Well I am currently running ELEGANCIA 4.1 ( ATT ) and i was wondering if i need to do a full system wipe to upgrade, or if it was possible just to upgrade the changes?
The 4.2 Version

If anyone knows, please let me know. Also if would be my first update, is there anything I should know before I do it?

This is precisely why you are not allowed to post there right away.... If you read the thread and instructions it says that Steve will clearly state if one is needed. If you go through the final pages you can see he clearly states it should not be needed.

well i have noticed that, other threads with custom roms post the update details on the main page. Just havnt seen it with this one, and I would rather not have to format the whole sd card just to update a few things.

I can't post in the dev section either, I'm new here. How many post do I need before being allowed to post in dev threads?

You should never have to format the SD card to install or update a ROM. All custom recoveries I know of are capable of wiping the entire /data partition except /data/media (this is where your HOX+ "SD card" is located) when the Factory Reset/Wipe Data option is selected. So I wouldn't worry about that in the future.

Thanks for any help.

On bootable sdcards I find boot, flashing_boot, MLO, u-boot.bin. What I would like to know in what order are they initiated. Also what is each called. example: xxxxxx.xxx = ramdisk. I hope this is clear enough.
Ah okay. I wasn't sure if you needed help getting an sdcard set up or not.
I'd check the thread for CM7 in development if you haven't yet, possibly post the question if there's no answer here and pop into IRC and ask if you want.

yes, if you have the kernel source. Right now we have GB kernel source, but no ICS kernel source, so it won't work on ICS yet
yes, i want it for Gingerbread kernel, how can i do it? for stock kernel for example

Dodova's GB kernel has it built in. He is working on a different site now (I think infected Rom). I think it is still incorporated into Mean Rom, so you could extract it from there.

I see. So you need to find the source code for the gsm version of the kernel and then read up on how to add support. I have no idea how, but good luck.

That was annoying for me too. You have six, so you can reply to this post thanking me for one more (and hit Thanks too). Then, go to the themes section and make a few productive comments about someone's theme/screenshots (how they are great and why) or help others in the Q&A. Once your ten posts are confirmed, you can post a new thread.
Hi there.
I've recently installed a custom rom (venom Rom). And after the install I've noticed my internal memory available space got low. I dont know if this is normal. Maybe my old stock Rom is still on my internal? I've only wiped cache and factory resettled my phone before the installation of the custom firmware.
My media files are minimal and the "other" type eating up my memory has 8gig.
What can I do to regain my full internal memory.
Thank you xda dev.
What ROM did you come from? Were you stock?

Reason I ask is if you upgrade from a 4.1.1 rom to a 4.2.2 rom or 4.3 rom your storage changes from sdcard0 to something else. Android adds another directory so a lot of your data is duplicated. There are LOTS of threads discussing this issue so you will likely find your answer easily.

So ive been looking for a updated root for the sm-g530p. I cant seem to find anything other than a root that has a really old kernel.
If anyone knows anything comment below, thanks
I don't know if this helps or if your issue has been solved already, but I have a kernel called TrapKernel. Just look it up, download it on your computer, then flash through Odin. It is the best I know of. Also, if your issue is battery life, download "Root Booster" and buy the premium version of Battery Boost. It is well worth the cost

I ended up unrooting my phone because I don't have time to fix it if anything is to go wrong. I am starting my first job and also college soon..
But when I get on top of things I will come back on here. Maybe they'll have an OFFICIAL TWRP available for SM-G530P. Sorry to leave you hanging; I meant to comment again

I also noticed there IS now a TWRP on the TWRP website for SM-G530P. My phone is being stupid about recovery so I just gave up and unrooted when the official MD5 did not work

Could i get a link? Sorry sorta new to this.
Also do I use Odin?
Will i be able to make calls and texts on my current carrier.
I soon as i know i will root.
****RESEARCH FOR YOURSELF LIKE WE ALL HAD TO**** UNTIL YOU KNOW HOW TO INSTALL AND USE ADB ON YOUR PC AND KNOW BASIC ADB COMMANDS, ESPECIALLY REBOOT COMMANDS, DO NOT TRY ROOTING AT ALL.
After rooting, research TWRP and install it for your device- it is available on the twrp website and linked on other forums in XDA. THEN read about how to make NANDROID backups in TWRP. Also buy the pro versions of titanium backup pro, root booster (in-app purchases for getti g the full version),and es file explorer pro from the Play Store. Trust me, you will thank me later a lot. And even without root Nova Launcher Prime is the bomb (so is es file explorer pro)
I have a lot on my mind and schedule rn and don't have time to teach people (no offense)
You don't even need to ask unless you have a technical issue on XDA threads anyway as there are TONS of forums explaining everything step by step for android and rooting. Just make sure to never use anything from XDA unless it's labeled for your exact device model, even if it's only like one letter off (such as SM-G530H). ONLY SM-G530P OR YOU WILL REGRET IT; I'M SPEAKING OUT OF EXPERIENCE
