesnt work properly. Im curious if i can buy a new one and replace it myself, because obviously my warranty is void now cuz i took the screws out.
I highlighted the section that i screwed up in this picture http://imgur.com/qYLw2
There is no way you can replace that ribbon/connector by yourself. You would need a microscope and some very expensive equipment to get it unsoldered and re-soldered.

For future reference you can get a case opener tool REALLY cheap off eBay.

Even if the cable was replaceable, it's buried under one of the antennas. So sad, what were you trying to do to begin with?

Actually, I hate to go against the grain here but..... That ribbon cable looks extremely easy to replace.
Look at this video and see just how easy it is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8u5Wa3Odak
Its not soldered in. Just clips holding it in.
I don't know where you'd find one but it should not be that hard. do some searching. even try ebay for a parts phone.
Good luck.

It is easy to replace but you have to replace the digitizer to. I think he just wanted to replace the ribbon cable.

I was just checking out dmcgrath009 wireless charging thread which is pretty cool, but it got me thinking about all the cases with wireless charging which then lead to a youtube search. This this of course side tracked me from some dude's review of a powermat of the s3 to an iguana farting in a bathtub (best 10 seconds ever) so I checked out powerskin to see if they had something and I found this http://www.power-skin.com/battery-cases/htc/one-x.php a powerskin for the one x+ and x. So it should fit but the dedicated camera button might interfere and if you can't live without a kickstand you're SOL. I personally like my evo without a case, but if you need more juice here's a maybe solution.
Are the dimensions and charge ports in the exact same place? I was gonna buy the seido one but its not even out yet and this one is 30 less I'd much rather get this if I knew for sure that it'd work

I'm pretty sure it should work, but like I said the dedicated camera button might get in the way. The one x and evo have the same dimensions accord to what I've seen, but they do have a return policy if not. I really don't see a need for it since I go all day on meanrom 6.4, but others might want more juice or aren't rooted and would want more juice so I'm just throwing it out there.
Yea I'm completely stock due to not being tech savy, so my battery life isn't great, I'm a pretty heavy user as well
Anyone try this yet? I would definitely buy this if I knew it would fit!!!
Sweet. I'm interested in this. But waiting for someone with a bigger wallet than me to test it first....

Its not about having it. I dont trust it enough to spend $40. If i made i made double the money i do now i probably wouldnt care about $40. Its just my mentality man
I thought the x and x+ use the contact pins on the back to charge the battery. If that's the case, no way it will work with the LTE.

If you look at the pictures you can see it uses the side micro port. There are no pins inside the case. I might bite the bullet and try this.

The seidio version utilizes the pins but not this one.

i compared my EVO Lte to a One X the other nioght when i stopped by frys.. the charging port seems to be in the correct place but the "volume up-down" rocker on the one x seems to sit about a half inch lower... so im not sure it will work without some modification..
For $80 bucks you think they could make the area where the charging port is flush-er, it looks like a 90 degree plug with a cord. I'll pass and see what I can do with my old touchstone.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
This one actually does use the pins in the back I've already seen it. It has two contact pins in the back that connect to the one xs charging plates. The micro USB port is wat charges the battery inside the case.
It will NOT work for the LTE.

I wonder if the good piece that brings the load port my phone is the same as the i9100 as it hurt me and I can not find the original in my country Venezuela.
I get the piece is that of 9100 brings the microphone and charging port hopefully help me with my question
If you search eBay for i777 usb flex cable, you get none.
But if you search for i727 usb flex cable (which is certainly different), you get results.
It leads me to believe that i777 and i9100 usb flex cables are the same.

Well this sucks. I just got my PCB http://www.ebay.com/itm/230831019596?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Looks like it did nothing when plugged ... when I did a google search for i777 flex cable I'm seeing some listings saying "lower voltage" ... I'm wondering even though they are identical that there's subtle differences on the PCB (I noticed two chips looked identical but had different numbers).
So, since it didn't work and I already ripped the old USB port off the PCB that desoldering the port from this one would be more hassle than it's worth ... might as well get the official i777 pcb for $35+ or whatever ...
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-II-SGH-I777-GT-I9100/dp/B007T4EEDE/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt
This says "I777 and I9100", which means it's the same. And one of the reviewers says that it fits his I777.
Strange.
I bought a replacement for my i777 and used an i9100 part, if you open up your phone and look at the part number on your stock flex cable, you'll see it's for the gt-9100
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, this really sucks because now what I've done was replace 2 of the chips and 2 heatsinks from my old PCB onto the "new" PCB I got from the eBay I listed.
Still nothing ... I'm starting to think it's just a bad batch being sold.
Could someone show me a link where they got THEIR replacement i9100 flexcable PCB and used on their i777??? Because, like I said I feel now it's probably supposed to work but I just don't trust that seller now.
For the record I'm using my old HTC Aria until this pans out...... so sad.

Awesome. Ordered. I'm hoping this isn't a diminishing return situation but it SHOULD work because without the USB attached my original PCB works and the phone behaves normally. I figured there was a short in the actual port which prompted me to get a whole PCB ... but since i yanked it off the leads are damaged.
Thanks again. Will report back when it arrives.

I know a few people have pulled theirs off on purpose. My puppy chewed mine off and it irritates me not being there now. I had been looking to replace it and found this:
http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-htc-droid-incredible-x-droid-dna-charging-port-rubber-cover.html
$4 is cheap but it costs $18 to ship it.... has anyone found them for sale anywhere else?
I would email HTC first, they might send you one... I just needed a usb cable because mine broke and they sent a cable ans wallcharger!

If you want it bad enough.... I ripped mine off cause it was falling off anyway
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I'd say it's not worth it at any price. It's just going to fall off again. Pretty much everyone I've known with one whether they liked it or hated it it still fell off soon or didn't function well anyway.
I always try to play nice with my phones. I hated that cover from day one but as always played nice (didn't rip or cut it off) but the day it fell off, I picked it up and put it in original box I also kept. My HTC incredible 1 and my HTC thunderbolt both made it till next upgrade with out that cover. Reminds me of those port covers on the older dumb phones that never really had a purpose but to make the port weaken over time, then go bad and phone quit charging. Not worth replacing at any price. But good luck to you if you really feel you need one!

I bought a used Employee Edition DNA and the owner ripped off the USB cover and did not mention it...
That site was the only one I found as well, and at first it was OOS but when it came back that shipping definitely killed it for me. Granted, it is shipping from Korea I believe, but it isn't worth it to buy a black USB cover... if it was Red I might have just sucked it up...
They may fall off "easily", but I have no use for the USB port right now anyway since I'm using a wireless charger... there are always ways to work around the USB cable to transfer files as well. Not sure why so many people look down on people who want to keep their flap intact...

I agree that it does get in the way... so much in fact that I did not want to use a DNA until I got a wireless charger =\
I'm just a bit OCD with my phones and given that the back is red, and then there's a sudden black break along the bottom with the missing USB door... just looks off to me.

I wonder why even replacement DNA Body kits do not include the USB door either...

Only reason I haven't ripped it off is because of old phones the internal end would rattle around. Anyone noticing that or specifically not noticing so I can join the no plug club?

It may depend on how you rip it out. Mine was already removed, but it seems to be cut and the rubber end in the phone is staying put and does not make any noise. I'd take your cover if you do get rid of it though

I would like to know if it really does keep water out as well, it says the phone is water resistant, but could that little plastic piece really hold back anything? FYI mine has been taken off as well so annoying to use i just said screw it and ripped it off one day. Haven't looked back since
For those of you that have replaced this rubber port cover, how easy/difficult was this process?
To replace the cover, you have to take off the entire back. The little port cover isn't held on by anything though, it just sits between the phone and the plastic backing. Unless you're an expert at taking unibody phones apart, it's not worth it because I broke the waterproof seal strip during the process. It was glued on.
Looks like you can get one for $6.80 here w/ free shipping

Hello everyone this will be my first post on here I haven't really posted anything because most of my answers I find them on the search bar. But I haven't really found a solution to this problem. Well here is the story my friend found this sprint note 3 completely broken had no battery no stylus. It does have a bad imei, but I like to fix phones so she give it to me. I bought a verizon digitizer with frame and stylus I also bought a battery. Put it all back together but the cell phone wont power up I was wondering if any of you had any advice to what it could be? One are of the phone does gets really hot when plugged in the one with the green sticker. I was also wondering what arw the gold pins sticking out thanks.
