i9300 running stock JB rom (Vodafone NZ)
The phone's been lagging a bit for the past few days and occasionally freezing for a few seconds at a time. Figured there was something slowing it down and I'd do a factory reset when I got the time. Woke up today and the phone was showing the splash screen.
Holding the power button only serves to reload the splash screen.
Vol UP + Home + Power only reloads the splash screen
Vol DWN + Home + Power surprisingly brings up the download mode page however, not sure I want to try flashing over a ROM with the phone in it's current state and without clearing caches etc.
Connecting to a power source starts the battery charging animation but freezes on the spinning loading circle
Same results with memory card/sim removed.
Any ideas what it could be? Another trip out to the Samsung repair center for me
Update 1
Attempts at flashing stock ROM with Odin failed, no luck using any repartition settings
Update 2
Phone went into Samsung today, the guy pressed the power button and instantly said they'll have to replace the board. This means there was no chance it was a software issue and also that this is a fault they're familiar with. This is the second time I've had to have my phone repaired. In the ~5 months I've owned it I've had the screen replaced (faulty), the charger port replaced, and now the whole motherboard. I'll update this when I hear back from Samsung and the repairs completed - hopefully under warranty.
Update 3
Phone repaired by Samsung. It seems the issue was definitively hardware related and unable to be fixed with any form of ROM or software.
It may be related to the SDS issue that has affected many of the 16gb models of this phone. However since it seems you can get into download mode maybe your phone can still be saved. Download the latest firmware for you region from Sammobile and try to flash that through download mode.

Thanks mate. How much of a potential issue would not being able to clear the delvic cache/factory reset be when installing new firmware?
Also, yes this is the 16gb international model
It is generally advisable to wipe data/factory reset before flashing anything but since it seems you cannot do this, this may be your only option. I'm not too experienced with the s3, but from previous phones my experience is that not wiping just causes FC's and stuff but nothing much.

Try to flash the latest stock rom with odin and make sure you have latest drivers installed before flashing
So I've just attempted to flash the stock ROM onto my phone. Odin's giving me a "There is no PIT partition" fault. Can I click re-partition in Odin or load a PIT file?
2nas.com
Provides :
1: Integrates Unbrick / Flash ROM / Root All-In-One.
2: Use the same protocol as ODIN, but 2nas is more user-friendly and easy-to-use.
3: Cloud based database to flash your android phone with correct files(ROM, etc)
4: Automatically download necessery files to flash, and check them with SHA1, it's safe for your phone.
5: Store all downloaded files in local disk, under a good directory structure, it's usefull when you have several phones.

I punched in this code: *#*#2663#*#* to update the firmware for my touch-screen and touch-key.
When I hit "Touch Key FW update" it updated really fast and everything was great!
When I hit "TSO FW update" is said "Now Updating... Warning! Do not turn off!" And it STAYED THERE FROZEN...
It said "Do not turn off!" So I left it until the battery died!
Then I plugged it in to charge it, and now the back button and menu button BOTH don't work at all! I tried two more times to "TSP FW Update" but it's totally permenantly frozen!
I tried flashing the stock firmware!
I can't get to the menu to do "factory reset!"
What do I do??
Have you tried using a USB jig and reloading firmware using Odin?

I have completely reloaded the firmware twice since then from a stock rom. I used Odin for it. My operating system works fine, generally, but the menu and back keys will not work.
But, are you saying that I can use Odin to specifically reload the TSP firmware? Because I haven't done that. If that's what you're saying, do you know where I can get TSP firmware?

Never heard of that and you dont need a uSB jig anyway as you are loading firmware ok .
I would download correct stock firmware .
Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware .Or need to return to service or decide if its hardware/firmware problem .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system sd card .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware .
Still problems use usb jig to set rom counter to zero if rooted or custom roms used ..
Return to service centre .

Hi,
So this issue has been fixed??
Hi all. Well... It happened to me too. I followed an advice to remove 4.3 lag by updating this, and lost all touch.
The screen won't even turn on now, but I know the phone is powered up because when I plug in a usb cable I get the windows popup.
Wow this sucks so much and I'd like to ask for any advice if there's a fix for this. I'll try to check if I can enter recovery and reflash the rom, but I think all my buttons are dead.
---------- Post added at 06:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:59 PM ----------
Update: after maybe an hour it came back to life. I had good battery so I guess it was downloading/updating stuff, during which I had no control of the phone.
As far as the experience enjoyment, I give it a 2/10, would not do again.
So it was in that "Now Updating... Warning! Do not turn off!" mode for a hour and after that all was normal again? Is the wakeup problem solved with that?

Hi there pattmayne and particularly anyone still getting mileage from their GT-I9000M,
I had this issue with Galaxy S Vibrant (North America) - GT-I9000M (the M is significant). I thought I would explore the *#2663# option and hey, why not update everything while I am there. I lost the use of my Menu and Back soft buttons and no amount of flashing or factory resetting seemed to help.
I found a promising solution on an obscure board (to me : forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2181386) as follows :
- Run the TSP FW update,
- Although it may appear to be stuck, wait a good number of minutes to be sure it has done what it needs to do,
- Interrupt the « update » specifically by removing the battery,
- [wait a few seconds for memory to discharge],
- Insert the battery, start up again, and run the other update, TS FW,
- Voila !
In order to access the special code, I had to flash back to stock and for some reason, I decided to flash back to Froyo instead of Gingerbread. The result being that from 2.2-Froyo, the TSP FW update actually worked, so I did not have to bother with pulling the battery. I am very happy to have my phone back in one piece !
I much prefer Heimdall over Odin, however I did have to do some research to find a decent Heimdall tutorial.
You should be able to find the stock files for Froyo by searching for GT_I9000M_UGJK3_UGJK3_BMCJK3.
If you can't, ping me and I will get around to providing a full write-up on how to mod your GT-I9000M (with many thanks to those that have gone before me).
Hi, i have more or less the same problem with my Galaxy S4 GT I9505. After updating to lollipop (5.0.1) the back and menu buttons were not working anymore so i started searching for some solutions, and i saw the updating touchscreen firmware option and now the fit touch is not working anymore as the buttons. I read that making that i could have fried the LCD Touchscreen. I dont hope so, the LCD is new, I've re-flashed to 5.0.1 as a reinstall. And theres no solution. I need help, i cant afford another 65€ in other LCD

There is a 26 page long thread over on the S4 forum about exactly this problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3250132
It is doubtful that anybody on the S2 forum will be able to help you as anything that works for the S2 probably won't work on the S4......
Sorry fella, your best bet is to post in the thread I linked you to.....
Good luck.

why on earth the at&t Lineup of SGS family always getting the same

i used to have an sammy's captivate and the SOD problem was very annoying!
a year ago i was intended to change cappy for his bigger brother the infuse 4g
but i didn't because more SOD problems.
is this a curse or someone in the at&t lineup is jerking all over the

I've never had an SoD of my phone unless I was messing around with something I shouldn't have in the kernel source code. (And no kernels along those lines ever made it to the public...)
So your saying that i should'v be Paranoid about the phone?
By the way is there any chance to put LTR Support in a rom?
Thats about it..
Many thankes!

I never had SoDs with my Infuse either, except for the early days when I was unaware of the 800 MHz suspend limitation, or when I was too aggressive with undervolting.
SetCPU with a screen off profile that has a limit of less than 800 MHz = almost guaranteed SoD on unpatched kernels. But anyone who is rooted running SetCPU can install a patched kernel to fix that. The 800 MHz suspend limit issue doesn't affect anyone with a stock device.
I do recall that something about Widget Locker somehow causes SoDs (most likely because it mucks around with the lockscreen code), but again - that's not an issue with a stock phone.
i had SoD on stock firmware and i get it about 3 times a week on CM7.1 as well. it's the most frustrating thing about this phone. and that is saying something
Excuse my ignorance but what is SoD

It's Sleep of Death.
Meaning when you put the phone into sleep, it actually goes into coma .
You have to spank it a few times before it wakes up.
I had an AT&T GS1 that had major SoD issues. It's the most annoying thing ever.
Now my GS2 just has battery issues, where the Android system takes up to 80% of the phone's battery life sometimes.

Android System or Android OS? The latter is a known issue with the UCKK6 update.
Different SoC no prob. Check i9100 forums. Almost same phone and no problems with SoD

Reinstall using Kies Firmware Upgrade And Initialization
I did the following suggested by someone at At&T forum. It seems working. I am posting detailed steps here for anyone who is interested,
Please backup everything on your phone memory before you attempt this. This will wipe out your phone completely.
1. Open Samsung Kies as Administrator
2. Goto Tools -> Firmware upgrade and initialization
3. Enter the model name SGH-I777 (in all upper case letters)
4. Enter the Serial Number of your phone. This can be found under the batter.
5. Click OK. Then you need to accept the warning and it will tell you which firmware it is going to flash onto your phone. It will be 4.0.4. Accept that as well.
5. It will download the necessary files. At this point you can shut down the phone and remove the battery and re-insert the battery.
6. The while pressing the volume Up and Down keys simultaneously (Not the power button) plug the USB cable. Your phone should boot into download mode. It will display a message Downloading..... on the screen.
7. Start Upgrade button on the Kies upgrade screen should now be activated. If not, you may need to reinstall the USB drivers for i777 and may need to reinstall Kies.
8. Once you hit Start Upgrade button, it will start download the proper firmware from the web and then start sending it to the phone. You will see a progress bar in the phone as well. Sometimes it could give you an error similar to "DLL load failure..." If that happened, try change the Compatibility mode of Samsung Kies to Windows Vista SP2 and run in Administrator mode. This can be done by right clicking on Kies icon and selecting Properties --> Compatibility tab.
9. Once the Kies finish transferring the firmware to the phone, the phone will start installing it and once finished, it will reboot.
10. I also factory reset the phone after the upgrade by booting into stock recovery console. You can shut down the phone, press Volume UP + DOWN together and press power button without releasing the volume keys. Then select Factory Wipe and hit Power button.
11. I disabled all the AT&T bloatware anyway because I don't like them and use them anyway. I don't know that was the case because it didn't help me earlier.
Now my phone works as it used to be. 4.0.4 seems to have a good battery life even with WiFi switched on all the time. Earlier if I keep WiFi on for few hours it completely drains my battery. I am happy with my phone again.
Thanks scot070 at AT&T forum for the wonderful tip.

Way to go, necroposter. Raised this one from the dead with a post that has little, if anything, to do with SoDs. Genius!
Uploading....Coming soon
Hello everyone this is the official odin package for the galaxy mega ATT version. With this you can get your phone back working if you get the "This phone is not running authorized software crap. " etc . Also hope it encourages more people to find a root method without the fear of having a brick. As many of you know this package was nowhere to be found so I had to bribe a Samsung employee to give it to me which means it wasn't free for me but I'm sharing it with you guys so if you send me a beer my way i'll be happy not mandatory.
This package is in multiple parts:
I527UCUBNE7
AP: Must be flashed under PDA in Odin. This is the biggest file and contains your system, recovery and kernel partition Download
BL: This is the bootloader. If you already took the update ignore this but if you want to upgrade your phone you must flash this Download
CP: This is the modem and other network related partitions. You must flash this under Phone in odin Download
CSC: This contains carrier related settings for our firmare. Flash this under CSC in odin. Download
Highly Recommended to perform a factory reset after the flashing is completed. Let me know your results
Omg !! Super thanks bro !!!! =))))))))
So good !!!!! update successfully
Thanks again !!!
so the guys that have tried this can confirm that is working!
and also liked to know how root is being dealt with

Garack has been working on it and has actually posted a file to flash in Odin I beleive. He say that if it boots up, then root should be obtainable.
Not sure anyone has tried it yet.

@ Sunderwear Thank you very much for the great post and instructions. I'm currently testing it out with my i527 AT&T with ODIN 3.09... will post results in a few minutes. My phone was stuck in reboot after official 4.4.2 AT&T update left it in loop mode... give me a few minuytes and I'll post my results!
Too close. I did all the steps, and indeed it passed all Odin steps (picture), but it's still stuck in loop mode. When I try to go into Recovery mode (Vol + and HOME), it will only show the blue letters on top of the screen (picture), then it reboots on its own... no fix do you know a possible fix for loop mode.
If I go to Odin mode (Vol - and HOME), this is what I got (picture)...

Ok, I used a different port using also a brand new official/original Samsung MicroUSB cable to retest it. :crying: no work, again stuck in loop mode. Tomorrow, I will get another computer to retest this with another one. Will post the results tomorrow.
When the phone loops, I do not have any letters that appear anywhere besides the Samsung Galaxy Mega logo. it just vibrates, and then it restarts without showing any messages/letters.
You mentioned "Red letters at System Upload" is that when I hold Vol - and home? because I only get the blue letters if I do the Vol+ and home.
Thank you for your patience man. I'm sort of a noob, well, not sort of!

No worries. I was asking because the same happened to me with a customers phone..got screen replaced..then he took the 4.4.2 ota update..got stuck at samsung logo bootloop..i loaded the firmware like 4 times..re partition with pit file and erase all nand...I would get stuck in the same screen saying entering recovery..So it's an issue going around. Last resort would be sending it to Samsung

Yes Sunderwear that will happen because there is 3rd parties making aftermarket screens and people were buying them as replacements...If you don't have the OEM screen the driver in the firmware won't work and it will hang...I run in to something like this on a Galaxy S4 I repaired...

Officially I have 2 that are not working properly and stuck on boot loop. My wife and daughter are working properly on 4.4.2 my son's now and mine are stuck in boot loop. Wife's phone has original screen and it's working properly, my daughter has a replacement screen I bought on ebay for about $160.00 on January. My son's I've replaced the screens about 3-5 times already (a ton of money wasted), and mine, recently I did replaced it on May (before the 4.4.2 update on June). Here goes the issue:
My son's phone updated today about 2 hours ago while we were visiting the AT&T store for U-Verse Quote. Did not know it updated until we got home... Sons' phone is stuck in boot loop also now!!!!!!!!!!!! What I did was I took my daughters phone apart (with expensive replacement screen and currently running 4.4.2), and installed the screen on my sons and then mine, and each phone would work flawlessly with that screen, so I took the current replacement screens I had from my phone and my son to install them on my daughter's and each one would go into boot loop.
After that, I re installed the good screen on my daughters back, and daughters work properly again. I guess the generic OEM screens from eBay I've been buying for $50 bucks are not compatible with 4.4.2 Kitkat, they are only compatible with 4.2.2 Jelly bean.
Anyone knows where I can buy original screens? I've contacted several sellers on eBay to see if the screens work on 4.4.2 because I don't want to spend more money on screens. I just got 1 from China 2 days ago, and that one also gets stuck in boot loop... so frustrated with screens. All my OT from work goes to pay for these issues... Help anyone? Anyone sells working 4.4.2 compatible screens?
Also, I will buy a broken ORIGINAL screens from ebay (like $7-$10) to test it out and verify. I will post results. Hope this experiment (and my sadness) will help you guys out if stuck in boot loop.
P.S. Oh yeah, I did do both phones on PDA, then all BL,PDA, etc... and I still get boot looped. I have to say THANK YOU to the original autheor because it does work! It's just my screens that doesn't work!!!!! HELP GUYS!!!!!:crying:
Is there a certian order u need to flash these in?
Any short tutorials..
Ive flashed odin pda only b4..
Have to factory reset first?
Thanks guys.
So here is the story:
My phone was running slow and the battery would drain out like crazy, so I read through a few forums here and there and decided I would FACTORY RESET my phone. Now might I mention, my phone was previously rooted by using a method from galaxyroots2 ( I picked the one for GT-I9100 ). I had ROOTED IT TWICE before. Both times work flawlessly. Now this time, for some very odd reason, my phone is stuck on a Screen which displays "Samsung GALAXY S II GT-I9100" with a little YELLOW TRIANGLE at the bottom. I pulled out the battery a few times but to no avail. Now I Am able to access DOWNLOAD MODE, but I cannot access the other mode where you hold the VOL button up rather than down. I'm kinda out of ideas, I figured this would take me 5 minutes like the last time. The KERNEL is a JEEBOO Kernel, I used Odin v1.85. I haven't performed any updates since it has been rooted.
NOW MY QUESTION IS : HOW CAN I GET PAST THE SCREEN WITH THE YELLOW TRIANGLE? and please dumb down things as much as possible. I'm not the greatest when it comes to these sort of things.
SO now I am currently trying to troubleshoot using a little something I found on cnet, with "How to go back to a stock Android ROM on Samsung Galaxy S2" as a title. I have to download the official firmware first, which will take a bit of time. Update in a few hours.
Solved the problem. Here is what I did
1. Google search "android firmwares" and go to the first link ("androidfirmwares"-dot-net)
2. Go under the Galaxy S2 tab and select Firmwares. Choose the most recent one or the one that works with yours (Mine was MS4)
3. Unzip the .tar file in the compressed file you downloaded
4.On your phone, hold the Vol button down with the home button and the power button simultaneously to open dowload mode
5. Goto Odin and click on the PDA button. Select the .tar file you just downloaded
6. Press Start
7. ???
8. Profit

I think u flashed something wrong, u said u have a gt-i9100 but I think jeboo kernel is for another galaxy s2 model. So that should be the reason why it didn't boot.
Well but now u found solution so never mind
Next time be sure to flash the right things, in worst case u can be bricked without any way to get back to life
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Free mobile app
Hello,
I've purchased a Galaxy Tab S6 (SM-T865N) International version, mainly to use it with with 4G in US on Xfinity Mobile. I received the tablet, inserted the SIM card and it was working 'relatively' on the network. Every now & then I would get a message 'failed to register to network', but for the most part, mobile data is working.
Since it is a Korea version, certain things don't work. Nothing major, but I would like to make it perfect. Certain User update posts in the Galaxy store display in Korean Language, and the weather app is slightly limited, with the error 'not available outside of Korea'.
I did some searching and found other firmware available for this exact model on Sammobile. My country (US) is not supported, but I would like to try the UK firmware, if nothing else, to fix some of the language issues. I downloaded the UK firmware package and Odin (3.13 & 3.14.1). I installed the Samsung drivers. I booted the tablet into recovery by holding 'power & volume up' then connected it to the computer. Odin WILL NOT found the tablet. I rebooted into the normal OS and connected it and Odin then found it, but obviously that doesn't work. I can not get Odin to connect while in recovery.
Does anyone have suggestions on what might be happening?
And maybe all this effort isn't worth it either, hard telling whether it'll work better or worse with the UK firmware on it. Any tips?
It's been several years since I did this sort of thing, so I'm a little rusty. I thought this would be a simple procedure.
it sounds to me like you are not putting it into download / Odin mode, but I could be wrong. I haven't tried to use Odin on this tablet yet, but was actually about to do this same thing as well, as my device has an origin CSC of singapore, and hasn't had an official update in almost 2 months, so I was going to flash the UK version as well.

So I just tested it on my tablet, here is what you need to do:
Power off the device
Press and hold the Volume up button and then press and hold the power button
When you see the initial boot screen, release the power button, but keep holding volume button
When you get to the recovery screen, you need to use the volume up / down buttons to highlight the option that has "bootloader" in the title, and press the power button to select it.
Then you should see a screen that says "Download" or something like that.
Plug in USB, and Odin should see the device.
Yeah, you're booting into recovery, you need to boot into Download mode - Hold both volume up and down whilst inserting the USB-C cable to enter Download mode.
Your correct

Your Correct. Device needs to be plugged into the pc for it to boot to the screen that shows all the info. I wonder why they made this a requirement. Its very unintuitive. I also didn't see it documented anywhere. How did you find out about this ? Thanks again for the help!

You wouldn't happen to have that firmwire file handy / a way to share it online would you? Sammobile's free download server is down right now, and I was going to try to flash it this weekend.

Did you able to flash that firmware on your tablet?
IF you mean did I succeed in flashing it through Odin then yes BUT unfortunately I couldn't get it to reboot correctly & it takes a lot of time trying to reboot but still no luck. So, I took it to a repair shop & they told me it needs new motherboard !! How can this be even possible IF I still can get it to connect to Odin and download the firmware successfully BUT no luck in getting it to reboot correctly!!

Have you tried reflashing the old firmware of your country? Weird that its not working.
I did try that and managed to flash it successfully to the old firmware using Odin but unfortunately I still couldn't get it past a full reboot as it got stuck after a long time and it takes me to the Android System Recovery screen wherein also tried to 'wipe cache partition.’ and try reboot again but I still end up with the recovery screen!

Can't you put in a warranty claim ? Here where i am based i had a new battery, and new screen installed from samsung! this was a Galaxy S8+ was well over 2 years old they did it for free! New screen and new battery! My Note 9 is going this monday for a new battery my Tab S6 works flawlessly so don't need to send that in! but i'm sure if you ring up Samsung they will replace the motherboard for free as it's not even 12 months old!
