I dont know why it is with these newer model phones, but just from the suggestion posts that came up when i entered the title of this thread, but My LGOT and i guess even the G2 have an issue where dusts starts to build up under the sceen....
Ive only had my phone for a little over 2 weeks, but even after the first couple days, i noticed that there were already a few trickles of dirt right around the middle of my screen.
I guess my main question is, is there anything i can do about this, has anyone had the same troubles, and what can we do to prevent this from happening?
In Thailand this is general problem of LG Optimus One
you should contact LG Customer support
they'll open your phone and blow dust out
if dust cause touchscreen malfunction they'll change new one for you
some people guess that dust already in the phone due to assembly process from factory
some guess maybe dust go through usb port
I have my phone since 2 days and i already have a dust spot in the lower right corner. This is annoying! If this spot is growing i will contact the costumer support.

I am working on dusty area, but no dust under screen. Phone is 1 month old.
Me I have not this problem, but remains me the same issue with the iPhone 2/3 (google iphone dust screen).
I think it's a common problem with capacitive screen, but no "easy" solutions to fix it...
poor construction quality, imho.

this is one of those instances where a really cheap phone shows its faults. the phone is free on contract and little of $200 without. with it being so incredibly cheap, there is going to be something wrong that causes concern.
Im okay with it happening as long as it gets fixed and the problem is acknowledged by both LG and the phone carriers. it seems like many people are having this problem at the moment and T-Mobile is willing to exchange it in store, so good on them for being considerate.
i have the same issue. Don't know how to prevent that

Same Here! Very annoying because the phone is less than one week old!
I actually have not this problem my device is now over 2 weeks old. Maybe it depends on the area you are or temp.? ect...

No dust here either. I have a silicon case, I don't think it helps very much.
just disassemble it. There is no warranty seal. You'll find the dust inbetween the lcd screen and the capacitive overlay.

Hi! please tell us how to do it!
I too have this problem Can any one please let us know how to get rid of it.
I have the same problem with my Optimus One, dust is starting to gather on the right bottom corner and it seems to have increased since the first time I saw it. I've thought about buying a can of compressed air and trying to blow it near the edge of the screen but maybe that will just make it spread even further.
I've also thought about unscrewing the screws on the back panel of the phone and clean it but I'm afraid that it will affect the capacitive screen in some way making it less responsive and that after I assemble it back together it'll become even less air tight and thus accumulate even more dust.
Maybe I'll reclaim my warranty but I'll have to un-root my phone and wipe it clean before leaving it at the store and it's going to be a pain in the ass to reinstall everything when it returns.
Will they replace the mobile for this problem?
You can back up everything by titanium backup and copy the titanium backup folder from sd to your pc or pen drive. In your newly replaced phone you can copy back this folder to sd card and after installing titanium backup application you can restore everything.

Wow, DUST really get into the phone and I thought I was the only person experiencing this... actually it's on the "RIGHT BOTTOM PART" as posted S3nd41 and probably half of the users here has this problem....
Hey,
I know there is a similar thread to this but I just can't find it. Sorry guys.
Well let me tell the problem. After removing the backcover a few times I find that the backcover started to make squish sounds. Sounds come off from somewhere in middle of right side between volume and video button. It is clear that something has broken but can't figure out what. Issue seems to come from the backcover scratching the bezel. This makes me for the first time think about letting my amaze go. Tell me what you think please.
Cheers
I have that same noise..its frustrating..i just got this phone not longer than 3 weeks..

This issue was already stated. Have you done a search? There is a quick solution, but for me it went away after some time.

Fold a thin piece of paper and place it on top of battery. Then pop back cover on. Problem solved.

Try This:
Take out the phone from the battery cover, Now push the white locking tab inwards while putting the battery cover back on, it makes a huge difference for me.
Hope the same for you, let me know if it helped.

I thinly cut up some command strips (only peeled off one side) and put them on the back cover near the spots the noise was coming from. Took 7 but it feels much more solid now and no noise.

Man this phone is awesome bit it has so many issues
1. Capacitive buttons lights leak to the screen
2. Camera flash also bleeds into pictures
3. A dead pixel
4. The backcover noise
5. Lack of full support from htc
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Don't know how valid this is because I use a tight case. But someone said to put it in a cold place, like a garage or outside or even the refrigerator. His argument was that the case would shrink and while small you could fit it back on.

If you take the back cover off and you look on the back just to the top left corner of the battery there is a small spring loaded contact. If you look at the corresponding area inside of the back cover you will see a small mark on the aluminum where it is rubbing (on the inside about half way down from the bottom of the volume rocker and the top of the camcorder button).
It seems like too much of a coincidence that there is a spring loaded bearing in the exact area causing the squeaking and that not be part of the issue.
Does anyone know if that is an electrical contact like some of the other ones on the top half of the phone?

Pretty sure they are the contacts for the phone antenna. The manual warns that the phone antenna are built into the back cover and to make sure that the cover is on tightly to receive proper phone and data signal. Might want to be careful of these with paper or command strips when making the cover fit!

1,4,5 are the biggest problems. Think this is the last HTC phone I'm going to buy ...so what's next?
Samsung ...no way ..cheap plastic phones
LG - same as above but with some extra crap
Moto - seems like a good choice but limited support as well
Sony - are they ever going to release a high end phone?

My HTC EVO 3D's screen is getting worse and worse seemingly after the last OS update to version 4.1.1 from HTC. I think it's software related because it doesn't happen all the time and turning the screen off for a few seconds makes it go away for a little while and there have been no significant drops of the phone. Factory reset didn't help. The phone is not rooted.
Here's a 15 sec video clip so you can see what I mean:
plus.google.com/u/0/106879723793109771975/posts/jmp9YEuEVoz
(this is my first post so I don't get to embed a link to an outside page)
Those white dots show "touches" that the screen is registering. Anyone have any ideas what I should do? This Rogers phone is over a year old, so Rogers won't replace it and I don't think HTC will now either.
I don't have a screen protector on either.
So, screen protector is not the problem. No huge impacts with the screen too.
Guessing a digitizer issue. I'd take it for repair.

These digitizers are notoriously bad... I've been through 4. Three were refurbished though
Sent from my PG86100
Where did you get 4.1.1 update?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Fully agree, Digi is the issue. Take it to your mobile provider for them to look at it... explain to them about you possibly think its the Digi and they will take it in.
Failing that, HTC direct will beable to help
But how do you got official 4.1.1??
He's mistaken. He meant ICS.
Well, that's funny! The EVO I sent back that I got on launch day, since it was a few months old did that at the bottom. The replacement does that at the top, now I've seen it on the right side. Maybe the replacement that's coming this week will do it on the left!
Yep, sounds like a bad digitizer to me. I replaced one about three months ago, and this one is going out, now. First one I picked up was cheap with "tools" and some adhesive. I just ordered another from Amazon, that's supposedly from HTC, for a little more $$$. I guess I'll see how that one goes. Usually can find them for less than 20, and combos (digitizer and LCD) for about 60.
There are threads that detail how to replace them, and videos on you tube. Not hard, if I can do it, just take your time and follow the instructions.

It's the digitizer assembly, not the actual LCD Screen. it's what goes on top.
What he said.
But do you know if your actual screen is broke, or just the digitizer.

It probably is all you need if the lcd is still working, however my experience on older htc phones is that they are always very difficult to put in despite what the seller says. Often the lcd gets broken while separating the broken touch screen. The best way is to get a unit of BOTH the lcd and the touch screen digitizer-an assembly- already together. That will still be pretty difficult to do so don't expect less. Won't be long till a bunch of parts phones start surfacing on ebay and screen prices drop.
Does anyone else get a weird halo if they push on their screen or on the back of the phone too hard? I can actually launch widget placement by pressing on the back left side of the phone. T
I would take it in to get a replacement. I had this problem with a DX and I couldn't figure out what it was. It turns out the battery was damaged and it swelled up and was putting pressure on the screen. Since you can't just swap out the batteries in these I would take it in.

I just want to bump this up, as i feel this is a serious problem for the DNA... i too had this thing happen with my 3 week old DNA.
If you press half way down the screen and below you can see a rainbow discoloration happening on either left or right side of the screen(similar to when pressing the old school calculators display). I checked a coworkers DNA and his is doing it too. I then called VZ yesterday morning and i was 2 days out of my 14 day period but they did the exception of switching it for a new one. I got the new one at the store i bought it from and the new one is doing it too...
To do this test press about 3/4 of the way down on the display, bring up this page in your phone so you can see the discoloration.
The first 3 week old phone had done it for so long that it left a black shadowy print on my screen (similar to a burnt display) I will be calling VZ back this morning to see what they can do, since from what i was told by tier 2 is that they have no record of this problem being reported.
First DNA came with the old Software, and the new DNA has the latest installed.
You must be pressing pretty Damn hard because mine doesn't do that when I use it.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
It's not an issue, any screen will do this, it's just how screens work. There's absolutely no reason to be pressing hard enough for this to be an issue.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Just got mine 3 days ago and just tried this on whole screen and no where can I get this to happen and I'm applying a lot of pressure. It is in a otterbox defender case though so maybe it's keeping it from flexing but I doubt it.

Yea he has to be squeezing hard. I had to apply over 5 lbs of pressure(give or take ofc) to get the liquid crystal to move. Made my feet sweat a lil. This guys a nut.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
this is a common problem. ever hear of the blue haze and dots? it was prevalent with anyone who uses the holster shell.... it squeezed too hard on the sides and created a blue haze of screen discoloration. my first dna had it and I didn't even use the holster shell. I think it was from keeping it on my pockets when I sat down.. I never did screen in, and with the rounded back, it was pushing pressure on the edges which causes this... doing that overtime messed the screen up. just Google blue haze dna or something and you'll see tons of threads with pics. it really sucked. there's a soft spot on the back of every dna, it was just a design flaw. wonder if the one has it?
