Atrix HD gets Jellybean and were sitting here with nothing!

Perhaps you should go get an Atrix.
Being happy has very little to do with getting what you want, but a great deal to do with wanting what you have.
Why buy an LG phone and then be upset when your not first to get JellyBean? It's not this should come as a surprise.

yea thanks for the insight, meanwhile that has no bearing on my post, both samsung , LG and moto have released Jellybean yet the moto and samsung have it while our LG doesnt
Then get a phone with JB then come back to the LGOG when JB comes to this phone.
I don't understand why people are complaining about JB. It is not that fascinating. But feel free to annoy people with threads about AMG THIS PHONE HAS JB BEFORE OURS NOW TOO, while we sit here peacefully happy with what we got out of the box.

No one is offending you personally this is a forum for discussion on these things, about our phones. Its a phone not a kid stop getting so offended people
Despite great reviews people seem to treat this device like it's going to explode.

In all fairness I somewhat agree with the OP just like anybody would. You would EXPECT a phone with these specs to come out the box with jb. Especially sense the x+ has it out the box and similar specs. But what can you do? For the most part enjoy what you got! Most of the time you been running the latest android os on your device before its released official thanks to the great xda devs!
But also you don't know who is watching these threads, so all the fighting and drama queen on here not going to make somebody with the time and patience to think twice about getting or developing on this device...

Realistically the reason that LG didn't put JB on the LGOG is because they wanted to boost sales on the nexus 4.

It's like LG/AT&T/Google decided to kneecap and half-ass both devices. The Nexus has no extra storage or LTE, this has no JB or wireless charging. If they had merged it all into one phone, it would have been a beast and I promise you it would sell better than anything on the market. Every one wins. But they had to mess with the wet dream. Nope a dev on here can add bloatware in a few minutes code it properly in a few day day so I'm sure an entire team of programmers at at&t can do this fast enough. It's marketing on Googles behalf. ? Hmmm I don't know, maybe because it's not carrier branded, a clean-slate version of Android, and significantly cheaper to buy off-contract... Seems to me like there's still plenty of incentive to buy the N4 regardless if the OG has JB or not.
Whatever the reason, I really like this phone and am glad I bought it. However, unless things change before my contract is up, I'll avoid LG like the plague when choosing my next device. There is no reason anyone can give to me...to me... not anyone else, that in my mind justifies this piece of hardware not having official JB released for it by now. The work the developers are doing with one hand tied behind their back is awesome, but it shouldn't have to come to this. I'll vote with my dollars next time and go back to Samsung. It's a shame, too.
Like what has been mentioned and discussed ad nauseum since December, this device very well could have shipped with JB if they wanted it to. It most certainly could have been upgraded by now, especially with international versions of JB out. That tells me it is 100% AT&T who is holding this up.
Have a great weekend! Can't wait to see what the devs have cooked up!

ATT is probably too busy updating the note, note2, s3, one x, and all the other big selling devices. That said, looking at LG open source site there is only one device showing more than one os update, and that was froyo to gingerbread to ice cream sandwich. So jellybean will probably be the end of official updates for this phone.
Hint's the reason to why I swtched from this to the note 2 plus the fact that it's just a sweet ass phone lol so smooth n fast has a better pic to than the LG sound is better everything is lol Lg just sucks on upgrading there stuff that's all it really is Stuiped SOB's lmao

In this case it's AT&T. If our developers can reverse engineer a hack to convert this to an N4, the mfg could have put JB on this device with the schematics and kernel files in their possession from day one. There are no two ways about it, simple as that. I mean they built both phones at the same time with almost identical specs for crying out loud..

Google shouldn't have anything to do with us not seeing an update, just like how the N4 users aren't thanking LG for their updates.

Patience is key. You can't force a dev to make a ROM or "develop" for a device. They have lives as well. Everything is pretty close to being here.
Besides if your not likening the "Development" you can always try and make a ROM buddy. Then maybe you can see how its not done overnight.

@Phonephan, I totally hear where you're coming from. I would have hoped for more options by now as well, but I knew what I was getting into when I picked this bad boy up and that there was the chance its potential would go unrealized. However, Rome wasn't built in a day and there have been some unique challenges that some very good developers are about to overcome. Our empire is about to be built! We've already got a solid JB build that doesn't require conversion thanks to SnowLeopardJB. There are a couple solid ICS ROM's as well (shout out to team nocturnal, nygfan, etc.) The real treats are just around the corner and if you check in to the irc chat room you will see just how close. Hang in there bro, you'll be glad you did.

Funny to think that just a few years ago modifying the OS on your phone was not an option. Now folks cry when they don't have 100 variations of the same base rom within a week or two.
Maybe buy a device you like next time. Or wait longer and not buy the device on launch day, that way you can give the dev community time to work thereby ensuring you get an active community to take care of your flashing fix.
Why exactly do you feel the need to tell us that you're leaving? Did you do any development? Write any documentation? Are you afraid we wouldn't notice you were gone?
Sent from my LG-E970
Seriously!? We have an ICS phone that developers have transformed into an upgraded nexus 4. Other developers have domesticated foreign JB Roms so well that this phone has every feature enabled today. We may only have a few topics... But major progress happens in them. This is the height of Android options with native pure Google and branded on the most recent versions.
You can install Roms from 3 forums onto this phone... US OG, Intl OG and N4.
The conversion will really pay off in six months when this is the first device with SD card and full android 5 while every other phone has gmail 5... Converted to 4.1
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2
Okay...
Didn't see that coming. If you look at my post I said I'm possibly getting a new phone not telling you I am and I was asking people if they felt the same. Also it's been months since its release so the fact that it's only 2 real ROMs for this phone makes me upset no, disrespect to devs obviously but it does seem like this phone is getting like no attention and it's one if the best phones out. Converting to n4 is a bit too much just to enjoy this phone. This phone was meant to be an LGOG not a nexus ..it would have been named nexus
Anyways that was just a thought/concern I had about the phone.. Don't see why people are offended?
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Nobody bothered to develop ICS Roms other than pretty much stock based ones since we were promised Jelly Bean so early and obviously that didn't happen. Once Jelly Bean gets officially released, I know the devs will be all over it and Roms won't be an issue. The nexus 4 conversion is easy to do, I did it intoxicated twice. So either do that or just be patient. We're just waiting on AT&T now

It is unsure at this point.
From the link in the OP.
All with nary a word from The Now Network, which is usually pretty on top of announcing updates for devices. Ergo, at this point, we're not entirely sure if this is the start of a full-on rollout or just a "soak test" of sorts. We're thinking the former, but until official word is muttered from the lips of Sprint, it's a crapshoot.

Guys, you've got to remember that us, the people on XDA, arent the majority. Most people don't know what jellybean is and if they do they couldn't tell you the difference in jelly bean and ICS. As the One X on our beloved AT&t received 4.1 today, I take it as a sign we too shall receive it!
In 8 to 10 business months.
This was meant as a stress relief exercise. Please do not over exert from laughter.
Also, I know many out there hate stock with a passion. Let's keep this thread free of angry insults and hurled accusations. Thank ya much.

AT&T wont release jelly bean for LGOG til the pro comes out. they want people to buy a new device and renew their contracts with the pro. less people would with LGOG having jelly bean.
Personally, I don't think AT&T cares what devices are out, they make their money on contracts, not devices.

I personally don't agree with this.
The vast majority of consumers don't know what version of android is on what device.
They won't even know.
And it shouldn't matter what device people buy, as long as they extend their contracts.
Also, stock isn't too bad on this phone.
I seriously could not care less when we have a ROM that's pretty much exactly what the stock update is going to be with SnowJB. Plus we've got AOSP, AOKP, and CM10 on the way. Not to mention The Base and other ROMs I'm neglecting to mention. If you're on XDA you likely don't need an official Jellybean release. I'm not a huge fan of this news being posted all over. We have better updates than what will ever come out. Who cares?

Cmon, buddy. Didn't you just ask to have a nearly identical thread closed?

Sprint is rolling out the 4.1 update to their LGOG now.

I care. Official release means official source. Snowjb is great but official release would be better

I thought they had 6 months to release official source once they put out an update...

This one was meant to be more of a joke thread, as I stated earlier. I was being sarcastic. I was poking fun at the earlier thread.

... And wasn't there a problem with the source code being released in a manner that was difficult to work with?

I don't know any android user that doesn't know what version of android is on their device. I can think of atleast 20 people. Most people are educated enough these days to know what they have and what newer version is out. They may not know how to root or modify like my sister but she does know when her iPhone doesn't have the newest iOS.

Then it seems most of my acquaintances... are not super bright.
But in all honesty, the everyday consumer really doesn't know. With Android so fragmented and most devices hardly receiving updates, I can think of a lot of people I know that don't know. They aren't tech people, they just want a smartphone.
I've had to walk friends through getting to the about phone settings just so they could find out what version they were on.
On iOS devices, everybody (or just about) has the latest update available to them; and even then, they really don't know what the hell is going on.
It is amazing how many people out there don't know much of anything about technology, and have no idea what their devices are capable of.
who needs att to release jb when snowjb is already here and its wonderfully debloated!

The fact that sprint is releasing right now but it seems that att isn't even close has me fuming. I know there are great releases out there but I'm just mad because it seems that att doesn't care at all

How long did it take att to release an update for the LG Thrill? That might be a good guesstimate for the Optimus G...
Took them 8 mo from the release of the one x (July to march) for this JB.
I also like to use my Inspire as an example. Promised Jellybean, and it was a giant no-show. Thank god for our Devs.

Funny thing is, neither AT&T nor HTC said ICS was coming to the Inspire, only HTC said it then retracted it for the Desire HD, international version.
Such a mess these updates are.

It's clear from what we've seen from other carriers around the world, that the lack of official Jellybean is totally on AT&T. I love this phone, but it looks like the only way to keep current is to depend on our devs and with brand new shiny coming out very soon I suspect we will lose quite a few of them. I realize brand new shiny phones are always coming out, but the next crop of devices are slated to be real power houses.

I do...I'm over flashing ROM's that have half working features or the occasional bug that causes my phone to reboot in the middle of a game or phone call.
