Will someone who has an RUU downloaded please hook me up wit the latest gingerbread recovery.img.
Thanks
Edit..got it
I thought I had it, but I just cant figure it out. I know someone here can help me out. I just need the latest stock gingerbread recovery image from a RUU. I downloaded the 2.17 RUU from here http://www.filefactory.com/f/4ef0ef536face67a/
and I cant just explore it because its an exe file. so I did some googling and found this http://lukasz.szmit.eu/2010/04/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-android.html
seems pretty easy, right? well its not filtering the files i need it to (probably a noob mistake) well since that wouldnt work... i tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1273900.html and when I try that, my temp folder isnt where the op says it should be, and yes, im on windows 7. please help me here. give me the recovery image or tell me how to get it. thanks in advance.
I imagine you could pull it from one of Mr.Esp's RUU.zip files (part of football's thread).

Yeah, I downloaded the 2.17 ruu but I can't figure out how to extract the recovery image.
I thought u downloaded the .exe from Football's thread. Did u download the .zip version from the post I linked?
You should be able to open the zip and pull out the .img file, I think.

Hi, title says all, i want to downgrade SW from 2.17 to 2.08. Is there a way to do that? Thanks.

go to the correct thread and download the RUU for that SW version and then instal and you should be set to roll... be sure to rename the file and install it to your root to let your hboot install it on its own

That wouldn't be a rom I don't think if you dl it from sprint. It should be an exe file you run from your pc. Just plug your phone into your pc and run the exe you downloaded. It's called an ruu. It will erase root and your recovery and return you back to stock.

I'm not getting what you're saying here. I ran the 2.17 ruu and then I tried the 2.08 and it wouldn't install, I thought it was because it was older, but maybe I'm missing something. What file do you rename, the ruu? Install it to my root? What does that mean? Did it fail to install because I'm 1.5 s-on,?

I've found that anyone who reported random reboots was using the pg86img.zip files through bootloader to upgrade/downgrade the sw version. It's not that all pg86imgs don't work properly, its just that some don't and I don't know which ones. I'd strongly recommend using an RUU.exe file from your computer to go back to 2.08. I soft bricked my phone for a few hours also trying to install a pg86img.zip (but that was a dumb error on my part, and the RUU.exe fixed my stupidity )
EDIT: if the file you downloaded is an executable file (.exe), run it from your computer and you don't have to rename it anything. If you downloaded a .zip file, it has to be renamed to PG86IMG.zip and you have to put it in the root directory of your SD card

Hi,
I'm on an australian Desire X and I've been trying to install a stock European RUU (i heard you couldn't update the phone while on a custom rom) after rooting and installing the CWM using Hasoons Toolkit on my phone, but it won't let me due to error 131 customer id error.
Since then I have tried to write the cid using android platform-tools which I found didn't work due to my S-On status
Making a gold card which nothing happened
Retrieve the rom.zip from the installation and try to change the android-info.txt but the .zip was corrupt
Had a look at S-Off tutorials, but the programs they use don't seem to support the Desire X
I have a kernel in a zip file and the .md5 for the RUU if that'll help with anything.
I was wondering if there was any way to change the cid or get S-Off on the Desire X?
Thanks in advance.
Not yet, and looking at the HTC One X and One X+, I think it's gonna take a while 'till we get it.
How did you do the thing with goldcard?

You need to exract rom zip from RUU, rename it to PM66IMG.zip, put it to root of GoldCard and reboot to bootloader, not fastboot. When bootloader is loaded it checks sd card for that kind of file and it will ask you to update from PM66IMG.zip found on sd card. That's the way to bypass cid checking.

The zip i retrieved from the ruu exe is corrupt, looking around apparently it's something htc implemented in the newer files.

It's not corrupted it's cripted from opening and most likely bootloader decripts. My question stays, have you tried to use it in a way a described?

No, but I will try at the end of the week when I have some free time and post results. Unless anyone has tried and knows if it works or not.
Going to attempt tomorrow, but I would like to know if it's possible to brick the phone using this method and if it's recoverable.

Dear nloooo, are we got ruuveal support for proto and the Rom you created is to be installed using PM66IMG.zip method or custom recovery? Can you please upload the stock ROM which I can install with CID HTC__044 and can have OTA working as well. OTA does not seem to work with DEODEXED roms provided earlier on the forum..:good:

PM66IMG.zip is not meant to be flashed from recovery, it's not a flashable zip. If you get CID mismatch then RUU is not made for your version of device..
i am finally s-off thanks to Juopunutbear and unlimited.io......
i figured that i would try flashing from Juopunutbear 1.58.5858 hboot to eng 1.04 hboot....shockingly enough i was successful on the first attempt,,,
loaded the PG86IMG.zip file to the root of my sd card and went without a hitch....
i got brave and was gonna do another hboot,,so,,i renamed the the next file to PG86IMG.zip just like the last time and booted into fastboot and..........nothing,,,,,,,,,hmmmm,,,,so i tried again,,,and nothing,,,,,,thought i had a bad download so i downloaded from another source ...and nothing....
well,,i thought,,theres alot i can do with the eng 1.04 hboot so i decided to change my radio ,,,just to figure out how all this works,,,,downloaded the radio,,,renamed it to PG86IMG.zip,,,,,booted into fastboot and,,,,nothing,,the same as before.....so,,,all of a sudden my fastboot wont recognize the PG86IMG.zip files and i have no idea why....
any help would be greatly appreciated

i figured it out,,,,,,for a DOS guy i'm kinda proud of myself.....LOL
when you rename any hboot file or ruu file to <filename>.zip if you look at that files properties the actual file would be called ..
<filename>.zip.zip.....
because windows recognizes certain files without an extension so one isnt needed...
so i renamed my filename to just PG86IMG and didnt put an extension of .zip on it and put it in the root of my sd card and whalah......instant success
Somehow I managed to soft brick my AT&T HTC one...I've spent the last three days trying to fix it, but I am utterly failing. I'm at the point where I am trying to flash the factory RUU, but I have no idea which RUU.zip to use.
Basic Googling and troubleshooting has brought me to this post; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428276 but I frankly have no idea which one I should choose. I've tried a few but they've all failed. I'm really just looking for some assistance on which zip to use and I should be able to take it from there.

I was able to get it recognized and pushed the TWRP Nandroid onto the SD card, but it doesn't want to restore it. Going to the restore tab shows no files and if I attempt to just flash it. Ok, I see, you have to extract the zip and place it into the TWRP backups folder. Haven't used twrp in a while, but isn't there a file manager? If possible you need to extract the zip file and place the folder in the TWRP/BACKUPS/SerialNumber/. I believe that is the directory.
I'm sorry I didn't realize that before.

I tried that and it actually pushed without error, but upon boot I just get a black screen. I'm in the process of getting a different one and trying again. I'll report back on if it works or not.
I really do appreciate the help thus far, thank you!
I finally got it working! There is something up with htc1guru.com which is causing it to terminate downloads after a certain period of time. I downloaded it from a server of mine, pushed it to the device and restored. Only issue now is that the touch screen is not working, which I was expecting, but I'm trying to figure out how to issue an OTA update without being able to use the screen.
