[Q] Accelerometer problem with i9300 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I seem to have a weird problem with the accelerometer in my i9300. I've recently started using the CM10 nightlies, and I don't recall it happening before then - though the two things might not be related.
I've started to notice that the screen doesn't rotate when I tilt the phone in apps which support this feature (Chrome, Camera, etc.) - it just stays in portrait. Auto-rotate is switched on under settings / display, with all the modes enabled.
Having tried a couple of apps that test the accelerometers, it seems like one of them might not be working correctly. For example, using "Accelerometer Monitor", the X, Z and |V| (whatever that is!) stats seem fine, but Y seems to be stuck on 19.536 no matter how I twist or tilt the phone.
Has anyone else had similar problems? Is there a solution?
Thanks in advance!
monkeyhat.

Is this a common problem? I ran a search on the forum and couldn't find much about accelerometers, and it's not in the known issues for CM10.1. Sorry if this is a common post.

Bad flash during root, how can I fix it...?

I just got an ATT SIII and I attempted to root it with Odin. The progress bar got to about 25% then failed, now I can't boot my phone into the OS. I followed every guide I could find to fix this but every flash fails at ~25%. I can get into download mode, so I should be able to correct this, right? What should I be doing?
edit:
Ok, I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727443
I followed the steps, Odin passed, and when I boot I see the Galaxy S III splash screen, then the screen goes blank and the led stays solid blue. I can still get to download mode.
First of all get to the AT&T s3 forum this is for the i9300 only flashing anything here will brick your phone.

"you're" would be the correct grammar
nah man, I certainly don't want to be a mod. I am just surprised by people's thinking. Like "hey, here's the Q&A help and troubleshooting forum, should ask ask a question there? naah, imma just post in general". It's not even funny.
And I am perfectly fine if you don't like my posts, I don't care about that.
@OP: definitely it is (as mentioned before) Q&A thread, first.
Secondly, I would like to pass my personal congratulations to you, as you tried to flash the firmware form another phone and you have confirmed that it would brick it.
Last but not least: be careful and do not apply your way of life while refuelling your car, as diesel into petrol or vice versa would have more severe consequences.

U cant post in dwv forum till u reach a set amount of posts (to prevent just this kind of thing). Had u posted this in a dev forum u would've got flamed for it most likely as it isnt dev related at all. As for ur problem it looks like something is being downloaded through media possibly (dumno what though).

Phone reseting AROMA

Hey guys I have the current Android Revolution HD 30.4. However since I upgraded to 30.1 the phone has crashed every time after I get a phone call. When I did install it I did the wipe that was included with the ROM. I have the Samsung S3 International version. I do have the stock kernel and everything on it is stock except for the Android Revolution HD.
I get a call talk, then when I hang up it just crashes and restarts. When it restarts it is very slow. So I restart again and it seems to work fine.
I also noticed that my background is also having an error. The top smaller portion 1/6th or so fades to black at the top. The top notification bar is fine but under it it fades from black to grey to my background. I can fix this temporarily by resetting my background photo. This error doesn't happen on the lock screen, just the background.
Any help would be great. Thank you. I cannot post in the Android Revolution HD forum so I hope this is the right spot.
Thank you for posting in the Q&A section at least. The back ground fading from top bottom is a known issue/feature. We don't know yet. As for your calling and crashing issue. I don't know what could be causing that. It happens on every received call? All calls?

Yes it seems to be all calls. I have had 3 people call me and each time it crashed.
Thanks for reply. I looked a bit for the fading but couldn't find much. I just kept finding all black backgrounds.

Only Q&A I found for it was for http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213158
Should I post in that thread even if the device is different?
All searches just pointed me back there or to download the rom.
In the android revolution main posts didn't see any Q&A links for questions either.
If you know it could you link it to me? I must be blind or searching wrong.

Messaging

Hi there
I am struggling to find some info regarding the stock messaging app. Does this app lag scrolling up and down through conversations? This is the problem I have, you can see the screen tearing while you scroll slowly up and down, which is horrible and no matter if I try to do a factory reset (using kies or flashing firmware with odin) the issue will not get fixed. I think Jellybean has broken this app.
Does everyone think the same? I am 90 percent sure that this did not happen on ICS? please heeelllpp

You have to use another app. The stock one is laggy and long to open. Like the dialer.

So what, you got a problem with that? tell me a reason why not to post it on general. this does not involve any rom, apps or anything specific just the phone itself.

yes, I do. The reason is that posting questions in general is against the rules, and people who understand what Q&A stands for post questions here.

Well go and complain to moderators then because I have always used general sections for anything else not related to dev or bug reporting and never had a problem..
Now go and find something useful to do instead of crying mama..god.
I just wanted to discuss the issue regarding the ics and jellybean messaging.

I understand.
I do agree that the ICS messaging works faster than that of JB's. It is a stock thing, so I believe there is no fix yet? Tsk
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
So you did notice the ics app faster and smoother. I was really confused because there were 2 updates and I couldn't find out which one messed it up. I don't think there is a fix yet. I only asked Samsung and they told me to call the S3 support but I didn't.
I do believe there are going to be more updates for the S3 even another version of Android which hopefully will fix it. I did ask a few people but theu said their messaging app worked fine but I think they didn't notice what I meant or they wouldn't care too much.
You can install jkays framework on stock odexed Rom and then with his deluxe settings app (paid) you can lock dialler and contacts in memory,.......regarding the tearing whilst scrolling, this nearly always happens when you have an accumulation of too many messages I keep my inbox pretty clean and never experience any tearing

Yeah whatever..you have done your job won a trophy and all. That's what moderators are here for. If you don't have anything useful to post then don't post your trolling messages.
Slaphead: I am talking about a few mesaages not a huge list; I have tried a lot of things which will never work. Unfortunately have to live with it until Samsung releases an update I think they must be aware of this? I wonder if any of the developers around here knows what is the issue and if anyone has implemented a fix on any other roms.
Try this...go developer options and check "force gpu rendering"
and that's why xda is the way it is..noobs don't read the rules

Cyanogen nightly bug!

I've been having this issue for a while (I think I noticed it from the 20140416 nightly, not sure though). I experience random crashes here and there (everything will freeze and then the UI will "reset" itself), but they mainly happen when I try to pull down the notifications bar after unlocking my phone. It's pathetic that this happens, as I'm sure it's not a big deal to fix!!!
If this is in the wrong thread than please move to the correct section. As I'm a new user here, I can't post in the development section, unfortunately.
The first thing you should do is whipe your phone. Have you done this?
Probably why it's a nightly...

You declared that its easy to fix. So it seems that you have the knowledge to fix it, otherwise you wouldnt know that.
Anyways, dont expect a serious answer if you do several mistakes. First, posts like yours dont belong into the general section. They either belong into the respective rom thread or maybe Q&A. And even if you post there, none of the CM devs will ever read it. They avoid xda.
Then you also brag about a bug in a nightly. Guess what, nightlies are not supported. They are automatically generated builds. A bug report will be ignored (even if you use cm's bug tracker called jira). I can add more mistakes you did if you want.
