If your battery stats are out of whack, it will cause random reboots. Fully charge, clear battery stats, use phone until it dies. This will recalibrate the battery and hopefully stop the reboots.

Hey guys. I know this is going to appear an elementary issue but I can't seem to figure it out. I work for Sprint I know all about battery life and what kills it and how to make it last. My 3d is draining about 20 percent per hour! I have swapped batteries, tested my batteries, wiped my device mutiple times and flashed different roms and kernels. I can't seem to figure out why my battery life has become so bad. My wifes 3d lasts about 16+ hours with moderate use and I get nowhere near that. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

you can try wiping battery stats. if you have been flashing roms that can sometimes cause bad battery life. also the standard making sure radios you arent using are turned off and what not. but i'm sure you already know that. most recoveries have an option built in to wipe battery stats or you can use an app called batterycalibration. pretty straight forward app. hope that helps.

LOL! Oh, they know. They all have radar.
May be a bad battery, 20% an hour is an aweful lot
LOL she would definitely know if I swapped it out. I bought the platinum brand 34000mah extended life battery from best buy and I'm seeing little improvement. I really hate to think its the phone since I have s-off and really dont Want a 1.5 hboot. Could some one tell me which radio I should have. Could that affect battery life as well?

The radio version shouldn't effect battery life that much, could be from a bad signal, the phone constantly searching for signal kills the battery quick, and when you say her phone lasts 16 hours with moderate use.... That doesn't tell us too much,
Screen on time is where the valuable information comes from....
Do everything you can to maximize battery life... Turn on and off the certain radios as you need them etc.
And do a battery stat wipe, as this is calibrating the phone to the battery, not the battery to the phone... Flashing kernals and roms could Bork battery stats very easily... And flashing to a different one wouldn't necessarily fix the problem... Hope you get it worked out,
Get rid of auto brightness too, get your captivate buttons to a lower brightness they eat the battery up too...

I have an HTC EVO 3D, the battery will literally melt down to "red" in about 3 hours, and charge extremely slow or not at all, until I reboot the phone, and then the phone will reboot with a charge of around 60% and normal recharge rates.
What the heck is going on? My phone is not rooted, so I can't reset the battery configuration....or can i?
Stock everything...
try this. Let the battery die completely. With the phone off let it charge till you get a green light.
Do that a couple of times, will more than likely fix it.
You can also charge and then wipe battery stats in recovery.
charge and wipe stats ftw

I'm having the same issue. 4-5 times a day it'll just shut down and then take it's sweet time rebooting. Im rooted running stock 2.3.4 trying to upgrade to ICS which kind of tumbles into another issue. I'm trying to do the update to ICS via the OTA update and when it powers down it just boots into the Bootloader screen. My status for my bootloader shows <RELOCKED> followed by <SECURITY WARNING>.
If anyone could shed a little insight that'd be aces.
The random reboot issue seems to be battery related from what others have stated.

I can confirm this. I called t-mo and they basically told me that I'm SOL on a battery replacement. So, I got the Anker 2 pack on Amazon for 30 bucks, and I haven't had a reboot since.
Had the same issue. Called HTC tech support bypassing T-Mobile since I use a different carrier. HTC sent me a replacement battery.

this sounds like a recall-type of deal here. i'm having the same issues with my oem battery. called htc the other day, and they wanted my cc info to replace the battery. i'd still have to pay for shipping the old one back to them. will try calling again, and see if i can get one for free lol

same thing with mine. went through 2 amaze 4g's and 5 batteries in 2 months. I end up buying a new battery once every 2 weeks.
One thing i know that WILL kill my battery is if i plug it into the outlet on an amtrak train. Every time i exit the train, its dead. Learned that the hard way.
I also keep the rubber case that came with it off. It happens less and less that way. I think it's overheating, since it was very hot out each time.
Hello guys,
I've also about the same problem, My Amaze is Asian version with JuopunutBear S-OFF and ICS Speed Rom installed.
The problem with my phone is that while its charging or in use, it doesn't shut down, but when idle for some time with no music application running in background, it shut down.
then it doesn't turn on unless you pull the battery for a while and re insert it,
Can anyone plz tell me what's the issue, is it battery or some culprit application?
Thanks
I had the same issue on my phone. It was due to the kernel issue .I flashed super wipe once & flashed backup again . Now my battery is ok & I found no rendom shutdowns anymore . try this if it helps you.
Using stock rom 4.0.3 s-off Rooted.

which kernal you're using now??
I used to had the same issue. Tried updating Android using stock, changing the ROM to a custom one (CM, Energizer, etc.), changing the kernel. nothing seemed to help. In the meantime, I bought a battery from eBay. Took about 3,5 to 4 months to arrive (yeah, **** me, I'm from Argentina). I put it on and VOILĂ€. Holy solution.
It is an Anker one, so it has more capacity also
I m using faux kernel v. 31

I have an s-off,unlocked bootloader and custom rom htc amaze. My phone keeps rebooting randomly. It even rebooted when it was s-on and locked bootloader with the stock rom. I don't know what to do I got a new battery as well,Anker battery I bought off amazon. Even with the new battery it still reboot randomly. Is it the phone or the battery? the battery that came with the phone I knew it was messed up because it kept dying really quick and it took forever to charge. Even tho I got the phone new at T-Mobile. I don't have the same contract anymore I got a new contract so I don't have insurance on the phone.

When I start getting random reboots, the first thing I try is recalibrating the battery. The battery stats can get out of whack when flashing a new rom or installing a new battery which will cause random rebooting.
To reset the battery stats:
1) Charge your phone to 100%
2) Reboot into Recovery and select clear battery stats (or use a app like BatteryCalibration to reset stats without using Recovery mode)
3) Reboot into Rom (if recovery method used)
4) Use phone and do not charge until it dies, then fully recharge. Suggest repeating step 4 two or three times.
I've done that already. But it still reboots

Are you using 4ext recovery? If not switch to it, it works better than the other recoveries on HTC phones.
Have you tried reflashing the stock ICS RUU? When I first upgraded to ICS and flashed a custom rom, my phone was doing weird things and was unstable. Was still acting the same when I tried a different custom rom. So I decided to start fresh and wiped everything then reflashed the stock rom. After that, I wiped everything again and flashed a custom rom again. Everything has been fine since (knock on wood).
If that's not it, I'm out of ideas and hope someone more knowledgeable will chime in.
PS. Don't do a restore to the stock rom if you made a backup. Actually flash the stock rom.
Change your battery. It's been mentioned on here more than a dozen times.
I'll try going back to stock like you said thanks

is that true? I've been doing that every time my screen freezes, getting some crazy random reboots... and by the way whats RUU ?
Ive been using cm10 on my amaze and no random reboots u should try it with 300mhz as minimum speed and 1.2-1.5ghz max speed and use 4ext recovery and remember to do a full wipe and cache + dalvik wipe... if for any reason the reboots continue buy this http://www.amazon.com/EZOPower-Stan...1354770987&sr=1-69&keywords=htc+amaze+battery

I had my phone today and everything seemed to be running fine but I happened to let it die completely while in my pocket. I went to plug it in and no LED, no charging, no nothing. When I put it on my wireless charger, the charger's green light says it is charging but my phone doesn't seem to respond to anything. I tried holding down Power+volume up+volume down and still nothing. Before it happened i was running official CM10.2 and the crpalmer kernel and everything seemed great. What do ya'll think?

Ouch. At least you have a backup. I'm assuming that you don't have the insurance? I've never had to use it, but as expensive as these things are and the fact that I have 3 children makes me paranoid.

Battery pull
When that happens, the battery usually has to be pulled for it to turn back on. The problem is, the DNA doesn't have a removable, or even easily accessible battery. This same problem happened to me a while back, and the remedy was to pry off the back cover, unscrew the metal plate holding the battery connector to the board, and unplug the connector for about 10 or 15 seconds before reconnecting it. After that, charging LED came on like normal and the phone booted up just fine. It's only happened twice in the last 3 months, and it works every time.
Lesson learned - don't let the battery die!

It's official. My old DNA is dead. I had it plugged in the following day after it started working again. When I woke up, it was turned off and refused to turn back on. I am not sure what happened.
