[Q] Verizon Bootloader Removal after jailbreak? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Okay here is a noob question..
Couldnt find anything about it
my note2 was on stock verizon rom i followed the instruction video everything went just FINE.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118348
I successfully got TWRP (i think thats the way you say it). I never used TWRP before, but it works. I wiped cache to try and it worked.
The problem is, I STIll HAVE THE ANIMATED verizon boot logo thingy.
I do not know how to get rid of it, can somebody please explain it clearly, kind a step by step maybe?
Oh also i got superuser, downloaded lind2sd app, tried to delete some bloatware, it worked.
So what am i missing?
thank you! (please help!)

There's nothing wrong. You're still on a stock ROM so you still have the stock boot animation. You are unlocked and rooted though. To get rid of it just flash a custom ROM

Well, yeah some people are just like that.
You just can not know everything from birth...

You guys are too sensitive. I didn't say anything mean. Just said I laughed. Want a tissue? as you can see I'm joking yet again.
I laughed because I saw myself in his post back when I first used android 4 or so years ago. Seriously meant no harm. Sorry if it sounded offensive

Flashed new ROM now.....

I realize that I'm a big fan of Bi-Winning! After a bootloader scare with SimplyRC3.3. I sure am glad to have my friends here @ XDA to leave me breadcrumbs (pit and tar files) so that I can find my way back to stock.
You had a bootloader scare with Simply Galaxy? Not possible. That's a 100% Vibrant port/version with the loader of our phone, there's zero chance you would run into such a deal if you indeed flashed that rom.

Lol...didn't earlier versions have a bootloader flash? I'm unsure, was a while ago.
@ OP: Glad you are good to go now then.

Dunno about earlier versions but he specifically said rc3.3 which is "new".
Ah. Well bootloaders are serious. I'd imagine Abu-71bash is correct because if you had a problem with a bootloader, your phone would likely be a brick.
You probably had a different problem that you thought was a bootloader issue.
My man has one post guys, ha.
Dont mind those guys. Its great you got yourself back on your feet. And welcome to the community. There are plenty of great goodies to be had.

What the hell are you talking about? "We guys" simply pointed out he didn't have a bootloader issue and that if he indeed had that, simply Galaxy wasn't the reason.

GT-I9100 or SGH-I777

So I bought my phone striaght out the AT&T store and I have heard repeatedly that the AT&T version of the Galaxy S II is the SGH-777 but when I boot my phone it always says GT-I9100....is there a difference? And if so does that mean I should be using a different forum to get my ROMs? Thanks for answering my question in advance and for any help provided.

I9100 is the international version of the SGSII. If you bought it new in the U.S. it should be an i777. If it has been flashed it could have an i9100 ROM on it, but if you got it from an AT$T store I doubt that's the case.

Was your phone sealed in the box or refurbished?
Sent from my A500 using xda premium
Sounds like he somehow got a device from the store that had a custom kernel flashed on it... Same question, is there a big yellow triangle?
Was this a refurb?
Yep, sounds like someone messed with this phone before! I'd take it back and exchange it!
I dont believe stores can sell refurbished phones, only online can sell them. Either someone in AT&T was messing around with a phone and flashed a custom rom on it, or somehow an international version got slipped in... but the box would have to be a blue/white/orange box with AT&T on it.
Weird.

I'm curious about this. lol
Yea I bought it brand new with my upgrade straight from AT&T. Lol I think I know the issue tho...I don't exactly remember what it was like stock but I've since flashed a ROM on it from this forum, maybe that explains it. I could have sworn that it always said I9100 but truthfully I might not have noticed it til after I flashed.

Before rooting my phone for the 1st time, I read the entire FAQ and knew that if I used methods that tripped the flash counter I would get the caution mark boot screen.
Your first post makes it seem like your phone came rooted from the store, when that wasn't the case.

Exactly. It's not hard to read the FAQ.
It's worse to mislead us all by making us thing your device came like this from the store.
What do you expect from someone who uses "y'all" in print.
Stupid is forever.
holy crap. I just looked at his attatched image he put up earlier in the thread and the build number says "ICS'd Out" V9 or whatever. That would have given it away. I guess none of us looked at it closely. LOL

Ron White - "You cant fix stupid!"

Razor recovery does not work with the OV.

It doesn't make proper backups, and it doesn't load boot.Img. on old backups, which makes it pretty much worthless. If you have had any luck feel free to chime in, but I strongly don't recommended using it.
Edit: it works for some people
Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk
Works fine for me, but why not go over to Rootzwiki and tell him?
Some other people are having the same problems as I am, so I figured I would put a warning, there are perfectly working recoveries out there already, so Im not too concerned about troubleshooting it.
Rootzwiki doesn't have an optimus v forum, why would I post it there?

Nonono, the Recovery forum. The the Razor recovery.
Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk
I have had zero issues with it making and restoring backups. Now if your trying to restore a cwm style backup it will not restore the ext partition. But I remember there being incompatibilities with xionna and cwm also so it might just be a simple fix.
I agree with Curiousnoob why not post at rootzwiki? The thread I linked to is the support thread for the recovery.
Also your title is misleading, you assume because three people are having issues everybody is/will. There is also the fact the recovery is not called razor..bleh.
When I posted this, nobody had any success stories with the recovery, I was trying to save some headache, I will edit it

I seen your question in that thread. I think it got overlooked. The only thing I dont like about RW is the people there are all about the new devices. There was the guy with a S that got all kinds of help. I think being persistent is the best bet.

Yeah, those jerks. >:0
Joking. xP
All the newer devices are really getting better, but still kinda sucky. :/
I have a HD2, and the roms aren't good. It's just the phone that's gpod. Bad battery life, Reception drops alot, buttons stop working soon, screen goes unresponsive, again, soon. ICS really isn't a big whoop. the rom barely has Camera working. :/

[Q] I'm doing it wrong...

My S2 just went out of warranty so I decided I'd start messing around with rooting it. After all, I've modded my xbox360, xbox, and every phone prior to it that I've ever owned (nonsmart). So anyway, I visited here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18859438&postcount=199
and read through everything, downloaded it and ran it. everything was successful:
http://i.imgur.com/Ljyy1.jpg
and then when I unplugged my phone to check it out I get this error constantly popping up:
"The application Google Services Framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexcpectedly. Please try again."
and I can't get anywhere past the stupid "click the android to start" screen. No home screen, no contacts, no nothing. That's when I realized....I downloaded and ran the wrong effing one! I accidentally used the link that flashes: zImage, factoryfs.img with root, and modem.bin, instead of the one that flashes: zImage, factoryfs.img, and modem.bin
What can I do to get myself out of this mess? Can I just rerun the correct one? I'm too scared to mess around with anything now for fear of making it worse. I definitely need to be more careful next time. Thanks for any help.
Try redownloading and reinstalling. Maybe a bad download.

It's funny you guys are giving me such a hard time about this. I actually tried getting into recovery mode after posting this, but was using the wrong button combo the entire time thanks to technocredo dot com (apparently I can't post urls), and figured I was screwed.
Anyway, I found the correct button combination and all is now well, I'm back to square one minus any pictures I didnt back up, no biggie.

[Q] (Q) How do I fix "Firmware upgrade Encountered"

Ok so this is my second Note 2. I am not new to rooting or anything. The first note 2 I had it was really simple, this one is giving me problems. I wasn't sure what software it was on so tryed the first method for unlocking the bootloader. And now Im getting this message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again". I have tryed to restore it to stock via the methods stated in this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207 and its failing at sbin or whatever. The phone will go back into download mode but it fails everytime I try to restore it. I am at a loss here. Please help (p.s I try the 2nd way to unlock the bootloader, seeing as how it might be on the new ota, it still didn't work. Thanks in advance!
Try flashing the alternate restore in Odin from imnuts thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040264

Why would my story be shaky? I tryed to explain my problem as good as I could..what is the purpose of making up lies.haha If anything that would only hinder my quest to find a solution.
You didn't check to see the software version of your phone before you went and grabbed a file that modifies your phone.
Did you ever stop for a second and think "wait a min..."

Ok the first note 2 I had was so easy root and then unlock...I didn't remember exactly what I did when It came to the note 2. even though I read through the instructions this most recent time. I know especially with an expensive phone like the note 2 to be very careful. I knew eventually I would figure it out and I would get some help after reading through the many forums on xda. I took for granted how easy it was and thats why I temp. bricked my 2nd note 2. This 2nd note 2 is working fine on eclipse based on the latest ota now. Sorry for being an ass, but I was just trying to solve a frustrating problem, like the ones Im sure you have come across.
Understood. We can move on. We're good.
I believe Kintwofan will come on here shortly and say "use the alternate restore zip". I wasn't trying to humiliate you. I wanted you to remember what you did so you don't do it again. I bet you'll always check 'about phone' now, right? Very important, my friend.
