I am trying to find a way to set Facebook pictures as my default contact picture. All of my contacts that don't have a Google picture will default to their Facebook picture. If they have a Google picture then it defaults to that instead of the Facebook picture. Is there a way to do this? I used to be able to click on the picture and it would give me the option of which one to pick. I have a Verizon Galaxy S3 with Jelly Bean. I have Facebook set to sync only existing contacts. Thanks!
Be happy
Use this application:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luckydevs.facebookphotosync
I'd prefer not to use any applications to do this. I know it can be done other ways. Thanks though!

I have synched my contact list with Facebook, but when someone rings me their picture is really poor and pixelated. Is there a setting or something I need to change to display it properly? Does anyone else have this problem?
Probably this problem http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=4147
Working workaround: create contact with name and photo only on phone then connect to facebook/google contact. Works but you must delete image from google contact (i didn't found option to choose[\b] account photo source).
Really I'd like to know is there a real cure for this.
I had this problem to. You can't see the pics if you sync it with the Facebook app. Instead I sync my contact (only) with Samsung's Social Hub and then manually join any contacts which the phone can't find automatically. Then I see all the pics, and they also get updated.
NOTE: I can also see the contact pics in LP People widget
Or just install this.

I use it on my desire hd and the caller id pic is very clear.
Sorry I'm probably being thick but could you explain that workaround a bit more?
I have the same problem, the pictures are really pixelated, both when you get a call and when you have them as a buddy widget on one of your homescreens!

Yeah, sure
1. You can install the Facebook app, but don't sync the contacts.
2. Open Samsung's Social Hub. Click on the menu button and then "add account". Choose "Facebook" and add enter your username and password. Choose to sync your contacts (and also the calendar and events too if you want).
Now you should see your Facebook contacts in your phone book (if you don't you need to enable it in the phone book's options).
The phonebook might be able to join your normal contacts with the Facebook contact, but on mine in didn't match too many.
To join them manually, long press on a contact and choose "join contact" - now choose their Facebook profile and they should now be joined.
When that person call's you should also see their status update on your screen.
If the pics on the widget come up blurry then press the widget and it should automatically adjust the image.
Hope this helps...
Does some body knows how you can make goggle picture to become the default contact picture, even if sync of Facebook contacts is on?
I did it on the pc with gmail and the facebook pics dont take over.

Thanks mate sounds interesting as last result
But still would be better if some body knows the way to keep Goggle as default even if you have chosen the pictures via the phone gallery or via internet but on the phone (like I use application called Contact photo).
May be there is an application that you can choose which “source” will be the default one.
Any one?
Hi!
Same problem here.
Very annoying.
Hi,
all my contacts are synced to gmail of course, and with android 2.3.5 with the bigger contact photo size...its looks horrible! (i know the gmail sync causing to this)
is there a way to make photo looks as it should be? i dont mind even using an application to replace the current incoming/outgoing calls.
thanks!
any one?
thanks
There is a way but it's gonna be tedious.
1. Remove the photo from the gmail contact.
2. Create a phone contact and set the photo to it.
3. Link the phone contact to the gmail one.
I have several services like Linkedin, google+, Haxsync etc along with the regular google contacts linked together on my phone for contacts.
I have been unable to choose which accounts photo to display for each contact. The phone by default chooses Haxsync photos to dispaly. How can I, say, choose linkedin photo for a particular contact?

I may have an answer.
It takes the first picture of the accounts set in the order how you configured from the first time.
So for example I configured Google when I turned on the first time or installed a new Rom. Therefore for a my contact I have (click on the accounts merged and you see the list):
1. Google no picture
2. Skype with picture
3. Phone with picture
4. Facebook currently no picture (Indeed I recently removed and re-installed it, and now is the last in the list).
For this contact it takes the picture of the account of Skype.
For others contacts it takes Google if pic is associated, or Facebook if in the all previous accounts no pictures is associated.
Summarizing: we cannot choose
I hope I have been enough clear.

Great, it works, thanks.
But I believe by default the behavior is what I wrote.
Stock Galaxy S3 - Android 4.1.1
I can only use photos taken by my phone as contact photos.
If I go to gallery, and select any picture from the camera album that was taken by the phone ( internal or external storage ) I'm good to go, but if I select a photo from any other stored or edited album I have created, and try to set it as contact photo it will bring up the phone book, allow me to pick my contact, then allow me to crop the picture if need be, but when I click done, I get a black screen and no photo is assigned to my contact.
In other words, if I have downloaded a picture from a text, email, or just transferred from my computer, I can never get that to assign to a contact. I even tried dragging these photos into the camera album and repeating the process.. but still no luck.
I have an application called Deja office I use for contact syncing as I use ACT contact database on my PC to maintain my contacts, and although I can assign photos to my contacts through that app, there is no editing capabilities when I do it that way.. no cropping, resizing, etc.. and the photos look like crap. Reason why I mention that is the app takes over the editing capabilities of contacts direct from the phone itself and I can't edit a contact through the normal samsung phone book.
But with that said... strange I can change any contact photo as long as it is taken by the phone itself via the camera gallery(s), and cannot with any other photo??
I searched for anyone having a similar issue.. and seem to be all alone? Anyone.. anyone??
Thanks!
Problem solved on my own...
Found out that the only contacts I could assign photos were one's also in my google contacts. Those that were set up just in Deja office would not allow me to edit photos.. period.
I synced all my contacts to google, ( didn't really wanna do that ), but merged them and combined duplicates and now I can update the contact photos.
If a mod wants to delete this thread.. go ahead. It might serve some purpose for those that use Deja Office though.
Cheers..
