App that displays the time and weather with screen on constantly? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive got a cheap Android phone laying around and figured Id make use of it somehow.
Is there an app out there that will leave the screen on while plugged in that displays the time and weather and maybe other things?

I dunno if there is something like that, but you can do this:
Go to Settings -> Applications -> Development, and check "Stay Awake".
Then, install some widget (or various) that display the info you need :highfive:

[Q] Can you turn off the 'unplug charger' message? [SOLVED]

When I unplug from the charger I get a notification saying "to save energy also unplug the charger' or something. Apart from being wrong, it's really annoying.
Anyone know if you can disable it? I can't find a way

It can be because I've done it, but can't remember how. I think I turned the charger off in liveware manager

I already have it disabled but it still happens.
EDIT: I just tried freezing LiveWare Manager with Titanium and it still came up! Seems to be something else entirely that is doing it.
EDIT2: Found it. There is an app called com.sonyericsson.unplugchargerreminder 6.0.A.8 (12582920) which I just froze with Titanium and that got rid of it. I'll make sure it doesn't break anything else then uninstall it.

Yes I do, go into the 'settings' menu, then into the 'apps', inside the apps scroll sideways to 'all apps' then scroll down to 'com.sonyerricsson.unplugcharger' then uncheck the 'show notifications' box on the xperia Z but on the Xperia S use the 'disable' option as there isn't a 'notification' box. ALL DONE!
NOTE: the handset does NOT have to be rooted to be able to do this. x
I too got cheesed off with this notification on my xperia S and xperia Z. HAVE A NICE DAY !

Battery protection app for JB

The developer threads seem to indicate that there is a danger running JB of 'bricking" the TP if the battery is allowed to discharge all the way. It is suggested that an app like "Battery Check" should be used to turn off the TP when the battery reaches a set percentage charge.
My problem is that I'm not sure "Battery Check" is working on my TP. The only "setting" I see when I run it is a slide bar for setting the percent of charge. But when I set the bar, and tap "Launch Service", the app exits. I'm assuming that it is now set to turn off when it reaches what I set. The problem is that my assumption could be wrong and being wrong could "brick" my TP. A chance I'm NOT willing to take.
Can anyone verify that "Battery Check" works and that I've set it up properly? Does it actually turn off the TP, or just "sound an alarm" that I'm likey to miss if I'm asleep?

Turning off the TP isn't listed as an "Action" to take when the "trigger" (battery below) is reached.

Do you have a version # for your Automateit app. My screen looks like that but there is no "Shutdown" option. I solved the problem by installing "Power Off" and having Automateit call that app as the "Action". That worked.
Thanks

This is weird. There was no shutdown option when I created the first "rule". But, now, if I go back to add another rule, the Shutdown action IS available. And my version is the same as yours.

Go figure, I am glad you finally got it sorted and trust the screen shots helped. You now shouldn't have to worry about a bricked tablet but I would still shutdown if you are not going to use it or are going out etc .
i had that problem too. something to do with some actions requiring root like shutdown, but i don't remember but i enabled it somehow. check settings and look for enabling root options maybe.
When I installed AutomateIt on my TB, I was asked to confirm root access for the app.

Preventing the phone from killing background apps

Hi, this may have been asked before, but I can't seem to find a straight answer for it:
I've got a Huawei Mate 10 Pro. The damn phone keeps killing apps running in the background, no matter how I configure the "Launch" menu. Is there any way to prevent the phone from killing apps running in the background? Even the 'Lock' button on the apps in the app manager screen doesn't prevent that from happening!
It's worth mentioning that my phone is not rooted, nor is going to be any time soon, since it seems so much riskier to root this phone than it is with other phones.
.......delet.....
Go to settings - battery - launch and find the app you don't want to be terminated then change to manual mode(ensure that you enable the 3 options especially run in background)
Or go to special access - ignore Battery optimization - select all apps then scroll to the app you want not to be terminated, tap on it, select allow then click OK and exit

Screen density & Notification icons

Moved over from Samsung S8 and I'm mightily impressed. Just a few tweaks I'd like... The screen density seemed better on my S8, I could make text smaller.
Is there a way to hide the Bluetooth and NFC icons without turning them actually off? Without root.
Thanks
I'm testing system UI tuner right now which lets you turn on and off system icons but I need the Mate 20 Pro USB drivers to test.
Edit: The only system icon it seems to allow you to disable is the wifi one. Everything else stays. Probably need someone with a bit more understanding to see why they won't disable.
Edit 2: Even the built in demo mode tuner doesn't work so I've no idea whats going on lol.

I've managed to get rid of all but the time, battery and mobile data in system ui tuner. It just requires a restart after you turn them off. Bit of a pain that the mobile data stays on the left though as I'd love them all on the right and left for notifications.

Install minimal adb and fast boot here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=2317790
Turn on developer settings and then turn on USB debugging. (go to Settings > About phone > Build number tap it lots until you get a popup, then in about phone you will have developer settings)
Download system ui tuner from the app store.
Open minimal adb and connect your phone to pc.
Type in adb devices and hit enter, it should show a device connected.
Open up system ui tuner and go through the setup to input the commands into adb.
Turn what you want off and restart your phone.

Prevent MiUi from closing app in background

I use snaptube a lot and sometimes it has a list of queued downloads. However even when I am using phone and browsing the MiUi closes it
I have , as in other phones set "No restrictions" under
Settings >> Apps >> Manage apps >> Snaptube >> permissions >> battery saver
Am I missing other setting ?

did you try turning on 'Autostart'?
Also, you can try 'locking' it. After opening the app, go to app viewer (the one where you chose and close apps), long press it, and press press on the lock symbol.
Hope it helps.
I haven't been able to find a fix apart from moving to a custom ROM, fixed all the issue I had with MIUI.
So far the lock thing appears to be working..
How did you found about it ? I had no idea it existed

Long pressing a window just takes me to the app info
MIUI is so rediculous it can't even keep the settings app running on background after changing to another light app
I'm on 12.0.17 on redmi 9A
hi nordinb6, yes it is.
now the instructions were for the previous MUI version, on version 12.0.2.0 :
Settings > Apps > System App settings > Security > Boost Speed > Lock Apps
add you application there, you will see a locker near the title after. The other optimization still apply.
also, mess around those settings, they are very important do disable some rubish.
hope it solves you issues!
