As title says - can i install new and may be better keyboard on CM9? Someone using another one?
I see there are JB keyboards, 4.1.2 Xperia Keyboards?
Someone?
You can install any keyboard you like Just install the apk or copy over the apk & needed libs to your phone (app in /system/app and libs in the corresponding directory ) and set permissions 644 to get it working
Searching here would give you access to many different ones Reply here if you are looking for one in particular

Hey everyone,
Is it possible to extract the soft keyboard from the stock rom on my xperia active and make it work on cyanogen ?
Browsing other threads, I found some solution for Xperia Mini Pro
batwingnz said:
Same reslut on .42 as with .58, SK17i
SOLUTION:
I coped the contents of "keylayout" and "keyprint" folders from official stable release, http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/32768-cyanogenmod-7-for-the-xperia-mini-pro-v7102-24-oct-2011/
Then using Root Explorer and changed all permissions to:
rw
r
r
Then reboot and you've got a working keyboard, sym key not included.

try using that method, maybe it will work
Ofc. copy that files from your original stock ROM
thanks, I found this thread but didn't get that the layout could be the soft keyboard, will try when I get back to cyano, I just flashed a new rom
Hi, the solution I posted was for hardware keyboard only.
If you guys do work out the software keyboard too that'd be awesome, i've had a go but not quite worked out sin2img just yet cause only stock dump I have is in .ftf format I'm not sure how to get files out.

I believe this is what you're searching for...
Either install it like a normal app, or if that fail's try putting it in the /system/app/ folder.
Thanks for the file, copied to system/app and changed permissions 644, reboot. Nothing showed up, thanks though was worth a try
You need to enable it as an option i think. If the OS doesnt have the code to call the app automatically, go check language and keyboard settings.
Hi, thanks for reminder for others that don't know to do this, I should remember to explain every step I took, it never appeared in the list of keyboards to enable.
hmmm. what i did is that i use titanium back up and just google ''chinesetextinput.apk''
I am using my phone right now that's why I can't upload today
Hope this works, because it worked with mine

thank you guys, I'll try it this weekend.
Hello, did it work?
Because I don't want to buy Swiftkey, just to get Autocorrect for my hardware keyboard.
I have Xperia U and I really like Xperia keyboard with alpha numeric T9, works great when typing in my language and for me QWERTY is too narrow on 3.5".
Thing is that I want to install CM9 and use it as only ROM. Maybe not right now but I'm planing to use CM9 and only CM9. I did find some Xperia keyboards in different topics about swype witch is not important to me.
My question is, what do I need to copy from my phone (C.1.0 ROM) to CM9 to have complete Xperia keyboard with "My words" list?
System/app/textinput-tng.apk, System/lib/libXT9Engine.so and System/usr/xt9
Copy those 2 files and folder to same locations in your phone, set appropriate permissions and it should work Best of luck Let me know how it works out !
Cheers
It seems to work fine. I lost my words but not a big deal.
Except these files you suggested, I copied few more layouts that I found in usr folder. I don't know if that changed anything but it looked like could be part of keyboard.
Thank you for your help.
Glad to be of service Cheers
Does anybody know where is the file that holds "my words"? I would like to be able to backup and edit that file because I often change ROMs.

Me too. Check the link at the end of my post, I found a port of the Sony keyboard (with T9) which works perfectly on CM9. You flash it at boot, then start phone, go to settings, select the keyboard and it will work just fine!

I don't warranty this, use at your risk
Best way is to find stock keyboard in forum & install or flash it.
2nd solution :
Grab "Latin ime " from a deodexed rom (root/system /app / Latin ime. Apk )
#if Latin ime.odex exist so rom is odexed, you must deodex it or try another rom
Install extracted .apk like normal app.
->If you wanna make it as a system app so you must clear dalvik cache too.(if any problems pm me, cause there are more important things that u must know)

hello,
can you point me to the right direction?
i extracted latinime.apk and touchpal.apk from a stock rom (android 2.2.1 for Huawei U8150) both with an odex file, tried to:
- install touchpal (the keyboard i want) as a normal apk with no luck
- copy it to /system/app then reboot, no luck,
- universal deodexer v3 to deodex the apk, something went wrong 'cause i got some "0 files were copied" messages from it so... no luck
can you tell me what am not doing right? i dont want the market version of TouchPal since it doesn't has the 12-key layout, so i want to extract this stock rom keyboard

You copy touchpal.apk and touchpal.odex to system/app and set the permissions to 644 (rw-r-r). There may be additional files you may need to get language settings etc, which could be in system/usr and even maybe a lib or two in system/lib. But try it as i said first

Done
- files copied to /system/app (using total commander with root permission)
- permissions changed to 644 using a terminal emulator (in the phone)
- rebooted
Result:
- not showing yet under the language & keyboard settings
- not listed as an avaible keyboard on text boxes (when you hold the finger over and input method option shows)
What's the next step?

Hallo, this is unoficialll MIUI V5 for Xperia Go based on STOCK JB rom!
First thing that I must to say is "disclaimer":
Everything that is not originally maded by Sony is custom thing, so everything from here is modified Sony files and these files is "custom files"! So before you go to play with these modified files keep in mind that everything from here is custom thing and you installing these things on your own risk! I no want and I will not be responsible if something go wrong, if you lost your private data, if your device can not boot ...etc...etc, you doing everything on your own risk!!! If you no want to risk than skip this thread!!!
Rom is complete but not for daily use! All patches is welcome!
git:
https://github.com/munjeni/miui_v5_lotus
]have some popup messages with error to phone apk
:good:
First impressing after looking through rom-folders is framework-res is "mighty fat". Its nearly double-sized than stock ones.
I have no time to check framework-res because I need to fix smali bugs which prevent first "stable" screen. If some one want to contribute and fix remaining bugs, here is temp folder -> http://munjeni.homeunix.com/temp after initial patchings so we need to look into reject folder and fix remaining smalis to get rom working! If some one patched (and tested) something please attach it here (only working things!) !
My git is here -> https://github.com/munjeni/miui_v5_lotus
Because Micode have no mdpi apks I used them from MIUI V5_MINI PRO_3.4.19
Good news for you, got it!
How to:
remove Phone.apk from /system/app (phone can not boot using this apk! Only a way by now is removing them. Framework smalis need patchings to get this apk and mobile networks working!)
remove Provision.apk from /system/app (Whats use of this apk???)
remove SEMCSetupWizard.apk from /system/app (phone can not boot using this apk)
replace android.policy.jar using file from attachment
Install these modified zip and you are done :good:
You can start reporting everything about this rom! Rom need a lot of work and I have no free time by now to work in them, hope some one use them and patch all remaining bugs! This rom you can use as a base! Hope Sola, P and U guys use this rom and finish them! Rom is 80% finished, 20% is bugs! Enjoy!!!

No need to edit build.prop its edited by default by micode, only you need to use 2 libs from stock rom (libhwui.so and libjni_latime.so) and one binary (installd) and add them to your rom zip, allso you can use all frameworks from current rom and add to your rom zip, allso you need to add shelld service to ramdisk, and allso you need to remove some apk from your zip (see previous post) and you will get rom working!
Make sure compile hdpi apks instead of xhdpi (you need to find where is xhdpi definition and change them to hdpi)... !
Edit:
Forgot to let you know something. You need:
adb shell chmod 06755 /system/xbin/*
adb shell chmod 755 /system/bin/*
...because some files have no right permission!

Sure, i already put "local-density := HDPI" in makefile
Permissions... i didn't look after the in xbin - /bin is set.
Good news for P guys Got booted for Xperia P
Working: Launcher, Statusbar, Toggles and also task manager!
not working: anything else (even file explorer won't open and get reboot on lock! but will try to fix )
EDIT:
got working other Mi programs by replacing android.policy.jar (so it's a smali bug) but modems are not working and settings is a bit miss sized
will try to fix these :good:
hope we can get a fully working MIUI V5 :fingers-crossed:
Well, since you have working build you can start patching frameworks. You no need to use patchrom anymore, just simple using apktool you can patch a rest of smalis trought "reject" folder / reading logcat...

hey Munenji..
I love miuiv5 .. but i can't download this torrent.. and can you tell that when will you fix its bugs and make it ready for daily use .
Maybe never, maybe soon, I don't know! Now I am very satisfied with stock rom + ex.se and simple thinking stock rom is better that MIUI, so no need by now to waste time in making bug clean MIUI v5 Hope some one use them and finish them?!
well, all the good stuff from miui are in the ex.se so..
And for those who want the "iphonish" look, just ad the miui launcher found at playstore
I just love MIUI music Player, sad that is not ported to another rom

@munjeni - Have you tried building the ROM on top of the latest firmware available? Maybe the changes needed with it are less troublesome.

Porting MIUI will ever be difficult for our phones, because we haven't "standart hardware", like ST-E U8500 chip, mali gpu and some other things. So, whatever rom we would like to port needs to get the drivers for that. It would be quiet easier, if we have a Qualcomm chip and an Andreno gpu.

true, but MIUI sure is worth it
wouldn't it be easier to wait for a stable cm10 and use that to port from another cm10 based rom?

Hi guys!
I need stock ui's (frameworks) mod of Xperia Pro. These ui's can be GB, ICS or JB. I want these ui's for the Keyboard letter case visibles. All custom roms ui's don't have case view, only stock roms ui's have this.
I can't make own ui. If you can not give me these ui's flashable zip file, show me how to export ui from stock firmwares....
Sorry for my English.
It's under /system/apps/SystemUI.apk

Edit: I took stock GB's SystemUI.apk file.
SystemUI.apk is just the status bar not the whole OS UI
framework-res.apk holds the thing you want
Oops... Looks like I read the thread wrongly.
Framework-res.apk can be found in /system/framework

Thanks guys! I will try it.
I tried with as:
First, copied framework-res.apk from official Xperia Pro's ICS firmware to my desktop.
Than I downloaded this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147958, and opened zip with 7-zip and replaced rom's framework-res.apk file with stock file.
After than, flashed modified rom's zip, everything completed successfully.
After flashing, I rebooted my phone. After reboot, the animated boot logo not gone for 10 minitues. So my phone not booted successfully.
The result is fail
It will not work because you are trying to use ICS framework on JB :silly:
The two are not compatible with one another.
