[Q] [4.0.4] Playing RTMPE streams in a standalone player? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I hope this is the correct forum for my query, apologies if it isn't. I had a look before posting but my query is quite unique.
When i play streams through dedicated apps such as Tvcatchup on 4.0.4 (live streaming of UK Freeview channels in a standalone app), streams play flawlessly.
But when I try to play streams within browsers, the video is very jerky (sound is great though).
My next thought was to try and play the network stream directly through a player such as VLC. When I look at the source of the web page containing the embedded player on a streaming site, i get rtmpe:// and http://****.m3u8 links.
Tried to play both via the network stream option in VLC for android (beta) and nothing happens. When I play them on a PC, i get errors. Looking at the playlist.m3u8 file within text editor, it creates a session ID (i am guessing linked to your logon to the website as a way to authenticate users) and tags it onto the end of the .m3u8 URL.
If anyone got previous experience in this area and can offer any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks!

Live BBC Radio via wifi or 3g.

Here are the .rm addresses of some BBC radio stations for live broadcasts.
I got these by installing Real Player Alternative (google it!) on my pc which plays the streams back through Media Player Classic. I then brought up the "Playlist" function in Media Player Classic and hovered the mouse over the encoded address which gave me the true .ra stream information to put into Real Player for PPC.
I have tested all the streams on my x7500 and they work a treat. I get a coach from Balsfjord to Tromsø (1,5hrs) every day and it has a free wifi connection for the passengers so now I listen to the BBC.
This method will also work to get stream information for shows kept on the BBC iplayer for 7 days. So if there is a live broadcast you missed you can listen anytime.
If you put these addresses into a text file and then rename the file name extention .rm e.g. Radio2.rm (not the stream address!) on your Advantage you can use them as buttons on something like claunch that will auto open in Real Player PPC.

The BBC is soon to switch it's iPlayer audio streams over to AAC but the method should work again so long as you can open the stream in Media Player Classic to get the address and then find a new piece of Software that will play AAC streams on the Advantage. (I think Mort's Player may do this already).
enjoy
Another way is to go to www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/radio/listen for WM and RM links for all BBC radio stations
or
http://www.radiofeeds.co.uk/pda/
Thanks guys.
I only listed the live feeds as an example of how to expose the true .rm stream. I know they are freely available elsewhere but I still have not found a regular resourse for the "listen again" streams in iPlayer. As I said in my post you can find the stream address for any shows over the last 7 days via the method I put up.
I should have made that that main point clearer, I know.
opps... thanks matt- i for one should have read your first post more clearly

[Q] Streaming Video and/or Audio from IHOP-KC

I would like to be able to stream the video and/or audio from the International House of Prayer in Kansas City prayer room.
I cannot post links but if you search IHOP-KC and then click on the Prayer Room at the top of the page it will take you to what I would like to see / hear. There are also links to stream using Windows Media and IPHONE/IPAD.
They have developed an IPAD/IPHONE app for it but not one for Android as of yet.
Is there a way I can play this with an app or anything?
I have tried several apps that susposed to allow you to play streaming audio but the ones I have tried do not work.
Thanks for any help.
The best way, so far, is to use m.yourmuze.fm. If you have an account with them there are several links on their site to the IHOP-KC Global Prayer Room. The only downside is that it streams through the video player and you wont be able to multi-task. Hope this helps.

Automate playing an mp3/wma over http/https every morning

I am able to manually type a URL to an MP3/WMA in MX Player's Network stream field; and, MX Player still start playing the audio stream over http/https.
However, I need to automate this so that every morning, MX player (or any media player) will play the same network stream. I know that Tasker is a very powerful automation tool; however, I have no idea how to automate that.
BTW: I noticed that MX Player will associate video files with itself if they're opened via my web browser (so the video is streamed to MXPlayer instead of download the file). However, if I try to do the same with an audio file in my web browser, the audio file will just download instead of associate/playback with MX Player.
Thanks in advance,
MKANET
*sigh* I did a search on google looking for a way to playback mp3 over http/https... my post came up on top. I hope I'm not the first person ever to want to do this.

HTC Media Link HD issues

Hey everyone I've jumped over from the iPhone/Apple ecosystem so don't shoot me, but I'm really disappointed with this HTC Media Link HD. I've still got Airplay running side by side and these problems don't exist. I don't mean that to argue about Airplay and whatnot because neither companies are paying me royalties to argue for or against them. I just mention it because I can Airplay stream and mirror without a hitch so I don't want to fend off "your wireless network stinks" responses. I've got an Asus N66 and can sustain mbps back to my NAS/ESXi well beyond what this needs, and I can also stream non-hand braked blu rays without problem. I understand there is differences between streaming and mirroring, but also as I understand this should be a wireless direct connection.
Anyone having these problems:
1. Google Play (perhaps the latest version only) does not look to work with my Media Link. It will play one song and then stop as it tries to load the next song. Manually restarting the next song doesn't resolve I have to close and re-open. Spotify works fine.
2. Any flash I've tried to stream results in audio and video out of sync. I can mirror flash movies across airplay without this issue.
3. Audio cuts in and out in Spotify all the time. I can rarely get 2 songs to play in a row without chop. The cut outs are brief, but still very annoying.
Thanks for any help! Love the phone quite a bit, this is probably my first disappointment.
I have the same problem trying to stream google play music to media link. It only plays one song and it won't play any other songs until I disconnect from media link again - it works fine if its not connected to media link - but with media link only one song?

This issue exists with Google Play Movies as well. I tried contacting support about it a couple months ago with nothing ever coming from it. I was trying to play All Access via Play Music today and ran into the same problem. The songs will not even play when the Media Link HD is connected. I suspect this is some DRM related code put into all the Google media apps. I submitted a support email to Google as will attempt to get as far through to the real tech support people as I can to see if this incompatibility can be resolved. I urge you all to do the same. Stupid DRM...it ruins everything.
It won't play tv.com either, it will play cnn live broadcast, and vevo.

Twitch.tv website shows non-flash stream

Hi,
did anybody notice that twitch.tv offers somehow an opportunity to watch streams without using the rubbish flash player?
This happened to me when browsing to any channel which is currently live streaming with my i9100 mobile. The control elements within the streamed video are looking different (like native android controls) and a real fullscreen mode can be activated - see the attached screenshots..
The best thing: The video is streamed very smoothly and in high quality.
I tried Opera Classic and the default Android browser. Both had the alternative streaming mode.
Now I also wanted to have this feature on my Android TV box (accually no mobile), but it just shows me the regular flash player here. Changing the user agent to "mobile" did not help either.

WongKit
