Siyah vs. Boeffla - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I know we all hate the "What is the best..." threads. But after searching for answers on Siyah and Boeffla, I still can't make a decision on which kernel to use. I've previously used Siyah but recently I've seen a lot of power users start jumping ship to Boeffla. I'd like to get some feedback on folks who've used both kernels and the reason why they prefer one over another. What are the pros and cons of both kernels?
Thanks guys!

Siyah the best kernel so far. I tried everyone and afterwards i was back to Siyah, and STweaks just godlike. Boefla freezes my phone after 30min of using.

I thought Boeffla was meant to be a stable kernel without overclocking. Is it the kernel for sure?

Siyah or N.E.A.K Kernel?

Has anyone with a 2000mah, or anyone with any battery for that matter tried both of these kernels?
Currently on Siyah, can roughky get 2 days out of it.
Was looking at the N.E.A.K Kernel. Looks intresting. Was wondering if anyone has any opinions after trying Siyah?
For battery life I choose N.E.A.K.Now i am using N.E.A.k
Might try NEAK.
Anyone else anythign to say?

I love siyah for me that is always the beast of all kernels but lately NEAK has won me over with its vibrant sexy colours and battery life is amazing to..So i would suggest NEAK
Flashed Neak.
Cant say ive noticed coour change, then against i use the lowest brightness setting!

There are many other good kernels for SGS2.
Such as SpeedMod K2-21 or RedPill rev1.3.
FYI, here are my latest test results for the different kernels => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22676908&postcount=10080

put it on automatic brightness and then in settings and display untick the auto power adjuster something like that...and then you will see the difference
For battery life I choose N.E.A.K. The Best Performance and very Smooth!
id go with siyah and another good thing is you can use it with cyanogenmod. the battery life is pretty solid imho
My MagicConfig was born with Siyah but now I have been informed that it seems to work just as well if not better on NEAK as well. So I'll have to confirm these findings now.
CheckROM & N.E.A.K. here I come.
Stock LA4 is also good as you can also see from it_ler's results.

N.E.A.K. i think is better than siyah, the battery part , but RedPill 1.3 tops them both. Tryit for yourself
I use siyah. Very good baterylife.
Try neak!! ive never seen a kernel like dat before....

I used to be on Siyah but I found RedPill recently and was amazed by it.
Didn't try NEAK yet though...

[Q] Siyah vs entrophy

If im running CM7, am i better off using siyah or entrophy's kernel? I've read siyah recommends entrophy.
I mainly want to OC to 1.6. Possibly Undervolt.
Whats the difference between the two?
There are tons of threads on both kernels. Go do some homework.

neither specifically talk about what im asking. AND siyah recommends entrophy, but i know many still use entrophy. So really, im asking why he recommends it over his kernel that seems so popular.
Both kernels are good. They just have different ideas in mind about what they want from the kernel. I believe Siyah is geared more towards performance where Entropy is a good mixture of both. If you're looking for a fast kernel with amazing battery life, Entopy's DD is what you're looking for. Both are CWM compatible so it's literally a 2min swap. Easy enough to try them both to see which works better for you.
Try Sitropy, it's very good.
As the philosophy of this room, "this" is good for me, doesn't necessarily mean it's good for you and vice versa.
So, the recommendation is always "try them all" and select the best, and it is your best, not others' best.
Whats an Entrophy?
There are no Vs. threads. They re both good and they both work... however, they dont work ALL THE SAME for everyone, so you have to try them out to see which one works best for you.

What Kernel do you prefer?

After trying a few, which kernel do you prefer and run as your normal kernel?
For me, I have to stick with Entropy's Daily Driver kernel. Its just rock solid for me and its nice to know that we have a dedicated kernel dev who is always looking to better his kernel and when there were some problems he went through his whole patch-a-day to try and pinpoint the issues and resolve them. My hats off to him.

Im with you. EDD is my fav.
they are both extremely solid. I slightly prefer Siyah only because I tend to get better battery life when combined with the "init.doh" scripts
+1 for Entropy... been rock in for weeks now with zero issues and great battery life. I am so excited to see what he has in store for us now that we have ics source.

Weren't all these threads nuked before?
Entropy always, but if I wanted something experimental I tried Siyah.

We dont do "POST THE BEST ROM" threads. This is a poll to see what people run.
I am using Entropy and it has been rock solid. No freezes or anything. For me with Siyah I would have multiple lockups throughout the day that I had to reboot to get past. Granted I was using Siyah on cm7 though as that may make a difference.

Siyah 2.6.7 is by far the best kernel for performance and battery life

i use Entropy's. I've had the best luck with it. However, I do like the Siyah recovery menus much better.

The recovery menus with the siyah kernal are much more compact. It's annoying have to scroll through all the -NO- options when trying to flash something. Don't have to go through all that when you have the siyah kernel.

Are CM10 and Siyah kernel great for battery life?

I need a good kernel and ROM to have the battery last as long as possible
Now I have Siyah kernel and CM10 ROM.
Is it a good combination?
Or should I change ROM or kernel to Dorimanx for example?
Use latest cm10 with stock cm kernel......I must say awesome combination for better battery life

Siyah is Good, latest version, Dorimanx is also very good too. the option is yours to decide which one to use.
If you don't like one, just flash another one. It takes less than 5mins to flash a kernel

You're going to have to try for yourself. I personally am using siyah, but you might have better luck with another one. Don't forget, you can use different settings in ex tweaks to get even better battery life
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
With every kernel and android, just think about how you use the phone for saving battery. Like turn off wifi/data/sync whatever you are not using, to gain a little more battery. There is a lot of tweaks with every kernel and you will find them, searching the forums for the specific kernel.
GL tweaking
Hi! there a lot of people who suggested that kind of combo, but we can never really tell if it's real until we try it ourselves.
Try some tweaks maybe you'll someday find the right "combo" that suits you. The thing here is that everyone has a different "type of usage".. you may have read a post "omg! I get the best battery life for this xxxx kernel/rom/whatever tweaks"... who knows? he/she could've just said that cause his/her phone had been on standby mode all along xD

I had 2 G2 one with stock kernel and other with dorimanx kernel (default settings) both on stock ROM and compared the two side by side. Stock kernel was much faster and did not show signs of lagg like dorimanx did.
I tested the kernels in real life testing, that matters more than the number of commits
Just sharing my experiences, nothing else.

Dorimanx usually gives better battery so it must come at a cost of performance...lots of people love dorimanx kernel but my experience was kinda like yours...had lags where i didnt have with the stock kernel or furnace kernel(on kitkat). No disrespect, he is a great dev though
