It's the digitizer assembly, not the actual LCD Screen. it's what goes on top.
What he said.
But do you know if your actual screen is broke, or just the digitizer.

My screen is shattered from a drop. It works still without any problems. Would this be what I need to fix it? If so, I'm in for $100.

It probably is all you need if the lcd is still working, however my experience on older htc phones is that they are always very difficult to put in despite what the seller says. Often the lcd gets broken while separating the broken touch screen. The best way is to get a unit of BOTH the lcd and the touch screen digitizer-an assembly- already together. That will still be pretty difficult to do so don't expect less. Won't be long till a bunch of parts phones start surfacing on ebay and screen prices drop.

A few days ago I took my Motorola RAZR out of my pocket to see a whole load of cracks across the screen, not the glass, but below it. The screen no longer works but the phone is on etc...
Because its a problem with the screen Motorola say I have no warranty and it will have to be sent off before I get a price.
Just wondering if anybody else has had this happen to their RAZR?

If you see this defects in very low (and black or very black colors) brightness condition its normal in some RAZRR, Motorola says that it doesnt affect the user experience and they dont change your screen.

I find this strange as my XT910 has suffered multiple beatings and falls and nothing has been affected. If you need a new AMOLED/digitizer, it might be worth it to get it online (about $200+) and installing it yourself (many YouTube guides available).

In cases like that Motorola will assume you dropped it and treat it as abuse until such time as it is demonstrated to be otherwise. This has been documented a few times (several of which were on these forums)- it seems to be a consequence of flexing or other structural stress compounded by the fact that the phone's internals are both quite thin and very densely packed.
If your phone doesn't look to have been abused (normal wear and tear only) they will most likely waive any charges. The most you're out of pocket should be $200 or so if they have to charge you to fix it.
If you're familiar with phone repair you may try doing it yourself, but the RAZR uses a ton of glue and can be tricky to get apart. I would at least try sending it in first- if they're asking too much you can always have it sent back unrepaired.
Hi,
Do anyone have experience with a broken screen on a Samsung Galaxy s3?
I dropped my phone and it cracked, now the LCD is black and doesnt show anything.
I can still hear email notifications etc.
Is this just a LCD problem or is it MB problem.
sucks to buy a repair kit to 250 dollar if it doesnt work
Thanks :fingers-crossed:
Most probably the screen is too defective to show anything.
From this symptom however it's not possible to determine anything - but a totally broken screen is more probable than the motherboard.
Btw it is not an Lcd

I would say instead of buying repair kit for $$250 just try try to sell your S3 to get a new one .You can easily sell it on swppa or ebay .According to this price report http://www.movaluate.com/samsung/galaxy-s-iii-verizon-blue you can still get $200.00 for your s3 even in NON FUNCTIONAL condition .
here is a video i made of the process of replacing the cracked screen. it will help a lot. 3

yes, it will
Unlike most other phones, the S3 screen is bonded to the gorilla glass - crack the glass and you crack the screen, which is why a cracked glass costs $200+ to replace - you are buying a new amoled screen as well. Buy the new screen (or get a service centre to do it) and invest in a book-cover styled case. (has a cradle for the phone and a stiff cover for the screen side)
@duoblade - the 'contrast' material? Do you mean the screen is fading or are you getting some kind of ooze coming out of the phone? Bit puzzled...
Some problem
I have the some problem but what I want to know is, can can I control it through my pc/Lenox, so I can use it was a mini pc

Buy a new phone .
My wife dropped her Rezound and smashed the screen. After purchasing and installing the screen it works, but not always. It seems to get random screen taps towards around the first quarter of the screen so it is always canceling what she is doing or typing extra letters when she is typing. I've taken it apart a couple more times to inspect it and it seems like all is connected soundly. Any idea on how to fix this?
Many thanks!
You can never be sure with 3rd party replacement LCDs and digitizers.
Greys right I bought a third party digitizer for I'm incredible and I seemed like some spots just didn't touch right, also you need to make sure there's nothing pinching the wire ribbon and its in strait, that could cause these problems as well. Hope this helps, remember always go OEM, batteries, screens, digatizers.. these components are made to a certain standard by HTC that third party manufacturers don't care about.

Thanks for the advice. However when I power off the screen, and press on the digitizer and turn it back on it seems to work better for a while. Might there be a loose connection I'm missing?
Where's the best place to buy an OEM digitizer?
Thanks again!
I'm not sure if you can buy an OEM digitizer.
Only from an old unused rezound as far as I know..

i have the same issue on a digitizer for my rezound. i have to turn the screen off and back on to fix it.
(TL;DR version below) I have a BADLY cracked Rezound, which fell from my backpocket when I was taking my pants out of gym class and hit it smack right on the screen. I've looked for signs of a cracked LCD, I've never actually seen a phone with a cracked LCD, only digitizer, and I don't see any 'leaking' colors or discoloration, any dead pixels or anything, it's just a normal cracked phone. However, sometimes when I try to text, message, or write something, some of the buttons (Often the N and G button) doesn't work and it always presses the button next to them, I have to turn it in landscape mode for me to press the N and G buttons, but other buttons doesn't work, so it led me to the conclusion that certain parts of the screen does not respond. However, very rarely does the phone work perfectly, if not for the cracked screen, I can press every button just fine, and the phone doesn't press buttons by itself.
What does this mean? Does this mean the LCD is damaged? as far as I know, weird color display is the only symptom of LCD damage...will getting the digitizer fixed solve these problems?
TL;DR: Some parts of the screen do not work most of the time, phone presses button by itself, will replacing digitizer fix it?
If you have the insurance option and pay the 100 dollar deductible take it because I have read other posts were they have tried a replacing the digitizer and something else would go wrong like a burnt 4G card.

Nope, don't have any insurance, the Rezound is my second phone, with the original Motorola Droid being my 1st, and I have never dropped it so I was in over my head when I bought my rezound D: so is that a yes, that I need to replace my LCD, along with my digitizer??

Should not. If the display is clear with no lines or colors fading, digitizer is all you need.

Digitizer is all he would need, but would recommend replacing them both as a whole. Makes the process much easier, and isn't that much more expensive ($60 on eBay for a LCD + digitizer assembly). Don't have to worry about dust getting trapped under the digitizer when replacing it.
Within having this phone about 5days I tripped over the charger and my phone flipped over, upon picking it up I didn't notice it at first but there is a small I wouldn't say Crack, but it's like a slit going from the middle of the Verizon logo, down to the right of the phone. It's about one inch.. When looking at my phone It is not noticeable unless I slant it. Now I'm thinking about getting a new screen and this time a case.. I just would like help finding the right scren for this phone. I only need the plastic front screen. Unless I will need a whole new digitizer set. Sigh..

if i remember correctly you'll need to get the set - i believe the screen is glued to the digitizer and is nearly impossible to remove.
there is a tear-down (disassembly) thread here -
