[Q] note 3 help - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Hello everyone this will be my first post on here I haven't really posted anything because most of my answers I find them on the search bar. But I haven't really found a solution to this problem. Well here is the story my friend found this sprint note 3 completely broken had no battery no stylus. It does have a bad imei, but I like to fix phones so she give it to me. I bought a verizon digitizer with frame and stylus I also bought a battery. Put it all back together but the cell phone wont power up I was wondering if any of you had any advice to what it could be? One are of the phone does gets really hot when plugged in the one with the green sticker. I was also wondering what arw the gold pins sticking out thanks.

Did she find it outside? I'm thinking along the lines of untraceable water damage.... shame, would have been one heck of a come up!!!

Digitizer Strangeness

Well, I'd resigned my fate to needing to replace my digitizer. Have a couple dead strips about 3/8 in wide, that go all the way across the screen. The first to appear is about 2/3 the way up, and the other near the bottom which came a week or so later. Soft keys work fine. Get crazy screen action periodically and freezes that can only be ended by screen off/unlock. Here is the strangeness though. Today the dead spots seemed to work, other than a hairline on either side of the dead spots. Noticed this when a city on my weather app loaded that was previously unaccessable (no rotation in app). Checked and confirmed dead spot anomaly with a multitouch utility. Anyway after a little use the full dead spots seem to be back. Any ideas as to what's up? Haven't heard of this happening. Could this be an indicator of a torn ribbon? Has anyone experienced this? Thanks.

You can flash PSDFIX or send your Atrix to service, cause propably it's hardware issue.

I got the same Problem, about 3/10 of my touchscreen is ****ed up :/ is there a easy way to fix it (and ofc cheap way) ?
Thanks

Probably not. It's very likely a hardware failure, so it's kinda like asking how do you fix a burnt lightbulb.

Can somebody tell me what parts I need to buy, for repairing my Atrix at home? Has somebody experience in fixing this problem?

There are digitizers on ebay for a reasonable price. I just ordered one that comes with the digitizer, half a dozen tools and a precut adhesive to attach the new digitizer for about $60 us. Seems to be an all inclusive. Just search "atrix 4g digitizer" filter new and buyitnow an.d you'll find it no problem.

Thanks

This is the one I bought. Has everything including tools. Need adhesive which is included in this auction.
Got My GS3 I9300 now so not using Atrix anymore (good thing too). Replaced digitizer myself and Atrix is like new. Not more than a couple days after the atrix repair was complete, my daughter got her 2 week old iphone stolen so I sent it to her to use. Some douchebag kid asked her to use her phone to call his mom and as soon as she gave it to him the [email protected]#!$%^ little piece of sh!t took off like the wind. Hope some day the little prick tries it on some olympic blackbelt with no conscience who then proceeds to slowly dismantles him piece by piece, or at least make his hands permanently unusable. Anyway the link I provided is a good source for atrix digitizers.
Thanks all and good luck!

Do you have some tips to share about digitizer replacing? does it need glue or some adhesive?
Thanks in advance. I want to do it but too scared that some screw or somewting will turn bad
Much appreciated

It's really simple. You only need adhesive (glue, double-sided tape) if you're getting just the digitizer, without the frame. I wouldn't advise that since it can get messy. Other than that, you only have to pay attention to the rather short and fragile flat cable that connects it to the motherboard. Just follow the disassembly videos carefully and don't be lazy to remove extra components like the screen, even if it seems unnecessary. It might make all the diference in the world.

Charging port...

Hello everyone. My charger port is somewhat broken... If I move it around and keep it at one spot it'll charge. I haven't really tried cleaning it or taking it apart yet as I don't have the tools. I've looked around on these forms and saw that there is a white version charger port and a black one? I also saw that the average price is around 18$ for the part.
Is it possible to repair the port with solder or something?
Appreciate the help!

If you're industry certified for soldering, I'd say go for it. I was at one point but I wouldn't attempt it as the contacts are super small. As for the part I don't know, I have a board bookmarked on my pc, and when I get back to it I'll check to see if it'll work for the black one. Have you rang up Sammy to see if it's something warranty will cover?
here's the board I have bookmarked. I haven't purchased from this company nor am I sure this will work, I was going to purchase it for a project that I haven't started.

Hey everyone. I fixed it by just replacing it. I found one for 14$ free shipping. One think I wanted to mention. When I looked at the broken part, the only thing that was wrong was the inside of the jack had destroyed contacts. The other pieces to the part was fine. So moral of the story is, do not use super snug cables like I did. I'm going to try to make new contacts in the broken one but its very small. Ill probably break it but whatever.

Use the stock charger and cable....and if you dont have one, buy one.
They are sized properly for the device, where aftermarket cables are not....g
I had a similar issue with an after market usb cable that fits too snug. I ended up using a dremel to flatten the two tabs and voila, no more having to tug the wire out

Changing housing on HTC One

Hi everyone, I bought a complete black housing for the htc one but I cant find a guide to do it, the one from ifixit is not that great.

From the iFixIt teardown: "We won't lie, getting to this point was an arduous and daunting task. The amount of work required to separate the rear aluminum case and the front case was immense."
You sure you want to do this?

I got curious about this housing. I'm not sure if anybody actually read the description. It says Material: Plastic.
I work in a cellphone repair shop and I have come across a phone similarly built to the HTC One, the 8x. DO NOT ATTEMPT.. That being said, from the ifixit tear down it seems utterly impossible to do any "fun hardware mods" like a housing change. This phone has no way to open it other than to open it from the display assembly, and its glued down. The Galaxy Nexus is clamped together by its plastic outer housing and bolted together by the screws inside the housing, which is relatively easy to replace and swap out. This is not the case on most new HTC phones. DO NOT TRY IT!

I dont think this is a good idea.
OP: If you decide to try this, can you make a youtube video for us?
I still do not recommend you do this, you will end up with a broken LCD assembly..

OEM HTC Droid DNA Charging Port Rubber Cover

I know a few people have pulled theirs off on purpose. My puppy chewed mine off and it irritates me not being there now. I had been looking to replace it and found this:

$4 is cheap but it costs $18 to ship it.... has anyone found them for sale anywhere else?
I would email HTC first, they might send you one... I just needed a usb cable because mine broke and they sent a cable ans wallcharger!

That is the only site I have ever seen that sells it. I looked a couple days ago and they didn't even have it in stock, looks like it's back now though. 18 dollars for shipping is kinda ridiculous if you ask me though.

If you want it bad enough.... I ripped mine off cause it was falling off anyway
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I'd say it's not worth it at any price. It's just going to fall off again. Pretty much everyone I've known with one whether they liked it or hated it it still fell off soon or didn't function well anyway.
I always try to play nice with my phones. I hated that cover from day one but as always played nice (didn't rip or cut it off) but the day it fell off, I picked it up and put it in original box I also kept. My HTC incredible 1 and my HTC thunderbolt both made it till next upgrade with out that cover. Reminds me of those port covers on the older dumb phones that never really had a purpose but to make the port weaken over time, then go bad and phone quit charging. Not worth replacing at any price. But good luck to you if you really feel you need one!

I bought a used Employee Edition DNA and the owner ripped off the USB cover and did not mention it...
That site was the only one I found as well, and at first it was OOS but when it came back that shipping definitely killed it for me. Granted, it is shipping from Korea I believe, but it isn't worth it to buy a black USB cover... if it was Red I might have just sucked it up...
They may fall off "easily", but I have no use for the USB port right now anyway since I'm using a wireless charger... there are always ways to work around the USB cable to transfer files as well. Not sure why so many people look down on people who want to keep their flap intact...

I agree that it does get in the way... so much in fact that I did not want to use a DNA until I got a wireless charger =\
I'm just a bit OCD with my phones and given that the back is red, and then there's a sudden black break along the bottom with the missing USB door... just looks off to me.
---
I wonder why even replacement DNA Body kits do not include the USB door either...

Only reason I haven't ripped it off is because of old phones the internal end would rattle around. Anyone noticing that or specifically not noticing so I can join the no plug club?

It may depend on how you rip it out. Mine was already removed, but it seems to be cut and the rubber end in the phone is staying put and does not make any noise. I'd take your cover if you do get rid of it though

I would like to know if it really does keep water out as well, it says the phone is water resistant, but could that little plastic piece really hold back anything? FYI mine has been taken off as well so annoying to use i just said screw it and ripped it off one day. Haven't looked back since
For those of you that have replaced this rubber port cover, how easy/difficult was this process?
To replace the cover, you have to take off the entire back. The little port cover isn't held on by anything though, it just sits between the phone and the plastic backing. Unless you're an expert at taking unibody phones apart, it's not worth it because I broke the waterproof seal strip during the process. It was glued on.
Looks like you can get one for $6.80 here w/ free shipping

how bad is it, you can always claim something else is wrong with it. Where did you buy it from?
It's very small. I was able to kind of hide the clear aluminum showing with a black marker. I also just noticed I have 3 dead pixels so maybe that would be enough if they don't really notice the scrapes. I got it from an official AT&T store.

Personally I dropped mine and it got scuffed a little too, so much that it bothered me. I was within 14 when it fell so I took it back and told them that it was to fragile along the edges, got way to hot (130°) which I screenshot and the headphone jack doesn't work well with FM radio and he said no problem and replaced it and that was that. It was fraud on my end, and I paid good money for a phone that I wanted to keep in mint condition. Haven't dropped the second one yet but I have gaps, which isn't too bad. My advise, go for it and it isnt fraud of there is actually a problem with it anyway.

I ended up trading it in and getting a silver one. I was completely straight with the rep and showed him the scratches which he thought was no big deal and were barely even noticeable. I had to point out the scratch locations since he couldn't even see them at first. I showed him the dead pixels and also the power button which had this awful click sound which drove me crazy. I just had to pay a restocking fee and was good to go.
