So I don't know why, but the RUU exe files just don't work for me. I've done everything but start fresh on my PC, but it's exam week in a computer modeling class and I just can't do that right now!
I've had nothing but problems since I attempted one of the 2-step processes out there for updating to the radios/kernels, so I really want to get through an RUU so I know I'm clean at my lowest levels.
I have found the PH98...zip files for the shipped version of the ROM, but thoes don't work due to my version of HBOOT (not mainver.. that never got updated).
Does anyone out there have one for the newest RUU? At this point, I think flashing that from HBOOT is the only option I have.
I have no idea how to extract it myself, so I can do that too if someone can tell me how!
Thanks for any help.

You did relock your bootloader before running the RUU right?

Oh yeah. Really, tried everything. It sees the phone, reads the current build, goes through the next screen or two, and then once it says "Rebooting to Bootloader" it either sits there for a couple minutes till it times out and errors or errors immediately. I cannot find any other posts of people having problems, so I'm really at a loss. Makes me worried about having more troubles once the official ICS build comes out... but I probably have a lot of time till then.
Thanks guys!
Tried this as well, and my phone is not seeing the file
Make sure you are naming the file correctly "PH98IMG. zip" the instructions provided give a different file name than want the Rezound uses.

I updated to the latest ota that verizon sent out. I didnt flash a rom, only perm rooted/unlocked...I relocked my phone tried the ruu exe many times didnt work..I done a backup of my nandroid but it took me back to the earlier firmware but still have the updated radio..So, I will relock it and place this on my sd card and try again..I was getting error 140 on the ruu exe
Here is the no-brainer fix for those that end up having Mainver issues, or maybe want to come back from an ICS ROM to GB and RUU and the normal methods don't work...
Go to www.scottsroms.com and hit the download section, look for Rezound and Stock Roms. Grab his boot image for the latest OTA.
Then download his "Cleanflash" utility and copy the boot.img file to that directory on your PC.
Run it and select option "2".
That restores the stock boot image and mainver right there. If you made a Nandroid of your system from before you went to ICS, boot into recovery and restore it. His tool will also install Amon Ra or CWM recovery, just like the boot image, download the one you want and copy that recovery.img to the cleanflash folder and run the tool.
I went from a completely hosed ICS install which would not allow RUU or Hbooting the PH98IMG.zip file... nothing worked, was contemplating replacing the phone, when I tried Scott's tool to push the stock boot image to the phone and then restored my Nandroid.
Worked 100% in under 5 minutes, the Nandroid Restore taking most of that time.
Hope this helps!
Will someone who has an RUU downloaded please hook me up wit the latest gingerbread recovery.img.
Thanks
Edit..got it
I thought I had it, but I just cant figure it out. I know someone here can help me out. I just need the latest stock gingerbread recovery image from a RUU. I downloaded the 2.17 RUU from here http://www.filefactory.com/f/4ef0ef536face67a/
and I cant just explore it because its an exe file. so I did some googling and found this http://lukasz.szmit.eu/2010/04/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-android.html
seems pretty easy, right? well its not filtering the files i need it to (probably a noob mistake) well since that wouldnt work... i tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1273900.html and when I try that, my temp folder isnt where the op says it should be, and yes, im on windows 7. please help me here. give me the recovery image or tell me how to get it. thanks in advance.
I imagine you could pull it from one of Mr.Esp's RUU.zip files (part of football's thread).

Yeah, I downloaded the 2.17 ruu but I can't figure out how to extract the recovery image.
I thought u downloaded the .exe from Football's thread. Did u download the .zip version from the post I linked?
You should be able to open the zip and pull out the .img file, I think.

Glad to help. Question... What do you need the recovery for anyway?
I can't find anywhere to download the RUU for 2.17 software from. The thread that has the list of RUU's for the 3D, I can't download from FileFactory. Always tells me "all free download slots are currently in use, try again later" but it never works.
This is driving me nuts as I'm trying to update my radios so I can use MeanROM which is based on 2.17 and I have hboot 1.5 so I can't just flash them. On Synergy, when I go to settings and hit "check now" for software updates it just says "checking..." and doesn't do anything. It just sits there.
So anyone have a working d/l link for 2.17 RUU?

Ok so I got my phone s-off recently and was trying to flash the Team PkmN - Venasaur Rom v3.2.0. So after doing that i noticed that it would crash like every 5 minutes and I could never get any sound. I flashed the gingerbread patch and now it works fine. Now the question is my internal and external memory will not read but it was doing fine be fore I used the patch. So this makes me thing I'm running the Ginger bread firmware and not the 3.14 leak. But when I S-off'd it i used the 3.14 software because i thought that is what I had had because it was what was installed on my phone. So Is there any way to tell exactly what my phone is running. I have it S-off with hboot 2.21 and the PkmN rom installed. And also i saw a post on the S-off thread that had instructions to fix the internal and external memory will that work for me?
Sorry for the long post and thanks for the help.
Re-run the 3.14 ruu and reflash the rom
I have tried reflashing the ruu but for some reason every one that i download won't install and when i try and open it on the pc they all say they are invalid. and after trying to do the meomry fixes my phone will no longer connect to my network (So i have no service)....any advice for that? Or am I just screwed?
you can't run it as an .exe (Because it's not a real ruu)
it's a zip file, you must rename it to ph98img.zip and put it on your sd card and flash it from the bootloader... these instructions are all over the download links...
READ UP!
you're totally not screwed... all the info you need is here via search... but if you get antsy, join us on IRC and someone will be around to help out realtime.
I am well aware that it is a zip file and when i try and open the zip it tells me it is a invalid file on the computer. And how would one go about joining this IRC?
I'm on the IRC but could you maybe point me in the right direction for my problem on here? I've tried searching but since i don't really know what the problem is i don't know what to search.
....OK I'm an idiot apparently you have to put the back on the phone for it to work.....
I am trying to S-OFF my 3.16 2.09 HTC Evo i cannot find a download link for the 3.15 RUU zip folder. HTCRUU is down and all other links i've found were either down, corrupt or .exe files rather than zip folders. I tried just downloading one of the .exe's and placing it in a .zip file but when i tried to flash it to my evo I got an error, <remote: 12 signature verify fail>. Does anyone have a working link to a 3.15 ruu.zip or can you tell me what to do to create my own .zip and have it work? am I missing a file or something?

If you're trying to S-OFF, why aren't you just using what's provided on unlimited.io?
